Happy Fall Semester! As of August 24 , the Library has reopened on a limited basis, by reservation, to serve HCC students and employees; see page 2 for detailed information about the Library’s available resources and services. Be sure to also read about some important events taking and the accompanying resources provided by the Library.
Library Database Access

Kanopy is now available for HCC Faculty to use in their distance learning courses and in the classroom. Choose from a selection of award-winning documentaries and films from The Criterion Collection, Media Education Foundation, The Great Courses, Women Make Movies, Kino Lorber, New Day Films, A24 Films, Grasshopper Films, Frederick Wiseman, Zeitgeist Films, Oscilloscope, Music Box Films, Psychotherapy.net, First Run Features, Cinema Guild, Bleecker Street Films, and many other acclaimed producers and distributors.
NOTE: After your account has been created, you will just need to click LOGIN the next time you visit the platform. Kanopy also makes it easy to share URLs with your students. When you have found the video you would like to share, just click the Share tab below and copy and paste the Share Link into Blackboard, email, etc. Students will be prompted to log in with

One Maryland, One Book This fall, readers across Maryland will engage in virtual discussions of the book, The Island of Sea Women, by Lisa See, as part of the Maryland Humanities’ One Maryland, One Book program. From the Maryland Humanities website: “The book chronicles the lives and friendship between Young-sook and Mi-ja, two girls living on the Korean island of Jeju. They become the closest of friends[…] From the Japanese occupation of the 1930s and 1940s, World War II, to the Korean War, events will push their seemingly unbreakable bond to its breaking point.” Harford Community College Library plans to host one of the book discussions; for a list of the virtual discussions taking place across Maryland, as well as other Maryland Humanities events, visit https://www.mdhumanities.org/events/.

It is important to have an accurate snapshot count to assure proper federal funding of schools and food programs, daycare centers, libraries, hospitals, fire and police departments, critical community support programs, and for determining proper state legislative and congressional districts and the number of seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives. All online resources, such as databases and the NoodleTools citation program, are available for credit students and employees with their HCC network user name and password.
