When was Brother&Sisters created?

Long after I had started working in public relations and as an event planner. The name is a sentimental choice, I took my brother and my best friend, who is like a sister, with me to the notary.

What are your social media followers searching for?

I don’t exactly know what my followers are searching for, but I know what they find. My most sincere and clear opinion on the things that I see, my personal sense of fashion and the music.

Three things ‘in’ and three ‘out’.

Smiling, but not at all costs, reading Andre Agassi’s Open and drinking acai berry juice, writing a letter by hand. Courting through What’sApp, wearing too much makeup, following fashions at all costs.

What are you unable to resist?

Paolino’s bomba (a pizza stuffed with tomato, mozzarella and ham) and Aurora’s spicy hot pizza all’acqua.

The places on the island you love most?

I love staying at the Tiberio Palace hotel where I experience the feeling of being at home, that I also find enjoying breakfast in the garden of the Casa di Capri guest house. I love to stay on the terrace of the J.K. Place hotel and to dine beneath Paolino’s lemon trees. I love the joy and happiness of Guido Lembo and the sunset at the lighthouse..

What do you pack for a weekend in Capri?

For me, Capri means wearing white, Dolce & Gabbana lemon prints, the classic Capri pants made at La Parisienne, blue stripes, sandals.

Quando nasce Brother&Sisters?

Molto dopo aver iniziato il lavoro di pubbliche relazioni e di event Planner. Il nome è affettivo, ho portato con me dal notaio mio fratello e la mia migliore amica che è come una sorella.

Cosa cerca chi la segue sui social?

Non so esattamente cosa cerca chi mi segue, ma so cosa trova. Il mio più sincero e limpido punto di vista sulle cose che vedo, il mio personale senso della moda e la musica.

Tre cose in e tre out.

Sorridere, ma non a tutti i costi, leggere Open di Andre Agassi e bere açai, scrivere una lettera a mano. Corteggiare attraverso What’sApp, truccarsi troppo, seguire la moda a tutti i costi.

A cosa non resiste?

Alla bomba di Paolino e alla pizza all’acqua di Aurora.

I posti dell’isola che più ama?

Amo dormire al Tiberio Palace per avere la sensazione di casa, che provo anche facendo colazione nel giardino di Casa di Capri. Amo affacciarmi alla terrazza del J.K. Place e cenare sotto la limonaia di Paolino. Amo l’allegria di Guido Lembo e il tramonto al faro.

Cosa mette in valigia per un week end a Capri?

Capri per me è bianco, i limoni di Dolce e Gabbana, i tipici pantaloni capresi de La Parisienne, le righe blu, i sandali.

Why Capri?

My grandmother, one of the most important people in my life, was Caprese. She passed her great love for her island on to me.

What are you working on right now?

I will be filming a series dedicated to the world of Hostesses, those who work in events. Then I have two theatrical projects in the works that I’m very committed to.

Something about Capri?

Together with director Giorgio Palmera I am filming a documentary that brings together the memories of people who have known the Capri of fishermen, the Capri of wartime, and finally the Capri of legend.

Your greatest passion?

The theater. I agree with Servillo who said that theater is for actors and cinema for directors, yet broadly speaking I would like to have as many diverse experiences as possible.

Your dreams?

To work with Steven Knight, director of the English series Peaky Blinders and the film Locke. To start a theater. To make a film about Capri—aside from the documentary, that is—the film that I wrote.

Places on the island to which you feel most connected?

Definitely villa La Gioia, my grandmother’s home. The Faraglioni, where she would take me for a swim. Tragara, where I had my first kiss. The passetiello, the stroll that I always take with my father at dawn. The Anema Core Tavern, a place that’s like an ode to life.

Perché Capri?

Mia nonna, una delle persone più importanti della mia vita, era caprese. Mi ha trasmesso un grandissimo amore per la sua isola.

A cosa lavora in questo momento?

Girerò una serie dedicata al mondo delle Hostess, quelle degli eventi.

Poi ho in cantiere due progetti teatrali a cui tengo molto.

Qualcosa su Capri?

Insieme al regista Giorgio Palmera sto girando un documentario in cui raccolgo le memorie di persone che hanno vissuto la Capri dei pescatori, poi la Capri della guerra e infine la Capri del mito.

La sua più grande passione?

Il teatro. Sono d’accordo con Servillo quando dice che il teatro è degli attori e il cinema è dei registi, ma in generale vorrei poter fare quante più esperienze diverse possibili.

Sogni nel cassetto?

What inspired the changes to your fish shop?

I was with my father in the Boqueria market in Barcelona and we were seized by the desire to transmit the love for our locally-caught fish through the most powerful means of communication, that is, food.

What do your customers order most often?

Our customers are very curious. I often have the feeling that want to try everything, and some do.

Instead, what do you suggest?

Raw fish. Absolutely. Our fish is always fresh and top quality; this is our strong point, after all, we are always a fish shop.

Plans for the future?

To enhance the flavors of our sea thanks to the recipes of our land, but with an eye to innovation.

Your interests aside from work?

Traveling, exploring. On the other hand, the idea of ​​the pescheria came to me while I was traveling.

What does Capri mean to you?

The woman of my life. To love forever. To defend. Just living there, every day of my life, makes me happy.

Your favorite places on the island?

Tiberio, where I was born, and Fontelina, my corner of paradise on earth. It leaves me breathless.

I spend time with the people I love.

Il crudo. Assolutamente. Il pesce è sempre fresco e di prima qualità, questo è il nostro punto di forza, siamo sempre una pescheria.

Progetti per il futuro?

Esaltare i sapori del nostro mare grazie alle ricette della nostra terra, ma con uno sguardo verso l’innovazione.

Interessi oltre il lavoro?

Viaggiare, esplorare. D’altro canto l’idea della pescheria è arrivata proprio in viaggio.

Cosa rappresenta Capri?

La donna della mia vita. Da amare per sempre. Da difendere. Respirarla e viverla ogni giorno mi rende felice.

I luoghi che preferisci dell’isola?

Tiberio, dove sono nato, e la Fontelina, il mio angolo di paradiso sulla terra. Mi lascia senza fiato.

Cosa fai quando non lavori?

Passo il tempo con le persone che amo.

How did Wonderland Capri begin?

I have always had a passion for vintage clothing. With the globalization, I believe there is a growing demand for rare and unique items.

How would you describe vintage?

Luxury, with stories to tell.

Tell us about an object in your boutique that you love in particular?

A gold cigarette case from the early 19th century, made by Fabergé, and a dress by Bob Mackie originally created for Sharon Stone.

If Capri was an item of clothing, what would it be?

A ‘70s dress, made from silk and tailored by Yves Dupuis. My grandmother was a seamstress in his atelier for years.

What corners of the island do you love the most?

I love the less touristic side, the typical “vicarielli” of Santa Teresa, the panorama from Punta Cannone. Or a walk with a swim at Punta del Capo passing, obviously, by Villa Lysis.

What can you not resist?

Long evenings in Capri’s bars, shopping and picnics. When I can, my friends and I order our picnic online from the Michel’angelo restaurant and enjoy breathtaking locations away from the chaos of the town.

Apart from your boutique, what places would you recommend for shopping in Capri?

I prefer all the local shops and places where customers can have fun creating something personal, like Fiore’s bespoke suits, Marika and Grazia Vozza’s jewellery and Aphros’ bags.

Da sempre ho la passione per il vintage. Con la moderna globalizzazione credo che ci sia una crescente richiesta di rarità ed unicità.

Come descriverebbe il vintage?

Lusso, con storie da raccontare.

Un oggetto che ama particolarmente della sua boutique?

Un porta sigarette in oro, dei primi anni del ‘900, firmato da Fabergé e un abito di Bob Mackie creato inizialmente per Sharon Stone.

Se Capri fosse un capo d’abbigliamento quale sarebbe?

Un abito degli anni ‘70, in seta, creato su misura da Yves Dupuis. Mia nonna fu sarta nel suo atelier per anni.

Quali sono gli angoli dell’isola che ama di più?

Amo il lato meno turistico, i tipici “vicarielli” di Santa Teresa, il belvedere di Punta Cannone. Oppure una passeggiata con tuffo al Capo passando, ovviamente, per Villa Lysis.

A cosa non riesce a resistere?

Alle lunghe serate nei locali capresi, allo shopping e ai picnic. Quando posso, con gli amici, lo ordiniamo online dal ristorante Michel’angelo e lo gustiamo in luoghi mozzafiato lontano dal caos del centro.

Quali posti consiglia per lo shopping a Capri oltre la sua boutique?

Prediligo tutti i negozi locali e in luoghi in cui il cliente può divertirsi a creare qualcosa di personale, come gli abiti su misura di Fiore, i gioielli di Marika e Grazia Vozza e le borse di Aphros.

Virginia Ruocco I’m always proud and aware of how fortunate a thing it is to be born and raised on the world’s most beautiful island. After having lived in Rome, London and Tokyo for university, how could one not wish to return to the tranquillity and safety that only home can offer?

Today I live, work, and share with my family a love of my little piece of paradise, a love my parents patiently passed on to me, and that daily I take with me to Carthusia, which is indelibly linked to Capri. I love this island as I love our products, and I dedicate to it the same attention that I give to them: consideration of every detail, and giving my all to the management of the Augustus Gardens.

What to recommend? An early morning walk in the Augustus and Tragara Gardens, which are unforgettable at dawn, shopping exclusively in island artisan shops, and the best dining and lodging anywhere, as courtesy and incontestable professionalism are innate factors for those who have been working in tourism for some 2,000 years.

I recommend to all my friends who come to see me to always arrive by foot, following first via Tragara and then taking the descent down to the sea. With a slightly longer walk you’ll discover the beautiful Villa Malaparte and can look up the faraglioni from a different perspective. This is my favorite view, together with the Marina Piccola.

This island is much more, however. It is home to many souls, not just the striking natural beauty of its landscapes, but also history, glamour, and fashion. Capri Hollywood, the manifestation founded by Pascal Vicedomini, is recognized as the great celebration of international cinema that brings the cream of the big screen to the stage on the island in the heart of winter. The event opens the season of global awards, from the Golden Globes to the Oscars, and presents an exceptional playbill of films chosen among the best of international and Italian production, with previews and collections for the joy of the public, granted access to the theaters of Capri and Anacapri free of charge.

Last December, the festival marked its twentieth year of activity with an exceptionally rich program. The Capri Hollywood – The International Film Festival playbill offered many films, tributes to great personalities, preview showings, special performances (such as those of Noa and Giovanni Allevi, just to mention two) and the Capri Awards ceremonies.

The absolute protagonist was Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight, which won the Best Film award. Awards were also given to actors Samuel L. Jackson and Jennifer Jason Leigh and to Ennio Morricone for the film score. The festival paid homage to Luca†De†Filippo with a special viewing of the film Sabato, domenica e lunedÏ by Lina Wertmuller (honorary President). The Chairman was the Danish film director Bille August. The legend of Brigitte Bardot was celebrated with the viewing of the film Contempt by Jean Luc Godard and an exhibition at the Casa Rossa in Anacapri. Valentina Reggio, actress and director Marco Ponti’s latest discovery and revelation in the film Io che amo solo te inspired by Luca Bianchini’s book, did the honors as patroness. The Legend Awards went to the Irish film director Jim Sheridan and the British costume designer Sandy Powell, while the Belgian actor †Matthias Schoenaerts was the Revelation of the Year. Capri, Hollywood, la kermesse fondata da Pascal Vicedomini, si conferma la grandiosa festa del cinema internazionale che, nel cuore dell’inverno, coinvolge il gotha del grande schermo sul palcoscenico dell’Isola. L’evento, inaugura la stagione delle premiazioni globali, a cominciare dai Golden Globes fino agli Oscar, e propone un eccezionale cartellone di film scelti tra i migliori titoli internazionali ed italiani, tra anteprime e rassegne, per la gioia del pubblico, a cui è consentito gratuitamente l’accesso nelle sale di Capri ed Anacapri.

Giunto lo scorso dicembre al traguardo dei suoi vent’anni con un’edizione di altissima qualità, Capri Hollywood - The International Film Festival, ha proposto un programma ricco di film, tributi a grandi personaggi, proiezioni in anteprima, speciali performance, come quelle di Noa, Giovanni Allevi, solo per citarne alcuni e premiazioni con i Capri Awards.

Protagonista assoluto è stato The Hateful Eight di Quentin Tarantino a cui, oltre al premio per il Miglior Film, il festival ha assegnato riconoscimenti a due degli attori, Samuel L. Jackson e Jennifer Jason Leigh, e alla colonna sonora di Ennio Morricone. Il festival ha reso omaggio a Luca De Filippo con una proiezione speciale del film Sabato, domenica e lunedì di Lina Wertmuller (Presidente onorario). Chairman è stato il regista danese Bille August, il mito di Brigitte Bardot è stato celebrato con la proiezione del film Il disprezzo di Jean Luc Godard e una mostra alla Casa Rossa di Anacapri.

The Royal Palace of Caserta and its park: two gems of unrivalled splendor, inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List since 1997. They also have a fascinating history, dotted with personalities who have tied their name to the Royal Palace. Designed in the 1700s by Luigi Vanvitelli upon the request of King Charles III of Bourbon, the Palace represents the celebration of Italian Baroque architecture.

The King of Naples did not actually have a palace of his own and believed that the Royal Family would benefit from Caserta’s quietness and healthy air. He also wished to fulfill his ancestors’ greatest ambition: building a residence that would rival the Palace of Versailles and, if possible, be even more sumptuous and spacious.

On January 20, 1752, King Charles III and the young Queen Maria Amalia of Saxony- in the presence of the Bishop of Caserta, the court and the regiments lined up in front of the palace to be, while the cannons fired a salvo- threw gold and silver medals in the ditch where the Royal Palace’s foundations were to be laid.

As a result, at the end of the works, a monumental complex spreading over 45,000 square meters and five floors and 36-meter high. The Palace’s highlights include the atrium with the immense La Reggia di Caserta e il suo parco: due gioielli di ineguagliabile splendore, inseriti nella World Heritage List dell’Unesco nel 1997.

Affascinante anche la loro storia, punteggiata dai grandi personaggi che da qui sono passati: progettata nel Settecento da Luigi Vanvitelli, su incarico di Carlo III di Borbone, la Reggia rappresenta il trionfo del barocco italiano.

Fu proprio il re di Napoli, che non aveva in sostanza una vera sua reggia e che riteneva che la famiglia reale avesse bisogno della quiete e dell’aria salubre propria di Caserta, a realizzare il vecchio sogno ambizioso dei suoi avi: una costruzione che ricordasse quella di Versailles, ma che si presentasse ancora più sfarzosa e ampia.

Il 20 gennaio 1752, il re Carlo III e la giovane regina Maria Amalia di Sassonia - alla presenza del vescovo di Caserta, della corte, dei reggimenti schierati lungo il perimetro della futura reggia, mentre i cannoni sparavano a salve - gettarono medaglie d’oro e d’argento nella fossa simbolica delle fondamenta della Reggia di Caserta.

Alla fine dei lavori il risultato fu un vero e proprio complesso monumentale che occupa 45.000 mq e, con i suoi cinque piani, raggiunge un’altezza di 36 m. Le parti più scenografiche della reggia sono probabil-

The grand staircase of honour is an invention of eighteenth-century stage design and connects the lower hall and upper hall from which visitors are introduced, to the left, into the royal apartments; opposite into the Palatine Chapel and, to the right, to a balustrade offering a magnificent view.

The royal apartments, furnished in both the eighteenth-century and nineteenth-century styles, are located to the left and right respectively of the Sala di Alessandro. To the right of the Sala di Alessandro is the New Apartment, so called because it was built in the early 1800s. The Old Apartment stands to the left of the Sala di Alessandro and was designed by Carlo Vanvitelli between 1779 and1790 with the help of a multitude of artists who were brilliantly able to interpret and express the art of Southern-Italian furnishing with grace and elegance. The Old Apartment showcases the Nativity Scene, an art for which the Bourbon family had a deep passion and which contributed to the well-known Neapolitan tradition of nativity-scene making.

The Palatine Chapel, designed by Vanvitelli down to the minutest decorations, is the room that bears the strongest resemblance to the Versailles model. Very interesting is also the Court Theatre.

An integral part of the Palace’s beauty and grandeur is the Park, dotted with fountains and waterfalls. The park is a typical Italian-style garden, decorated with vast lawns, square flower-beds and, above all, plays of water. Located along the park’s central axis is a spectacular suite of pools, fountains and waterfalls that culminate in the Grande Cascata. The park extends as far as the top of the hill facing the Palace, where an English Garden houses a magnificent collection of tropical plants.

Inscribed on the World Heritage List, along with the Royal Palace of Caserta and its park, are also the Aqueduct, designed by architect Luigi Vanvitelli, and the nearby San Leucio complex. mente l’insieme dell’atrio e del monumentale scalone d’onore e la cappella.

Gli Appartamenti reali, che sono composti da una parte settecentesca ed una ottocentesca, si trovano rispettivamente a sinistra ed a destra della Sala di Alessandro.

Più precisamente, a destra si apre l’Appartamento nuovo, così detto per essere stato realizzato nella prima metà dell’ottocento. L’Appartamento vecchio è invece alla sinistra della sala di Alessandro e fu curato da Carlo Vanvitelli dal 1779 al 1790 con una schiera di artisti che seppero ben interpretare ed esprimere l’arte dell’arredo meridionale con grazia ed eleganza. Nell’appartamento vecchio è esposto il presepe borbonico, grande passione della nobile famiglia dalla quale è scaturita la nota tradizione napoletana per l’allestimento della Natività.

La Cappella Palatina, progettata dal Vanvitelli fin nelle decorazioni, è di certo l’ambiente che più di ogni altro mostra una chiara analogia con il modello di Versailles. Notevole è anche il teatro di corte. Parte integrante della maestosità e della bellezza della Reggia è il Parco, composto da fontane e cascate. Il parco è un tipico esempio di giardino all’italiana, costruito con vasti prati, aiuole squadrate e, soprattutto, un trionfo di giochi d’acqua. Lungo l’asse centrale, si susseguono vasche, fontane e cascate, ornate da grandi gruppi scultorei. Ne risulta un effetto scenografico di grande impatto che raggiunge il culmine nella Grande Cascata. Il parco si estende fino alla sommità della collina antistante il palazzo, dove un Giardino Inglese fa da cornice ad una passeggiata tra piante esotiche.

Assieme alla Reggia di Caserta e al suo parco, l’Unesco ha inserito nella World Heritage List anche l’Acquedotto, sempre realizzato dall’architetto Luigi Vanvitelli e il vicino complesso di San Leucio.

At last January’s Arte Fiera show, you promoted the Terrae Motus Collection (which includes works by seventy international contemporary artists commissioned by Lucio Amelio after the region’s devastating earthquake in 1980. Ed.). What does this collection mean to you?

It is a very important part of the Royal Palace. That is why I am very keen on the new setting for the collection, after years of oblivion, in the rooms which were once used by the Air Force. It will be open to the public starting from June.

What marketing strategies are you using to attract more visitors?

The expression “cultural fruition” must be used here in the broadest meaning of the term: it does not simply apply to the site, but it should be part of a wider collaboration process between all local moving forces, in order to extend the range of services provided to citizens, including assistance to children, dog-sitting service, high-end restaurants highlighting the region’s food and wine specialties.

A wish you have not fulfilled yet?

I am waiting for the Campania Region, which gives us the summer opera season, to settle in and finally begin to seriously deal with cultural sites. Personally, I would appreciate more lawn-mower, hammer and trowel “concerts”, in order to meet the park’s maintenance needs on an everyday basis.

Al nuovo direttore Mauro Felicori – 64 anni, bolognese di nascita, dall’ottobre 2016 direttore della Reggia di Caserta - abbiamo chiesto di raccontarci come sta affrontando il progetto di valorizzazione del bellissimo complesso monumentale.

“Il segreto del mio lavoro – ci ha spiegato- è far proprio l’interesse altrui. Condividere uno sforzo, sentendosi parte di un impegno comune. Nel corso di questi mesi, è cresciuto il numero di coloro che hanno condiviso la mia strategia di rilancio e riqualifica del sito vanvitelliano. Un vero e proprio Rinascimento” A Arte Fiera lo scorso gennaio ha promosso la Collezione Terrae Motus (di cui fanno parte le opere di settanta artisti contemporanei internazionali sollecitati da Lucio Amelio dopo le devastazioni del terremoto dell’Irpinia nel 1980 ndr): cosa rappresenta per lei questa collezione?

E’ un capitolo importante della Reggia. Per questo mi sta molto a cuore il riallestimento della collezione dopo anni di oblio, presso gli ambienti che precedentemente erano destinati all’Aeronautica Militare.

Visitabile a partire da Giugno.

Quali sono le strategie che sta utilizzando per far crescere il flusso di visitatori?

La fruizione culturale deve essere intesa nella sua accezione più ampia, che non deve limitarsi semplicisticamente all’offerta del sito, bensì deve essere inserita in un’ottica sistemica di collaborazione tra tutti gli attori locali, al fine di ampliare la gamma di servizi fruibili ai cittadini: dall’assistenza ai bambini , a dog sitter, a un presidio di alta ristorazione che punti sulle eccellenze eno-gastronimiche del territorio.

Un desiderio non ancora realizzato?

Aspetto che la Regione Campania, la quale ci regala la stagione lirica estiva, finisca il suo periodo di rodaggio e incominci a interloquire sul serio con i siti culturali. A me personalmente piacerebbero anche più concerti di tagliaerba, martello e cazzuola, per rendere finalmente ordinaria la manutenzione del parco.

The most beautiful excavations in the world will host the sculptures of the great artist Gli scavi archeologici più belli del mondo accolgono le sculture del grande artista After the successful expositions at the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento and Trajan’s Forum in Rome, the next monumental exposition of Igor Mitoraj, the Franco-Polish artist who died one year ago, will be staged in the Archeological area of Pompeii. The classicism and the contemporaneity of Mitoraj’s art will establish a dialectical and harmonious link with the excavations at Pompeii. Emmanuele F. M. Emanuele, Chairman of the Fondazione Terzo Pilastro, which conceived and is promoting the event, proudly says, “This exposition was inspired by an idea developed at Agrigento by the artist and myself. Today, the excavations at Pompeii will host the monumental sculptures by Mitoraj just as the scenes in a theater host the performance of its actors.”

“Gods and mythological heroes will pace the streets and piazzas of the city buried by Vesuvius, emerging like dreams from the ruins,” continues Massimo Osanna, Director General of the Pompeii Superintendence Office, who has actively participated in the project.

“Mute and iconic symbols, the works of Mitoraj remind us, in their immanence, of the profound value of classicism in contemporary culture.” Coordinated by Stefano and Riccarda Contini of the Galleria d’Arte Contini, and under the artistic direction of Luca Pizzi, of the Atelier Mitoraj, some thirty monumental bronze sculptures will be placed in different areas of the archeological excavations: the Sanctuary of Venus, the Forum, Via dell’Abbondanza, the Terme Stabiane and the Quadriportico dei Teatri. The imposing and elegant sculptural personalities, inspired by the classic iconology of myths and legends will thus inhabit the same spaces as the architecture of ancient Pompeii: Daedalus and the Temple of Venus, the Centaur and the Forum, the Centurion at the Terme Stabiane, Winged Icarus at the Triangular Forum. A great exposition project that will bring new lymph to one of the most important archeological areas in the world.

A beautiful catalogue, with exclusive images by Giovanni Ricci-Novara and texts by Richard Cork and Eike Schmidt, will be published for the exhibition.

Like Spoon River, a “place of the soul” and of a fascinating dialogue between past and present Come Spoon River, anche luogo dell’anima e di un appassionante dialogo tra passato e presente Capri as a “place of the soul”, a true Mediterranean Spoon River: this is the theme of Dieter Richter’s Il Giardino della Memoria (“The Garden of Memories”), published by La Conchiglia – that tells of the importance of dialogue with the past.

Dieter Richter, born in 1938 in Hof, Bavaria, a literary scholar and professor emeritus at the University of Bremen, has devoted a large part of his interests to the themes of the Grand Tour and the history of the cultural topography of the landscape, as well as to ethnographic and cultural studies in Campania.

His publications privilege a comparative approach between different disciplines and cultures. Here is a chapter from his book, entitled E perché Capri? (“But why Capri?”).

“Old friends and old enemies, English, Americans, Germans, Swedes and Dutch, residents for many years, transients who came for a week and dying on the island will remain there forever, all of them lie very near to one another in that little cemetery.” It was 1927, when Compton Mackenzie, the author of “Vestal Fire”, wrote these words. The last chapter of his novel is devoted to the Non-Roman Catholic Cemetery, the place where that “community which had never imagined the possibility that a certain world could cease to exist and become deaf to the song of the Sirens” would, inevitably and finally, end. It was the world - wrote Compton Mackenzie – that had ended with the First World War, with the arrival of rumors about a strange new world whose echoes reached - as though they were coming from Babylon, or Nineveh, or Tyre – old “Miss Virginia” while she was sitting, with her long gray flounced skirt and her scarlet red parasol, on the bench near the tomb of her beloved Saidee. But this “new world” of the post-war generation was not deaf to the “song of the Sirens” and also finished its earthly journey, in the end, under the trees of the Cemetery.

Capri come luogo dell’anima, vera e propria Spoon River del Mediterraneo: è questo il tema libro di Dieder Richter- Il giardino della Memoria Edizioni La Conchiglia - che racconta l’importanza del dialogo con il passato. L’ultimo ca- pitolo del suo romanzo è dedicato al Cimitero acattolico: il luogo in cui dovrà, inevitabilmente, terminare quella «comunità che non aveva mai immaginato che un certo mondo sarebbe potuto finire e diventare sordo ai richiami delle Sirene». Era il mondo – così scrive Compton Mackenzie – finito con la Prima Guerra Mon- diale, con l’arrivo di voci di uno strano mondo nuovo i cui echi giungevano – come se prove- nissero da Babilonia, da Ninive o da Tiro – alla vecchia “Miss Virginia” mentre era seduta, con la sua lunga gonna grigia di falpalà e con l’om- brellino scarlatto, sulla panchina presso la tom- ba dell’amata Saide.

On the highest peak on Capri, by chair lift or by foot, to enjoy the most beautiful view of the island Sulla cima più alta di Capri, in seggiovia o a piedi, per godere del panorama più bello dell’isola The cloud catcher: that is how some call Monte Solaro, the highest peak on Capri (about 600 meters). It can be reached from Anacapri by taking the chairlift from 10 Via Caposcuro near Piazza Vittoria and flying over a beautiful landscape of pine trees and Mediterranean scrub bushes (from May to October: open all day from 9.30 am to 5 pm, ascent and descent 11 euros, ascent or descent only 8 euros). From here and all along the pleasant beaten-earth trail to the Cetrella hermitage (about 700 meters), surrounded by Mediterranean scrub and wild orchids, there is a marvelous view over the eastern part of Capri (Faraglioni and Villa Jovis included) with Sorrento in the background, from nearby Punta Campanella up to Mount Molare. Visibility permitting, on the left there is the entire Gulf of Naples with the other islands and Vesuvius, while on the right you can see the Gulf of Salerno with Li Galli and even farther away Punta Licosa. The hermitage, built in the fourteenth century on a natural viewpoint, is a haven of peace overlooking the sea where you can savor the silence broken only by birdsong. The name seems to have come from a typical plant of the island: citronella; the other theory is linked to the legend of there being a temple dedicated to Venus Cytherea there. The church has two naves: one dedicated to the Virgin while the other is enriched by a sixteenthcentury painting of Saint Dominic. Gli irriducibili del trekking ci vanno a piedi partendo da piazza Vittoria e calcolando almeno un’ora di percorso. Questa era la passeggiata preferita di Pablo Neruda e della sua amante, la cantante cilena Matilde Urrutia, ma in estate per le salite decisamente impegnative e il calore del sole è più raccomandabile salire in seggiovia e poi scendere a piedi. In cima il panorama è senza eguali, e ci si può rilassare sul complesso di terrazze, belvedere, solarium al bar della Canzone del cielo affacciato sui Faraglioni. Da qui e fino a raggiungere l’eremo di Cetrella lungo un piacevole sentiero di terra battuta (circa 700 metri) circondato da macchia mediterranea e orchidee selvatiche si ha uno splendido colpo d’occhio sulla parte orientale di Capri (Faraglioni e Villa Jovis inclusi) con la Penisola Sorrentina sullo sfondo, dalla vicina Punta Campanella fino al Molare. Visibilità permettendo, a sinistra si apre tutto il Golfo di Napoli con le altre isole e il Vesuvio, mentre a destra si vedono il Golfo di Salerno con Li Galli e ancora più lontano Punta Licosa. L’eremo costruito nel XIV secolo su un belvedere naturale è un’oasi di pace a strapiombo sul mare dove assaporare il silenzio interrotto solo dal canto degli uccelli. Il nome sembra originario da una pianta caprese: la cedronella; l’altra ipotesi è legata alla leggenda secondo la quale deriva da un tempio dedicato a Venere Citerea. La chiesa è composta da due navate: una dedicata alla Vergine e l’altra è arricchita da un dipinto del XVI secolo che rappresenta San Domenico.
