A Warm Welcome to The Irish Golf Guide Welcome to the second issue of the Irish Golf Guide. This magazine has been designed to help the local and National golfer in selecting and finding the course they wish to play in Ireland. It gives each golf club the chance to showcase their course and facilities with superb photography and enough information to whet the appetite of any golfer or group of golfers who wish to visit. The Irish Golf Guide has been brought to you by the people who publish the Costa del Sol Golf Guide in Spain, and the North West Golf Guide, and Yorkshire Golf Guide in the UK. This formula has worked for many years in Spain and is proving a similar success in the North of England. This bi-monthly magazine contains in depth reviews of Golf Clubs, Local and International News items, and special promotions. A select number of courses each issue have editorial’s describing the course, the facilities and signature holes and contain the directions to
the course. These editorials are the chance for each club to highlight itself and detail any offers and deals they have running during that period. The magazine is listed in alphabetical order, with the showcase courses being colour coded by the areas they are in. These areas are Leinster, Munster, Connaught and Ulster. The full golf course listing is also featured in the magazine containing the address, phone number, email and website of every golf course in Ireland. The Golf Guide is aimed at golfers of all levels from professionals, club players, beginners and societies. We hope that you will find this free publication an enjoyable read, and a must for choosing your golfing calendar of events in Ireland for 2011 and beyond. The next issue will be available from all golf clubs, and select golf shops, driving ranges and hotels from the start of June. Happy golfing from all at the Irish Golf Guide!

Close to the house are the Rose Garden Lodges and the Club Rooms, the original hunting stables of the old estate and now the heart of Mount Juliets sporting and leisure activities. This part of Ireland has very strong Norman associations, particularly with the great Butler family, who have played a large part in the history of Mount Juliet. The estate as we know it today was originally two separate estates, Walton’s Grove and Ballylinch, each with its own separate history.
Best Parkland Golf Course in Ireland Mount Juliet Golf Course opened in 1991 with a match featuring golfing legends Christy O’Connor Snr. and Jack Nicklaus. The beautiful and challenging Mount Juliet golf course has established itself as a premier golfing venue for Top Professionals and leisure golfers worldwide. Chosen as the first and only Jack Nicklaus signature golf course in Ireland, the “Golden Bear” was meticulous and pain-staking in his design and overseeing of the construction of his great creation. In preparation for the WGC - American Express Golf Championship that was held here in September 2002 and again in 2004, the Jack Nicklaus design team instigated some extensions and new features to the course, showing Mount Juliet’s continued pursuit of golfing excellence.

EUROPEAN TOUR NEWS
Europe on top of the world The last time it happened was in March 1992, but the seemingly unparalleled achievement of Europe’s previous golden generation in occupying the top four positions in the Official World Golf Ranking was recently equalled by a new and massively ambitious band of brothers.
Suddenly, Kaymer is all the rage in his native Germany, where the major newspapers trumpeted the 26 year old from Düsseldorf as ‘our new golfing giant’ and a ‘golfing titan’ who has taken over the mantle of Tiger Woods. Following on from The European Tour’s season of outstanding achievement in 2010, Europe’s finest continue to draw inspiration from the Major Championship victories by McDowell and Kaymer as well as a thrilling Ryder Cup victory in Wales. Only 14 players have scaled the ultimate pinnacle and become Number One in the near 25 year history of the World Ranking. Now Europeans have filled that prized position for the past 18 weeks with first Westwood and now Kaymer sitting proudly on the summit. Martin Kaymer. ©TaylorMade
For Ian Woosnam, Sir Nick Faldo, José Maria Olazábal and Seve Ballesteros, now read Martin Kaymer, Lee Westwood, Luke Donald & Graeme McDowell. It seems that success does, indeed, breed success as first Kaymer replaced Westwood as official World Number One for the first time and then Donald defeated the German in the final of the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship to climb to a career-high third place.
In the Official World Golf Ranking published for Week 11 - 13th March 2011, Europeans account for six of the first eight places (Paul Casey seventh and Rory McIlroy eighth) while no fewer than ten Europeans and 12 European Tour Members in total, including South Africans Ernie Els and Retief Goosen, are filling slots within the top 20. Donald, who succeeded fellow Englishman Ian Poulter as the latest winner of a prestigious World Golf Championship, expressed his belief that last year’s achievements have acted as a spur for the rest of The European Tour.

EUROPEAN TOUR NEWS
“The World Ranking makes very nice reading right now, for me and a lot of other Europeans.” Graeme McDowell
“Having your peers doing exceptionally well does give you inspiration” declared the 33 year old, who beat Kaymer 3 and 2 in Arizona just 24 hours after his Ryder Cup team-mate had been anointed as World Number One. “It’s a motivator and hopefully we can all keep pushing each other forward.” He continued: “European golfers have enjoyed a purple patch in the world game lately and it’s great to see. Having Lee as World Number One a few months ago was great, and now we have Martin up there and Graeme’s been playing well and I am just delighted to be a part of it. “It’s a great feeling to keep this WGC title in English hands. To jump six places in the Ranking from ninth to third feels incredible and in terms of my work ethic and wanting it, I feel I deserve it. It’s fun for the players and fun for the fans as well.”
Almost exactly 25 years since the Official World Golf Ranking came into existence, Germany can lay claim to the first and most recent Number One. In April 1986 it was the redoubtable Langer who captured the coveted Number One spot and stayed there for a further two weeks. Now, Germany’s newest golfing superstar enjoys the view from the top at the age of 26 and Kaymer insisted: “It is great to have four Europeans at the top of the World Ranking and even better to see my name right at the top of the list.” “It makes me very proud as a European but most of all a German. For so long, Tiger (Woods) and Phil (Mickelson) have been Numbers One and Two, so it’s great for us to change that. Lee, Luke and Graeme have all played consistently well for the past few seasons so hopefully we can stay up the Ranking for a little while yet.” Kaymer admitted that the enormity of his
achievement has not quite sunk in yet. He said: “You might have to ask me in a month! I am going to enjoy it for however long it lasts although it doesn’t feel real at the moment.” McDowell, the US Open Champion, admitted: “The World Ranking makes very nice reading right now, for me and a lot of other Europeans. If someone had told me that at some point in my career I would be World Number Four I’d be very proud and that’s exactly how I am feeling right now.” Certainly the world order has changed considerably since 1992, when the soon-to-be Masters Champion Woosnam led the pack from Faldo, Olazábal and Ballesteros with Langer in sixth position behind Fred Couples. That week, the top 50 consisted of 27 Americans, 12 Europeans and 11 from the rest of the world. Recently the breakdown shows an equal number of Europeans and Americans.

“He’s never been in the hot seat... and this is a hot seat.” Butch Harmon on Sean Foley
Tiger’s coach Sean Foley under fire
Tiger Woods’ new swing coach, Sean Foley, has copped a lot of criticism of late, but it’s no less than he expected. Foley says that when he first started working with Woods last August at the PGA Championship, he knew exactly what he was letting himself in for. “When I started with Tiger, I didn’t think it would be a month and then he’d kill everyone,” he said. “Remember, I got him right after Akron, the low point of his professional career.” Foley is referring to last year at Firestone, where Woods compiled the worst 72hole score of his career (298) and finished up tied for 78th in an 80-man field.
Not too long after that, Foley stopped reading golf stories and kept the volume turned down whenever he watched golf on TV. Even ignoring these measures, he says the criticism doesn’t affect him. “Look, I’m a Canadian who at 19 was a white kid at an all-black university,” said Foley, who attended Tennessee State. “This couldn’t even be called criticism what I’m going through now.” Woods has been showing some signs of resurgence lately, including a final-round 66 at the WGC-Cadillac Championship and an eight under par better-ball score of 64 in the two-day Tavistock Cup alongside Indian Arjun Atwal. But that’s not set to end the growing debate around Woods’ swing changes and whether he is on the right path just yet.
Some point out that Hank Haney received just as much criticism for his work with Tiger back in 2004, but that it eventually paid off handsomely for Woods, who went on to win six more major tournaments. Yet another of Tiger’s former coaches, Butch Harmon, had some advice for Foley, who he reckons has the toughest job with Woods yet, coming as it does after all the personal trials the former world number one has had to face. Harmon said he advised Foley to ignore the media, and to accept both praise and criticism in equal measure - and to expect much less of the former. “He’s never been in the hot seat,” Harmon said. “And this is a hot seat.”

LADIES EUROPEAN TOUR NEWS
Alison Nicholas 2011 Solheim Cup Captain With just months remaining until the biennial match at Killeen Castle in Ireland, Europe’s Solheim Cup captain speaks about Annika, attitude and bringing the trophy home. It’s going to be fantastic to be at home and be the home captain. The home advantage with the support of the fans is going to be huge for us. I know a lot of people that are coming to the event. There’s a big group from Yorkshire, a group from Cheshire and then the Irish supporters will be fantastic because they are so passionate about the game and so it is going to be tremendous for the European team. It will be great going to the Kraft Nabisco Championship at the end of March. I’m going to see Annika, who is one of my vice-captains, to chat to her and connect with as many players as possible. I’m also going to the Comunitat Valenciana European Nations Cup, Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open, Evian Masters presented by Société Genérale, the Ricoh Women’s British Open and the AIB Ladies Irish Open. I’ll be connecting with the players that make the automatic spots and watching various players that I’m interested in, in terms of my captain’s picks. I will just see how the players perform under pressure and if their game suits Killeen. It’s the whole team. My picks will be players that are in form more than anything. I’m due to discuss everything with Annika at the Kraft Nabisco Championship to get her input and thoughts about the team and Captain’s picks. Twitter. Annika suggested that I go on Twitter which I have done but I do not perhaps write on it enough. I will make a greater effort over the next seven months as the
main run of activities start building up. Annika is very good at the business side and need to take a leaf out of her book. European winners. I am confident that the Europeans will win many tournaments this season and I know the girls are really up for The Solheim Cup, so this should be an exciting season for all to watch as all the players prepare to play their way into the European side. Underdogs. I do think that we are the underdogs again if you look at the two potential sides on paper in relation to the world rankings, the Americans have a very, very good side and we can never underestimate them and it is going to be a tough match. We proved last time that we can compete right up there with them and we have a bunch of exciting young players coming through so it is going to be exciting. I don’t feel the heat. I feel much more relaxed about my captaincy this time because I have experienced what it is like in the heat of Solheim week in that role. So I know what to expect which helps enormously, however I will not take my foot off the pedal and will still prepare as well as last time but in a much more relaxed fashion. Singles. I will be talking to all the players and tapping into my Vice-Captains’ ideas relating to the singles and see what we can come up with. The past is for reference: nothing more. It does not shape the future so we need to move on and not get stuck there.

Shane Lowry Profile Shane, from Clara, Co. Offaly in Ireland, began playing golf at the age of 13 having been inspired by his uncles who were avid fans of the game. For many years Shane “played a bit of everything, including rugby, soccer, and his two favourites, Gaelic football and hurling.
player Profile
player Profile
The Irish Golf Guide
“Shane became only the third amateur to win a European Tour title - when he captured The 3 Irish Open at County Louth Golf Club in Baltray.”
Whereas he claims to never have excelled in those sports, Shane played each at top levels, before realising that golf was his true calling. His first handicap was 18, before getting down to 12 by the end of his first year. Shane was single figures before his 15th birthday (handicap 8). Each year this would drop, to 4, then 2, and scratch for the first time when he was 18 years old. While on a golf scholarship at University College Dublin in 2007, Shane studied Sports Management, before turning his attention, full-time, to the golf course. Shane enjoyed great successes on the amateur circuits, including winning the prestigious Irish Close Championship in 2007 by beating Niall Turner 4 and 3 in the final. Lowry was also part of the Ireland Team that won the European Amateur Team Championship in 2007 and then retained the title in 2008. Individual successes a plenty were to follow in 2008. Shane claimed the West of Ireland Championship with a 2 and 1 win over Mullingar’s Dessie Morgan at Rosses Point, while also winning the North of Ireland Championship, beating Andrew Morris on the final hole at Royal Portrush. Later in 2008, Shane captured the prestigious Sotogrande Cup after a sudden-death play-off. He became the second successive Irish winner when he birdied the fifth extra hole to beat Benjamin Herbert of France and don the traditional yellow jacket awarded to the winner. These fine wins, along with the Mullingar Scratch Cup (which he won by eight shots!), helped Shane rise to a career
high sixth in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
Personal Details
In May 2009, Lowry’s exact handicap was +5.3, but his golfing career was to take a huge leap forward. Shane became only the third amateur to win a European Tour title - when he captured The 3 Irish Open at County Louth Golf Club in Baltray. Aged 22, Lowry beat England’s Robert Rock at the third play-off hole.
Date of Birth: 2 April 1987 Residence: Clara, Co. Offaly, Ireland Turned Professional: May 2009 (+5.3) Home Club: Esker Hills GC Interests: All sports, especially Gaelic football and Hurling. Enjoys relaxing with close friends in his spare time
Shane decided to turn pro only days after winning the 3 Irish Open, and joined Horizon Sports Management in the process. Shanes home win gave him a two-year European Tour exemption. In the six months that followed his decision to turn pro, Lowry gained invaluable experience and steadily matured as a player. As Shane found his feet amongst the seasoned pro’s, he made eight cuts on his way to finishing 153rd in the Order of Merit, a fine achievement in only half a season. Shane was invited to play in the Japanese Tour’s Dunlop Phoenix Tournament. This was Lowry’s last event of the 2009 season, and his best result – Shane finished 3rd, beaten only by the 2008 European Tour’s Order of Merit winner, Robert Karlsson, and the 2009 Challenge Tour’s Order of Merit Winner, Edoardo Molinari. Shane is now enjoying his first ‘full’ season as a professional on the European Tour and has two clear targets: to continuously improve his world ranking position and make it into the top-100; and make it into the European Tour’s season ending Dubai World Championship.
Career Highlights 2010 4th, Abu Dhabi Golf Championship 7th, Barclays Scottish Open 2009 3rd, Dunlop Phoenix Tournament in Japan Winner, 3 Irish Open (European Tour, while still an amateur) 2008 Winner, West of Ireland Championship (Rosses Point) Winner, North of Ireland Championship (Royal Portrush) Winner, Sotogrande Nations Cup (Spain) Winner, Mullingar Scratch Cup 2007 & 2008 Winner European Team Championships 2007 Winner Irish Close Championship (Cork GC)

The Maguire Twins Hone in on 2011 PING Junior Solheim Cup places
LADIES EUROPEAN TOUR NEWS
Sixteen year-old Lisa Maguire moved a significant step closer to earning a place in the European team for this year’s PING Junior Solheim Cup, to be played in her home country, at Knightsbrook Resort Spa & Golf Hotel, Co. Meath, Ireland, on September 20-21, when she defeated French teenager, Emilie Alonso, by one hole in the final of the Spanish International Ladies’ Amateur Championship at Sherry Golf, Jerez de la Frontera. Maguire’s victory gave her 80 points and an early lead on the official qualifying list for this year’s PING Junior Solheim Cup match and she could well be joined in the team by her twin sister, Leona, who is currently in third place on the Official Ranking after claiming a share of third place in the stroke play stages at Sherry Golf before losing out by 6 & 4 to Alonso in the quarter finals of the subsequent match play series. Both Maguire twins, from Slieve Russell, are bidding to make their second appearances in the biennial PING Junior Solheim Cup match, having made their debuts as 14 year-olds during the USA’s 15 ½ - 8 ½ victory over Europe in the 2009 match at Aurora Golf Club in Illinois. The Maguire sisters are widely regarded as two of Europe’s leading amateurs and they lived up to that reputation with fine performances at Sherry Golf in what was the first of seven official qualifying events for this year’s PING Junior Solheim Cup. Lisa and Leona will be looking to consolidate their places at the next qualifying event, the Irish Girls’ Under-18 Championship, to be played at Knightsbrook on April 9-10. event, the Girls’ British Open Amateur Championship, at Gullane on August 8-12, will earn automatic places in Europe’s side to face the Americans in what is the sixth match in a series stretching back to 2002. A further six wild card players will be selected before August 15. Leona Maguire, who arrived in Spain as No. 5 on the official Women’s World Amateur Golf Rankings after a remarkable 15-shot victory in this year’s Portuguese Ladies’ Amateur Championship, posted rounds of 74 and 72 to finish third, behind France’s Ines Lescudier and Vicki Troeltsch, in the stroke play stages. She went on to defeat Spaniard, Mandy Goyos, and Frenchwoman, Alexandra Bonetti, in the match play stages before losing heavily to Alonso a couple of days later.
It was left to Lisa to gain revenge on behalf of her twin sister. She needed 21 holes to defeat compatriot, Danielle McVeigh, in the opening round but then crushed Frenchwoman, Luna Sobrón, 6 & 4 before edging out another fellow Curtis Cup team member, Holly Clyburn, on the 21st having never been ahead until the third extra hole. In the semi-finals the eventual winner defeated Germany’s Antonio Scherer 5 & 3 before claiming the title after an engrossing final against Alonso in which there was never more than one hole between the two competitors. “I am absolutely thrilled,” Lisa told Brian Keogh, golf correspondent for the Belfast Telegraph. “It was a terrific match and I really had to hold my nerve.” The PING Junior Solheim Cup, which is open to girls born in 1993 or later, always takes place immediately ahead of The Solheim Cup, this year due to be played at Killeen Castle from September 23-25, 2011, just 15 minutes’ drive from Knightsbrook Hotel Spa & Golf Resort. PING is the title sponsor, the Irish Ladies Golf Union is the Official Host, Twenty Eleven IGPL is the Promoter and Knightsbrook Hotel Spa & Golf Resort is the Official Venue.

Pat Errity European Senior Tour
My name is Pat Errity. In October 2010 I gained my European Senior Tour card for the 2011 season. I set myself this goal two years ago, and was delighted to get it on my first attempt. I have played amateur golf all my life, having success in winning the Leinster Youths title, Munster mid-amateur championship and the Irish mid-amateur championship twice. I have also represented Leinster and Wicklow on numerous occasions. My season starts in June and continues to November, I will get to play about fifteen tournaments starting in England and ending
The European Club
in Mauritius. The 2011 tournament started last November in Australia, therefore most of the guys will have a five tournament start over me which will make it difficult to retain my card. As part of my preparation I have started a strict gym and practice routine which I hope will stand to me as I have five tournaments in a row from the 1st of June. I play most of my golf at The European Club and will represent them on tour. Delgany Golf Club was my home club for the past 20 years, which is where I first met Eammon Darcy who has been my mentor and indeed encouraged me to go to
tour school. Eammon and I are looking forward to travelling together to the tournaments and it will be a great help to me to have him there. I will also have my brother David caddying for me. Since turning pro some companies such as Titleist and Srixon have been supportive of me and have provided me with some equipment. I estimate the cost of playing the tour this season will be around â‚Ź20,000 which I will have to try to fund myself as sponsors are hard to find in this economic climate. Nevertheless I am really excited and looking forward to a new era in my golfing career.

Ireland Regional Overview
Ireland Ireland is the third largest island in Europe, and the twentieth largest island in the world. Historically, Ireland is divided into four ancient provinces, Leinster, Munster, Connaught and Ulster. There are thirtytwo counties within those provinces. For tourism the country is divided into regions which may cross over provinces. This history is reflected in the warm hospitality, underrated delicious traditional dishes, brilliant music, and beautiful landscape. Whether enjoying a morning breakfast at a B&B, downing a pint or two in a pub, experiencing the local artists, or hiking along a seaside cliff, it is hard not to feel a part of the dramatic culture and rich history that is Ireland. Throughout the entire island of Ireland there are thousands of lakes and rivers that are natural wonders. In addition, Ireland’s ancient past makes it an archeological paradise, with many sites dating back thousands of years. There is so much to
explore and experience, that no matter where you travel in Ireland, it will be a fantastic exploration, with unsurpassed hospitality. The scenery is ever changing, simply spectacular, and literally unfolds before your eyes. All over Ireland you can enjoy the outdoors from fishing to golf, horse riding to water sports. Local eateries offer a wide range of food from simple to fine dining. However, whether plain or fancy, the fare is usually fresh, often home grown, and absolutely fantastic. Ireland is a golfer’s paradise - if you are prepared for changing weather, strong winds and challenging courses. The older Irish courses are legend, the new ones getting there. Choosing the perfect courses for a golfing tour of Ireland is a hard task, that is why The Irish Golf Guide is your perfect partner for choosing the course that is right for you. Whether you want famous links courses, classic parkland or luxurious golf resorts, Ireland has it all.

ARKLOW Golf Links
How to Find Follow the M50/M11 southbound and continue onto the N11 southbound. Take the first exit for Arklow. Cross Hoey’s bridge and take left up South Quay. Turn right up S. Green to junction. Take left facing Dainty Bakery Shop onto Tinahask Road. Take next right up Tinahask Road Lower. Take right fork at The Wicklow Baptist Church up St Michael’s Tce. Head straight up the hill and into Arklow Golf Links.
Arklow Golf Club was formed in 1927. Since the very beginning, the Club has extended a warm and inviting welcome to all of its visitors from at home and from overseas. Your friends at Arklow will ensure that your visit is much more than a great round of golf. South Wicklow’s beauty, the adjacent Irish Sea, reasonable rates and extraordinary service will guarantee your personal satisfaction above all else. This traditional links was originally formed by Hawtree & Taylor and has evolved with the aid of inputs from Eddie Hackett and in recent times Eddie Connaughton. The links has been described as a hidden jewel and the
Southern Region of the Irish PGA held their 2001 and 2002 Championships on this links. Signature Hole Hole 2, Par 4, ‘The Graveyard’ This is a stiff test as the green is unsighted from the tee due to a large dune. It is best to drive to the left of the fairway which avoids heavy rough on right and opens up a good view of the green. Difficult undulations on the green make this a tough par 4 and well worthy of its Index 6. The name derives from the distant past when it was an animal graveyard. Designer and five times (5) Open Champion J H Taylor considered this hole to be the best test of golf on the course.

Athlone
From the East: Follow signs for Galway on the M6 motorway. Continue past Athlone on the bypass. Cross over the River Shannon bridge and take the Roscommon Exit (N61). Continue towards Roscommon for approximately 5kms. Athlone Golf Club is well sign posted and located to your right.
Athlone Golf Club was founded in 1892 making it one of the longest established clubs in the country. It is a superb 18-hole parkland course situated on the shores of Lough Ree in the centre of the country bounded on three sides by picturesque Lough Ree. Beautifully designed, the course exploits the natural splendour of its surroundings, affording from its vantage points and from the modern strategically appointed clubhouse, with panoramic views of the lake and its wooded islands. Its tree-lined fairways and undulating terrain make it a true test of golf for all standards of golfer.
Athlone Golf Club has hosted many provincial and national championships, including the All-Ireland Cups and Shields Finals in 1998. Also, in 2007, the All Ireland Mixed and All Ireland Ladies Championships were held here. Signature Hole: 13th, 396m par 4. A severe dogleg right to left, you drive over “the saddle” into a valley. The braver you are with your tee shot, the shorter the blind approach to the relatively small green, protected by a bunker to the left and mounds and hollows to the right. A par is a great score on any day. Anything higher and you will want to go back and play it again… but differently!

Located in the grounds of this Dublin hotel, The Christy O’ Connor Jnr Championship course is a first class test of golf in a wonderful parkland setting covering a distance of over 6,010 yards. This par 69 course offers the combination of perfectly manicured fairways, superb putting surfaces and beautiful trees that provide the golfer with a wonderful and inspiring golf experience. Our expert Golf Team are always on hand to provide assistance for any of your needs whether it be a day out with friends, group & society outings or special corporate & charity events.
The 18th Hole is one of the great finishing holes in Ireland. As the golfer stands on the tee-box, they are faced with an inspirational par 4 that demands an acute level of accuracy. To successfully hit the fairway from the tee, the golfer must manoeuvre their ball through a narrow gap that is protected by mature trees on both sides, while at the same time avoiding the first of two lakes that runs down the left hand side of the fairway. Having successfully hit the fairway, the golfer is then faced with a daunting 2nd shot to the green, the main obstacle being a lake that runs right up to the front edge of the green. A good score at this hole will certainly make the 19th hole even more enjoyable.

The club has hosted most of Ireland’s major championships in it’s long and venerable history. Three large beaches beneath the cliffs keep the Atlantic Ocean at bay. Benbulben Mountain competes with the ocean for scenic splendour on the land side.
2011 Open Weeks
The Championship Course was designed by Harry Colt in 1927. Over the years, County Sligo has attracted some of golf’s most illustrious exponents, and the holders of 41 of Golf’s Major Championships have pitted their skills against Harry Colt’s design. The

wind from the sea is a constant factor but the 3rd, 5th, 10th and 14th holes have very satisfying downhill drives to compensate. The 9 hole Bomore Course was added in 1999 and has become very popular with members and visitors alike. These holes present a very different challenge - the prickly gorse bushes and numerous water hazards await an errant drive. The terrain is flat and mostly below sea level and is regarded as a very challenging test. The newly constructed Bomore driving range is adjacent to the first tee, this superb facility is a tremendous addition to the complex.

There are few places in the world that encapsulate the true spirit of the game of golf like Druids Heath. The Mountains, Sea and rolling Irish Countryside provide stunning vistas throughout your round. The sea breeze calls for shot-making skills and imagination from the golfer.
In the words of Pat Ruddy “Druids Heath affords the player the opportunity to stride-out in a place which is invigorating to both body and soul with the ever present sea breezes adding greatly to a sporting challenge, which is quite difficult to concentrate on as the eye wanders eagerly fifty miles out to sea, twenty miles southwards over an unspoiled, rolling pastoral scene to Wicklow Head and inland to the Wicklow Mountains. Dull would he be of soul who would allow a few stray shots spoil a day in such a blessed spot”. Venue for the 2006 Irish PGA Championship, Druids Heath has played host to many of the worlds leading Tour Players.

02. How to Find
Dooks
Dooks Golf Club is very easy to find as it is situated on the famous Ring of Kerry Road, about 5 miles from Killorglin and two or three miles before you come to Glenbeigh, on the right hand side
Golf has been played in Dooks since 1889. The golf links is set out on one of the three stretches of sand dunes at the head of Dingle bay. In the immediate foreground are the sand dune peninsulas of Rossbeigh and Inch and just a few miles away the whitewashed houses of Cromane fishing village provide an eye catching distraction. South eastwards are the famed McGillycuddy’s Reeks, to the Southwest are the lovely cooms and hills of Glenbeigh and across the bay to the north are the Slieve Mish and Dingle mountains. A truly magical location for a stunning golf course.
Dooks Golf Links is not as exposed as some Irish courses and features and amazing variety of gorse, heather and wild flowers, the “gentle” wind is never far away and the narrow genuine sandy fairways and well contoured greens offer you a real taste of traditional golf at its very best. Signature Hole: The 18th Par 4. An awesome par 4 into the prevailing wind. Drive over the hill towards the chimneys in the distance. From the top of the hill admire the vista while you prepare to hit a full shot to the green. For shorter drives lay up short of the dunes and chip close.

Major focal points of the course are the secluded 4th and 6th holes, which are isolated from the remainder of the course by a meandering stream, drawing the golfer into a difficult shot to the green; indeed the aforementioned 6th remains one of the best inland par fours in Ireland. The Club plays host to many outings during
the year and can provide first class food and drink in a friendly atmosphere. It is this friendliness which members cherish among themselves and which ensures that visitors are made to feel welcome. Signature Hole: Hole 6 - Par 4 - 382 Metres The elevated tee yields a beautiful view of this well protected green, surrounded by river (front), as well as bunkers and ponds. But don’t spend too much time enjoying the scenery. Try to leave approach short of pin, as the green slopes strongly from back to front. Par is a good score, as danger lurks around every turn...

Enniscrone
From Dublin take N4 for Sligo. Just before Sligo turn off at Colloney for Ballina. In the 40 minute journey from here you will pass through Dromore West before taking a right turn for Enniscrone. Enniscrone is 55km from Sligo Regional Airport. From Knock Airport (56km), follow the signpost for Swinford. Travel through Swinford, Foxford and then Ballina. Enniscrone is 13km from Ballina, off the R297 Enniscrone-Ballina road.
Facilities Enniscrone Golf Club is located in County Sligo in Northwest Ireland. Situated beside the picturesque seaside town of Enniscrone (also spelt as Inniscrone), the golf course affords panoramic views of Killala Bay, Bartra Island and sandy beaches with Nephin and the Ox Mountains forming the backdrop. Founded in 1918, redesigned by Eddie Hackett in 1974 and by Donald Steel in 2001, this Irish championship course is one of Ireland’s finest authentic golf links. Apart from the championship links known as The Dunes, there is also the splendid 9 hole Scurmore course. After the adventures through The
Dunes or the Scurmore Course, the clubhouse is the ideal place to relax for refreshment and restore the energy levels. The recently refurbished Clubhouse and Restaurant offer a friendly and welcoming atmosphere with extensive views over the Course. Signature Hole 16th - The Long Bank, Par 5 , 514 Yards A tough but straight forward par 5, where keeping the ball on the fairway a must. The second shot should favour the right hand side to leave the best approach, as club selection can vary greatly to the green which is wide but very shallow.

From Cork Airport Take the E30 as far as the Cobh Exit, approximately nine miles (15 kilometres) east of Cork. Follow the R264 towards Cobh for approximately two miles (three kilometres). Follow signs for Fota Island Golf Club and the resort is on the left.
Fota Island Golf Club is just a few minutes drive from Cork City’s international airport. Located in the heart of a 780 acre estate which is included in “The Inventory of Outstanding Landscapes in Ireland”. The splendid woodlands are woven into three challenging championship courses which are very much in the traditional mode, featuring strategically placed bunkers and undulating putting surfaces. The Deerpark Course at Fota Island Golf Club with its receptive greens and strategic bunkering impresses even the most experienced professionals. The Deerpark was proud to host the Irish Open in 2001 and 2002.
The Belvelly Course at Fota Island Resort, a Par 72 course stretching over 7121 yards from the championship tees, includes the new ninehole layout also developed by Jeff Howes. The Barryscourt Course at Fota Island Resort, a Par 73 course, also incorporates the new nine-hole layout. Signature Hole: Hole 10, Deerpark Course. A lovely down hill par 5, needs a tee shot down the right side of the fairway to comfortably reach this green in 2. The second shot is very dangerous to the green, with water short right and over the back. A good risk reward hole.

GALWAY BAY
How to Find
The Natural water hazard is the Atlantic Ocean; such is the dramatic backdrop to this Par 72 PGA Championship 18 hole golf course that is Galway Bay Golf Resort. When designing the course, former Ryder Cup and World Cup golfer Christy O’Connor Jnr superbly blended the stunning backdrop of Galway Bay and the rugged curves of the Atlantic coastline with gentle undulating mounding along the fairways, water hazards, concealed bunkers and highly acclaimed putting surfaces. With variable wind speed and directions this Championship Galway golf course plays
differently each day posing a considerable challenge to even the lowest handicap golfers, yet it is a true and fair test of golf. After your round you can savour the moment with fond memories in the clubhouse looking out on the spectacular course as it winds its way along the shoreline of Galway Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Signature Hole: Hole 14. The par 5 14th is the signature hole playing 555 yards from the tips. The risk and reward left to right dog leg layout allows those who are able to cut the corner out over the bay to easily reach the green in two.

Hollywood Lakes Golf Club is located on the outskirts of Ballyboughal village, in North County Dublin. It lies within a 20 minute drive from Dublin Airport. Consequently, it is ideally located for golfers travelling from abroad.
Combine this element of the design with a multitude of trees and it is easy to see where the challenge emanates from. A full bar and catering service is available in the friendly atmosphere of the clubhouse.
Designed by Mel Flanagan, who made major improvements during 2002, this 18-hole parkland golf course measures 6707 yards from the championship tees including a 641 yard par 5 and comprises a par of 72. This course is truly a test for every category of golfer. Currently there are 11 lakes and water features that sees water impact on 9 out of the 18 holes.
Our signature hole in most members’ eyes would be our 8th. Measuring just 379 yards it is a dog leg left and its degree of difficulty has increased since the introduction of a new bunker to the left of the green just in front of the water. A three wood off the tee leaves a mid-iron to a green which slopes from back to front and no matter where you are on the green you will have a very slick putt.

How to Find
Killarney
On leaving Cork Airport: Follow the signs Cork N27. Drive down hill towards the city until Junction with N25 (South Ring). Take the slip road before the Roundabout signposted Killarney, West Cork. Continue on this road (N22), bypassing Ballincollig. On arrival in Killarney, at the roundabout, take the 2nd exit towards Tralee and Limerick. At the roundabout, drive straight through (signpost for Killorglin) and right again at the next roundabout, still heading for Killorglin. The Club is approx 1km on this road and the entrance is on the left.
The Golf & Fishing Club Killarney Golf & Fishing Club has a spectacular lakeside location next to the National Park approximately 3 km from Killarney town centre on the Killorglin - Ring of Kerry Road. Killarney Golf & Fishing Club is one of the oldest, well established and internationally recognised Clubs in Ireland. It has a membership of over 1,700 members from all over the world and the Club’s location is one of the most enviable in the World. With 3 Championship courses the Killarney Golf & Fishing Club can offer 3 totally unique options and challenges to the golfer.
The Killeen course is very much the flagship course at the club. The Killarney lakes and high mountain range provide an imposing backdrop to this Championship course. Reopened in June 2006 the course is slightly longer with faster greens that have been brought closer to the water hazards around the course. At 6564 metres it will challenge long hitters with accuracy being vital as there is water on virtually every hole. Nick Faldo on winning The Irish Open in 1991 was one of only three players to finish under par. The challenging golf is matched by the spectacular views with the 10th being a firm favourite where you are playing virtually onto the lake.

Lackabane is the newest of the three courses at the Killarney Golf & Fishing Club. This Parkland course opened officially for play
in 2000. Lakes and streams are a feature throughout the length and breadth of the course, adding beauty and danger in equal measure. At 6410 metres off the very back tees the long game will be tested to the full, as competitors in the 2002 Ladies Irish Open and the European Ryder Cup Challenge Tour participants experienced in 2005. Signature Hole: Mahony’s Point the shortest of the three courses at 6,800 yards is a lakeside course with spectacular views including the famous, breathtaking 18th described by Gene Sarazen as “one of the most memorable holes in the world”.

Monkstown Golf Club rejoices in its distinguished history and its unique setting overlooking Cork’s glorious harbour. The antiquity of the site is evoked by the ruins of the old castle which provided the members with a distinctive club-house before the ravages of time turned the grand old building into an un-inhabitable place.
Signature Hole 16th hole, Par 3, 172 metres. Stunning shot over water to a back drop of mature trees
The shell that remains is a poignant reminder of past glories and of the once-proud building that enhanced such a glorious and significant site when it was built in 1636. It is fitting that its outline should form the crest of a club that was founded in 1908.

This extraordinary golfing retreat is located in the seclusion and beauty of a once world famous stud farm. However it is not only the tranquillity that makes it such a special setting; the golf course is set amidst a myriad of stunning mature trees, impressive bunkering and exquisite use of water. Palmerstown House truly is a golfer’s paradise. The Palmerstown House Estate is comprised of 800 acres of magnificent countryside that has been nurtured for generations to create a setting of splendid undulating meadows that are broken by forests of wonderful woodlands, sparkling lakes and
sinuous streams. Course designer Christy O’Connor Junior weaves the golfing tapestry effortlessly without disturbing any of this great estates magnificent character and charm. Christy O’Connor Junior singles out the 7th hole as one of his favourites. To ensure that the golfer is not faced with a blind second shot it is necessary to try and reach the corner of the dogleg with the tee shot. The golfer is then left with a short approach into a small contoured green. He calls this green ‘his fun green’ and with three different levels and a myriad of slopes and contours it is crucial for the golfer to land their approach shot as close to the pin as possible.

How to Find
SeaPoint
From Dublin: Get onto the M1 heading North and continue through the Toll Plaza and across the Boyne Suspension Bridge. Take the Drogheda North Exit. Then take the right hand exit (Monasterboice) from the first roundabout. Go straight at next roundabout. At the 3rd roundabout take the first left for the Monasterboice exit. Continue on this road and follow the signs to Termonfeckin. When you arrive in Termonfeckin you will be opposite a church. Turn left and cross a hump back bridge. Take the next right which will be signposted for Seapoint Golf Club which is 1 mile further on the right hand side. The challenge at Seapoint begins from the first tee embarking onto a testing 7,150 yard Par 72 course set on 260 acres of magnificent links land. There is an abundance of natural vegetation and wonderful dunes awaiting any errant shot. Every club in the bag is required to play this championship course. Progress through a front nine with a slightly heath land feel with an abundance of gorse and mature tress lining the boundary of the course. Water comes into play on 5 of the holes. The back nine drift close to the sea and are characterised by uneven fairways, thick rough and deep bunkers, requiring
accuracy both off the tee and into the greens. Continuing home to the clubhouse presents little time to relax with the last three holes weaving through dunes and distracting the golfer with panoramic views and a strong sea breeze - pure links enjoyment. Signature Hole: Hole 11, Par 4. Placement off the tee is key at this hole, find the left hand side of the fairway just short of the bunker and you are in prime position. Be careful with the second shot as it is uphill and players tend to come up short. This is a beautiful par 4 and you will travel a long way to find one better.

Forming part of a magnificent 300 acre estate, including 50 acres of lakes, our highly acclaimed 18-hole championship course is sensitively wrapped around the lakes and the drumlins of the County Cavan landscape. The course presents a wonderful challenge and the devilishly tricky greens present a searching examination of accurate approach play, which adds to the enjoyment factor.
The Slieve Russell Hotel Golf & Country Club has hosted some major European Challenge Tour and Irish PGA Tournaments. These include, the Buzz.com North West of Ireland Open, the Irish PGA Championship and also the Quinn Insurance PGA Charity Pro-Am, which has been held since 1997 and has now become an annual event and boasts the highest prize fund for Irish PGA Professionals.
Not surprisingly the complex has always proved very popular with visiting golf groups from all over Ireland, the UK and Europe and many return on a regular basis to sample our renowned hospitality.
Whilst every hole on the golf course is a challenge, the par 5 13th is the signature hole with its fairway hugging the shores of one of the course’s natural lakes offering a risk/reward opportunity on every shot.

From the M50: Continue to the very end of the M50, following signs for Malahide. You are now on the N32. Go straight through the traffic lights at Clare Hall. Keep straight, passing through one small roundabout. At next roundabout, take the 3rd exit in the direction of Donaghmede. Turn right at the T-Junction and take the 1st left onto Raheny Road. Go straight at traffic lights and turn left at T-Junction onto Watermill Road. Keep straight at traffic lights that bring you onto the Causeway Road. The entrance to St. Anne’s is on the left hand side. St. Anne’s Golf Club is an impressive links with a par of 71. There is not one ’pushover’ hole on the entire course and wind conditions can be a major factor in how the course is played. There are 408 Golf clubs in Ireland, but only 53 of these are links courses, and St. Anne’s are proud to be one of this exclusive ’club’.
with a new state-of-the-art clubhouse and significant development to the course itself. This included the building of five new greens and eight new tee complexes. The sacred turf of the old Croke Park pitch was used to great effect in developing, strengthening and giving real definition to the back nine in St. Anne’s.
The unique setting of this famous old links, with the splendid panoramic views of Howth Head and across Dublin Bay to the Wicklow mountains, ensures a most relaxing and enjoyable game. Founded in 1921, it is a member-owned golf club. In 2003 an extensive redevelopment of the course was completed,
Hole 7, “Brent”, Par 4, 472 yards (Blue Tee). The seventh hole is surely one of the strongest Par 4’s in North County Dublin. This long demanding hole requires an accurate drive to the right hand side of the fairway in order to set up a shot to the semi blind green. To play this hole in par is a delight whatever your handicap.

Five lakes and a stream meander through the course and brings water into play on 10 holes. 98 beautifully shaped bunkers and 7,000 trees adorn the landscape, which is very gently undulating without any climbing involved. A variety of tees allow the course to be played from 5,747 to 7,319 yards.

Signature Holes: Hole 4, Par 3, 214 yards (Blue tee) Signature hole 214 yard par 3 from the Championship tee. Green protected on left with large bunker complex, and a large lake to the right and behind. Prevailing wind tends to push tee shot towards lake on right. Hole 18, Par 4, 447 yards (Blue tee) A demanding tee shot with lake on left side of fairway. A slight draw here off the tee sets you up for an approach shot to a green, tucked up against the lake with heavy bunkering on the right. A very intimidating finishing hole!

How to Find
Designed by Arnold Palmer, The Palmer Ryder Cup Course and The Palmer Smurfit Course are considered two of Europe’s finest Championship Courses. Golf Holidays in Ireland are not complete without a visit to The K Club, lets face it where else can you play The Ryder Cup and European Open Golf Courses at one venue? A unique statement of fact! The Palmer Ryder Cup Course is, quite simply, one of Europe’s most spectacular courses. Regularly ranked in the top 3 parkland golf courses in Ireland, this Palmer designed golf haven is a must play ‘badge of honour’ that has hosted the top golf players in the world.
The Ryder Cup in 2006 and 11 European Opens testify the importance of The Palmer Ryder Cup Course to European Golf. The best way to describe The Palmer Smurfit Course at The K Club is that of an inland links. However, its true attributes do not stop there. The Course has many dramatic landscapes with dune type mounding throughout, assisting in making this a true Championship Golf Course with many vantage points for spectators to view the Golf Professional at work. In essence the Course is entirely different from The Palmer Ryder Cup Course located just across the River Liffey.

The Old Course, “Championship golf at it’s finest”. It is widely accepted that in 1938 when Captain H.C.C. Tippet laid out Tramore Golf Course something special was created. Visitors over years have spoken fondly of their favourite holes and when Henry Cotton played Harry Bradshaw here in 1937 he described the Par 4, 17th hole as “one of the finest golf holes he had played”. That’s why in 2006 when course designer Jeff Howes was awarded the contract to remodel the original 18 holes it was on the strict understanding that he could only enhance what was already there. Those who are familiar with
TRAMORE
the old course marvel at the result and all are in agreement that Jeff Howes excelled at his task. Although the Newtown 9 Hole Course is a relatively new addition at Tramore, early comments are very favorable and a round of golf on it is “Highly Recommended” Signature Holes At 344 meters the Par 4, 17th requires a good drive up the right hand side as access to the green is restricted by tall trees on the left. The elevated green is protected by a bunker at the front and trees at the rear calling for a high degree of accuracy with your second shot.

The Irish Golf Guide
Leinster Introduction
Leinster The province of Leinster takes in an area from the southern border of Northern Ireland through to the sunny south east corner of the island of Ireland, with over one and a half million people living in the vibrant, not to be missed city of Dublin and its surrounding areas alone. Leinster takes in the counties of Carlow, Dublin & Dublin City, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford & Wicklow. It has a long sea coast, stretching from Carlingford Bay in County Louth to Hook Head in County Wexford. Leinster is probably best viewed as a series of sub regions, each sub region encapsulating its own local geography, unique landscape and separate but co-joined history. From the ancient Hill of Tara and the world famous stone age site at Newgrange, at 5000 years old it is considered to be one the oldest man made structures in the world, to the vibrant and stylish city of Kilkenny and then to Wicklow, the famous
‘Garden of Ireland’, there are an amazing number of historical and fascinating places to visit for both the golfer and non-golfer alike. Dublin, it’s Capital is a county as well as a city and sprawls over a large part of this area. From the superb nightlife to the modern museums and art galleries, great little sea-side resorts along the coast, the lavish gardens of Howth Castle, or the unique and wonderful collection of Irish furniture and paintings at Malahide Castle - its all here in a city not to be missed. From a golfing perspective, there are more courses in Leinster than any other province in Ireland. With plenty of great links courses such as Arklow, Seapoint and St Annes, to the large inland golf resorts of Druid’s Glen, Mount Juliet and Carton House, not forgetting the reknowned K Club near Dublin, where The Ryder Cup was won so emphatically by Europe in 2006, Leinster has plenty of variety to challenge golfers of all levels.
“From a golfing perspective, there are more courses in Leinster than any other province in Ireland.”

The Irish Golf Guide
Connaught Introduction
Connaught The province of Connaught (Connacht) lies in the West of Ireland with its coastline on the Atlantic Ocean. The counties of Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim, Galway and Roscommon are within its boundary. Historically, Connaught has retained its rich Gaelic heritage and today still has communities where the Irish language is spoken. These regions are collectively called the Gaeltacht. Connaught has some of the most beautiful and unspoilt countryside to be found in Ireland, including the spectacular mountainous landscape of Connemara. The primary business centre of Connaught, and most densely populated area, is the thriving city of Galway to the south of the province. Galway is the capital of the West of Ireland. The streets and buildings of this ancient town have many interesting features, and its position on
the edge of the Gaeltacht makes it the gateway to magnificent areas such as Connemara, Corrib country, and the Aran Islands. The city itself is a continuing centre of growth with its University, Institute of Technology, Theatres, Cathedral, Castle, Hotels, Docks, Industries as well as other interesting attractions. As for golf, the dramatic scenery and splendour of the Connaught region has created wonderful natural landscapes for golf course designers to hone their skills. Like all areas in the west of Ireland, the first obstacle to a good score is Mother Nature herself. The golfer will find that he or she will not alone have to contend with the cunning and guile of architect allied to the terrain, but must adjust for what is benignly known in local parlance as the “westerly breeze” coming straight across three thousand miles of Atlantic Ocean.
“Some of the most beautiful & unspoilt countryside to be found in Ireland...”

The Irish Golf Guide
Munster Introduction
Munster Munster is the southern most province of Ireland and is home to 6 of the 32 counties – Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Wareford and Tipperary. All the counties in Munster touch the Atlantic except for Tipperary – tha largest county in Ireland. Cork is the second largest county in Ireland and is also the second largest city. Other cities in the province include Limerick and Waterford. The major towns are Tralee, Killarney, Ennis, Clonmel and Thurles. Cork has a population of over 160,000 people. Like Venice the city is built upon the waters, and Cork centre is built on an island in the River Lee, just upstream of Cork Harbour. The two channels of the River Lee which embrace the city centre are spanned by many bridges, and this gives the city a distinctive continental air. However it is often said of Cork City that it has all the amenities of a large city, but still manages to retain its pleasant atmosphere and extreme friendliness, which you will experience on your visit. Cork is a city of
remarkable charm, and the visitor cannot fail to be captivated by its hilly streets, bumpy bridges and peaceful backwaters. Munster is a tremendously fertile area of Ireland with many major rivers including the Bandon, the Lee, the Blackwater, the Suir and the final stages of the Shannon and its spectacular Lough Derg which is a border point of Munster, Connacht and Leinster. Munster has a number of mountain ranges and includes the largest peak in Ireland - Carrauntoohil in Kerry’s majestic MacGillycuddy Reeks. Sport is almost regarded as a religion in Munster. The Gaelic Athletic Association - GAA - was formed in Thurles, Co.Tipperary and all Munster counties are passionate about their hurling and gaelic football. Munster rugby unites all the six counties and their followers and supporters are known the world over. There are golf courses to suit every golfer throughout Munster, from fine parkland courses
and resorts such as Killarney and Mahoneys’s Point in Kerry and Fota Island Golf and Country Club, Lee Valley and Monkstown in Cork. The province is also home to several spectacular and world reknowned links courses including Tralee, Waterville and Dooks in County Kerry, all situated on the wild Atlantic coast.

The Irish Golf Guide
Ulster Introduction
Ulster From the natural wonders of the Giants Causeway and the Marble Arch caves, to the country houses and gardens of Castleward, Mount Stewart and Florencecourt, the glorious sandy beaches on the Antrim coast and the tranquil shores of Lough Erne and Strangford Lough, right across to the spectacular and rugged coastline of Donegal there is much to see and do in this varied and beautiful province of Ulster. There are the bustling and colourful cities of Belfast and Londonderry, with their many stylish bars, restaurants, hotels and many historical attractions. However, if you’re looking for breathtaking scenery, the Antrim Coast really is as impressive as its reputation suggests. It is one of the most beautiful shorelines in Ireland, winding past towering cliffs, sandy beaches, picturesque harbours and family resorts. Inland lies Lough Neagh, the largest lake in Great Britain and Ireland and the Fermanagh lakelands, sprinkled with tiny islands, wooded parks and monastic ruins.
On the west coast lies Donegal, with its breathtaking misty mountains, serene lakes and dramatic coastlines. Donegal boasts a vast rugged coastline softened regularly by a succession of beautiful beaches with golden sand and clear fresh waters. Inland, Donegal is wild and unspoilt with winding roads leading to never-ending spectacular vistas. Major attractions include Glenveagh National Park and Castle, Tory Island, Glebe House and Gallery, Colmcille Heritage Centre, Fort Dunree Military Museum and Abbey Mill Wheels. Letterkenny, County Donegal’s largest town, has a vibrant atmosphere. It’s a great place to shop for everything from high street fashions to quality handcrafted goods and designer clothes - alternatively, you can relax and enjoy a coffee in one of Letterkenny’s many continental-style cafes. Seaside resorts like Bundoran provide a change of mood - if you’re looking for lively nights filled with music, song and dance, then Bundoran is the place to go.
The golf courses in Ulster contain an impressive mix of quality Parkland, Heathland and Links courses, and in Royal Portrush and Royal County Down, two world renowned golf courses along with Ballyliffin and Rosapenna in Donegal, all of which offer a spectacular links challenge to keep golfers from both sides of the Atlantic returning to these shores again and again.

Travel Spain > Costa del Sol
Costa del Sol Spain
The Costa del Sol lies in the province of Andalucia in the south of Spain. This is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. This ‘Sun Coast’ runs for 150 km from Malaga to Estepona, with skies predominantly blue all year round and brilliant sunshine. Costa del Sol offers a series of large beaches, coves hidden amongst cliffs, famous leisure marinas such as ‘Puerto Banus’ and tranquil fishing ports.
In the provincial capital, Malaga, stands the military fortress of the Alcazaba, built by the Moors in the 11th century. At the far end of the Costa del Sol is the geographical & political oddity Gibraltar, with visits to see the Barbary Apes and abundant military history. This great diversity means that it has something to offer just about everyone, with enough entertainment and variety to please all types of visitor.
The Mediterranean sea is warm and safe and the hills and high mountains shelter the coastline, these elements allow for an all year micro climate making it the perfect location for golf. Known to many as the ‘Costa del Golf’ due to the outstanding choice of luxury golf courses set along this coastline, with over 50 to choose from you will have to keep returning to experience them all.
