Muchas veces, la pequeña gota que cae y golpea, con el tiempo, la perseverancia, constancia y esfuerzo, acaba por desgastar y amoldar la piedra a su antojo. Sin ponerse, de una manera pedante, tan filosófico, vemos en las páginas de este periódico algunas muy buenas noticias en cuanto a la consecución de nuevos objetivos y retos, que de manera padeciente y cíclica, arrastraba desde hace años, lustros o incluso décadas, la propia urbanización.

Casi se podría perder la cuenta de la cantidad de ediciones del Foro Empresarial Sotogrande que cada año organiza El Periódico de Sotogrande por otoño, en los que se abordó y se reclamó la necesidad de intervenir de una manera notoria en los accesos de la urbanización desde las primeras vías de carretera. Es decir, una primera impresión nunca se puede cambiar y desde hace años, esa parcela con las rotondas de salida y entrada a la A-7; la instantánea era deplorable.

En muchas ocasiones se habló de traspasar esas competencias de conservación, pertenecientes a Demarcación de Carreteras, a un estrato más local y de manera interna asumir ese mantenimiento y adecentamiento. Algo que al fin, después de años, se ha conseguido y podemos ver cómo van tomando forma poco a poco en las últimas semanas.

En esta ocasión, de la mano de la intervención de la EUC Parques de Sotogrande. Este mismo modelo, para ésta y otras entidades implicadas, también debería trasladarse a señalética, carteles, entradas, luminarias y otros aspectos que hacen que la urbanización hable más que con mil palabras. Sigamos esa senda.

Sotogrande: un referente sostenible europeo

Con la mirada en el cielo, pendiente de las posibles lluvias, despega al fin una nueva Semana Santa en la zona y con ella un arranque especial para la alta temporada en el entorno, una primera ventana en el calendario muy esperada para establecimientos comerciales, gastronómicos y hoteleros que cuentan las horas para este primer gran envite del año en Sotogrande y su área de influencia. Por cierto, muchos de ellos con un volumen de reserva a esta fecha, con una previsión de tiempo inestable, superior al 75%, un gran dato.

Menciono de manera muy intencionada esa alusión a las lluvias ya que precisamente, su constancia en las últimas semanas, han permitido salvar nuevamente una preocupante situación a nivel de reservas de agua en la zona y poder levantar, institucionalmente, todas las restricciones de uso que arrastraban varios sectores desde la sequía del pasado año.

Sotogrande: a sustainable European benchmark

Si les adelanto el dato de que prácticamente, el 85% del consumo en Sotogrande va destinado a riegos y usos similares; contar con una red de suministro de agua regenerada permitirá ser un baluarte y referente ambiental y sostenible como destino comprometido y vanguardista en sostenibilidad.

Muchas entidades privadas, precisamente como Real Club Valderrama, llevan años apostando y dando pasos enormes en la optimización de recursos, precisamente ellos construyeron una balsa para acumular agua. Este nuevo empuje, de manera institucional con un proyecto soberbio, permitirá a todo el complejo dar un paso al frente y ser nuevamente objeto referencial por su compromiso y proyección sostenible en el desarrollo y crecimiento del destino Sotogrande.

OPINIÓN

Optimismo y guerra comercial

Ser optimista ante la guerra comercial es difícil, pero no imposible.

Como vimos en el último número de El Periódico de Sotogrande, los aranceles causan víctimas entre la mayoría de la población. En eso se parecen a los controles de precios. Y también a los impuestos, y por eso advertimos que otro aspecto dañino de los aranceles es que a los políticos les pueden atraer por sus posibilidades recaudatorias. Las conocidas facetas negativas del proteccionismo comercial se han visto reflejadas en las Bolsas de todo el mundo. Es probable que la volatilidad de los mercados continúe hasta que el panorama arancelario se aclare, y la economía adopte un rumbo definido.

Sin embargo, todo este caos tiene algunos aspectos positivos. Comentó irónicamente el periodista Rafa Latorre, director de “La Brújula” en Onda Cero, que resultaba llamativo haya tantas voces de la izquierda, que habitualmente despotrican contra el liberalismo, pero que hoy se han vuelto entusiastas del librecambio. En la misma línea razonó el economista Daniel Lacalle, que apuntó que la dictadura comunista de China emite estos días vídeos de Ronald Reagan contra los aranceles, o que los medios más progresistas se acuerden hoy de Milton Friedman, o que las autoridades de la Unión Europea hayan reconocido que la burocracia daña a las empresas.

Si esto tiene algún recorrido en el futuro, puede haber una luz al final del túnel, porque puede ocurrir que la carrera arancelaria internacional no termine necesariamente siendo una carrera sin freno al alza.

Hemos sabido que unos 70 países, empezando por Japón, pero sin olvidar a México ni al propio Reino Unido, han declarado su intención de negociar con la Administración Trump una reducción bilateral del proteccionismo con los Estados Unidos. Quizá el

presidente americano no sea un mero bravucón y un patán. Quizá sea lo que dice que es: un negociador.

Tal como están las cosas, parece que lo más probable es el escenario negativo, es decir, una escalada proteccionista que empobrezca a la población y abra la puerta a una recesión.

Pero, como dice el refrán, la esperanza es lo último que se pierde.

Un plan para convertir a Sotogrande en un referente

europeo de sostenibilidad en el suministro de agua

• El Periódico de Sotogrande celebra un encuentro especial sobre el tratamiento y abastecimiento de agua en el Valle del Guadiaro para analizar planes de futuro y estrategias para optimizar un recurso clave para el destino.

• La viabilidad y ejecución de los proyectos de Gibralmedina y traer agua regenerada a la urbanización, puntos clave para convertir al resort en todo un referente continental.

El agua pasa por ser un bien clave y capital en el desarrollo del destino Sotogrande a medio y largo plazo. Las variantes de los últimos años, con una mayor aridez del clima y las probabilidades de extensas etapas sin precipitaciones [como las vividas el pasado curso], empujan a la imperiosa necesidad de crear, con perspectivas a futuro, planes y estrategias para garantizar uno de los bienes más importantes, en la actualidad, para el desarrollo de un destino: el agua. Para ello, El Periódico de Sotogrande, en vísperas de Semana Santa, lleva a cabo en esta edición especial un Desayuno informativo monotemático para abordar los diferentes planteamientos y propuestas de innovación en el abastecimiento de agua.

La realidad es que lejos de mensajes apocalípticos, las últimas precipitaciones a raíz de finales del mes de febrero hasta estos días, han permitido cambiar el escenario y perspectiva a nivel de embal-

ses de agua y garantizar, al menos por los próximos años, un abastecimiento pleno e integral de suministro en el Campo de Gibraltar. Como así lo atestiguó la Mesa de Sequía Comarcal, hace unos días, con el levantamiento de todas las restricciones que se mantenía desde el pasado año.

Un momento excepcional que además debe pasar por ser un instante clave para apostar, innovar e invertir en planes y estrategias que permitan no volver a recaer en este tipo de situaciones críticas y aporten a medio y largo plazo, aunque en uno de los casos puede ser con carácter muy próximo; soluciones que garanticen y aseguren un aprovisionamiento de agua en toda la Comarca y de manera especial, en el Valle del Guadiaro y su área de influencia en Sotogrande.

Y la realidad es que están encima de la mesa dos importantes proyectos que permitirán encarar estos retos con un compromiso de éxito seguro, en ambos sentidos. Por

un lado, el de la Presa Gibralmedina que asegurará el abastecimiento en las próximas décadas y que se encuentra en periodo de tramitación ambiental. Y por otro, de gran interés para toda el área de Sotogrande, un importante proyecto que permitirá traer agua regenerada desde la EDAR de La Línea de la Concepción a toda la zona norte, pasando por Alcaidesa, hasta el Valle del Guadiaro. Un importante avance, teniendo en cuenta que más del 80% del consumo en la zona va destinado al riego y otros usos similares, que perfectamente el agua regenerada puede asumir esta función.

Un proyecto, el del agua regenerada, que se encuentra en la actualidad muy avanzado y con muchas posibilidades, siempre que se termina de apuntalar detalles específicos del proyecto entre técnicos de la Junta de Andalucía y de Arcgisa, podría ver un inicio de obras para el tramo final de este año y contar con luz verde en un plazo de dos años. Noticias más que optimistas en este sentido.

Una situación de consenso, en el análisis de esta mesa de responsables y expertos en diferentes áreas, además de a todas luces un proyecto en común y en beneficio del usuario final. Y es que, a fin de cuentas, precisamente, lo más importante en este tipo de proyectos es contar con un plan establecido, que ya se encuentra perfectamente definido por Arcgisa; así como una cuota de “usuarios finales”, algo que precisamente tiene de sobra y demanda Sotogrande y toda su área de influencia. Un plan capaz de convertir a la urbanización en un gran referente en Europa, con este importante proyecto sostenible.

Tendría tres fases o tres principales patas: transformar la EDAR de La Línea y acondicionarla para este nuevo servicio, acondicionar la canalización de esta agua regenerada desde La Línea hasta la zona norte de la Comarca y una tercera, destinada al desarrollo de una red paralela de suministros dentro de la urbanización, algo en lo que ya trabajan de la mano Aguas del Valle del Guadiaro, Parques de Sotogrande y Arcgisa. Y es que, en ambos conceptos, más allá de posiciones políticas, residen buena parte de las garantías para el modelo económico y social tanto del

destino Sotogrande como de buena parte de la Costa del Sol, lo que permitirá a largo plazo convertir en viable, en sostenible y en innovador, un sistema de abastecimiento de agua de calidad regenerada.

Respecto a Gibralmedina, los plazos son más extensos y entre tramitaciones y expedientes, podría alargarse en más de dos años el inicio del siguiente paso y etapa del proyecto, aunque, el punto fun-

damental en ello, es encontrar ese principio de financiación para llevar a cabo una obra de varios cientos de millones de euros que permitiría asegurar el suministro tanto a la Comarca como a la Costa del Sol.

En definitiva, establecer este momento como un instante fundamental y propenso para avanzar y poner en marcha estos proyectos que de ma-

nera responsable ayuden a preservar el agua y a su vez, aprovechar todas las herramientas e innovaciones para optimizar su uso, tanto a nivel institucional, como particular. Aprovechar la buena situación del momento para actuar, como así se están dando los pasos, y asegurar el futuro; para así no esperar una nueva situación de crisis para aportar soluciones.

The fact is that there are two important projects on the table that will make it possible to tackle these challenges with the commitment of certain success, in both directions. On one hand, the Gibralmedina Dam which will ensure supply over coming decades and which is in the period of environmental processing. And on the other, of great interest for the entire Sotogrande area, an important project that will make it possible to bring regenerated water from the treatment plant of La Línea de la Concepción to the entire northern area, going through Alcaidesa, to Valle del Guadiaro. An important step forward, considering that over 80% of consumption in the area is allocated to irrigation and similar uses, and regenerated water can perfectly fulfil that role.

A project, regenerated water, that is currently at a very advanced stage and with many possibilities, provided that specific details end up being finalised between technicians from the Regional Government of Andalusia and Arcgisa, work could start on the final stage this year and we could get the green light within a period of two years. News that is very optimistic in this regard.

A situation of consensus, in the analysis of this committee of managers and experts in different area, and also clearly a shared project and for the benefit of the end user. Ultimately, what indeed is most important in these types of projects is having a set plan, which has already been perfectly specified by Arcgisa; as well as a number of “end users”, which there are an excess number of in Sotogrande and its entire area of influence.

A plan capable of turning the resort into a great benchmark in Europe, with this important sustainable project.

It would have three phases or three main components: transforming the wastewater treatment plant in La Línea and renovating it for this new service, improving the piping of this regenerated water from La Línea to the northern region of the Province, and a third, tar-

geted at developing a parallel supply network within the resort, something that they are already working on alongside Aguas del Valle del Guadiaro, Parques de Sotogrande and Arcgisa. The fact is that both concepts, beyond political positions, contain a large number of the guarantees for the economic and social model, both for Sotogrande as a destination and a large part of the

Costa del Sol, which will make it possible into the long term to turn it into a supply system for quality regenerated water that is viable, sustainable, and innovative.

With regard to Gibralmedina, the periods are longer and between procedures and files, it could take over two years for the start of the next step and stage of the project although,

Tras la celebración de la Comisión de Gestión de la Sequía de la demarcación de las Cuencas Mediterráneas Andaluzas, de la que es miembro ARCGISA, y una vez analizado el impacto de las precipitaciones registradas durante estas últimas semanas y su repercusión en el agua embalsada, el órgano gestor de la sequía ha procedido al levantamiento de las restricciones al consumo de agua en el Campo de Gibraltar, que pasa de encontrase en una situación de escasez severa (estado de alerta) a una situación de normalidad

hidrológica al revertir muy notablemente el déficit hídrico padecido durante los tres últimos años. La nueva situación hidrológica, de normalidad para el Sistema Campo de Gibraltar, ha determinado que se aumente la dotación máxima de 200 a 250 litros por habitante y día en el uso urbano, mientras que, en el uso agrario, el volumen de riego se vea incrementa desde los 4 a los 8 hm3, relajándose las medidas de ahorro tanto para el consumo de agua de uso urbano como para riego agrícola.

After the holding today of a new meeting of the Drought Management Committee of the demarcation of Andalusian Mediterranean Basins, which ARCGISA is a member of, and having analysed the impact of rainfall recorded over recent weeks and its impact on water in reservoirs, the drought management body has lifted restrictions on the consumption of water in Campo de Gibraltar, which has changed from being in a state of severe shortage (emergency state) to being in a normal water situation by significantly reversing the water deficit suffered over the last three years. The new water situation, normal for the Campo de Gibraltar System, has meant that the maximum provision has increased from 200 to 250 litres per inhabitant per day for urban use, while, for agricultural use, the irrigation volume will be increased from 4 to 8 hm3, with the saving measures relaxed for both the consumption of urban use water and for agricultural irrigation.

The leaders of the public company ARCGISA, outlined their satisfaction at the lifting of restrictive measures and thanked citizens, the eight councils and the farming and industrial sectors for the work carried out during this temporary period.

Likewise, in line with the investments in water carried out by the public company thanks to the subsidies received, ARCGISA will continue to work for the development of the infrastructure required for water in the province in order to guarantee, in the medium and long term, the provision of water to the public and the productive sectors and have the necessary resources for new water deficit situations that may arise.

We live in a world where the only constant is change. Sometimes unnoticeable, at other times sudden, like a storm that breaks out in the middle of a sunny day. Everything that we believe to be firm and lasting, is in reality held up my wires that are more fragile than we would like to admit.

Just a few weeks ago it seemed clear who the “good guy” and the “bad guy” was in global geopolitics. However, it took a handful of speeches, some strategic decisions and the Trump effect to move the entire chess board. Zelenski, a symbol of resistance, is now viewed by some people as another piece in a worn-out system. This is madness in my opinion. Who would have said it?

The same applies to business. 30 Years ago, the 20 biggest companies in the world featured names such as General Electric, Exxon, and IBM. Today, many have been replaced by technological giants who, in turn, may be irrelevant in two decades. Nothing is guaranteed.

However, we have difficulty accepting this impermanence. We prefer the illusion of stability, to the vertigo of reality. Therefore, perhaps the stoics were a step ahead of us. Durante años se ha insisto en la necesidad de mejorar y preservar los accesos de entrada a la urbanización, desde la perspectiva de las dos rotondas de tránsito para la entrada y salida en ambos sentidos de la A-7 a su paso por Sotogrande. Finalmente, después de todos los trámites burocráticos, la Entidad Urbanística de Conservación Parques de Sotogrande logró ejecutar estos trabajaros de rehabilitación para la reparación y paisajismo de ambas rotondas, uno de los proyectos y demandas de mayor trayectoria por parte de residentes, visitantes y sector empresarial.

Los trabajos comenzaron a finales del pasado año y en estas fechas, con vistas al arranque de la nueva temporada en Semana Santa, ya están totalmente preparadas y con trabajos de conservación y mantenimiento para preservar su mejor estado.

Con algo más de tiempo quedarán completamente embellecida esta icónica entrada, primera impresión de la urbanización a su lle-

gada y salida, a medida que vayan tomando forma, presencia y espacio la vegetación y paisajismo destinado para ello. La propia EUC será la encargada de su mantenimiento.

Resaltar que todos los conductos preparados para ello y espacios de salida de agua permitieron encaminar sin incidencias, algo más que destacado, un volumen de agua por metro cuadrado casi sin precedentes en el último siglo en Sotogrande.

Todo listo para la celebración de la Semana Santa en San Roque 2025

La revista de la Semana Santa de San Roque 2025 comienza a llegar a los hogares sanroqueños. La publicación está editada por la empresa municipal Multimedia junto al Consejo Local de Hermandades y Cofradías de San Roque y ha contado con la colaboración de la delegación de Tradiciones, además de Afosan y personas del mundo cofrade.

La revista de la Semana Santa de San Roque 2025 está compuesta por un total de 50 páginas, donde se muestran los saludas de las autoridades junto a los de los diferentes pregoneros y el autor del cartel anunciador.

Hace un recorrido por las diferentes hermandades y salidas cronológicamente, desde el Vía Crucis del viernes de Dolores, la Borriquita, el Domingo de Ramos, el Escuadrón de Romanos, junto a las Hermandades y Cofradías que realizan sus salidas a lo largo de la Semana de Pasión y en la Procesión Magna. Y, por último, muestra los horarios y recorridos de cada uno de los días desde el viernes de Dolores al Domingo de Resurrección.

Ampliado en dos horas el horario de hostelería durante la Semana Santa

Este decreto se pondrá en marcha desde el Domingo de Ramos al Domingo de Resurrección. Una semana en la que se pretende potenciar el comercio local.

La Federación Provincial de Empresarios de Hostelería ha solicitado al Ayuntamiento de San Roque la ampliación del horario de cierre de los establecimientos de este sector durante la Semana Santa. Como ha ocurrido en años anteriores, el alcalde, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, ha accedido a esta petición, y ha emitido un Decreto en ese sentido. En la disposición final de dicho Decreto, se autoriza a la Federación Provincial de Empresarios de Hostelería la ampliación del horario de cierre de los establecimientos de hostelería y esparcimiento en dos horas más de lo establecido, con motivo de la Semana Santa 2025 (desde el Domingo de Ramos al Domingo de Resurrección, ambos inclusive), en el ámbito territorial de San Roque.

Declarada como de Interés Turístico Nacional de Andalucía, la Procesión Magna es una de las más destacables muestras de fervor de la provincia de Cádiz, que sirve de punto de encuentro para muchos sanroqueños que viven fuera de la Ciudad.

También es un foco de atracción de turistas españoles y extranjeros, que disfrutan de un gran espectáculo y de la intensidad y solemnidad con las que se vive este día en San Roque.

“La Mancomunidad es clave en la defensa de los intereses de la Comarca”

Juntos sumamos más. ¿Es el gran papel de la Mancomunidad? Su efecto integrador para la Comarca Por supuesto. La Mancomunidad desempeña un notable papel integrador. Desde su creación la Institución Comarcal tiene presente y mantiene vigente su clara apuesta por buscar caminos de unidad, diálogo y consenso entre sus municipios. Nuestra responsabilidad como gobierno comarcal es profundizar en esa unidad, porque juntos somos más fuertes, tal y como indica la pregunta.

Le ha tocado vivir un momento clave, como es el 40º aniversario. ¿Cómo se plantea el resto del año? Vivimos una extraordinaria gala de premios hace sólo unas semanas… El 40 aniversario tuvo su inicio con la gran celebración del Día de la Comarca. En esta especial edición, se convirtió en una multitudinaria “fiesta ciudadana”, agradeciendo el trabajo realizado por todos los empleados públicos que han trabajado en la entidad desde su creación. Durante el año 2025, la Mancomunidad realizará diferentes actividades que pondrán en valor su papel, su importancia y la necesidad de contar con una entidad supramunicipal para defender los intereses de los campogibraltareños.

¿Cuáles son los próximos retos de Mancomunidad?

Destacando seis retos por la proximidad del momento y su importancia señalaría los siguientes:

La participación activa de la Mancomunidad en el momento

histórico que se alcance un acuerdo postbrexit; seguir profundizando en la optimización de la prestación de servicios públicos de calidad de nuestra empresa Arcgisa ; la puesta en marcha del sistema comarcal de agua regenerada; el desarrollo de la infraestructura necesaria para dar cumplimiento a los objetivos establecidos por la Ley 7/2022, de 8 de abril, de residuos y suelos contaminados para una economía circular; lograr inversiones en materia hidráulica en el territorio que nos permitan afrontar escenario de escasez hídrica en el que pueda encontrarse nuevamente la comarca; y continuar reivindicando mejores infraestructuras para el Campo

de Gibraltar, especialmente en nuestras conexiones.

Su papel, a nivel turístico, es indispensable… Sí, con rotundidad. Gracias a la campaña de promoción lanzada por la Junta de Andalucía (Andalusian Crush), entre los que se encuentra el Campo de Gibraltar, la Comarca ha experimentado un revulsivo, recibiendo un importante impulso al estar reconocida su importancia dentro del sector turístico desde el más potente destino turístico de España. En el sector turístico, el Campo de Gibraltar puede presumir de “tener de todo”, un inmenso y único patrimonio natural, playas, montañas, turismo de costa, de interior, deportes náuticos, turismo cultural…y una excelente y sorprendente riqueza gastronómica. Dos pilares turísticos únicos y plenamente consolidados e internacionalmente reconocidos como son Tarifa y Sotogrande, pero sin olvidarnos de la enorme riqueza y potencial de cada uno de los ocho municipios.

Lo mismo ocurre con grandes iniciativas como las orientadas a la Mujer, relación con Europa, actividades culturales, etc. En el capítulo de las políticas

de Igualdad, la Mancomunidad destaca por su compromiso inquebrantable con la igualdad entre hombres y mujeres y mantiene viva la reivindicación del trabajo realizado por la institución promoviendo políticas y acciones que garanticen la igualdad de derechos y oportunidades para todas las personas.

Ofrecer información e impulsar y reforzar el conocimiento sobre la Unión Europea y sus valores, historia, símbolos y principales hitos, a lo que se une su funcionamiento e instituciones, es objetivo de la Mancomunidad.

En materia cultural, se asumió la función de promover el desarrollo cultural desde un punto de vista especialmente comarcal. Con la creación del Instituto de Estudios Campogibraltareños, la comarca cuenta un valioso organismo que tiene como objetivos servir, rescatar, proteger y potenciar el patrimonio cultural .

Me gustaría resaltar la gran influencia que tiene este organismo en descubrir y dar espacio a nuevos talentos campogibraltareños…

Si existe un organismo en la Mancomunidad experto en descubrir y dar espacio a nuevos talentos es sin duda el

IECG. A través de iniciativas como las Jornadas Transdisciplinares, el Instituto de Estudios alienta a los jóvenes campogibraltareños a sumergirse en el campo de la investigación cultural, al compartir, junto a sus profesores, la experiencia de presentar y debatir sus propios trabajos en el seno del IECG. Hablando de Gibraltar, ¿cuándo y cómo cree que se cerrará el acuerdo marco con los vecinos del Peñón?

El deseo es que sea lo antes posible y mediante un acuerdo que traiga prosperidad al Campo de Gibraltar y a Gibraltar. Un acuerdo que sea bien visto por todas las partes implicadas, un acuerdo que haga posible que la zona de prosperidad compartida sea una realidad, de manera que el Brexit no se recuerde como algo negativo en la historia del territorio, sino una oportunidad de crecimiento y desarrollo, de futuro y de buena vecindad.

Antes de acabar, una vez finalizada su presidencia (esperemos que dentro de mucho), ¿qué legado le gustaría dejar? Sinceramente creo que todos los presidentes y presidentas de esta Institución queremos lograr que la Mancomunidad sea una institución plenamente reconocida por la ciudadanía, útil y cercana. Una entidad que forma parte de la vida de los ciudadanos al gestionar unos servicios públicos esenciales de calidad y que, a la vez que mantiene firmemente su compromiso con el medio ambiente, deja patente su deber y responsabilidad con las políticas sociales, educativas, culturales, de desarrollo social y económico y de impulso y promoción territorial de nuestra comarca. El mejor legado es que recuerden este mandato político como fructífero para el Campo de Gibraltar porque el trabajo realizado en cualquiera de las áreas de gestión tiene una notable repercusión en el territorio y sus ciudadanos.

Of course. The Association of Municipalities plays a notable integrative role. Since its creation, the Provincial Institution has been aware of and maintained its clear commitment to seeking pathway for unity, dialogue, and consensus among its municipalities.

Our responsibility as a provincial government is to deepen that unity because together we are stronger as the question indicates.

You’ve experienced a key moment the 40th anniversary. How are you approaching the rest of the year? We saw an extraordinary awards gala just a few weeks ago

The 40th anniversary got under way with the great celebration of the Day of the Province. At this special edition it became a mass “civic party”, we want to thank all the public employees who have worked on the entity since its crea-

tion for the work they have carried out.

During 2025, the Association of Municipalities will carry out different activities that will showcase its role, its importance, and the need to have a supra-municipal entity to defend the interests of the people of Campo de Gibraltar.

What are the next challenges for the Association of Municipalities?

Highlighting six challenges due to how close they are and their importance, I would point out the following: The active participation of the Association of Municipalities at the historic point at which a post-Brexit is reached; continuing to deepen the optimisation of the provision of quality public services from our company Arcgisa; the launch of the provincial system for regenerated water; the development of the necessary infrastructure to fulfil the objectives established by Law 7/2022, of 8 April, on waste and polluted soils for a circular economy; attaining investments for water resources in the

region that allow us to tackle a scenario of water scarcity that the province may find itself in again; and continuing to call for better infrastructures for Campo de Gibraltar, especially on our connections.

Its role, on a tourist level, is essential...

Yes, absolutely. Thanks to the promotion campaign launched by the Regional Government of Andalusia (Andalusian Crush), which includes Campo de Gibraltar, the Province has experienced a boost, gaining a significant impetus by having its importance recognised in the tourist sector through the most powerful tourist destination in Spain. In the tourist sector, Campo de Gibraltar can boast of “having everything”, immense and unique natural heritage, beaches, mountains, coastal tourism, inland tourism, water sports, cultural tourism.. and excellent and surprising gastronomic riches. Two unique and fully internationally consolidated renowned tourism pillars, Tarifa and Sotogrande, without forgetting the enormous riches and potential of each of the eight municipalities

The same applies to great initiatives such as those aimed at Women, the relationship with Europe, cultural activities, etc.

In terms of Equality policies, the Association of Municipalities stands out for its unshakeable commitment to equality between men and women and it keeps the demand alive to assert the work carried out by the institution promoting policies and actions that guarantee

Offering information and encouraging and strengthening knowledge about the European Union and its values, history, symbols and main milestones, along with its functioning and institutions, is the objective of the Association of Municipalities.In terms of culture, it took on the role of promoting cultural development from an especially provincial point of view. With the creation of the Institute of Campo de Gibraltar Studies, the province has a valuable body whose objectives are to serve, rescue, protect and promote cultural heritage

I would like to highlight the major influence that this body has discovering and providing space for new talents in Campo de Gibraltar...

If there is a body in the Association of Municipalities that is an expert at discovering and providing space for new talents it is undoubtedly the IECG. Through initiatives such as the Transdisciplinary Days, the Institute of Studies encourages the young people of Campo de Gibraltar to dive into the field of cultural research, to share, alongside their teachers, the experience of presenting and debating their own projects at the IECG. Likewise, we can appreciate the work carried out in the 4th and 10th sections devoted to Music, Theatre and Dance, and Biology, Ecology, and Natural Sciences, where young and brilliant researchers are emerging.

Speaking of Gibraltar, when and how do you think the framework

agreement will be sealed with the residents of the Rock?

The hope is that it will be as soon as possible and through an agreement that brings prosperity to Campo de Gibraltar and Gibraltar. An agreement that is viewed favourably by all the parties involved, an agreement that makes the area of shared prosperity a reality, in a way that Brexit isn’t remembered as something negative in the history of the region, but rather as an opportunity for growth and development, the future, and good neighbourliness.

Before we finish, once your presidency ends (in a long time we hope), what legacy would you like to leave?

Honestly, I believe that all the presidents of this Institution want to make the Association of Municipality an institution that is fully recognised by citizens, that is useful and close. An entity that is part of the lives of citizens by managing essential quality public services and which, in turn firmly maintains its commitment to the environment, and makes it duty and responsibility clear to social, educational, cultural, social and economic development policies and the encouragement and territorial promotion of our promotion. The best legacy is that this political mandate is remembered as being fruitful for Campo de Gibraltar because the work carried out in any of the management areas has a notable impact on the territory and its citizens.

Por momentos estuvo muy cerca de acariciar un nuevo título con opciones hasta el último hoyo. Sergio García va a llegar a Masters de Agusta en perfecto estado de juego. El castellonense lo hará tras firmar un gran resultado, otro más, en LIV Golf.

Tres rondas bajo par para -4 al total han permitido a Sergio mantenerse en todo momento en la zona alta, disputándose hasta último momento el pódium, donde también se ha desenvuelto con gran dominio del juego Jon Rahm (+1) hasta la jornada final, resuelta con un 74. El equipo español femenino de golf se corona

campeón de la Copa RCG Sotogrande

• En categoría masculina, España ha quedado en una segunda posición por detrás de Inglaterra.

La última jornada de la Copa RCG Sotogrande, celebrada en el Real Club de Golf Soto-

grande mantuvo un alto nivel de juego y emoción, culminando con el triunfo del

equipo español femenino. En esta ocasión, Nagore Martínez se mantuvo como la gran

protagonista de la jornada con una actuación excepcional.

Una remontada épica para el equipo femenino

El conjunto femenino español comenzó la jornada final en la segunda posición, cinco golpes por detrás de Suecia. Sin embargo, contaban con una baza clave: Nagore Martínez, reciente ganadora de la Copa de S.M. La Reina, quien firmó una espectacular vuelta de 66 golpes (-6), con siete birdies y un solo bogey. El segundo mejor resultado español fue el de Amanda Revuelta, con 80 golpes (+8). Mientras tanto, Suecia no logró mantener el nivel, con Ebba Lundqvist como su mejor jugadora con 74 golpes (+2). Esto permitió a España igualarlas en la clasificación con un total de -8, forzando un desempate que se resolvió a favor del equipo español . España, subcampeona en la categoría masculina

En la competición masculina, el equipo español se impuso hasta el final, pero la ventaja de 11 golpes con la que Inglaterra arrancó la jornada resultó difícil de remontar. Aun así, los españoles ofrecieron un sólido desempeño, destacando Raúl Gómez con una tarjeta de 71 golpes (-1), seguido de Marcel Fonseca con 72 golpes, al par del campo. Finalmente, España se hizo con una segunda posición, finalizando a 14 golpes del equipo inglés, que se proclamó campeón. Estonia completó el podio, quedando a un solo golpe de los españoles.

Nagore Martínez, tercera en la clasificación individual

En el apartado individual, la mejor actuación española corrió a cargo de Nagore Martínez, quien finalizó en tercera posición, a cuatro golpes de la campeona, la danesa Benedicte Brent-Buchholz, y a dos de la holandesa Rosane Boere, segunda clasificada. Por su parte, en la categoría masculina, Pablo Alperi fue el español mejor ubicado, terminando en cuarto lugar. El título individual fue para el estonio Kevin Christopher Jegers.

The two players tied with a stratospheric par result, although victory went to Powszuk due to the higher handicap. They made six birdies between them.

In the U-14 category, the champions were Pedro Tineo, a player from La Cañada, who shot 74, a great card, and Alejandro Gil, the friend of Tineo who is also among the sensational upcoming players of Guadiaro, who shot 77, one fewer than Sofía Gamilla, also from La Cañada. Lastly, among the youngest, victories went to Inés Horno, from Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande, and Sergio Rubiales, a local golfer from Guadalmina, who shot 43, the same number as Diego Gross. Amateur y entra en la historia del golf español

• • La castellonense es la primera golfista española que se impone en Augusta National, logrando una victoria histórica en uno de los torneos más prestigiosos del golf femenino amateur.

Carla Bernat ha hecho historia este sábado al lograr lo que ninguna otra española había conseguido hasta ahora: proclamarse campeona del Augusta National Women’s Amateur. En el emblemático escenario de Augusta National, donde leyendas como Seve Ballesteros, José María Olazábal, Sergio García y Jon Rahm han dejado su huella, Carla ha escrito una de las páginas más brillantes del golf español.

Lo ha logrado con un rendimiento excepcional desde el inicio del torneo. Primero, asegurándose un puesto entre las principales aspirantes durante las dos primeras rondas en Champions Retreat, que determinan quién accede al tramo final en Augusta National. Y después, demostrando templanza y madurez en la ronda decisiva, como si en lugar de competir en el templo sagrado del golf, estuviera jugando en su querido Club de Golf Costa de Azahar. • The player from Castellón is the first female Spanish golfer to win at Augusta National, achieving an historic victory at one of the most prestigious amateur women’s golf tournaments.

Carla Bernat made history this Saturday by achieving what no other Spaniard had achieved thus far: being crowned champion of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.

At the iconic venue of Augusta National, where legends such as Seve Ballesteros, José María Olazábal, Sergio García and Jon Rahm have left their mark, Carla has written one of the most dazzling pages in Spanish golf.

She achieved it with an exceptional performance from the start of the tournament. First, by ensuring a place among the main hopefuls during the first two rounds at the Champions Retreat, which decide who accesses the final stage at Augusta National. And after, showing fortitude and maturity in the decisive round, as if instead of competing at the sacred temple of golf, she were playing at her beloved Costa de Azahar Golf Club.

With a consecutive third round of 68 shots, Bernat ended with a total of -12, displaying the level characteristic of a professional: six impeccable birdies and a single slip up at hole 17 with a bogey that didn’t tarnish her strength. The American Asterisk Talley (-11) tried to catch up with birdies at 16 and 17, but Carla responded calmly. She played 18 with admirable calmness, earning a perfect par completed with an accurate one metre putt into the centre of the hole.

What came afterwards was pure emotion. The crowd, which filled Augusta, applauded her like the great hopeful she is. José María Olazábal, one of the big names in Spanish golf and someone who knows the course like few do, awaited for her at the entry to the club house to hug her. That hug represented all of Spanish golf.

The Spanish team was the second largest at the tournament, just behind the American team, and its collective performance was as notable the individual performance.

Andrea Revuelta earned a well-deserved fourth place with -8, notably including a second round of 66 shots that left her among the top players. Carolina López-Chacarra finished ninth with -6, after a spectacular finish with -5 on the last seven holes, including a memorable eagle at 15.

Paula Martín, the fourth Spaniard to make the cut, finished in 18th place on -1. Although her finish (bogey-double bogey-bogey) was a little bitter, her overall performance was highly positive.
