Will SearchGPT Successfully Whack Google?
For the past 25 years, internet search has followed a simple formula: users input a keyword, and the search engine returns relevant results based on that keyword. The goal for marketers has always been to rank as high as possible to capture organic traffic.
But now, OpenAI has launched SearchGPT, an AI-powered search engine that provides real-time information directly in conversations. This new tool, available to paid subscribers and waitlisted users, could disrupt traditional search by shifting the focus from keyword ranking to becoming "the answer" users are looking for.
So, what does this mean for marketers? Should the focus now be on getting cited as the definitive answer rather than just improving relevance? Here’s Robert Rose, CMI’s chief strategy advisor, for his perspective on the future of search.
LinkedIn Video Posts Boost Reach by 3X, Study Shows
A study by marketing expert Caroline Giegerich found that LinkedIn video posts generate three times more reach than text content. Videos under 5 minutes, especially those posted between 9-11 AM EST, performed best, with the most successful video reaching 774,000 impressions.
Giegerich’s 90-day analysis highlighted that video posts excel at driving awareness, reaching audiences outside of a user’s network. In contrast, text posts engaged more with existing connections, making them more effective in nurturing relationships.
While LinkedIn's push into video is effective for broader exposure, the platform still lags behind TikTok and Instagram in terms of monetization opportunities for creators.
How 11,093 Marketers Are Spending Their Money in 2025
Neil Patel’s company surveyed 11,093 marketers to uncover where they’re planning to spend their marketing dollars in 2025 and how they’re distributing their budgets across different channels.
And naturally, they also dug into the “why” behind these choices.

What’s Going to Happen To TikTok in the U.S.?
TikTok is making a final push to stay operational in the U.S., asking the Supreme Court to temporarily block a law that requires its parent company, ByteDance, to sell the app by January 19 or face a ban. TikTok and ByteDance filed an emergency request while appealing a lower court's decision that upheld the law.
The law, passed in April, claims TikTok poses a national security threat due to its access to American users' data. TikTok argues that if users are aware of the risks, they should be free to choose whether to continue using the app, warning that a shutdown could lead to losing a third of its U.S. user base.
TikTok also insists there is no immediate security threat and that delaying enforcement would allow time for the Supreme Court to consider the law's legality.
TikTok and ByteDance are requesting a Supreme Court decision by January 6 to prepare for a possible shutdown. The dispute, part of ongoing U.S.-China tensions, also involves claims that the law violates First Amendment rights by restricting free speech.
The law would target TikTok and other foreign-owned apps unless ByteDance divests TikTok by the deadline, potentially setting a precedent for future restrictions on apps like WeChat.
TikTok may soon allow creators to build AI avatars that mimic their likeness and interact with users 24/7, according to a feature update for Douyin, TikTok’s Chinese counterpart.
The new "V Project" lets creators generate virtual avatars that represent their personality, enabling continuous interaction even when they’re offline. This is similar to Meta’s AI avatars, which allow creators to engage with users based on past interactions and content.
Douyin has been using virtual avatars for some time, particularly for 24/7 live-streamed shopping events, and these avatars have proven highly effective, with over 993,000 digital avatar companies registered in China.
Douyin’s AI models will also allow avatars to interact within comment streams, respond to DMs, and engage in live chat, freeing creators to focus on other aspects of their work. However, it remains to be seen if such virtual characters will appeal to Western audiences as much as they have in China.
How a Google Breakup Could Change the PPC Industry
Google's ongoing adtech antitrust trial could reshape the future of paid search, with a potential company breakup threatening to disrupt the PPC landscape. With Google commanding 90% of the global search market, the trial raises concerns for advertisers who rely heavily on Google Ads and its interconnected ecosystem of tools like Google Analytics and Tag Manager.
If Google were broken up, established PPC strategies could quickly become obsolete, forcing marketers to adapt to new platforms and fragmented advertising environments. This shift could lead to challenges such as:
• Market Power: Google’s dominance allows it to potentially prioritize its own products, limiting choice for advertisers.
• High Barriers to Entry: The costs of creating a competitive ad platform make it tough for new players to challenge Google’s position.
• Data Advantage: Google’s access to vast user data gives it an edge in targeting and campaign measurement.
A breakup would likely create fragmentation, with increased competition from platforms like Bing and Yahoo, leaving PPC marketers to navigate a less predictable, more diverse advertising ecosystem.
The Bezos Morning Hack: Why Your Phone is Killing Your Brain Before Breakfast
Listen up, productivity junkies and screen addicts. Jeff Bezos might just have cracked the code to not turning your brain into digital mush before noon, and it's stupid simple: Put down the @#$% phone.
The One-Hour Rule That Neuroscience Loves
According to Stanford Lifestyle Medicine, your morning scroll is basically giving your brain a nutritional equivalent of mainlining sugar.
Maris Loeffler, a brain health expert, drops this deliciously brutal truth: "Passive screen time is like eating sugar but for your brain. It 'tastes' good, and you want it now, but you're not actually feeding yourself."
The Horrifying Screen Time Stats
Let's get scientific (and terrifying):
• Adults glued to screens are risking their learning and memory capabilities
• Watching more than 5 hours of TV daily? You're basically rolling out the welcome mat for dementia and Parkinson's
• Two or more hours of daily screen time? Say goodbye to gray matter volume in your brain
What to Do Instead of Scrolling
Bezos and brain scientists recommend replacing your morning phone addiction with:
• Exercise
• Calling a friend
• Meditation
• Reading an actual book
• Getting morning sunlight
• Creating a gratitude list
The Bezos Approach
While other CEOs are bragging about their hardcore morning routines, Bezos is just... puttering. No phones, just coffee, newspapers, and family breakfast. His fiancée Lauren Sanchez confirms: "We don't get on our phones. That's one of the rules."
The Bottom Line
Your morning routine is setting the energy for your entire day. Do you want that energy to come from mindless scrolling or intentional living?
Put. The. Phone. Down.
Your brain will thank you.
Social Media Marketing Predictions for 2025: Get Ready for Change
Brace yourself, marketers 2025 is going to bring some serious shifts in the social media landscape. AI is getting a lot of attention, but don't get too carried away with the hype. Here’s what you actually need to know.
AI: It's Coming, But Don’t Expect Magic
Generative AI is dominating the conversation, but let’s be real it’s not the revolution everyone claims. Platforms like Meta are throwing billions at AI, hoping it’ll drive engagement, but the results will be more of a slow burn than an overnight success.
AI tools will keep pushing, but they need to actually add value to social experiences if they can. You’ll see more AI-generated content across platforms, especially on Facebook and Instagram, but don’t expect your audience to suddenly love fake, computergenerated posts.
Facebook: More AI, More Video, Less Personal Touch
Facebook is still the biggest social platform barely but let’s face it, it’s not exactly cool anymore. Meta knows it needs to innovate, which is why you’ll see even more AI-driven content, from random image prompts to AI tools for content creation. Here’s the kicker: it’s mostly going to be about video. Expect a flood of AI-curated Reels, because, well, that’s what’s getting engagement. Video is the bread and butter of Facebook’s strategy, especially as they try to steal back some of the limelight from TikTok.
Instagram: The AI Playground, Now with AR Glasses
Instagram used to be all about photos now, it’s about video and Reels, and honestly, it's a little confused about what it is anymore. In 2025, Instagram is going to double down on generative AI. Get ready for more AI-generated filters that enhance your existing photos and videos, making them “personal” without much effort on your part. Also, if you’ve been avoiding AR, you can’t anymore. Meta’s AR glasses are coming, and Instagram will integrate them in ways that will have you streaming live through your Ray-Bans. This means you’ll need to think about how your content works with these wearable tech experiences.
AR and VR: Meta’s Long-Term Bet
Don’t believe the metaverse hype just yet, but Meta’s going full throttle with AR and VR. Instagram and Facebook will introduce more AR-based content, like interactive ads and spatial filters.
Video: Your New Best Friend
If you’re not already making video content, get on it. Video is the primary focus across all of Meta’s platforms especially short-form video. Facebook, inspired by TikTok’s dominance, is pushing more video in your feed, so expect more AIgenerated Reels and less of everything else.
AI-Driven Ads: The Lazy Marketer’s Dream
Meta’s not just pushing AI in content creation expect AI to take over your ad campaigns, too. Advantage+ ads are already delivering better results than manual targeting, and the machines are getting better at this. If you're still manually targeting your ads, you're behind. AI will optimize your targeting, budgeting, and even creative. It's time to let the machines do the work and honestly, they’re probably doing it better than you.
Threads Will Loosen Up on Politics
Meta’s Threads is finally realizing that limiting political content is a buzzkill for engagement. In 2025, expect them to ease up on the restrictions. After the U.S. election debacle, Threads will probably relax its penalties on political posts, giving users more space to talk real-time news and opinions. If you're in the political or real-time discussion game, Threads might finally be worth your time Meta can’t keep treating it like a quiet, fluffy space for memes and cat pictures.
Snapchat+ Keeps Winning
Snapchat+ has 12 million subscribers, compared to X’s (formerly Twitter) 1.3 million. So yeah, Snap’s subscription service is working, and it’s doing it without the BS checkmarks. It’s about offering real utility, and marketers should follow suit. Expect even more perks for paying users in 2025 Snap's going to keep adding features, so get in now before they launch something that could actually help boost your campaigns. Think exclusive tools that can improve engagement and make your audience feel special.
Snapchat Wants to Get You Out of the House
Snapchat's new real-life connection push is key for marketers. With features like Snap Map showing what your friends are doing, Snap is leaning into offline interactions something other apps are neglecting. In 2025, expect more features designed to get your audience out and about think location-based prompts and event-driven ads. If you’re marketing to younger folks and local businesses, this is a goldmine. Don’t sleep on it.
In 2025, expect more focus on business-focused live streams and industry talks.
Snap’s Sponsored Snaps Are Gonna Bomb
Now, about those “Sponsored Snaps” in your inbox yeah, that’s going to be a mess. People use Snapchat for private, ephemeral chats, not to be bombarded with ads. Meta found out the hard way with Messenger and WhatsApp, and Snap’s about to get the same backlash.
LinkedIn’s AI Push Will Slow Down
LinkedIn's AI hype is about to hit a wall. They’ve been throwing in AI tools for everything from post creation to profile updates, but it’s making the platform feel less human. You can expect LinkedIn to dial it back in 2025.
Live Events Will Be LinkedIn’s New Focus
LinkedIn’s experimenting with live events and webinars, and guess what? It’s working. Video posts are getting way more engagement, and LinkedIn’s doubling down on live broadcasts to keep professionals engaged. In 2025, expect more focus on business-focused live streams and industry talks.
TikTok’s All In on Shopping
TikTok’s obsession with in-app shopping is getting real in 2025. Sure, Western audiences aren’t wild about livestream shopping yet, but they’re working hard to change that. If you’re marketing products, TikTok’s already showing signs of success, and it's only going to push harder. Expect in-stream shopping, live-stream avatars, and more ways to buy directly through the app. TikTok is testing avatars that sell products live think low-cost, AIpowered influencers selling to your audience 24/7. It's a game-changer for ecommerce marketers.
Pinterest’s AI Will Be a Shopping Powerhouse in 2025
Pinterest has been evolving its search tools with AI to better align with shopping intent. The recent body type filters and Try On features are just the beginning. Expect Pinterest to add more AR tools and AI-driven recommendations to enhance the product discovery experience. For marketers, this means better ways to showcase products in-app. Pinterest is shifting its focus to make product discovery even easier, so you’ll want to be front and center when these tools roll out.
Bottom Line
2025 is shaping up to be a year of big shifts in social media marketing. Platforms like TikTok, Pinterest, and LinkedIn are all making strategic moves to keep you engaged and your brand visible.
Whether it's embracing in-app shopping, tapping into AR, or scaling back on AI, staying ahead of these trends will ensure that you’re maximizing your marketing efforts. Buckle up, marketers 2025 is going to be a wild ride.
$5,000 in 30 Days from Scratch – Can it be Done?
My first reaction? Treat it like a game or a contest, because let's be real if I stress out about it, I'll just freeze up. But if I frame it as a challenge, I'm instantly motivated to hustle and get to work.
Now that I’ve got my head in the right place, here's what I’d do. And just to be clear I'm spit balling here, so don’t feel like you need to copy everything. You don’t even need to use most of it. The point is to give you a bunch of options, so you can pick what works best for you to hit that $5000 goal.
1. Pick a High-Demand Niche with Instant Monetization Opportunities
First, I'd focus on a niche that has immediate, high-demand products or services. Examples:
• Affiliate Marketing: Choose a high-converting affiliate program in areas like tech gadgets, health supplements, or financial services. These niches have large audiences and well-established affiliate programs.
• Freelancing: Offer services such as copywriting, social media management, graphic design, or web development. These can generate income quickly if you know the skills.
I'd choose a niche I’m comfortable with or can quickly learn about to minimize the learning curve.
2.
Create an Instant Sales Funnel Using Social Media
Without an email list or an online presence, I'd leverage social media platforms (like TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube) to quickly build visibility. Here’s the plan:
• Short-form content: Create a series of short, engaging, and informative posts or videos related to the niche. For instance, if I'm doing affiliate marketing, I’d create content around product reviews, comparisons, or tips on using the products.
• Engagement & Calls-to-Action: Engage with the audience actively, respond to comments, and encourage followers to click through to an affiliate product or offer.
• Instagram or TikTok Ads: Run paid ads targeted to a specific demographic.
Someone hit me with a pretty interesting question the other day: "If you had to make $5000 in 30 days with no existing online presence or email list, what would you do?"
3. Create an Irresistible Offer
• For Affiliate Marketing: Offer special deals or bonuses for signing up or purchasing through your link. For example, if I’m promoting a tech gadget, I could offer an additional ebook or consultation in exchange for purchasing through my link.
• For Services: Offer time-limited discounts or bonuses like a free consultation, audit, or extra hour of service for the first few clients.
I’d also make sure to price the offers in a way that would allow me to reach my goal quickly. For instance, if I sell 10 services at $500 each or 50 products with a $100 commission, I can hit my target.
4. Utilize Freelance Platforms
While building organic reach, I’d also register on freelance platforms such as Upwork, Fiverr, and Freelancer. The goal would be to offer high-demand services at a competitive price, attracting quick clients.
I’d immediately start with budget-friendly gigs to establish my presence and collect positive reviews. Once reviews start rolling in, I can raise prices. By the end of 30 days, if I secure multiple gigs, I can earn a significant amount through high-value projects.
5. Leverage Drop Shipping or Print-on-Demand
• Drop shipping: I’d set up a quick Shopify store and run targeted ads for products in a niche I’m passionate about, like home fitness or phone accessories. The goal would be to source trending, high-margin products and advertise them directly to a hungry market.
• Print-on-demand: If I want a faster route to selling physical products without the need for inventory, I’d create unique designs (T-shirts, mugs, etc.) and sell them through platforms like Printful or Teespring. Marketing these designs on social media with a call-to-action can drive immediate sales.
6. Launch a Mini-Course or Coaching Session
If I have any valuable skills or knowledge, I could create a minicourse or offer coaching. The key here is that I’d:
• Create an irresistible offer by targeting a niche that has an immediate demand for training (like social media marketing, fitness, or language learning).
• Offer it at a low introductory price to drive quick signups. The aim would be to sell 20 courses at $250 each, reaching the $5000 goal.
Social media ads, combined with organic content, would drive traffic and sales to the course.
7. Upsell and Cross-Sell
As I bring in clients or affiliate sales, I'd make sure to have an upsell strategy in place:
• After selling a course or service, I’d offer a more advanced version or related product.
• For example, if a client buys a basic social media management service, I’d upsell them on additional consulting sessions or monthly retainer services.
8. Run Flash Sales or Limited-Time Offers
Creating urgency can be powerful in closing sales. I’d run flash sales or time-sensitive offers with countdown timers to encourage people to take action quickly.
Bottom Line
The goal would be to use any or all of these - affiliate marketing, social media promotion, and quick freelance gigs, alongside limited-time offers and upsells - to create a mix of income sources.
Then notice which ones are gaining quick traction and focus on those.
With paid ads and an aggressive social media strategy, it's feasible to hit the $5000 mark in 30 days with the right approach.
The key is to start small, scale fast, and optimize for highconverting offers.

Today, we are privileged to have John Assaraf join us. John is an internationally recognised entrepreneur, brain researcher, and expert in the psychology of success. Not only has he grown multiple multimillion dollar businesses, but he's also a bestselling author and the CEO of NeuroGym, a company that uses the most advanced methods and evidence-based brain training methods to help individuals unleash their fullest potential. John, thank you so much for joining us today.
John Assaraf:
Great to be on.
Editor:
Well, could we start by asking you what initially drew you into the field of brain research and neurodevelopment?
John Assaraf:
I was fascinated with what we were discovering about the human brain, and specifically I had a lot of limiting beliefs. I felt like I wasn't smart enough. I felt like I was inadequate when I was a kid because I failed English and failed math. I left high school with grade 11. And so I just felt like I wasn't supposed to succeed because I was told if you didn't have a proper education, you probably weren't going to do well in life.
And I ended up meeting this one man who really understood the power of the mind, and he was a Napoleon Hill student of the book Think and Grow Rich. And so he started to teach me the power of self-talk, the power of visualisation, the power of developing the beliefs and the identity to achieve goals versus believing in my current beliefs and believing in what I thought I should achieve or not achieve because of my scholastic background and education. years.
And so I got a healthy dose of what the human brain is capable of at a very, very young age. And because it helped transform my life, I've studied it now for 44 years.
Editor:
Wow. I'm sure you've got many insights which we can maybe dive into as we get into this. What was the inspiration though behind you founding NeuroGym and how does that reflect maybe on your personal mission now?
John Assaraf:
I've been somebody who's exercised most of my life to stay in really good physical shape and to have energy and vitality and to look good and feel good. But I also was doing a lot of inner work, and I was looking to stay calm, reduce stress, have more confidence, have more certainty, have more personal power, tap into my fullest potential. And one of the things that I realised during my journey is there were a lot of people that knew what they should do. A lot of people know they should exercise and eat well and sleep well, but they don't do it. And a lot of people how they can make more money, and a lot of people know what they could do to have a better relationship, and a lot of people know a lot of stuff, but why weren't we doing what we knew we should be doing? Why weren't we doing what we already knew how to do?
And so I got fascinated with the neuroscience side of us, and I realised that the inner game determines the outer game. And I coined these terms, neuro muscles and innercise, for my own ease of understanding. And I realised that our self-image was either strong or weak. Our self-image was either constructive, building us up, or it could be destructive, tearing us down. I also realised that we have empowering beliefs, but we also have disempowering beliefs. And some of them are negative and some of them are downright lies.
And so I started to innercise a lot to train my own brain, and then I started to train my students' brains, people that were following my work that read my books or saw me in one of my movies that I was in. And they started to achieve the same results. And in essence, we were training their brains. So just like you go to the gym, maybe to train your body and cardiovascular system, I was helping people rewire their brain, strengthen their neuro muscles so that they felt confident, certain, unstoppable, and they started achieving their goals and dreams as fast as I was.
And so I knew there was something to brain training, and that's why I started NeuroGym. That's why I wrote my bestselling book, Innercise, is to give people the brain exercises, so to speak, to train the different aspects of the brain, which is $100 billion tool that most people don't know how to use.
Editor:
Which is amazing in itself. Innercise has become, as you say, a bestseller worldwide. It's groundbreaking in terms of the content. But in terms of getting that out to an audience and getting people to buy into this, what were the steps that you took, John, to make that happen?
John Assaraf:
I had to break it down for people to be able to really understand it. So I'll give you an example. When I ask anybody, how important is your self-talk to yourself? Whether you say, "I'm good enough to achieve this," or, "I'm not good enough to achieve this," when you say, "I'm too young," or, "I'm too old," when you say, "I don't know how to do this," you're giving your brain an instruction and your brain follows through with whatever self-talk you're using on yourself. So self-talk matters. Self-talk creates thoughts that are consistent with the self-talk.
So if I'm negatively talking to myself on an ongoing basis, is it any wonder that the majority of my thoughts will be negative? And if the majority of thoughts are negative, which by the way, on a statistical basis, 80% of the average person's thoughts in a day are negative, and we have 6,200 thoughts as of the latest research last year. And so if we have 5,000 negative thoughts a day on average, and we repeat those thoughts, 90% of each day, day after day after day, the majority of our population is negative, is disempowering themselves. Negative self-talk creates negative or disempowering emotions.
Negative or disempowering emotions create behaviours that we don't want. So when we talk negatively to ourselves, we feel the negative aspects of what we're saying, and then we behave in those ways and we wonder why we're not achieving goals. So I started to understand that self-talk has a direct correlation to how I feel. How I feel has a direct correlation to what I do or don't do, so selftalk is important.
Next is understanding the effect on how I feel based on what I do. And so for example, if I feel afraid of failing, if I feel that I might be embarrassed, ashamed, ridiculed, judged, rejected, abandoned, if I feel like I might disappoint myself or somebody else, what are the chances that I'm actually going to take action?
John Assaraf:
Well, the answer is very, very slim because what we've discovered about the human brain, we will do more to avoid pain or discomfort than we will to gain pleasure. And so there's some automatic processes in the brain that prevent us from taking action as a protective mechanism, not because we don't want to take the action. We're just making sure that we don't suffer the consequences of maybe making a mistake or of feeling embarrassed or ashamed, judged or failing.

Well, with AI on your side, you can turn your finance side hustle into a money-making machine without all the hassle of endless research and writing long articles. Here’s how you can do it, step by step.

The Foot-in-the-Door Technique: A Secret Strategy for Boosting Conversions
Want to skyrocket your conversion rates without the hard sell? It’s time to embrace the foot-in-the-door technique, a psychological strategy that can significantly boost your sales by starting small.
Instead of asking potential customers to make a big commitment upfront, begin with a small, easy-tocomplete action that they’re more likely to say yes to.
This could be as simple as offering a low-cost or free trial of your product, or providing a resource that requires minimal effort to access.
Once they’ve said yes to that small action, they’re much more likely to take the next step and commit to a larger purchase.
This technique relies on the psychological principle of consistency once a person agrees to something, even a small request, they’re more inclined to follow through with larger commitments.
It lowers the barrier to entry, allowing customers to experience the value of your offering before diving in.
For SaaS companies, subscription-based services, and even physical product retailers, this strategy can be a game-changer.
By easing customers into a relationship with your brand, you build trust and familiarity, making them more likely to convert to paying customers in the long run.
The foot-in-the-door technique isn’t just a gimmick it’s a proven, low-risk way to increase conversions and foster customer loyalty.

Reflecting on Your 2024 Marketing Success and Building a Stronger Strategy for 2025
Back in January 2023, a small business owner who shall remain nameless to protect the foolish decided to skip their usual end-of-year review. Instead of reflecting on past performance, they focused solely on moving forward, believing that more effort would naturally lead to better results.
By mid-year, however, they realized sales had plateaued, and customer engagement was dropping. "What’s going on?" they wondered. Was working harder the answer?
It wasn’t until December that they finally took the time to evaluate their marketing efforts what worked, what didn’t, and why. That’s when they discovered their most successful campaign was one they’d neglected in favor of chasing newer, flashier ideas.
By reflecting on what had actually worked, they were able to refocus their efforts, entering 2024 with a clearer, more effective strategy. That simple act of evaluation helped them avoid unnecessary mistakes and set them up for long-term success.
And yes, 2024 turned out to be their best year ever, with sales nearly tripling compared to the previous year.
That’s why, as you move into 2025, it's the perfect time to reflect on the past year.
Did your marketing strategies achieve the goals you set for 2024? What worked?
What didn’t?
And most importantly, how can you make sure 2025 is your best year yet?
In this article, we’ll walk through 12 practical steps you can take to evaluate your marketing efforts from the previous year and make adjustments for even better success in 2025. Let’s dive right in!
1. Review Key Metrics and KPIs
Take a close look at the numbers from your marketing campaigns in 2024. What were your key metrics? Conversion rates, engagement, ROI, customer acquisition costs all of these tell you what worked and what didn’t. Focus on the data that aligns with your business goals and see where you hit the mark or fell short. This gives you a clear picture of what to keep, adjust, or stop doing in the new year.
2. Assess Your Marketing Strategy
Now’s the time to evaluate your overall marketing strategy. Were you focused on the right goals and channels? Did your strategy evolve with changing trends and consumer behavior? Look back at your core objectives and see if your tactics aligned with those. Was your strategy adaptable, or did it need to shift as the year progressed? Learning from your strategy in 2024 will help you refine it for 2025.
3. Audience Insights
Did your audience change over the past year? Dive into your audience data and see if your target group shifted. Did you connect with them effectively? If not, think about ways you can refine your audience segments or messaging to ensure you're reaching the right people in 2025. Understanding your audience’s evolving needs will help you adjust your approach moving forward.
4. Content Performance Review
Look at the content you created in 2024 and determine what resonated the most. Was your blog content driving traffic? Did your videos get shares? Which social posts performed best? Knowing which types of content had the biggest impact will guide your content strategy for 2025. Repurpose your top-performing content and focus on producing more of what worked.
5. Technology and Tools Review
Did the marketing tools you used in 2024 help or hinder your success? Maybe you were relying on certain platforms, analytics tools, or software. Take inventory of what worked well and what didn’t. Were your tools helping you stay efficient and on track? Now’s a good time to explore new tools that could streamline your workflow and enhance your results in 2025.
6. Budget Allocation
It’s essential to evaluate how you spent your marketing budget in 2024. Were your high-performing channels given enough resources? Or did you overspend on underperforming platforms? Use this review to adjust your budget allocation for 2025. Maybe it’s time to invest more in paid media, influencer partnerships, or building organic reach whatever’s most effective for your business.
7. Customer Feedback and Testimonials
Customer feedback is a goldmine for improvement. Go through reviews, surveys, and customer interactions. What do your customers think about your products, services, and marketing? Were there common complaints or suggestions? This information can give you crucial insights into how you can serve your audience better in 2025.
8. Competitor Analysis
Take a step back and review what your competitors did in 2024. Did they implement new tactics that caught your attention? Are there trends they capitalized on that you missed? Knowing what worked for them will help you adapt your own strategy. But don't just copy; look for opportunities to differentiate your brand in 2025.
9. Lessons Learned from Failures
Not everything worked, and that’s okay. Now’s the time to learn from what didn’t go as planned. Maybe a campaign didn’t meet its goals, or a new tactic didn’t produce the expected results. Rather than brushing it off, take a deep dive into the “why” behind it. Learning from failures is just as important as celebrating successes, and it can set you up for a more successful 2025.
10. Setting Goals for 2025
You can’t move forward without clear goals. Based on your reflections from 2024, set SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals for 2025. Whether it’s increasing web traffic, boosting engagement, or hitting revenue targets, make sure your goals are aligned with your overall business objectives and give your team something to strive for.
11. Trends and Innovations to Watch in 2025
Look ahead at emerging marketing trends and innovations. Is AI a bigger part of your strategy now? Are social platforms evolving, or is personalization becoming more important? Staying ahead of the curve on trends like influencer marketing, social commerce, or sustainability can help you gain a competitive edge. Position yourself now for the changes that 2025 will bring.
12. Continuous Learning and Team Development
Marketing is always changing, and so should you. In 2025, invest in your own learning and that of your team. Attend webinars, read industry blogs, or enroll in courses to stay sharp. Whether you’re improving your skills or offering training to your team, ongoing development will keep you ahead of the competition.
Final Thoughts
Reflecting on 2024 and planning for 2025 doesn’t have to be overwhelming. By following these 12 steps, you can evaluate what worked, identify areas for improvement, and set yourself up for a successful year ahead.
Focus on the lessons you’ve learned, adapt to new trends, and most importantly, keep your marketing strategy aligned with your business goals.
Threads Continues to Beat Expectations
Threads remains the top downloaded app on iOS for October 2024, according to Appfigures, continuing its rise from September. With 275 million total users, Threads has seen strong growth, adding 100 million users in the three months leading to October and 15 million more in November. This suggests the app could surpass 300 million users soon.
Although downloads don't always correlate with active users, Threads' momentum is notable. While it's still far behind X, which has over 500 million monthly active users, it’s catching up faster than expected.
Some believe Bluesky, with its more Twitter-like format, could slow Threads' growth by attracting users from X. However, with only 20 million active users, Bluesky remains more niche, while Threads continues to build a broader, engaged community.
US Government Proposes Breakup of Google, Demands Sale of Chrome
The U.S. government has officially proposed a partial breakup of Google, urging a federal judge to force the sale of its Chrome web browser after a court ruling found Google violated antitrust laws with its search business.
The Justice Department, along with several states, seeks significant penalties against the tech giant, aiming not only at Google’s monopoly in search but also its expanding influence in artificial intelligence. The proposal could disrupt how millions of Americans search for information and affect the integration of Google’s products. Google has vowed to appeal.
The case centers on Google's anti-competitive practices, such as making its search engine the default on Chrome, Android devices, and iPhones, effectively shutting out competitors. The government suggests spinning off Chrome to prevent future monopolistic behavior and removing exclusive deals with Apple, Samsung, and others that cement Google’s dominance.
Additionally, the DOJ proposes requiring Google to share its U.S. search results with competitors and limit data collection for AI training, aiming to level the playing field in search and AI. Google’s President Kent Walker criticized the proposal, calling it extreme and damaging to privacy and security.
