This is a special issue, the one with which we celebrate a brand new beginning after such an unexpectedly rough time. We are still left with a few uncertainties, but we are mostly experiencing a deep longing for regeneration and renewal. This new beginning fills our hearts with joy and prompts us to set the safety and health of our guests and staff members as top priority, which is the reason why Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts launched the global Lead With Care program. FIRENZE ARTE Palazzo Strozzi ospita la mostra di Tomás Saraceno, fino a dicembre. Al Museo della Moda di Palazzo Pitti, fino al 27 settembre, è in corso la mostra dal titolo Ai piedi degli Dei: le calzature nella storia.

Kurt Cobain and the Grunge Revolution è la mostra fotografica fino al 18 ottobre a Palazzo Medici Riccardi. Oltre 80 foto, tra cui alcune inedite, per ripercorrere la storia della scena musicale grunge e quella del suo eroe indiscusso, Kurt Cobain. Dall’11 luglio al 12 ottobre il Museo Nocevento ospita due importanti monografie, la prima è dedicata a Mario Mafai con le opere della Raccolta Alberto Della Ragione, l’altra è un focus su Francesca Banchelli dal titolo I cani silenziosi se ne vanno via. FIRENZE ART Palazzo Strozzi hosts the Tomás Saraceno exhibition, until December. Showing At Palazzo Pitti’s Fashion Museum, until September 27, is the exhibition At the Gods’ Feet: The History of Footwear. Kurt Cobain and the Grunge Revolution is the photographic exhibition on show at Palazzo Medici Riccardi until October 18. Over 80 photographs, some of which never shown to the public before, exploring the history of the grunge music scene and of its undisputed hero, Kurt Cobain. From July 11 to October 12, the Museo Novecento hosts two major monograph exhibitions, the first one devoted to Mario Mafai including works from the Alberto Della Ragione Collection, the second one on Francesca Banchelli titled I cani silenziosi se ne vanno via. For fashion lovers, in September, from the 22nd to the 28th, the Women’s Fashion Week will include the men’s fashion shows which were supposed to be held in June. As for sports: the Milano-Sanremo cycling race on August 8th and the F1 Monza Italian Grand-Prix race on September 6th .

Milano e Firenze sono conosciute nel mondo per le loro meraviglie architettoniche, i loro musei, le magnifiche opere d’arte che le due città gelosamente custodiscono.

Ma a dispetto di quanto i visitatori meno esperti si immaginano, entrambe nascondono forzieri verdi impensabili. Parchi e giardini rigogliosi di verde, ombreggiati da alberi secolari, colorati di fiori che a vederli sembrano più un miraggio che una realtà. Salvo qualche eccezione che in tema di green sarebbe un’eresia omettere, con questo itinerario vi faremo scoprire i giardini più segreti e, per questo, anche i più affascinanti.

MILANO Iniziamo il nostro viaggio alla scoperta dei più bei giardini di Milano dal gioiello di architettura green che sprigiona benessere dal chiostro del Four Seasons Hotel affacciato su via di Gesù. Si tratta della rivisitazione del Giardino all’italiana che l’architetto torinese Paolo Pejrone ha progettato quando la struttura ha accolto l’Hotel, ventisei anni fa. Tra le aiuole squadrate e diesgnate da siepi bosso e alberelli di Laurus Nobilis ci sono due ‘stravaganze’ rispetto alla tradizione, un Ciliegio giapponese e un maestoso Liriodendron tulipifera che dà al Giardino un elegante slancio verticale.

Non lontano da qui, in Porta Venezia, al n. 14 di via Mozart, merita un passaggio il rigoglioso giardino di Villa Necchi ombreggiato da alti alberi di magnolia, con la piscina all’aperto e un campo da tennis che fanno da sfondo a un piccolo caffè-ristorante. L’accesso al giardino e al caffè è gratuito. Poco più in là si trova il Giardino della Villa Reale (Villa Belgiojoso Bonaparte) uno dei più belli di Milano con laghetto, cascate, grotte, pontili, corsi d’acqua e romantici vialetti che invitano a viaggiare con la fantasia. Per conoscere invece il verde di Milano da un punto di vista più contemporaneo, andate nella nuova zona tra i quartieri Isola e Porta Nuova, dove sorgono due progetti innovativi. Milan and Florence are known across the world for their architectural wonders, museums and magnificent works of art which are jealously guarded and preserved. But unlike what the less experienced visitors may believe, both cities are amazingly green, filled with luxuriant parks and gardens, shaded by age-old trees and bursting with such colorful flowers that they may seem more of a dream than a reality. With a few exceptions which would be “heresy” not to mention, this tour will take you through the two cities’ most hidden and, thus, most charming gardens.

MILANO Our tour of the most beautiful gardens in Milan starts from the green architectural gem which is the cloister of Four Seasons Hotel on Via di Gesù. It is a reinterpretation of an Italianate garden designed by architect Paolo Pejrone when the building was converted into a hotel, twenty-six years ago. Standing among the square flower beds edged with box and Laurus Nobilis shrubs are two elements departing from tradition, a Japanese cherry tree and a majestic Liriodendron tulipifera, a tulip tree which gives the Garden its elegant vertical look.

Not far from here, near Porta Venezia, at 14 Via Mozart, is the lush Garden of Villa Necchi, shaded by tall magnolia trees, with outdoor pool, tennis court and a small café-restaurant. The access to the garden and café is free of charge. Located in the same area is the Garden of Villa Reale (Villa Belgiojoso Bonaparte), one of the loveliest in Milan, featuring a small lake, waterfalls, grottos, piers, rivulets and romantic pathways which make visitors travel with the mind. Milan’s more contemporary-style green spaces are situated in the modern neighborhoods of Isola and Porta Nuova, which are home to two very innovative projects. The Library of Trees, a ten-hectare public space filled with thousands of trees and shrubs which paved the way for other urban reforestation proj-

Tutti i parchi di Milano sono ad accesso libero, così come alcuni spazi verdi più raccolti, per esempio il giardino della Guastalla, quello della Rotonda della Besana o il Parco delle Basiliche. Per cambiare prospettiva tuttavia basta uno sguardo dietro una siepe o visitare uno dei diversi giardini nascosti all’interno di ville o palazzi. È questo l’esempio della bella Vigna di Leonardo, meraviglioso spazio verde all’interno della Casa degli Atellani.

Oltre all’Orto botanico di Brera, tra i giardini perfetti da visitare in autunno. E per rimanere in tema di verde, a pochi passi dalle Colonne di San Lorenzo, trova spazio un vero paradiso green nel cuore di Milano: il Vivaio Riva. Un giardino nascosto, un’oasi botanica a conduzione familiare di più di tremila metri quadri nata negli anni Sessanta, che ha resistito stoi-

All parks in Milan are open to the public and free admittance, as well as some smaller green spaces, such as the Garden of Guastalla, the Garden of Rotonda della Besana and the Park of the Basiliche. For a change of perspective, visit one of the secluded gardens hidden within private villas and historic buildings. Such as the lovely Leonardo da Vinci’s Vineyard, a wonderful green space within Casa degli Atellani, in addition to the Botanical Garden of Brera: autumn is the perfect season to visit it. And as far as green spaces are concerned, just a few steps away from the Columns of San Lorenzo is a true green oasis in the heart of Milano: Vivaio Riva. An over three thousand-square-meter family-run nursery established in the sixties and which stoically survived over the years to make it to this day.

Ma il grande gioiello di Firenze è il Giardino di Boboli. Primo esempio di giardino all’italiana è un pendant naturale di Palazzo Pitti e oggetto delle cure dei Medici, dei Lorena e dei Savoia, che l’hanno arricchito nei secoli con capolavori come la Grotta grande del Buontalenti o con strutture come il padiglione della Kaffeehaus. Un giardino pensato per i principi, oggi tutto da scoprire nei suoi 45 ettari seguendo il Viottolone. Non distante da qui il Giardino Bardini merita senz’altro una visita in ogni stagione: sono tre in uno, diversi tra loro e dalla vista mozzafiato sulla città grazie al suo essere in costa nell’Ol-

But Florence’s most precious green gem is the Boboli Gardens. The nineteenth-century Giardino dell’Orticoltura in Florence

Mille varietà botaniche e 350 specie di rose antiche distribuite su un ettaro di terreno terrazzato alla francese, si posano sotto il piazzale Michelangelo e regalano un altro panorama unico sulla città. È il Giardino delle Rose, arricchito da un’oasi giapponese Shorai e da dodici opere dell’artista belga Jean-Michel Folon. Tornando Diquaddarno, cioè la parte di centro storico che sorge sulla riva destra del fiume, potete visitare un giardino completamente diverso che si trova a nord di piazza San Marco. Infine, per un’emozione d’altri tempi andate all’ottocentesco Giardino dell’Orticoltura in via Vittorio Emanuele II, set cinematografico di svariati film per il suo tepidarium, la grande serra di ferro e vetro che ancora oggi lo caratterizza.

Along the right bank of the Arno river, on the historic center’s side, to the north of Piazza San Marco is a completely different garden, Giardino dei Semplici. Designed for Cosimo I dei Medici in 1545-46, it is one of the world’s oldest botanical gardens.

It contains rare plants and medicinal herbs, trees and tropical plants from all over the world kept in imposing nineteenth-century conservatories.

Last but not least, if you wish to experience a feeling of bygone grandeur, visit the nineteenth-century Giardino dell’Orticoltura on Via Vittorio Emanuele II, a shooting location for several films because of its tepidarium, a large iron and glass greenhouse which is still the garden’s main feature.

Quella con Firenze è una liaison unica nel suo genere, che concorre alla nascita della moda stessa e che, come spesso accade quando si parla della culla del Rinascimento, riporta indietro nella storia fino alle vicende della famiglia fiorentina più illustre. Quando Caterina de’ Medici arrivò in Francia per le nozze con il Francesco I di Valois.

Non fu accolta bene: non era bellissima e non aveva con sé una dote consistente, ma aveva classe e portò in Francia il suo savoir vivre e una naturale propensione per il bello, sotto forma di profumi personali e elegante biancheria. Per parlare però di moda nel senso moderno del termine, bisogna fare un salto negli anni ’50 del Novecento, l’avvento della grande epoca “Giorgini”. Fu lui, Giovanni Battista Giorgini, il pioniere che ha saputo unire la bellezza magnetica di Firenze e la sua vocazione artigianale per farne la Parigi d’Italia prima, e una delle capitali della moda nel mondo poi. La prima sfilata fu nel febbraio del 1951 a Villa Torrigiani, casa di Giorgini, poco dopo quella che è considerata la consacrazione della moda italiana: la leggendaria sfilata, sempre voluta da Giorgini, in Sala Bianca, a Palazzo Pitti, nel 1952. Oggi il triangolo glamour di Firenze è racchiuso tra via de’ Tornabuoni, via della Vigna Nuova e via Strozzi, tra quali, la prima in particolare, rappresenta la fashion street fiorentina per eccellenza, con le firme più esclusive.

The first fashion show was held in February 1951 at Villa Torrigiani, Giorgini’s home, followed by what is considered to be the official date of birth of Italian fashion: the legendary fashion show, promoted by Giorgini again, held in Palazzo Pitti’s White Room in 1952.

Dormire nel XVI secolo e fare colazione nell’800, frescheggiare all’ombra di piante rarissime frutto di viaggi ed esplorazioni nel Nuovo Mondo e farsi trascinare dentro storie agresti, giardini esotici, mondi lontani. Un soggiorno al Four Seasons Hotel Firenze può essere considerato un viaggio nell’arte e nella storia. Un’esperienza unica. E’ come tornare indietro nel tempo, tra gli aristocratici ed esclusivi mondi cinque-seicenteschi così come vivere le stesse esperienze, subire gli stessi incanti, di un viaggiatore ottocentesco. Perché questo palazzo, come pochissimi altri, ha mantenuto senza alterarle le decorazioni che nei secoli, prima con i della Scala che lo abitarono fin dal 1497 e poi con i della Gherardesca e oggi il Four Seasons Hotel Firenze, hanno arricchito con affreschi, stucchi e arredi le decorazioni della struttura realizzata da Giuliano da Sangallo. Per pura casualità infatti ogni famiglia che si è succeduta ha apportato e non ha tolto rendendo uno scrigno d’arte il palazzo, che dal 1901 è considerato patrimonio artistico nazionale e legato a vincolo. “Ci lavoriamo da dieci anni e ci sentiamo come a casa. È un ambiente così armonico e inusuale, che vedere lo sguardo estasiato di chi arriva non ha davvero prezzo” ammette un’appassionata Eva Martini, titolare assieme al marito Tommaso Nesi della storica Bottega dei Grassi Nesi, giun-

by Giuliano da Sangallo. Every owner, in fact, contributed something rather than just taking, thus, transforming the building into a treasure box which has been recognized as national artistic heritage and subject to restrictions since 1901.

“We’ve been working here for ten years and we feel at home. It is such a harmonious and uncommon sight that all those who arrive here cannot refrain from gazing at it enraptured,” Eva Martini says. She is the co-owner with her husband Tommaso Nesi of the

Impossibile del resto non rimanere a bocca aperta e non lasciarsi risucchiare come in un film. Perché ogni suite racconta il gusto, i pensieri, i tormenti e i sogni di chi, nei secoli ci è vissuto. Può essere l’ambiente alla moresca, con le pareti rivestite di finto cuoio ottocentesco come dettava la moda spagnola del tempo, o le accattivanti storie di Adamo ed Eva, che Giovanni Stradano decorò verso la fine del ‘500. Oppure le assonanze da ricercare ora con Donatello e ora con Michelangelo, nei raffinati stucchi della hall realizzati da Bertoldo di Giovanni, collaboratore del primo e maestro del secondo. E magari confrontarli con gli stucchi al piano nobile di Alessandro Gheri di qualche secolo dopo. O ancora conoscere meglio le vicissitudini dei Della Gherardesca, così ben descritte negli affreschi settecenteschi di Ferretti, Soderini, Meucci o tornare a lasciarsi trascinare nelle scene mitologiche e tra i mostri delle grottesche affrescate nel ‘500 da Agostino Ciampelli.

Every room tells the thoughts, worries and dreams of those who lived there over the centuries. It may be the Moresque room, with the walls covered with 19th-century faux leather as was fashionable in Spain at the time, or the engaging stories of Adam and Eve painted by Giovanni Stradano in the late 1500s.

Or the similarities with Donatello and Michelangelo found in the elegant hall of stuccoes by Bertoldo di Giovanni, who worked with the former and was the latter’s teacher. And perhaps make a comparison with the stuccoes on the main floor created by Alessandro Gheri a few centuries later. Or learn more about the vicissitudes of the Della Gherardesca family, so welldescribed in the 18th-century frescoes by Ferretti, Soderini, Meucci, or, again, get carried away by the mythological scenes and grotesque figures frescoed

by Agostino Ciampelli in the 16th century.

Un patrimonio artistico enorme che si è arricchito, secolo dopo secolo e che grazie alla lungimiranza e alla capacità di programmazione degli attuali proprietari, ricorda Martini, è possibile intervenire costantemente per mantenerlo integro. Anche perché oltre agli affreschi e agli stucchi il palazzo conserva delle chicche uniche. “Come la Suite del Volterrano che è la mia passione - confessa Martini - . Certo, il soffitto affrescato dal celebre artista, ma soprattutto, lo ammetto, per i dieci pannelli con la carta da parati cinese dipinta con uccelli che volano tra i racemi di magnolie rosa e bianche su un cielo quasi cangiante. La carta avvolge tutta la stanza al piano nobile che si apre sul terrazzo prospiciente Borgo Pinti. Una carta miracolosamente conservata perché risale ai primi del ‘700. Sì ha capito bene: 1700 e dipinta con una tecnica rarissima. Resa peraltro lucida come fosse madreperla. Una carta che brilla come fosse un tessuto. Pensiamo che per rendere lo sfondo cangiante che dà l’effetto della tridimensionalità abbiano usato una polvere di madreperla”.

Un’assoluta rarità, che tuttavia si va ad aggiungere al parco di oltre 4 ettari, incuneato con alberi secolari e rari, tra i viali e Borgo Pinti. E per un puro caso sfuggito alle demolizioni delle mura di fine ‘800.

A huge artistic heritage that was enriched century after century and which, owing to the far-sightedness and planning skills of the current owners- Martini says- is possible to preserve by constantly addressing the building’s many needs. In addition to the frescoes and stuccoes, the palazzo contains some truly unique gems. “Such as the Volterrano Suite, which I’m particularly fond of- Martini says-. Obviously, because of the ceiling frescoed by the famous artist but, in particular, I must say, for the ten panels with hand-painted Chinese wallpaper with scenes of birds flying between the branches of pink and white magnolia trees against an iridescent sky. It covers all the walls of the room on the main floor that opens onto the terrace facing Borgo Pinti. A wallpaper miraculously well-preserved, as it dates back to the early 1700s. Yes, you heard me right, the 1700s and painted by using a very rare technique. The paper is as glossy as if it were mother-of-pearl, as bright as if made of fabric. We believe that mother-of-pearl powder was used to make the iridescent background which gives the three-dimensional effect”.

Nel cuore antico della città, il Four Seasons Hotel Milano conserva e restituisce tutto il fascino della storia che ha segnato queste mura, queste colonne, questi giardini che un tempo accoglievano le preghiere delle Clarisse di Santa Maria del Gesù. Votate alla clausura e alla povertà, il loro fervore spirituale si riversò sull’architettura del convento, luogo intimo e protetto al tempo stesso, dove - varcate le alte mura - ci si trovava davanti un susseguirsi di spazi di preghiera, tranquille celle, orti e giardini. Oggi l’atmosfera è ancora la stessa: a due passi dalle vie del glam e dello shopping della frizzante Milano, varcato l’ingresso dell’Hotel il tempo sembra fermarsi, quasi incantato dalla Bellezza. La bellezza di antichi capitelli che si esaltano nel contrasto del verde del giardino; di affreschi cinquecenteschi testimoni di una storia nobile e antichissima. I lavori iniziati nel 1987 per la creazione dell’Hotel si sono mossi proprio in questa direzione: tecnologie sofisticate, itinerari progettuali programmati e poi deviati per inattese scoperte hanno allungato molto i tempi a vantaggio di un risultato eccellente, dove il comfort e l’ospitalità del Four Seasons Hotel Milano si compenetrano perfettamente con la sua storia. Ogni antica testimonianza viene integrata nel nuovo senza rimuovere o alterare i segni del passato.

Nell’Hotel rivivono quindi le colonne dell’antica chiesa del Convento, i capitelli del Chiostro, le volte tardo medievali e quelle del ‘700, le facciate in stile neoclassico: ogni elemento rispettato nella sua storia e in equilibrio nel nuovo contesto.

In questo recupero hanno un ruolo di primissimo piano i frammenti di affresco che punteggiano il percorso negli ambienti dell’Hotel. Concentrati soprattutto nella lobby, all’entrata del ristorante La Veranda troviamo un particolare dell’affresco che raffigura un Santo con insegne pastorali della seconda metà del XVI secolo. Nell’angolo in basso a destra vicino alla figura del Santo si scorge il simbolo di una croce, chiaramente appartenente a uno stadio pittorico precedente.

Set in the age-old heart of the city, Four Seasons Hotel Milano has preserved the historic charm of the walls, columns and gardens which were once home to the Clarisses of the Holy Mary of Jesus, an order of nuns vowed to seclusion and poverty. Their spiritual fervor was reflected in the architectural style of the convent, an intimate and secluded place, enclosed within high walls beyond which places of prayer, quiet cells, vegetable gardens and gardens followed one another in succession. The atmosphere is still the same as before: though just steps away from Milan’s glamorous shopping streets, as soon as one walks into the Hotel, it’s like stepping into a world in which time seems to have stopped, enraptured by such beauty. The beauty of ageold capitals standing out against the lush green garden and of sixteenth-century frescoes which stand as vestiges of the building’s long and noble history. The works for the conversion into a hotel, which began in 1987, were carried out by using sophisticated technology that led to unexpected findings. This caused a delay in the completion of works, but ensured excellent results in terms of Four Seasons Hotel Milano’s comfort and hospitality. Everything integrates perfectly with the building’s original features. No new addition involved the removal or modification of traces of the past. Therefore, the columns of the Convent’s age-old church, the Cloister’s capitals, the late-medieval and eighteenthcentury vaults, the neoclassical-style facades coexist within the Hotel: the building’s historic elements have been respected and fully integrate with the new setting.

Restoration works focused mostly on the fragments of frescoes found in several rooms of the Hotel, in particular, in the lobby. At the entrance to La Veranda restaurant, there is a detail of a fresco depicting a Saint with Pastoral Symbols dating back to the mid-sixteenth century. The Fresco Suite, overlooking the courtyard Sempre nella lobby, un frammento de L’incoronazione di spine è un affresco del XVI-XVII secolo ispirato all’opera omonima di Tiziano esposta al Louvre di Parigi. Bellissima la cromia del dipinto: una palette pastello di toni polverosi di grande eleganza. Molto più vivace l’Angelo Rivelator e Maria Maddalena nella grotta: frammento di affresco tardo Quattrocento presente nella parete divisoria dell’antica chiesa conventuale, demolita quando l’antico convento venne riconvertito a casa dell’antica borghesia. La sala Camino ospita un affresco dedicato a S. Carlo Borromeo, arcivescovo di Milano. Mentre l’Orazione nell’Orto della seconda metà del XV secolo, che rappresenta uno spaccato dell’antica vita monastica che per secoli ha scandito lo scorrere del tempo in questi luoghi, si trova nel corridoio che porta dal Chiostro alla Sala del Camino. Le 118 camere e suite dell’Hotel milanese, così come gli ambienti comuni, sono arredati con uno stile volutamente essenziale che mantiene grande attenzione per i particolari: una scelta minimale nata per fare da giusto contrappunto alla struttura così ricca di stili e testimonianze, a cui è lasciato ampio spazio e visibilità. The lobby features also a fragment of The Crowning with Thorns, a sixteenth to seventeenth-century fresco inspired by Titian’s painting by the same name kept at Paris’s Louvre Museum. The painting’s shades of color are beautiful: a palette of powdery pastel tones of the greatest elegance. A much livelier scene is The Prophetic Angel and Mary Magdalene in the Cave, a fragment of a late-fifteenth century fresco on the partition wall of the convent’s ancient church, which was demolished when the convent was converted into a house. The Camino Room houses a fresco depicting Saint Charles Borromeo, the Archbishop of Milan. Prayers in the Garden, which dates back to the midfifteenth century and represents a scene of the monastic life that unfolded for centuries in these spaces, is found along the corridor leading from the Cloister to the Camino Room. The interiors of the Hotel’s 118 rooms and suite rooms, as well as the common areas, are intentionally minimalist with great care of details, in order to let the building’s many architectural styles and historic features stand out as focal points. This place’s history repeats itself: from convent to today’s hotel, elegance and excellence downtown Milan.

Amato place to be di Milano, il ristorante del Four Seasons Hotel Milano stupisce i suoi ospiti con un innovativo restyling, opera del direttore creativo Vincenzo Dascanio. Affacciato sulla corte interna dell’ex Convento del XV secolo, il ristorante diventa parte integrante del giardino interno dell’hotel, non solo grazie alle ampie vetrate, ma da ora anche grazie alle installazioni a tema botanico che lo avvolgono, rendendolo a tutti gli effetti un prolungamento del giardino, quasi a diventare simbolicamente la sua serra, in quanto custode di preziosi sapori e aromi. La natura investe gli spazi, la vegetazione invade le pareti. Dal soffitto strutture bidimensionali a rombo, in ferro oro, creano una cornice naturale, che avvolge gli ospiti.

Vasche specchiate sono la culla di piante aromatiche, i semplici antichi sapori che ogni giorno vengono celebrati in cucina. I tavoli hanno cambiato stile e colore, richiamano il verde dei bossi, fino ad ingannare la vista, che non ha più confini tra spazi interni ed esterni. Scopo ultimo: generare emozione e bellezza per un’esperienza sinestetica, dallo stile classico ma fresco, fatto anche di cotture innovative.

Durante il periodo estivo, l’Hotel apre il suo giardino anche a piccoli eventi privati organizzati dal fantastico team Catering e Eventi, dove gustare l’eccellente cucina targata La Veranda, insieme agli ormai famosi cocktail ideati dal Bar Manager Luca Angeli.

One of the city’s most popular places to be, Four Seasons Hotel Milano’s restaurant now welcomes its guests in a renovated dining room designed by Creative Director Vincenzo Dascanio. Overlooking the inner courtyard of the former fifteenth-century convent, the restaurant has become an integral part of the indoor garden, not only because of its large windows, but also thanks to the new botanical-themed installations which make it look like a natural extension of the garden, a sort of conservatory designed to preserve delicious flavors and aromas. Nature is brought indoors, vegetation covers the walls. Two-dimensional lozenge-shaped gilded iron structures hang from the ceiling, creating a natural frame that encloses the guests.

Aromatic plants- the simple, basic flavors that are celebrated in the kitchen every day- are grown in mirrored tubs. Dining tables come in a new style and color, recalling the green box hedges and tricking the sight into believing that there are no boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces.

La Veranda is a restaurant for all seasons, offering customized service and great care for details. The menu by Executive Chef Fabrizio Borraccino is based on the use of fresh, quality ingredients that give simple but tasty dishes, such as herb-marinated salmon with cream cheese and avocado, maccheroncello pasta with rabbit and chicken sauce and slivers of Pecorino cheese, catch of the day with Scapece-style zucchini, radish and spinach. The goal is to generate emotions and beauty for a synaesthetic experience, classic-style yet fresh, by employing innovative cooking methods.

During the summer season, the Hotel opens its garden to small private events planned by the terrific Catering and Events team, with excellent cuisine by La Veranda restaurant and original cocktails conceived by Bar Manager Luca Angeli.

Destinazione ormai iconica anche per i gourmand più esigenti, La Veranda del Four Seasons Hotel Milano, regno dell’Executive Chef Fabrizio Borraccino, ha inaugurato un nuovo servizio da asporto e delivery, così da permettere di gustare i suoi rinomati piatti direttamente a casa, per un’occasione speciale, oppure per regalarsi una semplice, ma sempre piacevole, coccola.

Per questo nuovo progetto, lo Chef ha creato un menu apposito, contraddistinto da freschezza e semplicità, con piatti come Gazpacho con frutta, verdura, mozzarella di bufala e pane carasau, Stracciatella con mango, pomodoro, avocado ed erbette e Ravioli di ricotta e borragine, burro, salvia e limone. Una selezione perfetta sia per una cena più formale che per un aperitivo tra amici. Naturalmente non potevano mancare anche le proposte per i palati più dolci, che potranno assaporare sorbetti e gelati artigianali preparati dall’Executive Pastry Chef Daniele Bonzi.
