Harlow Town Park - Update December 2018 Its been a busy period in the park since October (the last update). Groundwork East, supervising students doing their Level 1 Horticulture have helped with the regeneration of the Rhododendron Dell, cleared and dug over the Peace bed by the Greyhound toilets and a large bed in the Newfoundland Garden. We have exciting plans to replant these with designs from a local garden designer, who also supplied plans for the War Memorial replanting, currently being consulted on. The Walled Garden is being improved with the completion of the surrounding walls restoration and a new log cabin is being installed to allow more accommodation for visiting school groups and others as the Learning Centre is now fully booked during weekdays.

The Town Park Users Group (TPUG) who hold their meetings in the Learning Centre at 7pm (the leaflet promotes their next meeting in mid March 2019) are being helped with development of their group by Groundwork East. The latter have received funding from the Heritage lottery Fund through their Future Proof programme to develop young peoples involvement in the group, plus other groups such as Harlow Conservation Volunteers who work in the park. They are always looking for new members. If you are interested in this or anything else happening in the park, please get in touch with me, Mike Levett, Education & Volunteer Officer, on 01279 435466 or email mike.levett@harlow.gov.uk

Harlow College Supported Studies students have been busy clearing ivy by the Greyhound car park, and their help is greatly appreciated. The weekly Town Park volunteers are assisted by volunteers from Open Road who meet at the Walled Garden every Thursday. In the rest of the Park we have installed new welcome board signs and fingerposts at the Altham Grove and First Avenue entrances and several of the Town Park volunteers have continued with the bench refurbishment programme.
