A significant proportion of the superyacht is being kept quite literally under wraps for now with more details to be revealed in the near future. Nonetheless, there was plenty to see for the global audience of Feadship fans who tuned in to the first ever livestream broadcast of such an event, which included some dramatic drone footage. Project 818 is custom-built for an owner with a true eye for design, and the fruits of his partnership with designer Jarkko Jämsén are already evident in the elegant and wellproportioned exterior profile. KK Superyachts have been representing the owner from the concept development phase through to completion and yacht operations. Dutch luxury yacht builders AMELS and DAMEN celebrated the hull launch of LA DATCHA SeaXplorer following construction on the Danube river. ّ ،‫أميلز ودامن‬ ‫ احتفال معًا بإطالق بدن اليخت الجديد “ال داتشا إكسبلورر” بعد مرحلة من أعمال البناء‬،‫الهولنديان‬ ‫صناع اليخوت الفاخرة‬ ّ .‫الدانوب‬ ّ ‫تمت على ضفاف نهر‬ ّ ‫التي‬ 12

The owner of the innovative 77-metre luxury expedition yacht (252 ft) attended the event with his family at the hull building yard Damen Shipyards Galati. This summer the hull will be transported to the SeaXplorer outfitting yard in the Netherlands ahead of delivery in September 2020, just before the yacht’s debut at the Monaco Yacht Show. LA DATCHA is based on the leading SeaXplorer expedition yacht design with extensive customisations to the owner’s requirements, including his passion for heliskiing. She stands out with a helideck and hangar for two aircraft, fully certified for helicopters up to 4,000kg. The yacht carries extra provisions and facilities for 40 days of global autonomy without port call, and a superb set of toys, tenders, snowmobiles and a submarine. The owner intends to make LA DATCHA available for charter in a range of polar and tropical destinations during an extensive two-year global tour. LA DATCHA SeaXplorer 77 has a volume of 2,560 Gross Tonnage and accommodates 12 guests, including two master suites, together with 25 crew. The yacht’s exterior design is by Azure Yacht Design, while the interior is by the owner’s choice of designer, Vasiliy Shprits and his studio, which has also designed many of the owner’s residential properties. www.seaxplorer.nl

1939 FEADSHIP ZEPHYR RELAUNCHED ‫إعادة إطالق زفير من فيدشيب‬

Initially built by De Vries in Aalsmeer to a De Voogt design a decade before *) the two families joined forces with Van Lent to form Feadship, Zephyr was an innovative motoryacht for her day, one of the very first to have her design tanktested. Now, in early July 2019, she is making headlines again as a textbook example of how our maritime heritage can be restored to 21stcentury standards of comfort while retaining the historic ambience of days gone by. There is something captivating about the cruisers designed and built by the soon-to-be members of Feadship in the years leading up to World War II. They exude classic style in the black & white photographs from the era while the yachts which have survived down the decades make an even more imposing impression in full-colour real life. And then, raising the bar even higher, there are the motoryachts of the Feadship Heritage Fleet which have been lovingly restored to their former glory. Zephyr is a truly worthy new member of this fleet in every respect. The current owner is an experienced Dutch sailor with a collection of boats old and new. He discovered Zephyr two years ago abandoned in a yard in the Netherlands having been stripped by a previous owner who had come up against the financial realities of a total rebuild project. Recognising the yacht’s pedigree as a member of the Feadship Heritage Fleet, the current owner paid off the debts and took over the project, one with which he has been very involved, ever since. www.feadship.nl

A result of the collaboration between architect Fulvio De Simoni, the Ferretti Group Product Strategy Committee (led by engineer Piero Ferrari), and the Group’s Engineering Department, the new 140-foot yacht is the first Pershing manufactured at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona. Developed into 3 spacious decks, the new flagship emanates prowess on water, showcasing the “thrill” that only Pershing can offer. The project’s philosophy is based on the will to maintain Pershing’s unequalled performance, albeit with different class weights and dimensions: those of a superyacht. The hull platform was specifically designed for high performance, featuring excellent hydrodynamic capabilities at high speeds and the propulsion of 4 MTU 16V2000 M96L engines, each of 2,600 HP, thus achieving the target of taking the first 43.30-metre LOA Pershing superyacht to a top speed of 38 knots. But Pershing 140 is not only the brand’s first superyacht to boast outstanding performance; it is also the first to feature a raised cockpit directly connected to the sun deck; the first to have an owner-dedicated area on the main deck and the first to maximise the enjoyability of all the decks and outdoor areas. This achievement was made possible by joining them all into a beach club area, which becomes expandable thanks to three fold- out sides. Stylistically, the new flagship stands out for its sleek lines, emblematic of the brand’s sporty and competitive character. This feature is further enhanced by the on-demand application of a steel grid on the bow. Moreover, it combines design innovations with some of the brand’s most iconic details, such as the two lateral wings, that are integrated into its superstructure and then connected at the start of the walkways to the gunwale. The prow, which is instead decidedly contemporary in design, contributes to enhance the model’s aerodynamics. The whole area of the bow moorings is concealed, operated with an automatic up/down mechanism to maintain the streamlined design aesthetic. Turning now to the interior, Pershing 140 owners can design their superyacht assisted by the designers of the Studio Fulvio De Simoni Firm and by the Project Architects of the Superyacht Yard of Ferretti Group. The new Pershing 140 features an original layout of the aft area, configured as a raised cockpit that becomes a mezzanine level: this creates a large waterside space that rises from the water up to the sun deck and joins together the entire aft section. This revolutionary design produces a vast waterside beach club, entirely accessible and furnishable with stools, chairs and freestanding pieces. The garage can accommodate both a Williams 565 tender and a jet ski. Launching and hauling operations are carried out by opening the two side hatches on the port side. The upper deck of the Pershing 140 is perfectly in line with the overall privacy assured to the central part, which is protected by an aluminium hard-top. This 80ft luxury craft belongs to the shipyard’s new range of sailing catamarans and is intended exclusively for private navigation. GIJA’ vast main saloon features a cosy lounging area to starboard, a dining space to portside and a central kitchen island with a wine-cooler and retractable TV. To the bow, the saloon gives access to the generous forward terrace. Towards the aft, the sliding door opens onto the cockpit, offering alfresco dining space, a wet bar and also a multifunctional aft platform. Down in the hulls, GIJA sleeps up to six guests in supreme comfort thanks to a smart threecabin layout. The yacht’s starboard hull houses the opulent master suite with a king-size bed, a sofa, desk, dressing corner and an elegant bathroom clad in light grey quartz. Further to the bow, the guest cabin features a double bed, plenty of storage and a big bathroom. Another identically set up cabin is found in the port hull along with the yacht’s two galleys and crew quarters. Designed for daytime lounging and dining, GIJA’s flybridge offers immense living space with large sunbeds, a BBQ bar, a large heightadjustable table and free-standing furniture. The latest in the Sunreef 80 series, which saw another delivery, Gaya, before the end of last year, boasts desirable outdoor areas elsewhere. Up top, for instance, the flying bridge beckons with big sunbeds. There’s no need to go below for meals, either, due to a barbecue here. Back on the main deck, meanwhile, the saloon yields access to a foredeck terrace, between the hulls. Speaking of the hulls, all staterooms, including the master, are contained within them. Gija has a three-stateroom configuration, with the master and one guest stateroom to starboard. Even though the two guest cabins are separate, they’re identical in size and design. The light greys characterizing the common areas above characterize the master, too, especially the en suite bath. Bold purples mix in as well. When Bader Mubarak first saw his new Gulf Craft Nomad 75 SUV yacht, simple pleasure cruises and lazy days anchored off the coast were the furthest thing from his mind. He instantly set his sights on something far more adventurous and decided to sail his UAEbuilt yacht from Dubai all the way to Cyprus for the ultimate Mediterranean summer holiday. The Emirati CEO of Fish Farm LLC comes from a proud family of sailors, with his father having set up Mubarak Marine LLC with his two brothers in 1979, so the 3,300-nautical mile journey across five different bodies of water appealed to Bader’s two favourite pastimes – spending time at sea and overcoming challenges. “We needed something comfortable for this trip and the Nomad 75 SUV was perfect,” he said. “A boat this size gives you range and speed.” Bader purchased his yacht from Gulf Craft’s Ajman dockyard, naming it ‘Dubai Moon’. ELIXIR ELIXIR will be being showcased at Appontement Jules Soccal by Y.CO together with AMELS. Delivered in June 2016, the 55-metre (180 ft) ELIXIR is an enchanting incarnation of the successful AMELS 180. With ever more impressive models being produced, Porsche have firmly established themselves in the very upper echelons of the luxury SUV segment. Over the years, Porsche have managed to set themselves apart from most other car manufacturers. They have done this through their unwavering dedication to style, luxury, class and above all through superior technology and performance. This iconic brand has gained an ever increasing international following and respect since its founding in 1931 as they constantly produce offerings that are not only functionally superior to other car manufacturers, but are also beautiful to look at from every angle. With ever more impressive models being produced, Porsche have firmly established themselves in the very upper echelons of the luxury SUV segment. We at Hadag Magazine recently had the privilege of experiencing this automobile excellence when we were invited by the team at Porsche Centre Bahrain to test drive the new Porsche Cayenne Coupé. One may think that the Cayenne Range has only a certain amount of room for improvement after which only the bells and whistles can be upgraded. This is not the truth as was proven to us by this new model SUV. We immediately noticed the dynamic fresh design of this third-generation model, complete with its sharper lines and unique rear section. The elegant roofline of this athletic looking vehicle has a sharper slope to it that falls away to the rear making it the sportiest-looking model in the segment. The roof spoiler accentuates this effect and is combined with a new adaptive rear spoiler that form part of the label’s new Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA). This spoiler extends by 135 mm from speeds of 90 km/h upwards, increasing the contact pressure of the rear axle, whilst the PAA simultaneously improves efficiency. The A-pillar and front windscreen are now flatter than previous Cayenne models, with the roof edge having been lowered by around twenty millimetres. The rear doors and fenders have also been redesigned, adding to this SUV’s powerful and sophisticated presence. An impressive 2.16 m2 fixed glass roof is fitted as standard, although a contoured carbon roof is also available upon request. Once inside the luxurious cabin area, we instantly noticed the abundance of space on offer. This freedom of movement combined with the new eight-way sports seats complete with integrated headrests, ensure unparalleled levels of comfort, support and functionality. All of the materials, trimmings, fabrics and finishes found inside are of premium quality and the overall design is simply exceptional. This new Coupé features a rear bench that 70

has the characteristics of two individual seats that are fitted as standard, although the familiar comfort rear seats can be fitted as an alternative at no extra cost. The spaciousness of the cabin is echoed in the rear with ample leg, shoulder and head room providing an exceptionally comfortable space for passengers. The 625-litre boot capacity ensures this car is capable of transporting a generous amount of luggage, giving it an element of practicality. This can be increased to 1,540 litres when the back seats are folded flat. More than impressed with both the interior and exterior of the vehicle, it was time to experience it’s on road capabilities. As soon as foot was applied to pedal, we could not help but smile at one another as we felt our bodies being pressed back into our seats. The Cayenne’s turbocharged V6 engine roared smoothly as we effortlessly surged forward along the tarmac. With a threelitre displacement delivering 340 hp and a maximum torque of 450 Nm, this sporty SUV has more power on offer than should ever be required. With the Sport Chrono Package fitted in series production vehicles, this midsized luxury SUV races from 0 – 100 km/h in just 6.0 seconds and boasts a top speed of 243 km/h. With the PAA assuring we stayed glued to the ground as we powered around corners and sped along the straights, we found the handling of the vehicle to be superb and always felt in complete control of the experience. This feeling of security was hugely enhanced by an extremely efficient braking system as well as the presence of a multitude of standard safety features. The term “time flies when you’re having fun” certainly applied here and all too soon we found this lavish experience nearing an end as we made our way back to Porsche Centre Bahrain. Our conclusion: If you are looking for an extravagant SUV that delivers in all areas of functionality, performance, design and pure class, then look no further than the exuberant new Porsche Cayenne Coupé.

undergone training at Maranello in Northern Italy, the home of Ferrari. One of their very first tasks is to verify the origin and maintenance history of these vehicles to ensure they have been properly taken care of and have no major accidents in their service history. These technicians painstakingly prepare both the exterior and interior of each car to ensure that every aspect of the vehicle is in top condition. This fastidious process then enables them to provide a guarantee for these cars of up to 24 months. If you are wondering how thorough these inspections are, all in all a total of 190 individual checks are carried out before a used Ferrari may be bestowed with an Approved “license”. This detailed examination includes a mechanical operation test as well as a test on the operation of the electrical system. Liquid levels are also carefully examined, as are the state of the suspension, brakes, cooling system and steering system. These are but a handful of the primary checks implemented on all vehicles. On top of these, secondary checks are carried out on air conditioning, the dashboard and all safety systems.
