I have just returned from a staff meeting where the agenda revolved around how well our new children have settled into the school. I have to say I am delighted with what I have heard and it seems we have a particularly lovely intake who seem to have taken to life at Godstowe very smoothly and with a good attitude. This all makes teaching so much more fun and, as you know, we do try to major on enthusiasm and motivation, which they all seem to have in abundance. I should also congratulate all other girls who have worked so hard to welcome those new to the school so readily. Things are well underway both in and out of the

Friendsnews This week Friends of Godstowe presented the school with a cheque for £15,000 which contributed towards the new boardwalk built alongside the netball courts in the summer. A big thank you to all of you who have supported FOG in the last year. We held our first full Christmas Fair planning meeting this week which was well attended by both class reps and other parents wishing to be involved. The plans are now well underway and some of our Christmas offers will hit the school bags and your inboxes next week!

new mums to the school have enjoyed the opportunity to meet other parents and to hear more about what the school and FOG offers. We have had many offers of help with FOG this year which is fantastic, we do however still need a few more helping hands to take on some small roles which do not involve a huge amount of time, there are even some areas that can be done from behind a computer in your own home! Please do get in touch if you think you are able to lend a hand in any shape or form.
Our afternoon teas have been well attended by both Lodge and Main School parents, in particular

Beaconsfield Autumn Fair
The Fouths will be bringing home an important form from Sister today. Please read all the information provided and return the completed form by Tuesday of next week. Please make sure you return the form even if you do not wish your daughter to have the immunisation. If you wish to contact Sister about the immunisation offered please email her on sister@godstowe.org.
Today, girls will be bringing home a brochure for the Autumn Fair that is taking place in Beaconsfield on Thursday 16th October. The fair raises money for The Chiltern Action Medical Research for Children, a charity that Godstowe has long supported. Kate Allner, our Chairman of Governors is one of the main organisers behind this event, which promises lots of wonderful stalls - a great opportunity to start Christmas shopping!
Godstowe teachers complete 26 mile Shine Night Walk Last Saturday night, whilst most of you were enjoying a wind down followed by a warm cosy bed, staff members Christine Laxton, Laura van Hoegaerden and Natasha Baker spent the night walking a 26.2 miles around the streets of London in aid of Cancer Research UK. “It was a fantastic experience, but very gruelling and towards the end every step was agony,” Christine said. “Possibly the hardest aspect was missing a whole night’s sleep!” They have so far raised a combined total of nearly £600 but if you would like to sponsor them please contact Mrs Laxton on claxton@godstowe.org.
Poems of the week Yesterday marked National Poetry Day and the theme this year was ‘Remember’. Here are two poems by two Form I pupils. My Body Memories
I remember when….
My skin remembers air, My ears remember laughs, My nose remembers the smell of dinner, And I remember you. My tongue remembers mango, My eyes remember trees, My feet remember bumpy land, And you remember me.
I remember the taste of food, I remember the sweet smell of flowers, I remember the feeling of happiness, I remember seeing the nice juicy strawberries, I remember the sun and fluffy clouds, I remember the soft fur of teddy bears.
