arbella renace y vuelve a la vida en este mes de Junio con la popular Feria y Fiestas de San Bernabé, que da el aviso de la llegada de la temporada alta del turismo. Este año una vez más, se prevé una tendencia creciente en número de visitantes, aunque desgraciadamente, con estancias más cortas.

También se renueva en todo el país, el mandato por 4 años de los Ayuntamientos, la administración más cercana al ciudadano y por ello, la que más afecta a nuestras vidas. Todos esperamos expectantes la realización de lo comprometido en campaña por los políticos. Incidiendo entre en lo más urgente, que es el cuidado de las playas y los proyectos de los espigones a medio plazo; esperemos que cuanto antes tengamos unas playas a la altura que nuestra ciudad necesita. Estos meses de Junio y Julio nos sorprenden con una avalancha de eventos de todo tipo, destacamos entre otros muchos la 11ª Edición de la Ruta de la Tapa de Marbella y San Pedro, muchos festivales de música como Starlite en Marbella, Ojeando 2019 en Ojén, Festival Flamenco Ciudad de Estepona, Marenostrum en Fuengirola o el Terral 2019 en Málaga, la celebración de la Noche de San Juan, nueva edición de la Feria de decoración Marbella Design, el 10 Wineing Street de Estepona, la 5ª Edición de Art Marbella, además de exposiciones, excursiones, mercadillos, y mucho más. This year, once again, an increased number of visitors is forecast although, unfortunately, staying for shorter periods of time. Also, throughout the country, is the renewed mandate for another 4-year period for all the Town Councils, the authority closest to the people and therefore, the one that most affects our lives. We are all expectantly waiting for them to put into action what the politicians had promised in their campaigns. Amongst the most urgent issues, are the attention to the beaches and projects for creating breakwaters; we hope we will have our beaches brought up to the standard that our town needs, as soon as possible. Now in June and July we are taken by surprise with the avalanche of all kind of events, highlighting amongst many, the 11th Edition of the Marbella and San Pedro Tapa Route, many music festivals such as Starlite in Marbella, Ojeando 2019 in Ojén, the Estepona Flamenco Festival, Marenostrum in Fuengirola and Terral 2019 in Malaga, the St John’s Eve celebrations, the new edition of the Marbella Design and Decoration Fair, the 10 Wineing Street in Estepona, the 5th edition of Art Marbella, plus exhibitions, excursions, street markets, and much, much more. Espigones significa más playas para Marbella Enrique Guerrero

ace años se creó la plataforma ciudadana que defiende la construcción de espigones transitables en superficie para Marbella que ya cuenta con miles de seguidores en página de Facebook, con el fin de presionar a las administraciones competentes para lograr la creación de los espigones y la regeneración de nuestras playas urbanas. A la cabeza de este movimiento ciudadano, está José Miguel Lima, impulsor de esta iniciativa desde su creación. En palabras del presidente de asociación de Espigones Transitables “Seguimos sufriendo otro verano con unas playas malísimas para una ciudad turística como Marbella y creemos que teniendo los espigones solucionaríamos en gran parte la continua desaparición de arena y por consiguiente el ancho de las mismas, además de

conseguir paliar la plaga de medusas como hemos visto en otras playas”.

‘Los espigones transitables tuvieron una función muy completa’ Nos recuerda Jose Miguel Lima que: “Desde la eliminación de los espigones transitables, las administraciones invierten cada año ingentes cantidades de dinero en aportes de arena para la regeneración de la costa. La construcción de espigones transitables es ya conocida, pues durante 20 años (1970 a 1990) tuvimos playas en muy buen estado, agua cristalina, arena limpia, y un fondo submarino excelente. Además, la gente tenía la

posibilidad de pasear por los espigones como si fuera una prolongación más del paseo marítimo, que hoy está colapsado. Creemos que es la mejor solución porque ya la hemos vivido y ha funcionado” comenta. en el que estuvieron instalados los siete diques que se extendían desde el Puerto de La Bajadilla hasta las inmediaciones del Hotel Meliá Don Pepe. “Los espigones transitables tuvieron una función muy completa, se convirtieron en elementos de protección de las playas, al tiempo que eran espacios para el disfrute de la ciudadanía: la gente paseaba por ellos o buceaba a su alrededor”, afirma el presidente de la plataforma, “de hecho, no son pocos los integrantes del colectivo, aficionados a la pesca submarina o de caña, que refieren como estos diques perpendiculares a la orilla se convirtieron en un importante refugio de fauna con grandes bancos de peces, mejillones y erizos”.

‘Durante 20 años (1970 a 1990) tuvimos playas en muy buen estado’

La Asociación está a la espera de la adjudicación de esta necesaria obra que depende de la institución gubernamental de Costa y cuenta con el inestimable apoyo del Ayto de Marbella, siendo uno de los temas más importantes en la agenda de la actual Alcadesa Ángeles Muñoz.

Esta construcción se encuentra enclavada en el centro histórico de la ciudad y es la única que se ha conservado de la época musulmana. La medina de Marbella fue una de las ciudades más importantes de la “Rayya” (provincia de Málaga). La Marbella amurallada de los musulmanes abarcaba aproximadamente una superficie de 90.000 metros2. Sobre esta reducida área se extendería una trama de estrechas callejas, que todavía hoy conserva su trazado. Basílica Paleocristiana Vega del Mar (San Pedro) (s. IV). Rodeada por una necrópolis visigoda con más de 180 enterramientos de distinta tipología. Única en la Península Ibérica. Bóvedas o Termas de Guadalmina (San Pedro) (s. II-III). A 500 m de la Basílica. Además de su uso higiénico, eran un punto de reunión social. Villa Romana de Río Verde (Marbella) (s. I). Edificada como finca rústica en la que se desarrollaban actividades agropecuarias, en especial la fabricación del garum, pasta de diversos pescados cuyo precio alcazaba cifras exorbitantes en Roma. Monumento declarado Bien de Interés Cultural por la Junta de Andalucía, y protegido con el máximo nivel en el Patrimonio Histórico Andaluz.

Built as a country estate where fish farming activity took place, particularly the preparation of “garum”, a fish paste made from different fish, that commanded exorbitant prices in Rome. It has been declared a Monument of Cultural Interest by the Regional Government of Andalusia and is protected as being a high level example of the Historic Heritage of Andalusia.
