9 STRAIGHT WINS FOR THE U.S TEAM AT THE PRESIDENTS CUP
KOREAN PLAYERS RECORD
컵 ,미국 9연승
CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA - In a single match play on the last day of the Presidents Cup held at the Quail Hollow Club (par 71, 7,571 yards) in Charlotte, North Carolina, which ended on September 25, the Korean players on the international team competed against the U.S team. They played well with 3 wins and 1 loss, but the U.S team came up with victory with a final score of 17.5-12.5.
As the first runner, Si-woo Kim (27) defeated Justin Thomas by one hole, and Sungjae Im (24) also won against Cameron Young by one hole. Kyung-hoon Lee (31)
LOSS
also beat Billy Horshall by three holes and continued the three straight wins for Korean players, but the youngest member of the team, Joo-Hyung Kim (20), lost to Max Houma by one hole, and the Korean players' record on that day was 3 wins and 1 loss.
The U.S team has won nine consecutive wins since 2005, and has maintained an overwhelming advantage with a career record of 12 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss. In the U.S match, the United States won all eight, and the last and only win for the international team was the 1998 Australian tournament. The draw came in 2003 in
South Africa.
The United States, who had been leading 11-7 until the previous game, made 15.5-9.5 and claimed the championship with Xander Schauffele, who played in the 7th game, defeated Cory Connors (Canada) by one hole.
In this tournament, 4 Korean players out of 12 of the international team and K.J Choi(52) as the vice-captain, set the record for the most Korean players in the President's Cup history.
The Korean players performed well together with 6.25 points, which is half of the 12.5 points won by the international team (half the points won in a two-person team match).
Si-woo Kim recorded 3 wins and 1 loss, Sungjae Im with 2
wins, 1 draw and 2 losses, Kyeong-Hoon Lee with 2 wins and 1 loss, Joo-hyung Kim finished his Presidents Cup debut with 2 wins and 3 losses. Si-woo Kim is the only player in the international team to have won three games.
In the United States, Jordan Spieth was the most outstanding player in the tournament with five wins.
Max Homa also achieved all four wins.
The Korean players couldn’t stop the international team's defeat, but Joo-hyung Kim put a birdie on the last hole of the game on the afternoon of the third day and gave an impressive ceremony to the fans.
The next Presidents Cup tournament will be held in Montreal, Canada in 2024.

Andrea Lee, a Korean player, won her first debut at the Amazing Cree Portland Classic on the LPGA Tour.
Andrea Lee shot a 6-under 66 with two 8 birdies in the
fourth round at Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland, Oregon for a final total of 19-under 269, beating Daniela Darquea by one stroke to win the trophy.
Andrea Lee, a graduate of Stanford University, won eight individual titles while attending Stanford University and tied the title record at Stanford University. She also won the Marc McCormack Medal, given to amateurs.
Andrea Lee, who made her debut on the 2020 LPGA Tour, marked her seventh top 10 game to record the first win since entering the Top 10 on her six career LPGA Tour careers, including finishing fourth in the Bank of Hope match play in May this year.
This year, Andrea Lee won the 'Casino del Sol Golf Classic'
on the Epson Tour, which is the developmental tour.
YOUNG STARS SHINE AS TOUR HEADS TO TEXAS
Atthaya Thittikul further cemented her rising-star status on Sunday with a playoff victory over major champion
Danielle Kang to become the fourth multiple winner of the 2022 LPGA Tour season.
Stardom found Thittikul early. At the age of 14 she became the youngest player, male or female, to win a professional golf tournament. And with her victory on Sunday at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship she took another step toward megastar status as she joined Minjee Lee, Brooke Henderson, and Jennifer Kupcho
as the only players to win more than once this season. Thittikul also became the first rookie since Sung Hyun Park in 2017 to win multiple times. The 19-year old’s maiden win came in March at the JTBC Classic presented by Barbasol.
“It means a lot to me as well to get my second win because you prove that you can do it,” Thittikul said after her victory on Sunday. “It means the world to me on rookie year [to] win twice already. And then, yeah, it's kind of like a big [achievement] as well.”
Atthaya Thitikul of Thailand holds the winner's trophy after winning the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship Presented by P&G Photo Credit: 2022 Getty ImagesOn the heels of her win, Thittikul and the LPGA Tour make the five hour trip south from Rogers, Arkansas to The Colony, Texas for the 10th playing of The Ascendant LPGA benefiting Volunteers of America. The Lone Star State has produced some of the biggest names to have ever picked up a golf club. Names like Babe Didrickson Zaharias, Ben Hogan, and Byron Nelson. But they don't come any bigger than Kathy Whitworth, the winningest golfer in history with 88 victories, who has long called Texas her home. The Hall of Famer has been a fixture at the LPGA Tour’s annual stop in her state and the winner of Whitworth’s junior tournament has earned a berth to compete in the tournament.
A star-studded field is poised to compete at Old American Golf Club, where Nelly Korda, the top-ranked American, makes her tournament debut. The Olympic Gold medalist is joined by eight of the top-10 players in the Race to the CME Globe Standings including Brooke Henderson, Lydia Ko, Lexi Thompson, and Celine Boutier. Defending champion Jin Young Ko will not defend her title for the second time this season as she continues to rehab an
ongoing wrist injury.
The trip to Texas signals the final stretch of the LPGA Tour season with just six events remaining on the schedule. These last few playing opportunities present a last chance for players to earn the coveted points needed in order to qualify for the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship in Naples, Florida. The top 60 in the point standings will be eligible. A strong finish in each of the last six events will also give players a chance to further solidify, or to advance, in the season-long races for the Rolex Player of the Year, Money Title, Vare Trophy, and Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year.
As the old saying goes, ‘everything’s bigger in Texas.’ Well, the stakes don’t get much bigger than what is up for grabs as the LPGA Tour winds into its final stretch of the year. And it all continues Thursday as the race to identify the superstars of the 2022 LPGA Tour season swings into the Lone Star State.

SAY HELLO TO TOM KIM: GOLF’S NEXT SUPER STAR - BY TOM FERRARO, PH.D.
It’s not every week that you see the birth of a super star but we made have seen just that during this year’s President Cup Matches at Quail Hollow Golf Club. It was expected that with the defection of major players like Sergio Garcia, Joaquin Nieman and Louis Oosthuizen, the 2022 President’s Cup would be a runaway route by the American team who had golfing legends like Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and Colin Morikawa. On paper, the match up was lopsided and unpromising. But the reality was that, thanks to one slightly overweight, irrepressible 21 year old from Seoul, South Korea, the golfing world was greeted with a treat it was not expecting. It is a rare thing for a young athlete to embrace the global spotlight in a way that Kim did. The last time I recall seeing a young athlete run toward fame and not away from it was when Patrick Reed arrived on the PGA Tour and immediately became the face of the American Ryder Cup team with his shushing of crowds and , and screams of “Come on!!!”
It is customary to see young golfers shy away from the spotlight but much like Captain America, Tom Kim shouted and fist pumped and smiled his way into every viewer’s heart.
His arrival was described in a number of remarkable quotes from the TV commentators, teammates and his captain. Paul Azinger, the American TV golf analyst went so far as to say “He’s my favorite player. I’m telling you this guy’s going to be the best player in the world someday.” His Captain, Trevor Immelman said this about Tom Kim, “He has the ability to be a global super star.” The reason Kim is able to elicit these kinds of remarks for golfing experts is because he combines a rare combination of other worldly talent, enormous enthusiasm, a knack for playing well under extreme pressure and instant likability. Proof of his talent and ability to play under pressure was seen on Saturday during day three of the President’s Cup. With the whole world watching and with his foursomes match still on the line, he hit a 239 yard 2 iron that landed softly and rolled to within 10 feet of the cup. He then proceeded to make the cup, proving that he hits two irons like Ben Hogan and has the heart of Tiger Woods.
But his charisma does not stop there. His reaction to all this is what makes him so unusual. He throws his hat down, screams aloud and is swarmed by his loving teammates who were immediately infused with Ian Poulter like energy. But what is so extraordinary about his reactions are that they do not contain the anger or
aggression that Poulter displays but instead it’s filled with a joie de vivre which makes the entire crowd want to route for him.
His backstory is of interest. His dad was a tour player who turned into a teaching pro and they have lived in Korea, China, Australia, Philippines and Thailand. He speaks three languages, and his personality does not show the prototypical Asian quietness and reserve but instead he is open, self-effacing as well as confident. This is what I would call the ‘Likability Factor” but in spades.
It is not every day that one gets to see the birth of a global super star and a young man of 20 that is willing to stare the camera in the faced and smile. This young golfer was a delight to behold and as Trevor Immelman remarked “he’s the real deal.” Buckle up and get ready to watch great golf infused with Tiger fist pumps from a charming kid who refers to himself as a ‘fast food savant.’ What the world needs now are a few more Tom Kims.
PICK THE RIGHT TARGET!
because of poor target selection. If you’re shooting in the 80s or 90s, one of the easiest ways to improve your scores quickly is to pick the right target on your tee shots, approaches, and pitches/chips around the greens.
Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges President Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities Senior Vice President John F. Kennedy University Former President and CEO
I am almost continually confronted with golfers that turn pars into bogeys and bogeys into double-bogeys
Off the tee, picking the target should be relatively easy for the average golfer. Think about your maximum carry distance and work your way backward on a line from the tee that puts you away from trouble. That seems simple,
Mac Powell about.me/drmacpowellbut I regularly see amateur golfers aiming over bunkers or trees or water and trying to hit a miraculous shot that rarely succeeds. The goal of the tee shot is simple, to put you in position to get the ball on the green. Getting the ball into position is the key, and picking a target that puts you in the fairway (or in a position on the course from which you can hit a successful approach) should dictate your target off the tee.
From the fairway (or approaching the green from any position on the course), the calculation is slightly different. If you have a short iron (9-iron, pitching wedge, sand wedge, or lob wedge), then you should assess where the pin is on the green and try to hit a shot as close to the pin as possible (without short-siding yourself). Pretty simple. However, if you have a longer club into the green, ignore the pin. Just forget about it. Find a yardage to the middle of the green and pick a club that will get you there with 80% effort. Forget under swinging and overswinging. Make a repeatable swing, and accept a shot anywhere on the green.
From around the greens, I often see amateurs employ a hit-and-hope mentality. They become too focused on the bottom of the cup and not nearly enough on their landing spot - I.e. their target. From around the green, you should assess your lie, choose the club and trajectory based upon that, and then pick a target on the green (something no bigger than a quarter) where you can land the ball and have it roll out to the hole. Focusing on the landing spot and using your imagination to capture the correct speed is the hallmark of all great chippers/pitchers.
Now, I understand that all of these dictums sound simplistic, but I can’t tell you how many times I see amateur golfers lose six or seven strokes a round just by picking bad targets. When I was working with elite junior golfers, I would regularly have playing lessons in which I picked their targets for them using these suggestionsand while EVERY student thought I was crazy or giving away shots, ALL of them ended the round with lower scores - and they all commented on how less mentally fatigued they were at the end of the round because they didn’t have to rely upon perfect shots or difficult recovery shots that put unnecessary pressure on their scoring.
And, I also recognize that this strategy is BORING. However, it is a style of golf that frustrates opponents and generally maximizes the scoring ability of weekend and
even everyday golfers.
you truly want to consistently lower your scores and maximize your scoring potential, choose the targets for your tee shots, approaches, and pitches/chips in alignment with these basic scoring principles.

‘A NEXT-GENERATION PLAYER WHO FEELS GREAT JUST BY HOLDING A CLUB’ ‘SHOWING OFF MY SKILLS’ BY WINNING THE SEOKYUNG UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT’S CUP GOLF TOURNAMENT THIS YEAR
“I will become a world-class golfer like Tiger Woods.”
It can be said that golf has been established as a popular sport in Korea since 1998. Se-ri Park's victory in the pond shot, which appeared like a comet in the midst of the IMF foreign exchange crisis at the time, gave courage and hope to all the people.
After debuting on the LPGA Tour, Se-ri Park became the first Asian player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame by harvesting a total of 25 victories, including five major championships, in 17 years. Since then, Korea has become a golf republic, with Inbee Park, who won the Grand Slam and gold medal at the Rio Olympics in Brazil. Unfortunately, the recent male high school golf prospects are in a downturn. As of last year, the number fell sharply from 1,16 to 336 in the last 10 years. On the other hand, the female high school has no change from 389 in 2010 to 357 last year, so it is urgent to expand the base of male prospects.
At this time, a promising player who will lead the heyday of men's golf appeared.
That is Seung-Joo Kim, a student at SIS International School. Seung-Joo Kim was already under the influence of his father (professional Kim Jae-Hwan), who was a professional golfer since he was 5 years old, and started holding the club at the age of 5. He began to show interest in golf while living with his mother in Fullerton, California, which is called America's golf sanctuary, and going to the driving range. Although he didn't take lessons from any coach, he saw his parents practice and started imitating the swing, and since then, golf has become an indispensable best friend and play for Seung-Joo Kim.
In the 2013 Korea-Japan Asian Junior Golf Tournament, he began to develop his dream of becoming a golf player by placing 5th in the national selection for the FCG World Championships in Korea. Seung-Joo Kim's challenge began in the match between Korea's representative junior players and Japan's representative junior players.
In 2018, he started to stand out by taking the runners-up in the junior division at the Sports Korea Cup Kookmin University President's Cup Golf Tournament.
Seung-Joo Kim said, "As the tournament was reduced due to the spread of Covid 19, I was immersed in only practicing, and during the period when the competition was not held, I was immersed in my studies. I was able to achieve good results at the Seokyung University
President's Cup Golf Tournament.
He has grown by 4 cm from his height of 168 cm last year, and he said that the secret to maintaining good grades was a sensible short game and steady training volume, but he said that strengthening his muscles through weight training was also the foundation for good grades. As a result, he averaged 77 strokes last year and reduced his average to 75 strokes this year. As the global epidemic spreads, the elite sports world is also in recession and the grades are leveling down. In 2007, at the time, K.J Choi said, "The two victories I have won this year are over at that moment. I am now standing at another starting line." Impressed. Seung-Joo Kim also felt the will to devote himself to a higher goal.
“Even if I get calluses on my hands through a lot of training, I will never let go of the club because I enjoy the sport I choose,” said Seung-Joo Kim. “K.J Choi is like a god to me. He said, "I will prepare a stepping stone to be reborn as a world-class player by achieving good results.”

FITTING
CUSTOM CLUB FITTER OFFERS FREE PUTTER FITTINGS TO ENCOURAGE A FITTED FLAT STICK
Willowbrook, IL -- There’s nothing worse than a three-putt on a hole that should have been an easy par. Could practice help? Always. But there’s a chance something else is keeping you from reaching your putting potential — your equipment. To solve this problem, the globe’s top custom fitter created Putter Fitting Month to focus on the club responsible for roughly 40% of your strokes.
From September 1 to October 2, 2022, every Club Champion
location will waive the putter fitting fee, valued at $125, for any golfer who purchases a new putter or custom putter shaft with Club Champion installation.
“We see golfers come in all the time wanting more distance or looking to increase fairways hit, but somehow ignore their putter,” says Nick Sherburne, Club Champion founder. “Putting may not be as sexy as bombing it off the tee, but your putter is arguably the most important club in the bag if you’re looking to truly play better golf and lower your scores.”
So how does it work? It starts with an unrivaled number of putter options, including models from brands like Evnroll, Sacks Parente, Edel Golf, Scotty Cameron, Bettinardi Golf, PING, and many more. Those brands, plus putter shaft options from a variety of companies, combine with Science and Motion (SAM) PuttLab technology to help Club Champion master fitters to pinpoint the perfect putter. Their fitters have been trained to understand what each putter brings to the table, and their only goal is to find the best combination of components to lower your scores.
To complement their expansive equipment knowledge and options, Club Champion master fitters are also trained to analyze SAM PuttLab metrics to precisely break down what’s going on with your existing putter. Key criteria about your stroke — club path, face angle at impact, loft, lie angle, consistencies of rotation — should be considered when seeking out a new putter. Data from the SAM PuttLab helps fitters address those things, as well as other elements like head style, weight, putter length, face balancing and even toe-hang. Your Club Champion fitter will explain what areas need to be changed with a new putter or simply adjusted on your current putter.
Whether you are an occasional golfer or on the links weekly, every player benefits from a custom-fitted putter. To take advantage of Club Champion’s Putter Fitting Month promotion, please visit clubchampion.com to book a putter fitting in the month of September.

LYLE AND SCOTT SPRING 2023 APPAREL LINE AVAILABLE TO INDUSTRY BUYERS
Hawick, Scotland, August 31, 2022– Lyle & Scott – an iconic global leader in golf fashion – is pleased to announce that its Spring 2023 men’s and women’s apparel is available to industry buyers. With this new line, Lyle & Scott continues to add to an already rich history by championing quality, innovation and good taste.
“Lyle & Scott launched in the United States earlier this year, and we’re very pleased with the reception we’ve received by the golf industry here,’ said Wayne Webster, National Sales Manager USA Golf. “We’ve already written a significant number of orders from the initial customers who have reviewed this new line and we’re excited about the opportunity to grow our
brand in the U.S.”
The Lyle & Scott Spring 23 Collection takes inspiration from the colors, textures, and traditions of fishing villages. These villages bridge land and sea and provide a life of stark contrast. Simple in nature, yet demanding of endurance, patience, and skill. These requirements are similar to those of golf and provide a unique balance of statement and timelessness. The collection features three distinct patterns.
The Eagle Print pattern features the iconic Golden Eagle, which is re-imagined as an allover print, providing a bold logo execution and brand carrier. The use of dark navy and white in print ties this statement piece back to the coastal inspiration.
The Stripe pattern references the stripes commonly found on nautical garments. The collection features wider, yarn dyed stripes alongside more classical micro-stripes, in both contrast and tonal offerings.
Taking inspiration from crashing waves on the shore and the painted hulls of ships, the Seafoam pattern is a distinctive all over print featured across multiple categories of the collection. Tonal color pairings balance excitement and commerciality throughout.
Lyle & Scott’s premium and accessible men’s and women’s golf fashion pieces include its heritage knitwear along with more innovative, sustainable, and organic materials in sophisticated, modern aesthetics informed by decades of design and passion to make golf more exciting, inclusive and accessible to everyone.

GYEONGSANGBUK-DO GOVERNOR LEE CHEOL-WOO VISITS THE US
OPERATE GYEONGBUK AGRICULTURAL AND FISHERIES DISTRIBUTION CORPORATION TO EXPORT FOOD COMPARED TO THE 6TH INDUSTRY
Gyeongbuk Governor Lee Cheol-woo, a former mathematics teacher who served as a three-term member of the National Assembly and the re-elected Gyeongsangbuk-do governor after working at the National Intelligence Service, visited the United States. Governor Lee Cheol-woo said, “Gyeongsangbuk-do is the largest municipality in Korea and has developed based on agriculture, but as industrial development began to move to Seoul, the number of residents in rural areas decreased sharply, and all convenience facilities developed around Seoul, contributing to regional development. He points
out that it is becoming an obstacle and says that he is trying to solve various pending issues to make Gyeongbuk a good place to live by increasing all infrastructure such as education, medical care, culture, and shopping to solve these fundamental problems and enrich the lives of local residents. He pointed out that, for Korea, an advanced country, to develop further, it should put a lot of effort into the balanced development of the land and prepare for a decrease in the number of population through regional development. He pointed out that facilities should be
expanded and developed.
Next, Governor Lee said, “Many people have flocked to Seoul to Seoul, but it is questionable whether their lives are really happy. It is creating conditions that can prevent the development of the region and allow for considerable development of the region. The United States also has administrative capitals like Washington DC, and there are representative cities in each state, such as New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
Governor Lee Cheol-woo, with a strong will for the local era, is at the forefront of regional development as the chairman of the National Regional Balanced Development Committee, in which the mayors and governors of the country participate.
In particular, in the meantime, even the secretary general who oversees the affairs of this committee has been taken over by a former public official who has not been able to understand the local situation properly. We are trying to solve the problems faced by the provinces and find ways to develop them.
Lee's visit to the US was to promote and sell Gyeongsangbuk-do's agricultural and fishery food products to Los Angeles and other US regions and to discuss various related tasks that Gyeongbuk has. "Food is the 6th industry. Agricultural and Food Distribution Corporation was established to focus on food research, and Gyeongbuk Trade Company is working together to sell regional specialty products, so that Gyeongsangbukdo products are sold more worldwide. In particular, on the occasion of this visit by Lee Ji-sa and her party, the 1st Gyeongbuk-do Governor's Cup Golf Tournament hosted by the Gyeongsangbuk-do Association of America was held at the Okquarie Golf Club in Riverside, and the tournament was successfully completed, contributing to the unity of Koreans from North Gyeongsang Province.
LOS ANGELES KOREAN FESTIVAL
JEOLLANAM-DO GOVERNOR VISITS U.S.
Jeollanam-do Governor Kim Young-rok and the visiting group visited Los Angeles after Chicago, USA.
In particular, this visit includes cultural and artistic exchanges and cooperation in the Chicago area, the signing of a global data center investment agreement with Solasido in Haenam-gun, the opening of the Namdo Marketplace USA, the Korean Festival, and the sales of Jeonnam products sold to Hannam Food and Cosco. I visited the United States for a meeting, etc.
Kim Ji-sa visited the U.S. in time for various events ahead of the full-scale launch of Jeollanam-do products in the American market, and put the first button for targeting the American market that Jeollanam-do had been promoting.
Governor Kim Young-rok set up a logistics center in the western part of the United States with the idea that Jeollanam-do agricultural and fishery food would dominate the market with the world's most recognized product, and he set up a system such as order delivery through the Internet and started full-fledged activities. In the meantime, Jeonnam products have shown steady sales growth by increasing their awareness through Amazon, but it is difficult to sell refrigerated and frozen products.
At the opening ceremony, Governor Kim Young-rok said, "Export to the US is just beginning." He said, "We are aiming to establish a sales network worldwide with a goal of $1 billion by 2025, and to reach $5 million to $10 million in the United States."
Then, Kim Ji-sa said, "Jeonnam is a place of taste and is the most standard place for agricultural and fishery products, and we will do our best to export products in honor of Korea"
Governor Kim Young-rok also said that the sales of Jeonnam Foods would be a signal that if Jeollanamdo agricultural and fishery foods were successful in the United States, it would be the signal that Korean agricultural and fishery products were the best in the world.
The opening event of the logistics center was held with
great success, with Congressman Michel Steele, California Representative Choi Seok-ho from Naju, Jeollanam-do, and people from all walks of life in attendance. They also celebrated the opening.
Jeollanam-do has set 2022 and 2023 as the Years of Visit to Jeollanam-do, and has a plan to make Jeollanam-do more convenient and friendly to all Koreans and tourists coming from abroad.
This visit to the US was conducted by Shin Hyun-gon, Director of International Cooperation and Choi Kwangwoo, Director of the Los Angeles Jeonnam Trade Office.

Golf Elbow: How to Avoid Surgery 골프 엘보우, 이렇게 하면 수술을 피한다
elbow, you can prevent it by putting an ice pad on the spot, even if it doesn't hurt after golf practice. And in everyday life, if possible, it is helpful to have a band around the wrist so as not to bend the wrist. Again, the muscles attached to the inside of the elbow bend the wrist, not the elbow.
If you play golf frequently, especially if you swing a lot on the mat rather than the grass at the driving range, the inside of your elbow may hurt. The part where your elbow touches your body when your palm is facing the sky is the inside elbow, where golf elbow often occurs. The muscles attached to this side act to bend the wrist, not the elbow, and after the backswing with the club, increase the speed to the maximum and use the force until the moment the ball is hit. Excessive repetition of this movement injures the muscles and tendons in this area, especially if you focus on hitting the ground, it is easy to get this type of injury.
A characteristic symptom is pain in the inner elbow, which may be worse when bending the wrist or grasping something. Therefore, when opening a door or opening a lid, they feel the pain. When you pick up a bag or object from the floor, you also feel pain as the force is applied to your wrist and elbow. If you leave this symptom unattended, numbness in your hands will appear later, and you will feel as if electricity is flowing.
The best remedy for this symptom is to not exercise. First of all, you need to put a cold ice pad in place without making a golf swing. For chronic pain that has been on for more than two weeks, a hot hot pad should be used, but an ice pad is good for such a short period of time. If you often get golf
Acupressure here is even better. When you have golf elbow, the thick muscle that runs from your inner elbow to your little finger becomes tight. At this time, if you gently loosen this muscle with your hand or a tennis ball, the recovery of the damage caused by golf elbow will be faster. One thing to be aware of is that you should not apply strong pressure to the area of the inner elbow where the tendon injury actually occurred. The trick is to release the thick muscle that rises 1-2 inches toward the finger on the spot. When such muscle and tendon damage is severe, steroid injections may be considered. Steroids are a type of hormone therapy that quickly reduces inflammation in any area. Many show immediate pain relief after this procedure. However, if you use this over a certain level, the muscles and tendons will become weaker, so it is not to be treated carelessly. After this procedure, the pain suddenly disappears, but in reality, there are cases where the area is completely ruptured and surgery is performed while forcibly replaying the golf swing in a weakened situation.
In oriental medicine, acupuncture is applied to damaged muscles and tendons to help them recover quickly. Although acupressure and massage are effective, it is difficult to see the effect even on the deep muscles. In the case of acupuncture,

the recovery speed after injury is very good because it precisely finds the damaged area and gives microstimulation. After acupuncture, you will find through several papers that it is more effective when electrical stimulation of an appropriate size and wavelength is applied to the area. In addition, sports taping that helps the muscles and tendons in the area to rest and bend exercise shows a better effect. Sports taping is a special product that exactly matches the elasticity of human skin and muscles, so it has very good effects with few side effects on muscle problems.
If you go to the golf course and play golf, and you don't bring water or bring less water, it's really hard. This is especially true in hot, dry desert climates like California. In addition, there are many cases where it is difficult because of hunger on the golf course or eating heavy food. In this situation, I would like to introduce a more effective way to replenish moisture and nutrients.
Whether on the golf course or any other exercise, it is important to hydrate before you feel thirsty. The point at which we feel thirsty is felt after the body has already dehydrated, and even if we drink water after feeling thirsty, it takes at least 20-30 minutes for it to be delivered to our arms and legs. Therefore, it is necessary to drink a little water from time to time before you are thirsty. In order to increase the absorption rate of water, it is more advantageous to drink room temperature water rather than very cold ice water. Conversely, it is also important to avoid coffee, which accelerates dehydration symptoms. Coffee contains caffeine, which, when consumed intensely, has a diuretic effect, which causes the body to expel water through urine. If you play golf in the morning, it is often seen that you drink two cups of strong espresso as soon as you arrive at the golf course. In this case, the water in the body decreases rapidly, and the strength of the muscles decreases, and cramps in the calf or back muscles are common. If you sprain your back or have severe muscle pain while playing golf, you should check to see if you drank too much caffeine or energy drinks that day. I participated in a PGA Tour tournament as the doctor of professional K.J Choi, and I've never seen any pro players drinking coffee on the morning of the game.
In addition, since the amount of salt released through sweat is significant, it is also necessary to consume adequate salt. If you just keep adding water on a hot day, the salt in the blood is not enough, so the muscles are prone to cramps, and the strength of the muscles is inevitably lacking, and you become more mentally tired. Another option is to drink a sports drink such as Gatorade, which contains plenty of electrolytes, along with water.
You should also think carefully about what you eat on the golf course. Our body makes energy from sugar, and carbohydrates are the nutrient that can be converted to sugar the most quickly. Conversely, although fat and protein are nutrients that our body needs, their conversion rate into energy sources is relatively slow compared to carbohydrates. Therefore, it is better to avoid eating foods such as bread and cookies when you are hungry on the golf course because they are protein and fat after all, such as jerky, cheese, and peanuts.
For this reason, even PGA pros enjoy eating bananas during games. This is because bananas are rich in carbohydrates and water and have adequate minerals and fiber. Other fruits that are high in water and sugar are also good choices. This is the reason why I eat a lot of cherry tomatoes or tangerines that are good to eat at once.
Conversely, it is best to avoid foods that take a long time to chew and require time to digest. All golf swings should be made when there is nothing in the mouth. Rice cakes such as Injeolmi, a snack that has a lot of powder and takes time to chew, remain in the mouth for a long time and are not recommended as they cause coughing. This is because even a small taste or food remaining in the mouth can be the main culprit that impairs concentration when swinging. Sandwiches with meat and cheese, which require time to digest, are also not a good choice on the golf course. If a significant amount of food enters the stomach and requires
a lot of stomach exercise, the blood that has to go to the arms and legs for the golf swing may not be enough. If that happens, of course, the strength of the muscles decreases or it is easy to get cramps. Finally, let's think about the beer we usually drink while playing golf. The main component of beer is water, with some carbonic acid and about 5% alcohol. It can be said that it is good in terms of water intake and body temperature control mentioned above, and moderate carbonation is a good choice to give a refreshing feeling. Although it is different for each person, drinking an appropriate amount of alcohol relieves tension and sometimes hits the shot better. But there are downsides too. Alcohol has a diuretic effect and, like coffee, causes dehydration, so drinking beer often means going to the bathroom. If the diuretic action is excessive, as in the case of coffee, muscle weakness and muscle cramps are likely to occur. Also, if you drink too much alcohol, you can relax too much and can't concentrate on the game, so you have to control it yourself. In conclusion, beer is not very helpful for golf itself other than water intake, so you should take good care of yourself.
When you go to the golf course, prepare enough water at a suitable temperature, and sports drinks such as Gatorade are also good. However, coffee should be limited to one cup because of caffeine. For food, prepare carbohydrate foods such as bread, which are easily absorbed and digestible, and avoid foods high in protein, fat, and flour. For this reason, bananas are a good choice. Beer is helpful for rehydration, but alcohol can cause problems such as diuresis and poor concentration, so be careful.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL CHECKLISTS SHOULD INCLUDE COVID VACCINATIONS
BY THE WE CAN DO THIS COVID-19 PUBLIC EDUCATION CAMPAIGN
The new school year is quickly approaching. In addition to buying pencils and notebooks and putting school clothes in order, getting kids vaccinated against COVID-19 is an essential step for getting back into the classroom. All children 6 months and older are eligible for COVID vaccines, and children ages 5 and older who have already been vaccinated are eligible for a booster for continued protection.
As of August 25, CDC data showed that roughly 30 percent of children ages 5 through 11 are fully vaccinated, and among them only 4 percent have received their first booster dose.
To increase vaccine and booster uptake across the country, the We Can Do This COVID-19 Public Education
Campaign continues to engage community-based organizations as partners.
“Getting children vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 is an important step in protecting their health and safety in and outside of school while also providing safe measures to other loved ones, especially for Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) families living in multigenerational homes,” said Jeffrey Caballero, MPH, executive director of the Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO).
AAPCHO provides education to members and partners through their Community Health Worker
(CHW) Workforce Collaborative. Led by Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and communitybased organizations, CHW is an initiative aimed at expanding COVID-19 vaccine outreach and driving education initiatives that serve vulnerable AANHPI communities, providing services from health education to interpretation and referrals.
“For families looking to provide vaccines and boosters to their children as they get back to school, but face barriers when it comes to language, or access to proper resources and information, it’s important that we do our best to serve those in the community," said Caballero.
Parents should know getting their children vaccinated will:
• Protect their child. Getting vaccinated can help prevent serious illness and keep children learning in-person for the entire school year. COVID vaccines were developed with safety as a top priority, and side effects are generally mild, if they occur at all.
• Protect the whole family, including vulnerable members of the household. Getting vaccinated protects children, relatives, and other care providers in the household, as well as other friends and loved ones children spend time with.
• Help avoid interruptions to in-person learning. Asymptomatic, vaccinated close contacts may not need to quarantine at home following an exposure to someone with COVID. Getting vaccinated helps students and staff remain safely in school.
• Help prevent extracurriculars, sports, and other activities from getting canceled. Activities like sports, band, and chorus can be safer and more likely to continue uninterrupted if all participants are up to date with COVID vaccines.
• Allow children to keep doing the things they love. Getting vaccinated can keep children from missing out on the fun of childhood—like sleepovers, birthday parties, sporting events and more.
As children get back to the classroom, they may be exposed to COVID more often. Parents can consider providing their child a comfortable, well-fitting mask to
wear for additional protection. Parents should also keep kids home and get them tested if they have symptoms of COVID or have been exposed to someone who tested positive.
Vaccines are available at no cost to everyone age 6 months or older living in the United States, no matter their immigration or health insurance status. For more information and to find a vaccine, visit www.vaccines. gov.
