CGA Law Firm opened an office at 215 Broadway in downtown Hanover to better serve its Hanover clients

For 39 years, this location was the office of Attorney Larry Wolf who provided quality legal services to his Hanover clients. In 2021, Larry joined CGA to retire and transition his clients to the firm. He specifically chose CGA because of the firm’s mission, full service capabilities, and commitment to core values. Larry believes that CGA’s dedication in these three areas creates a collaborative culture that sets the law firm apart from all others. His dedicated legal assistant, Elaine Phillips, who worked with him for almost 30 years, continues to staff the Hanover office.

CGA was founded in April 1967 by three attorneys who shared a mission to provide exceptional legal service and be a force for good in their community. Over the years, the firm hired attorneys who shared that passion and determination, growing the firm’s ranks to over 30 attorneys. Enthusiasm for law and the community continues to create a culture of collaboration that can be felt in all interactions. When you retain one CGA attorney, you gain the experience and expertise of all the attorneys, judges, and paralegals within the firm.

The team consists of approximately 70 professionals who serve businesses, individuals, and government entities (such as schools and municipalities). With three offices located in York and Adams Counties, this full-service law firm serves clients throughout South Central PA in many areas of law including bankruptcy and debt restructuring, business and corporate law, education, elder care, estate planning, family law, employment, litigation, mediation, municipal, and real estate. CGA Law Firm lives up to its motto: One firm, all the law you need.℠

The Job Market Keeps Turning Out Jobs

Despite inflation’s headwinds, the economy keeps turning out jobs. Job gains were 315,000 in August. Expectations were between 285,000 and 350,000.

Why it matters: The biggest issue in the job market continues to be too few workers in the labor force. We took a step in the right direction on that front.

•The labor force grew by 786,000. We are now 163,000 above the prepandemic participation level.

But the population and the economy have grown over the past two-and-half years, and the participation rate is still below its pre-pandemic level.

•If we had the same participation rate now as then, there would be 2.75 million more workers in the labor force.

By the numbers:

•Wages rose 0.3% from July and 5.2% annually from August 2021. Inflation is above that annual growth so inflation-adjusted wages are still declining.

•Education and health services added 68,000; professional business services 68,000; wholesale and retail trade 59,000; leisure and hospitality 31,000; manufacturing 22,000; financial activities 17,000; and construction 16,000.

Bottom line: The robust jobs market will quell talk of a recession. August was a good report – especially the jump in the labor force –but we need to get even more workers back into the market to fill job openings that remain near record highs.
