Paramore recently earned a Grammy Award nomination for “Ain’t It Fun,” the RIAA platinumcertified Top 10 hit single from the Paramore album, receiving a “Best Rock Song” nod for the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. In addition, Williams was named the first winner of Billboard’s “Trailblazer Award,” honoring her as a standout female artist who breaks from convention to make a unique mark and pave the way for new talent. The Trailblazer Award was presented last month in New York City as part of the ninth annual Billboard Women In Music Awards.

The band's self-titled album exploded to the apex of the SoundScan/Billboard 200 upon its April 2013 release – the band’s first #1 album to date. One of the biggest and best-organized annual events is the The Hofstra Irish Festival, to take place this year on March 15 from 11 am to 5 pm at Hofstra University in Hempstead. music, food, and culture to America.

NYC/Queens: Of course, the event that attracts the most publicity is the annual New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade, which will likely become its usual public vomit-fest by its end; it kicks off around 11 am and will be broadHofstra cast on WNBC (Channel Irish Festival 4). The massive parade can be viewed on 5th Avenue between 44th Street and 79th Street.

Expect super-heavy bus and subway activity both before and especially after the parade's end; bring your galoshes.

Unbeknownst to some, there were other St. Patrick's parade options: The annual Queens County St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a smaller yet enjoyable affair … that gets missed by thousands as it takes place on the NYC Parade

first Saturday in March, a full 10 days before the actual holiday.

Of course, Manhattan is packed withthe most famous Irish pubs Martin Flynn outside of County Cork: McSorley's Old Ale House, Tír Na Nóg, Finnegans Wake, Dempsey's Pub, Doc Watson's, The Wheeltapper, and Paddy Reilly's Music Bar spring to mind. Most of these venues also serve authentic Irish cuisine to go long with brews and ales from the old country.

Just remember: If you imbibe, be safe getting home.

Hot Tub Time Machine 2

Starring Craig Robinson, Rob Corddry, Clark Duke, Chevy Chase, Adam Scott, Collette Wolfe, Kelle Stewart Directed by Steve Pink Paramount/MGM

We said it at the end of our review in our last issue for the truly dispicable The Wedding Ringer, and we'll state it again now: It's beginning to feel that there hasn't been a truly funny or memorable comedy made in at least two decades. Hollywood has reached the point where if it issues anything at all, it's a repeat – which brings us to Hot Tub Time Machine 2, the humor equivalent of a clogged toilet.

Apparently, Paramount realizes this insipid sequel is a dog; the day before the film's release, the movie's actual hype website proclaimed “Coming Christmas 2014,” which means they delayed the opening of this waterlogged wreck. The only person connected with the Hot Tub Time Machine franchise that seems to have smartened up here is John Cusack, the original cast member who didn’t participate in the re-do. Cusack's role of Adam has been replaced by blank-faced Adam Scott – who has starred in everything from HBO's desperate sex drama “Tell Me You Love Me” to “Parks & Recreation” – as, well, Adam Jr. The fact that Adam Jr. seems to be about four years younger than Adam Sr. is

only the start of the problems.

It really doesn't matter who attempts to act in this sordid type of weak comedy, since “acting” only means standing there between dirty jokes and doing one of three things: screaming, ogling, or swearing. Robinson, who is a born second banana but who somehow has been thrust into lead roles of late, is the new Dudley Dickerson, famous for

showing up in Three Stooges films just to comically scream in terror; Robinson seems to be cast in movies solely for his ability to yell or howl at least twice per movie, because heaven knows he had the thespian chops of a broken jacuzzi filter.

Oh, yeah, the magical hot tub that can take people back in time; gee, what a funny concept – only this time, the tub can go into the future! Cars think for themselves!

Laughing yet? No? Well, just wait – our four “ hilarious” lead characters are ripped from their new successful lives, reunited, and get shot into 2025, where they encounter more scantily clad babes and tasteless groin-related humor than in an entire season of “Jackass ...” ... which is what you'll be if you spend $12 on this swill. Rather than wasting your time reading any more about this junk, here's a photo of bit player Bianca Haase in her underwear. There, saved you some time.

For the influential TBS (as their fans call them), happiness being able to tour with your friends and perform for thousands of diehard fans night-after-night. he world can rejoice now that Floyd Mayweather has agreed to fight Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas on May 2. Since Pacquiao already has some losses on his record, it’s crucial to the boxing and pay-perview industries that Mayweather stay undefeated at all costs ... for now, at least.

My guess is that Pacquiao will outbox Mayweather, but the judges will award the fight to Floyd in a split decision. The inevitable outrage from the public and the media, which the promoters and fighters will be counting on, will spur a rematch which will even do better business. Manny will win that bout, which of course will set the stage for the rubber match

omen's Day: The Professional Women’s Bowling Association Tour will re-launch in 2015, featuring seven regular-season events, three nationally televised majors, and stops from coast to coast.

The PWBA Tour schedule will kick off with the United States Bowling Congress Queens from May 13 through 19, and conclude with the PWBA Tour Championship from September 10 through 13.

“The dream now is a reality and professional women’s bowling is back for a new generation to experience,” said Kelly Kulick, a six-time major champion who serves as PWBA spokeswoman.

“The tour schedule visits all types of cities across the country with a format that is fun for fans and allows women to be pro bowlers without sacrificing their career path or family time.”

PWBA regular-season events have a Friday through Sunday format to allow PWBA members to bowl tour stops and have flexibility for work or family obligations during the week. Regular-season events will have $60,000 in guaranteed prize money per event with a $10,000 first-place prize.

The closest stop on the PWBA tour for 2015 will be August 31 through September 6 for the Bowlmor AMF U.S. Women's Open at Brunswick Zone Carolier Lanes in North Brunswick, New Jersey.

The PWBA Tour is made possible thanks to a threeyear funding commitment from the USBC and Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America. The PWBA regular season will be live streamed online via USBC’s YouTube channel, BowlTV, while the USBC Queens finals will be televised live on ESPN2.

The Bowlmor AMF U.S. Women’s Open and PWBA Tour Championship finals will be televised on a national cable sports network. Details of the television partnership will be announced soon.

The problem that boxing will now face is whether boxing fans will want to pony up any pay-per-view money for pedestrian bouts with such headliners as Vladimir Klitschko, Bryant Jennings, Sergio Martinez, Miguel Cotto, Adrian Broner, and Danny Garcia, who are now the biggest names in the sport.

Some of the most idiotic sportswriting comes out of spring training, where the beat guys from the dailies have to write features about nearly every player on a roster. Each story inevitably discusses how a given player has to prove any of the following: last year’s good season was not a fluke; last year’s bad season was a fluke; or that the player was injured last year but now feels 100 percent like his old self, and can’t wait to prove it to the fans. If that weren’t bad enough, over in Tampa every New York Yankees scribe is going to have to obsess over every move that Alex Rodriguez makes. We’ll probably learn of what his favorite meals are and what movies he went to see in Tampa. “A-Rod” was on the cover of last week’s ESPN The Magazine, while New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey rgaced the cover of a recent USA Today Sports Weekly.

After a slightly longer than average hiatus, I’m back to give you the low-down on what you wanna know. Lots of stuff has been happing in recent weeks, including the 24-hour DJ set from Jack U and the release of their new album on iTunes. Although the release date was supposed to be later, they dropped this surprise on us during their day-long set which got cut short by the police after 18 hours.

But anyways, first I want to talk to ya’ll about the Datsik show I went to the other week. It was a very well rounded, powerhouse lineup of Kennedy Jones, Barely Alive, and Datsik at the F Shed in Syracuse, NY. It had the mixture of trap and dubstep that I like to see in shows, giving you the ability to go crazy but to also get down and dance if you want to. One thing I really like about Datsik is that he doesn’t just stick to EDM. He often tends to throw in old school hiphop and popular songs and then takes them and mixes them up with EDM songs. Datsik also has a certain flow about him. His transitions are smooth, yet he someone crosses over different genres with different BPMs. He also brought his signature lighting/stage setup, DJing from within his Vortex of video mapped screens. Unfortunately, the show ended rather early at 11 pm.

Luckily for me though, Barely Alive was playing a set at the Westcott Theater; not too far away from the F Shed. My friend and I headed over there fore a more intimate experience. The F Shed venue holds several thousand people in it where the Westcott Theater can only accommodate a few hundred. With that smaller space comes a closer experience with the artists. You feel immersed in their set and you can literally make eye contact with the artists themselves. Kennedy Jones joined in on the fun, making it a set run by the two artists who preceded Datsik at the F Shed. One thing I really liked about the after-party was the fact that it actually had a party vibe. I didn’t feel like I was

at a concert, I felt like I was with a large group of people just having fun and interacting with each other.

There were a good amount of people on stage and everyone was just enjoying themselves. That’s what I like to see in a concert and I definitely felt the trip to Syracuse was worth it to see this crew of artists.

With that being said, I will be checking out Excision this week and will promptly update you on how that goes.

With all this free time I’ve had in the past, I’ve been able to explore lots of different songs and sounds and get some new music to share with you! Now, this would be a column without me making a plug for myself, right? Anyways, I’ve been working with my friend for a while and we’ve finally released our edit of “Most Pit” by Flosstradamus. It’s a twerk edit of the original and goes hard; exactly what you want. You can check it out at either my Soundcloud account (soundcloud.com/Schwaygar) or his (soundcloud.com/bigmakmuzik). I’ve definitely been getting a lot more into trap and twerk recently and that can easily be seen in the music that I’ve been downloading. I have very high praise for RL Grime’s new album, “VOID”, which has its set of bangers as well as more mellow, chill trap music.

Fun fact: If you like the song “Kingpin” feat. Big Sean, that was produced by RL Grime. There’s a solid variety on that album and I consistently place “Core” and Will Sparks

“Scylia” when I DJ as those have the hard-hitting bass needed to get the crowd going. In on the topic of hard-hitting bass, the “Party UP (GTA Remix)” is the go to song to get any show jumping and dancing.

There’s so much energy in this song that it’s pretty hard to contain yourself when it gets played. Some other songs to check out that go in are “Take U There (TroyBoi Remix)”

Allie It's not often that a 19-year-old Martocci; On YouTube pop newcomer can headline at the (inset) hot venue Revolution, but that's exactly what happened on March 7 when singer/songwriter Allie Martocci wowed the crowd in her Amityville debut. Displaying a cool rock/pop vibe that belies her years, Martocci is already a touring artist, performing in venues in Boston, Connecticut, and New York, often sharing the stage with top teen pop artists.

The Perfect Storm: Christine’s New Hit

Pop/rock artist Christine Storm has released a new single, “Shoulda Coulda Woulda (The Remix).” The pop/rock track features vocals by Storm with traces of the classic rock which has influenced her and the dance-infused pop sound of her new music.

Debbie Harry will perform a 10-night residency at Café Carlyle in New York City from Tuesday, March 24 through Saturday April 4, marking her debut at the famous cabaret inside the historic Carlyle Hotel on the Upper East Side. Her show will be of material that she doesn't usually get to perform with Blondie – much of which will be from her solo albums – mixed with a few surprises. Meet Guantanamo Baywatch

What’s In A Name:

No gimmicks here: Portland, Oregon's Guantanamo Baywatch has built its reputation on wrangling up a ribald mishmash of classic surf instrumentation and brash garage rock; their new album, Darling … It's Too Late, hits stores on May 12.

“Oldies weren’t lo-fi,” said Guantanamo Baywatch guitarist and vocalist Jason Powell. “We really wanted a mixtape compilation sound to the record.” That approach can be heard in both the songwriting and the production; according to Powell, each song was approached with all the amps and the EQs on the recording console zeroed out. That meant that every song was recorded with a new template. The title track and lead single, “Too Late,” captures this aesthetic.

Country Mary Sarah In Serious Demand: The just-ended year of 2014 was quite the productive one for country music newcomer Mary Sarah. At just 19 years old, she has already sung a lifetime of country music. The proof is in Bridges, the Texas native’s album of 12 duets with the architects of the country genre.

The list of names on the album is dizzying: Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Vince Gill, Tanya Tucker, and the late Ray Price are among those who, duly impressed and charmed by Mary Sarah’s voice, lent their own to the album.

“Mary Sarah is a beautiful young lady with a beautiful voice,” said Willie Nelson, who sang with the future star on his Mary Sarah timeless ballad, “Crazy.”

It’s songs of that caliber that make up Bridges, from Haggard’s “The Fightin’ Side Of Me” and Vince Gill’s “Go Rest High On That Mountain” to Parton’s “Jolene,” and Tucker’s “Texas (When I Die).”

The Oak Ridge Boys, who collaborate on “Dream On,” were among the first legends to recognize the poised teen’s talent, praising her “impeccable” voice that “soars like an angel” after seeing a performance by Mary Sarah — who already has amassed thousands of followers on Twitter — on YouTube.

“I got to where I’m at through social media and miracles,” says Mary Sarah with a smile. “I’ve been singing since I was 8 years old, touring and posting my performances on YouTube.”

Floored by what he heard, the Oaks’ Joe Bonsall tweeted Mary Sarah an invitation to join them at their show — and later surprised her by asking her onstage.

“They asked me to sing at their concert that night. It was incredible,” she said. “My love of the legends of country music grew, and that’s how this project was born.”

A disciple of classic country storytelling, Mary Sarah found a mentor in Freddy Powers, the songwriter behind such staples as

COMEDY Haggard’s “I Always Get Lucky With You,” as well as a friend to some of country’s biggest names.

As executive producer of Bridges, he helped Mary Sarah assemble her duet partners and realize her dream: introducing these songs to a new audience.

“While I was recording the album, I’d say, ‘I got to sing with Merle Haggard.’ And my friends were like, ‘Who?’” she said. “I couldn’t believe that someone might not know who Merle Haggard is. Which is why we named the project Bridges. I see it as something that spans now and then, and brings that music back over to this generation.”

Yet, the album is also a tribute of sorts to Freddy Powers, who is

suffering from Parkinson’s disease.

The final track, “All I Want To Do Is Sing My Song,” features Mary Sarah's duet with an old vocal track of Freddy’s. “I just wanted him on this album,” she said.

“Freddy Powers took a chance on me and miracle after miracle, artist after artist, signed on.”

Chief among them was Dolly Parton, who was the first to jump onboard.

“When we sat down in the studio, I was shaking,” said Mary Sarah. “She walked in and I couldn’t believe it. I was about to sing ‘Jolene’ with Dolly Parton herself!”

At its core, Bridges is all about songs like “Jolene.” Whether performed by the artists who made them famous or an 18-year-old ingénue, the dozen tracks of the album are timeless compositions.

“I want to bring back just a little bit of the old country and let people know about these songs,” said Mary Sarah. “It’s what I love and I want to connect listeners to it.”

The Hart Of Comedy: Entertainer, actor, and comedian Kevin Hart – who couldn’t be hotter, as he’s appeared on everything from “Saturday Night Live” to PBA bowling to starring in several films during the past 18 months – has announced a massive North American arena tour.

The “What Now?” tour will take the awardwinning comedian to 45 cities throughout the U.S. and Canada. Promoted by Live Nation, what is being billed as “the biggest comedy tour in history” kicks off on April 9 in San Antonio, Texas at AT&T Center, and includes dates at New York City’s Madison Square Garden as well as a stadium date in Philadelphia (his hometown) at Lincoln Financial Field. Tickets for the “What Now? “ tour on now on sale.

Locally, the tour will make a pair of stops: Kevin In addition to the date at Hart MSG on Tuesday, July 7, the next-to-last stop of the trek will be Friday, August 28 at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh.

Hart, at this writing, is clearly one of comedy’s biggest stars, with a career that has seen the rapid-fire standup reach height almost no one could have foreseen. Since his career began, Hart has worked non-stop; in 2015, he will release two movies as well as hit the road for this “What Now?” tour. Hart can currently be seen in Screen Gems’ The Wedding Ringer; this month, he will star opposite Will Farrell in Warner Bros. Pictures’ Get Hard. “For the past couple of years i have been focusing on my original music, and my influences come from a variety of genres,” said Rose, whose amazing voice can run the gamut from full-throated to silky smooth. “I have a jazz and classical background in my training as a musician, but I am also a huge fan of rock & roll. Some of my favorite artists include The Beatles, The Beach Boys, David Bowie, Billy Joel, Ella Fitzgerald, and Stevie Wonder, and I'd like to think my music encompasses some of the elements of my musical influences.”

After performing covers for years – a seeming prerequisite for getting gigs in Long Island – it can be a daunting task for a young artist to present original material. Rose, however, doesn’t seem fazed at all by the challenge.

“I work at a lot of places around the Island as a cover band/cover artist, and I am very familiar with that whole scene,” she said. “I think that it is hard to break into Long Island as an original artist unless you play covers. I play my original music at all of my gigs, but I mix them in with a set full of cover songs. It helps build my following for sure. More Long Island cover artists should do both.”

When asked where she’d like her career to be five years from now, her answer was as solid and smart and the performer herself: “I'd like to keep performing and recording my music. As long as I am still singing my songs, I will be happy.”

Still A Wonder: It is an ongoing topic at Rhythm Tracking that, for whatever reasons, many mega-stars of Motown never truly get the accolades they deserve. The Marvelettes are still not in The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame; The Supremes never received a Grammy Award, nor did a solo Diana Ross (though the Grammys finally gave her a "lifetime achievement" award in more recent times). The true musical genius that is Stevie Wonder has never really received the attention that he is due – but Lesley that all changed when CBS Gore devoted a two-hour special talent. She brought the tuxedoed featuring current stars paying audience to its feet, and brought homage to his music. Beyoncé, Andrews (who can no longer sing Lady Gaga, John Legend, Ariana because of vocal chord damage) Grande, and Jennifer Hudson to tears. All those who claimed were among many standout perthat Gaga is a talentless freak formances. As a result, Wonder's show were transformed into album sales increased by 200 stone, into pillars of salt. There is percent after the broadcast, with no stopping her now, and, as if to Songs In The Key Of Life and rub it into everyone's faces, she greatest hits titles jumping into the Top 10 of Amazon's Best Seller has signed to star in the next edition of "American Horror Story." charts.
