legó agosto, tan esperado por los que disfrutan de sus merecidas vacaciones, para los que lo trabajan, para los residentes que lo gozan y para los que se refugian en sus domicilios. Este mes, la Costa del Sol explota como un globo lleno de confetis repleto de actividades, numerosos conciertos, fiestas, celebraciones, exposiciones, teatro, excursiones…. y además, todo con un casi 10% más de ocupación. Para esta avalancha estacional, necesitamos que nuestra ciudad esté a punto en limpieza, servicios sanitarios, playas, carreteras y en el servicio de taxi, este último servicio público, como cada año, es precario, sólo hay que observar las colas de las paradas y ver las caras de desencanto y frustración de los usuarios. Necesitamos la decisión de los organismos competentes (Ayuntamientos) para que esta vergüenza no se repita año tras año. Volviendo al tema de la animada programación de agosto, destacamos los conciertos y actividades de Starlite, la programación del Auditorio Felipe VI de Estepona, el Festival Callejero Art Fest de San Pedro, IV Certamen Mundial del Jamón “Popi” de Estepona, los conciertos de las Galas Metropolitanas de Marbella o el XVIII Festival de Cine Fantástico de Estepona, además de las actividades habituales cine, exposiciones, excursiones, mercadillos veraniegos, etc… Gracias por su amable apoyo a esta veterana publicación y que disfrute a tope de lo mejor del verano con nuestra información, que también encontrará en la web www.guiamarbella.com Saludos y nos leemos en Octubre.

This month the Costa del Sol explodes like a balloon stuffed with confetti, full of activities, concerts, parties, celebrations, exhibitions, theatre, excursions…. and on top of that, with almost 10% more occupation. For this seasonal avalanche, our town must be on the ball with cleaning, health services, beaches, roads and taxi service. The latter, a public service, as every year, is somewhat precarious, you only need to see the queues at taxi ranks and the frustrated, unhappy faces of the users. We need the authorities (Town Hall) to make sure that this shameful situation does not repeat itself year after year. Coming back to the lively August programme, we would highlight the concerts and activities at Starlite, the programme of the Felipe VI Auditorium in Estepona, the Art Fest Street Festival in San Pedro, the 4th “Popi” World Ham Championship in Estepona, the concerts of the Metropolitan Galas in Marbella and the 18th Fantasy Film Festival in Estepona, in addition to the usual activities of cinema, exhibitions, excursions, summer open-air markets, etc... Exposición Temporal “Matta. Entre Mundos”. Roberto Matta es uno de los artistas internacionales de mayor influencia en la cultura del siglo XX y XXI. La exposición muestra la faceta de grabador de este artista. Las series “Hom’mère”, “Carné Amont”, “L’Arc Obscur des Heures”, “La Araucana” y “Verbo América” son algunas de las que tienen presencia en ella. 31 grabados a los que acompaña un óleo del artista. TEATROS ESTEPONA La Torre Oscura de Stephen King, la ambiciosa historia de uno de los autores más célebres del mundo, prepara su lanzamiento a la gran pantalla. El último Caballero Guerrero, Roland Deschain, ha estado enfrascado en una batalla eterna con Walter O’Dim, también conocido como El Hombre de Negro, decidido a impedir que éste derribe la Torre Oscura, que mantiene unido al universo. Esta construcción se encuentra enclavada en el centro histórico de la ciudad y es la única que se ha conservado de la época musulmana. La medina de Marbella fue una de las ciudades más importantes de la “Rayya” (provincia de Málaga). La Marbella amurallada de los musulmanes abarcaba aproximadamente una superficie de 90.000 metros2. Sobre esta reducida área se extendería una trama de estrechas callejas, que todavía hoy conserva su trazado. This construction is set in the historic centre of the town and it is the only one conserved from the muslim era. YACIMIENTOS ARQUEOLÓGICOS ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES

Basílica Paleocristiana Vega del Mar (San Pedro) (s. IV). Rodeada por una necrópolis visigoda con más de 180 enterramientos de distinta tipología. Única en la Península Ibérica. Bóvedas o Termas de Guadalmina (San Pedro) (s. II-III). A 500 m de la Basílica. Además de su uso higiénico, eran un punto de reunión social. Villa Romana de Río Verde (Marbella) (s. I). Edificada como finca rústica en la que se desarrollaban actividades agropecuarias, en especial la fabricación del garum, pasta de diversos pescados cuyo precio alcazaba cifras exorbitantes en Roma. Monumento declarado Bien de Interés Cultural por la Junta de Andalucía, y protegido con el máximo nivel en el Patrimonio Histórico Andaluz.

Ubicado en el Palacio de Villalón, en pleno centro histórico, la colección permanente está compuesta por unas 230 obras que recorren el arte del siglo XIX español, con especial atención a la pintura andaluza (los malagueños Gómez Gil, Moreno Carbonero o Barrón conviven con pintores de la talla de Zurbarán, Sorolla, Zuloaga o Romero de Torres).

Situated in the Villalón Palace, in the heart of the historic centre, the permanent collection is composed of some 230 works of 19th century Spanish art, with a special focus on Andalusian painters (the Malaga artists Gómez Gil, Moreno Carbonero and Barrón will be hung alongside masters such as Zurbarán, Sorolla, Zuloaga or Romero de Torres).

La idea es ofrecer al público, durante varios años, en un lugar ya construido, como el Cubo en este caso, un recorrido por obras de referencia de la colección del Centre Pompidou, y acompañarlo con una programación de exposiciones y experiencias multidisciplinares y talleres.

The idea is to offer to the public for several years an already built-in, as the Cube in this case, a tour reference works from the collection of the Centre Pompidou place, and accompany it with a program of exhibitions and multidisciplinary experiences and workshops.

A novel museum situated in the former Wholesalers Market and designed by Rafael Moneo. The permanent collection and the exhibition programme focus on the 20th and 21st Centuries, apart from offering a variety of cultural activities.
