Membership Report

by Mary Gross

President’s message We had another great turnout for our club meeting and tour. It was fun to see and meet some old club members. The weather cooperated as we were able to sight see on our way to our stops at the Peterson’s, Dickey’s and the Wilson’s. Thanks John for a fun filled afternoon. The folks from Portland even got home dry but a bit cooler at the end of the day. How many club members have you spoken to about holding a club officers position? Don’t just think about it, take action! Drop me a note or chat with me at the next meeting about interested candidates or those who I can follow up with. How many Sprites were produced? (Answer can be found in the classifieds.) I wish you the very best of motoring, Allan

Junction City Journey by Mary Gross June 9th turned out to be a great day for a Healey ride. Neither of two important events on Saturday, the Rose Parade and our meet, got rained on even though we had been warned there might be sprinkles. We were happy to see a few people whom we haven’t seen for a while. Also the Saxon’s were down from Auburn, WA. and Ellen Hector came all the way from Island City. Look for her story of adventure elsewhere in this newsletter. Sixteen Healeys and two or three BJ9’s met at the McDonalds in Junction City. There was barely room for anyone else to enter the parking lot to admire our cars.

After fueling our stomachs and some cars we were off to the home of Tenold and Karen Peterson. The first thing to see was their Jaguar XK150. For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of seeing that car, it is a fantastically restored dark green convertible. Tenold has customized the dash with beautiful wood trim and put in leather upholstery and has even made a suitcase and a tea case to fit in the “boot.” One of Tenold’s current projects is converting a 1940 Packard sedan into a woody wagon. From his 12

garage, to the house, to the outdoor cooking areas (including an outdoor pizza oven), to the beautiful art, glass, shop is the little area where they have two comfortable and woodwork in their home, and to the beautiful set- looking chairs, a TV, and a refrigerator. That must be ting, it was a special treat to see. It was even more amaz- for those all important work breaks. ing that Tenold and Karen have done all the work themselves over a period of years. It is so impressive that they have both the artistic talent and the practical skills to do it all. We were lead from the Peterson’s to our next stop by Joe Dickey in his beautiful blue and white Bugeye. We went to his parent’s home where his father welcomed us into his shop where he builds scale model steam and gas piston engines. They are starting him early. We thank everyone who shared their special interests with us on Saturday and thanks to John and Shirley for planning it all.
