“Leadership means being an example and a source of motivation to encourage your team to be the best it can be,” said Jess Feaga, Distribution Accounting Supervisor at Snyder’s-Lance Inc., and a 2017 graduate of Leadership Hanover. Meeting one day a month for six months, the program focuses on key components of the community, including: education, economic development, health and wellness, local government and state government.

Students Recognized at Best and Brightest Ceremony The Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with Hanover, South Western, Delone Catholic, New Oxford and Spring Grove school districts recognized graduates from the class of 2017 in the annual Best and Brightest Ceremony on Sun., May 7 at Conewago Valley School District Auditorium. The Chamber would like to thank Elsner Engineering Works for sponsoring the event. Dr. Alison McMaster, DO, served as the keynote speaker. Dr. McMaster is a member of the Conewago Valley School District Class of 2001 and currently practices medicine in Hanover.

Chamber Holds Quarterly Legislative Roundtable The Chamber held its quarterly Legislative Roundtable on May 5 at Dutch Country Restaurant. The speakers included Representative Kate Klunk, Representative Stan Saylor and Congressman Scott Perry’s Deputy Chief of Staff Robert Riley. Conversation at the roundtable centered on state and federal budgets as well as healthcare. Representative Saylor said he is trying to ensure that small businesses will not be impacted negatively by the budget. Riley talked about the federal budget and the changes currently being worked on. Join us for our next Legislative Roundtable on August 4!

Community News GETTYSBURG CAMPUS HACC TO OFFER COMMUNITY EDUCATION DAY

For adults who want to breakout from their everyday routine, a unique one-day learning opportunity will be offered on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Gettysburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College. The day of learning will allow individuals to feed a passion, explore an interest and learn something new. The Gettysburg Campus Community Education Day will offer 16 informative educational sessions.

Participants will have an opportunity to choose three sessions. Class topics include genealogy, pop culture, history, holistic health, retirement, and much more. A continental breakfast and bagged lunch is also included in the $49.00 registration fee. DOCEO Office Solutions Opens New Office in Hunt Valley, MD

TAW Looking to Expand Workforce and Rent Storage Space

DOCEO Office Solutions recently opened a new office in Hunt Valley, MD at 50 Scott Adam Road. This is the first Maryland location for the company.

TAW Distribution is a leader of fulfillment and distribution with an 85 year history as the preeminent direct-to-consumer distributor of books, video and consumer products in the U.S. TAW welcomes projects of all shapes and sizes and provides customized solutions for the unique business needs of every client.

The new office is the sixth location for the company which joins existing branches in York, Lancaster, Harrisburg, Carlisle and Hanover, PA. The company continues to grow its territory to enable them to service clients more efficiently. The business expansion helps the company reach new and existing businesses who seek an alternative for cost-effective printing and copying services. The company will also provide professional development opportunities to local community members. DOCEO’s business models support the local communities in which they serve.

TrueNorth Wellness Services Breaks Ground for Hanover-based Autism Center

TAW has been a member of the Hanover community for many years. The company currently operates a facility at 348 Poplar St. Over two million direct-to-consumer shipments are distributed annually by TAW, which currently has 33 full-time employees. The company offers a variety of fulfillment services and transportation and shipping options. Its clients include Bookspan, Columbia House DVD Club and National Geographic Partners. TAW is currently looking to build a 5-10 person part-time workforce for the first six workdays (Monday - Friday) of each month. TAW offers flexible work hours during its operational hours (7 a.m. - 5 p.m.). Additionally, TAW currently has storage space available (2,000 pallets positions) for use on a monthly or long-term basis. For additional information, contact TAW Distribution at (717) 6373841.

Sam’s Club Opens Membership and Hiring Center in Hanover

TrueNorth Wellness Services held a groundbreaking ceremony on April 21 for its Autism Center, to be located at 1181 Westminster Ave., Hanover, PA. The Autism Center will serve as the home for its relocated and expanded Hanover-based autism services, including The Amazing Kids Club. TrueNorth Wellness Services works with more than 400 individuals in York and Adams counties. A $3.5 million capital campaign to support the costs of the center’s construction is ongoing. Members of the public can also sponsor a Pathway Paver or piece of original artwork created by participants in The Amazing Kids Club, or donate online directly at http://www.firstgiving.com/10670/support-us. The Center has a targeted grand opening date of fall 2017.

AquaPhoenix Opens New Location

On April 6, AquaPhoenix held a ribbon cutting for its new location at 860 Gitts Run Road. The property will be AquaPhoenix’s home base and secure additional space for the future growth of the company. It includes 22 acres of land and more than 192,000 square feet of manufacturing space and warehouse.

Travel Time Travel Receives Agency Award

Travel Time Travel, with offices in York and Lancaster, PA recently received an agency excellence award in Orlando, FL. Travel Time was one of only 25 travel agencies to receive this award.

Barley Snyder is proud to announce that attorney Brian A. Korman has been named to the board of directors for the Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster.

Barley Snyder is proud to announce a change in leadership at the top of its Education Law Practice Group with William J. Zee assuming the chair position, succeeding Kim R. Smith.

Korman, a city resident and Lancaster County native, started at the firm in September and works in Barley Snyder’s Business and Real Estate practice groups. He is now part of the board at the club after serving on the ground level as a volunteer the last four years. At Barley Snyder, Korman works with businesses in general corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, start-ups and entity formation, succession planning and buy-sell agreements for family-owned businesses.

Both Smith and Zee came to Barley Snyder in 2015 from the former Lancaster firm Hartman Underhill and Brubaker. Barley Snyder absorbed HUB’s education group that year. Smith had been the Education Law Practice Group’s chair since the group started at Barley Snyder. Zee is a presenter at education events, workshops and seminars, throughout the country. He and colleague David Walker, another attorney at Barley Snyder, presented in late April at the 38th National Institute on Legal Issues of Educating Individuals with Disabilities outside Washington, D.C.

DOCEO OFFICE SOLUTIONS HIRES KRISTEN WOLF DOCEO

Office Solutions has hired Kristen Wolf as a Technology Consultant. Kristen will educate and provide office solutions to customers in York County that include copiers, printers and document management software. Most recently, Kristen worked for WPS Office Solutions as a technology consultant where she gained 2 years of experience in the field. Kristen was born and raised in York County and has been part of the community her entire life. “I’m very excited about the opportunity to be part of a fast growing, forward-thinking business like DOCEO Office Solutions,” said Kristen.

Cory A. Cuffley, CPA, MAC, Supervisor at Smith Elliott Kearns & Company, LLC (SEK&Co), has been appointed to the Executive Committee of the South Central Chapter of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). The Executive Committee consists of the chapter officers and active members that are elected by chapter membership to represent them. The Executive Committee is responsible for the operations of the chapter, formulating plans to benefit chapter membership, and has the power to direct and control the expenditure of chapter funds. Cuffley’s two-year term was effective as of May 1, 2017. Cuffley joined SEK&Co in 2011 and works in the Tax and Accounting Services Departments of the firm’s Hanover office. He specializes in providing tax and review services to individuals and business clients, ranging from small and medium-sized businesses to large, multi-state corporations.

MSH 2016 Annual Highlights

Main Street Hanover is a partnership of the Hanover Borough, Hanover Chamber, and YCEA.

Main Street Hanover announced its new status as a 2016 Main Street America Accredited Program during our annual meeting. The Main Street America program accreditation process evaluates Main Street programs according to 10 performance standards and provides national recognition to those that meet these standards.

In 2016, MSH... •

Implemented a robust Façade Grant program, using Department of Community and Economic Development Grants as a Designated Keystone Community, leveraging over $106,000 in investment into properties in downtown Hanover. (All projects to be completed by year end 2017) Worked with the four local service clubs to fundraise and facilitate the Christmas activities in downtown Hanover. -Decorated the downtown Christmas Tree and hosted the tree lighting ceremony -Encouraged holiday shopping in Hanover’s core commercial business district -Held 3rd Annual Christmas Tree Wars — 31 unique Christmas trees -Hosted over 2,100 children at Santa’s Cabin Santa’s Cabin

MSH also held the 6th Annual Chalk It Up and 2nd Annual Sip & Stroll event attracting over 500 people to downtown Hanover. These events included: • 120+ Chalk Artists • Over 500 Sip & Stroll Participants • 24 stops • 43 participating businesses • Evening concert by Deep Six • One full day of downtown Hanover fun! Additionally, MSH Launched 2nd Hanover Geo Trail – Hanover Geo Trail Geocaching on June 4 for treasure hunters to begin their search.

Main Street Hanover is again organizing this year’s Downtown Beautification Program. Spring is here and we are looking forward to beautifying Hanover’s downtown with professional planters and hanging baskets. Please consider helping make Downtown Hanover more beautiful and inviting by sponsoring hanging baskets, planters and/or making a general donation. Please note that all baskets and planters will be located in Center Square. This program also includes maintenance, so that our flowers will look beautiful throughout the season.
