I have a windows computer, and I want to know how to design, create, and program my own iPhone app. Is there a software that can do this on windows. I know that Xcode is confusing and is only for macs. I want to create an app as easy as possible. I don't want to put it in the actual AppStore, but I just want it on my iPod touch.- Jenny. Generally speaking you are going to require the use of a MacBook or iMac to create your App. You’ll need to learn Objective C, or use one of the App creation services like AppMakr.com. -Ed.

What is Offline Marketing? I keep hearing about it, but can’t really find out what it is? - Connie.

MWM 7

What is the best way to design a website so that someone with no html skills can update and edit it? I usually use Dreamweaver for web design, but it needs to be more simple than that. A client wants to be able to make small changes and add info to the site himself in the future. Any suggestions for software or an online service that would give me design freedom and control, yet be easy for him to edit? It would be best if it is cheap or free and it has to be able to run on a mac and a pc. Thanks in advance!. - Ken. For this type of setup, you really can’t go past Wordpress. You setup wordpress, do the initial design for your client and then give them the information to access the backend, and show them how to create pages and posts.. -Ed.

Offline marketing is the opposite of online marketing. Online marketing is marketing/advertising done over the internet. Offline marketing is the traditional methods of marketing such as television/newspaper/magazine adverts, posters, jingles, etc. -Ed.

MWM news 63% of Advertisers Say Brand Marketing Spending Will Increase in 2013 A recent Nielsen study has found that 63 percent of brand advertisers expect more money to be spent on brand marketing in 2013. One in five advertisers reported that spending would exceed 20 percent this year. Advertisers say that much of that spending will go to increased usage of social media, mobile advertising, and social media. Nielsen's study found that 70 percent of brand marketers will increase their usage of social media in 2013. About 69 percent also said they would use more mobile advertising this year, while an additional 64 percent said they would be increasing their usage of video advertising. In comparison, study participants say they will not be increasing usage of rich media, standard display, and connected TV advertising. About 50 percent of particpants reported their rich media advertising would stay the same in 2013. For standard display advertising, 48 percent said they would be keeping their usage the same over the next 12 months. The only category shown to have very little usage in 2013 is connected TV advertising. According to the report, 67 percent of marketers said they would not be using connected TV advertising in 2013. On the other side of the spectrum, 51 percent of advertisers said they would be increasing their direct response marketing spending in 2013. One in four advertisers reported that direct response marketing spending will increase by over 20 percent this year. Direct response marketers said they would be increasing their usage of mobile advertising at an 81 percent clip. Another 73 percent said they would be increasing their usage of video advertising this year. About 57 percent also said they would be using social media more often in 2013. Statistics for the study come from a joint report from Nielsen subsidiary Vizu and the CMO council. The study fielded surveys from 287 senior brand leaders, 176 agency executives, and 152 publishing representatives. Surveys were received during January and February of this year.

Twitter's New Keyword Targeting System 'Vital' Tool for Marketers Twitter has unveiled a keyword targeting system to give marketers the ability to target users based on the words they tweet. The system allows for marketers to pinpoint users based on the context of the words they send out through their account. Commentators say the feature is a boon because of Twitter's ability to reach consumers in real time. "This is an important new capability - especially for those advertisers looking for signals of intent - because it lets marketers reach users at the right moment, in the right context," wrote Twitter Product Manager of Revenue Nipoon Malhotra in a blog post. Twitter's feature is a way for marketers to better discover consumers interested in specific products and services. To highlight the tool's usability, the social media firm uses the example of marketers sending out Promoted Tweets about a specific band that users are tweeting about. Prior to the launch, marketers were confined to only being able to target users based on a consumer's interest graph. The graph used things such as follows as signals for a user's interest. Commentators say the feature creates real-world marketing tactics that only Twitter could capitalize on. Laundry Service president and founder Jason Stein says the feature truly takes advantage of the constantly updating world of Twitter. "What is cool about this is that Twitter is the only platform that can really do something like this," Stein said to ClickZ. Stein says the amount of data and the periodic updating of Twitter make the new feature vital for marketers. According to him, having keyword targeting on Twitter makes the social platform one of the best marketing tools in the world. "Nothing in the world compares to Twitter. While Facebook may have the size nothing quite compares to Twitter's capabilities," continued Stein. When it comes to Twitter and Facebook, Stein says the two are very complementary for advertisers. He says one is important for visual marketing while the other focuses on text ads. "Facebook is much more visual, but with Twitter it's much more link- and text-based," said Stein. Stein and his company have already started using Twitter's targeted word feature. He reported that he has already used the tool to send out Promoted Tweets about Hollywood films. The tactic Stein is currently employing is sending out Promoted Tweets to users who send out messages about wanting to rent a movie. He says the tactic helps to pinpoint users closer to the point of purchase. Twitter's targeted ad tool is available starting immediately. The feature is available in all supported Twitter languages and markets.

EFFECTIVE INTERNET MARKETING By: John Jonas We live in a world where everything happens on the internet by way of internet marketing. The internet has made everything accessible on fingertips. The internet has also made it possible for people to run their businesses online and earn more profits than they would have otherwise earned when running a business without the help of the internet. There are many businesses which are conducted on the internet these days. For these businesses, it is important that promotion strategies are incorporated so that the products and services which the business deals in are known to the internet users. Promotion of online businesses takes place using strategies of internet marketing. Internet marketing is just a promotional tool which ensures that the online business gets known to the people who make use of the internet. In fact, internet marketing is the only means using which an online business and its products and services can reach the customers or the users of the internet. For effective internet marketing, it is essential that an internet marketing strategy be developed. This strategy is essential for the success of the online business. An internet marketing strategy must be based on proper planning. The plan must define the goals that the online business wants to achieve and the ways of achieving these objectives.

The following are the strategies that can be followed for internet marketing in a successful manner:

Internet marketing is the only means using which an online business and its products and services can reach the customers or the users of the internet.

Effectively designed website.

Practicing good search engine optimization and ensuring that the website gets a rank in top of search engine result pages. This would ensure more traffic to the website and eventually more customers and more profits and thus successful internet marketing.

Hiring a good internet marketing consultant so that right analysis can be performed for effective internet marketing.

Learning to make use of email marketing effectively as this is perhaps the best, easiest and the cheapest form of internet marketing.

Publishing articles about the online business and even submitting these to article directories or websites that publish articles. Articles are the best means using which quality inbound links can be created for a website for effective internet marketing.

Adopting programs like reseller hosting, affiliate marketing etc. These programs are one of the best ways of ensuring that the website gets more traffic.

Blogging is also a good internet marketing strategy as it enables the business owner to interact with the visitors to the website and thus get to know what exactly the customers are looking for.

Creating and publishing press releases so that the business gets known to the internet users.

The above internet marketing strategies if followed in a proper manner can work for the benefit of the business owner. These strategies ensure that more people get attracted to the website of the business owner and so the business gets more customers and there are fair chances that the sales would increase leading to the business owner earning more returns on the investments made. Also these internet marketing strategies help in enhancing the brand image of the online business.

THE INSIDE SCOOP: HOW BEN & JERRY’S ACHIEVED SUCCESS By Evan Carmichael

“Nothing about Ben & Jerry’s was unoriginal. From its clever and unpretentious marketing to its product flavours, the company took every opportunity to make use of the creativity of its owners and customers alike.” They turned their $5 for an ice cream making course into a successful multimillion dollar business, and they had a lot of fun in the process. But, Ben & Jerry’s isn’t just about the delicious ice cream. From taking a stand against nuclear weapons to discussing America politics and corporate social responsibility, founders Cohen and Greenfield are taking the vision for their business to the wider world. How did two anti-corporate hippies become millionaires and respected business leaders in the 21st century? Quotable:

“Never trust a computer you can't throw out a window.” ~Steve Wozniak

They Were Progressive: “There are a lot of people who are going into business who are frustrated,” says Greenfield. “[People think] if you try to have a business that tries to give to the people, it takes away from your ability to be successful financially.” Ben & Jerry’s proved that business doesn’t have to be all bad. They were able to both make a profit and give back to the community, and turn the business world on its head in the meantime. They Made Work Fun: Halloween parties, Valentines Day PartiesNthere is scarcely a holiday that goes uncelebrated by the Joy Gang at Ben & Jerry’s. Cohen and Greenfield bet that by investing in its people – its most important resource – they would in turn invest more of their energy into the company. The gamble paid off.

Cohen and Greenfield were not without their conflicts, but with a shared commitment, they managed to work together towards their goals in an inspired partnership.

They Used Their Imaginations: Nothing about Ben & Jerry’s was unoriginal. From its clever and unpretentious marketing to its product flavours, the company took every opportunity to make use of the creativity of its owners and customers alike. Because no one ever knew what to expect from the dynamic duo, they kept going back for more. They Built a Great Team: “Our biggest disagreement was about chunks,” recalls Greenfield. “Ben came up with the flavours and I did the manufacturing, and he wanted bigger chunks and I wanted small ones with greater distribution. He said people didn’t care if you got a chunk in every bite as long as you knew that fairly soon you’d get a chunk.” Cohen and Greenfield were not without their conflicts, but with a shared commitment, they managed to work together towards their goals in an inspired partnership. “He recently admitted I was right,” jokes Cohen.

They Didn’t Back Down: They never would have thought that a corporate giant like Pillsbury could ever be afraid of them - two young hippies - but they did know that they would never be afraid of the corporate giant. When Cohen and Greenfield were challenged, they stood up in the face of their enemies and challenged them right back. It was this determination and strength that would come to define the company. The story of Ben & Jerry’s represents the story of the American dream. Through nothing but hard work and passion, two youths who were disenchanted with corporate America, became two of the most respected corporate executives in the country. They stayed true to their vision, fought for what they believed was right, and were generously rewarded.

When Cohen and Greenfield were challenged, they stood up in the face of their enemies and challenged them right back.

It was this determination and strength that would come to define the company.

MWM ask the expert Interview with Internet Marketing Expert Jordan Kasteler By: Nick Stamoulis

“People don’t like change or to be retrained. I’d argue most people today aren’t even trained on how to search properly as-is.” Did you know:

Recently I had the chance to interview Internet marketing expert Jordan Kasteler. Jordan has been involved in Internet marketing and SEO since 2001 and has worked as the in-house SEO expert for Overstock.com, was the cofounder of an Internet marketing agency, SVP of Content Development and Managing Partner at BlueGlass Interactive, Inc., and is currently the online marketing strategist for PETA. I think it’s safe to say that Jordan has worked on SEO campaigns from just about every angle (inhouse, consultant, non-profit, for-profit) that you could during an SEO’s career! He’s seen all the Internet marketing struggles that small businesses, start ups, and large enterprises face and has great insights into what makes SEO different and the same for companies across the board. Jordan is also a regular contributor to the SEO industry site SearchEngineLand and had two of the site’s top 10 articles (#1 and #6) for 2012!

Konrad Zuse, has the credit of creating world's first computer known as the Z1 in 1936. Three years later in the year 1939, was when the first fully functioning electro-mechanical computer, known as Z2 was developed.

MWM 17

MWM ask the expert When I left the agency world to go in-house it was a total shock to me. I was naïve to how different things would be. I was so used to doing everything myself from A to Z and fast then realized I would spend more time trying to sell ideas and concepts to people, do lots of paperwork, and wait on development for ages. Again, there are pros and cons to both as agency work can be very stressful and exhausting. Transitioning is tough, and I take a while to adjust each time, but I recommend every marketer get experience from all angles. You learn things that help you in any form of work you do. At this point, I feel I’ve found the perfect fit with PETA. It doesn’t get better than working in-house with the ability to focus on just one objective for a social cause you can believe in. Question: Obviously People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is a huge non-profit organization with the kind of budget most non-profits (and some for-profit small businesses) will never see—how can smaller business hope to compete with larger brands online? Answer from Jordan Kasteler: Well actually our Marketing budget isn’t very big and we’re still a non-profit. I’ve had more resources to work with at bootstrapped startups in some ways. But I’m fortunate PETA is a larger non-profit with way more to work with than most non-profits have. We do really a lot on creativity and emotional connections to get us the spread and buzz most other non-profits or businesses would have to pay a pretty penny for. That should shed some light on how smaller businesses can attempt to compete with larger brands. Be sensational, versatile, flexible and have personality. Often, large companies are afraid of that as they feel it’ll hurt their brand. Smaller companies have the advantage of doing it to gain a brand. Either way, build a solid brand! Question: Social media marketing is free, right? Answer from Jordan Kasteler: Hah! I’ve heard executives say that before. It’s not free as labor, resources/tools, and time are not free. Also, with so many social media sites, like Facebook, are trying to monetize they move toward ad models which cost money obviously. And I think we’re seeing a trend of sites starting to prohibit exposure without paying for it. For example, Facebook Promoted Posts to show up in your own audience’s News Feeds. Question: What are some ways that a brand can connect and interact with social media influencers? Answer from Jordan Kasteler: Get an individual within your organization to create a relationship with them. Make that personal connection, engage with the influencers, and then go for the “ask” later on at that point. This is much easier to do as a non-profit as it is for a commercial business though. Finding influencers is getting easier and easier with tools that score influence and activity of individuals or listen to social streams and separate out influencers.

Site owners often underestimate the time and effort it takes to build an audience. They also have a hard time creating valuable content to share that’s not highly commercialized with a goal to sell.

Question: A small business owner (or busy marketing manager with a small team) has to wear many hats and time is always tight. What are some social media time management tips you have to help them stick with their social media campaign but not lose hours a day to it? Answer from Jordan Kasteler: I deal with this a lot. I’ve come to find some productivity tips that help in general. For starters, schedule everything in your calendar (including brainstorming time) and set reminders to let you know it’s upcoming so you can prepare for it. Use Evernote to create to-do lists that you check and prioritize daily. Evernote accessible from the app, Web, and on mobile. And if you need to send a reminder to it, there’s an email address they provide where you can email yourself a note. For streamlining social media management, there are plenty of tools like Hootsuite, IFTTT, and Buffer that allow you to streamline and schedule things like updates. I find this helpful but also dangerous if it’s all automated and there’s no personal authenticity or engagement added in. But definitely check out IFTTT as you can automate a lot processes in social media. Question: Who is the best person within a company to “own” social media if there is no one with the title “social media marketing manager?” Should it be someone who knows PR? SEO? Copywriting? Maybe even the sales or customer service teams? Answer from Jordan Kasteler: I think this highly depends on the company and its structure. Ideally there would be a social media marketing manager with well-rounded experience in communications, PR, search, writing, etc. This person should work closely with other departments to make sure they have a variety of input. But it’s easy to spread yourself thin so it helps to have a team of people to manage different social portals but one person to oversee it all to make sure there’s cohesion. Question: What are some of the biggest misconceptions site owners have about social media marketing? Answer from Jordan Kasteler: Well we addressed one earlierNthat it’s “free”. Another big misconception would be that if you start a Facebook Page and start posting then people will come. Site owners often underestimate the time and effort it takes to build an audience. They also have a hard time creating valuable content to share that’s not highly commercialized with a goal to sell. It takes educating them on different elements of sales funnels and how social media fits in to a path and process to alleviate those misconceptions.

MWM 18 Question: In the description for your book, A to Z: Social Media Marketing,it reads “Nit teaches promotion [t]o social media holistically and not a channel-by-channel basis.” What typically happens when companies silo their social media? What happens when they un-silo it? Answer from Jordan Kasteler: Far too often marketers or organizations focus too much on the social network itself and not the cohesive strategy of using social. Often times, they don’t consider the unique audience the content or message will resonate with the most. When people hear “social media” a lot default to Facebook and Twitter. But the reality is there’s a whole world of other social media out there where you can prevail. It’s best to predetermine the appropriate way you are going to distribute and promote messaging and content on social media than just default to “post on Facebook and Twitter” every time you want to push something out there. By doing so you’ll have a more uniquely engage and targeted audience visit, and you won’t be boring or annoying other audiences that are less interested. Question: What do you wish traditional SEOs understood better about social media marketing? Answer from Jordan Kasteler: That, while social signals (i.e. endorsement from sharing on social media), will be highly important and are somewhat important now, don’t go around selling “100 Facebook Likes or +1s” in lieu of link building. Traditional SEO is still important and social media helps the exposure of content but still aim for getting the traditional link. Social media can help find those great links too. I have a post I wrote about how I achieved the most popular article on Search Engine Land. Using these social media marketing strategies will ensure ultimate visibility and therefore links. Question: What does 2013 hold for “social SEO?” Answer from Jordan Kasteler: A hard push on retraining searchers to search socially. With Facebook Open Graph search, Bing’s social integrations, and Google integrating Google+ networking we’re going to see a highly social environment for SEO. But the question remains whether or not this helps or hinders search. In my opinion, this may open up a window for traditional search engines that keep things simple (i.e. how Google started and got popular) to rise up. People don’t like change or to be retrained. I’d argue most people today aren’t even trained on how to search properly as-is. I do envision some sort of resistant from the masses that aren’t as technically inclined.

Question: How much content is “enough” content to succeed online? Is there such as thing as too much content? Answer from Jordan Kasteler: Google has always valued freshness but it’s not mandatory. However, if you want visitors to keep coming back then keep coming out with fresh content. Google has really been pushing all sites and businesses to be publishers of quality content. Doing so ensures you’ll get links which means you’ll get rankings which means you’ll get targeted visitors. A mistake I see is focusing on quantity over quality. Instead of writing a new short and crappy post every day, because you only have a half hour daily, try to combine those half-hours into 2.5 hours in a week. Do a more well-researched, quality, and relevant piece of content. It’ll be much more worthwhile doing so in terms of your brand, traffic, and rankings. But don’t leave readers hanging too long if they’re coming back daily. Having filler content, even if it’s just quick commentary on a curated and relevant story, can help keep readers pleased.

Question: Like most SEO tactics, when something is given the thumbs up by Google and the SEO community it is ultimately abused. There has been some grumblings amongst members of the SEO community about the fear of a “guest blogging penalty.” Do you think there is ever a chance that Google would go after guest blogging (in some way) as a black hat SEO tactic? Answer from Jordan Kasteler: There are definitely things that “go viral” within the SEO community like Content Marketing (discussed above) and Pinterest for SEO. Google definitely perpetuates such things. In general, the SEO community is very reactive to what Google or Matt Cutts says or does. I feel like that’s exactly what Google wants too. For example, Page Speed has been important for a long time. Anything that affects quality score of PPC landing pages is likely something to affect SEO too. But as soon as Google says it’s a factor then everyone goes nuts over it when it’s really a minor part of your rankings. I’m sure that Google will crack down on low quality guest blogging as that’s essentially part of the crackdown on low quality content and link building overall. This would be a good mix of Panda and Penguin. But if you’re doing low quality posts on irrelevant sites now anyway you have bigger problems. Tons of patents have indicated that Google will look at the value of a link based on page popularity and link CTR so if you’re still building links on pages that don’t get traffic and aren’t quality you are doomed to lose value of those links at some point. Some SEOs out there fail to realize that no individual algorithm metric or tactic works alone. There are many signals that all interact together with varying levels of importance based on your mix of signals. There’s no one size fits and gone are the days of trying to fool search engines with an array of tactics. I mean, it still works, you can still spam but it’s just not sustainable. So unless you’re a spammer trying to make a buck, focus on building quality content and a quality brand. Question: Speaking of penalties, what do you think Google has in store for 2013? Are we in for more Pandas and Penguin or will this be a quieter year for SEO? Answer from Jordan Kasteler: I think we’ll see more reinforcement of Panda and Penguin which will really weed out the agencies providing low-quality services. We’ve already seen this but those companies can only sustain for so long and 2013 will make it even harder to hang on. I feel like there’s a large reluctance to change and adapt, and instead figure out a new way to cheat the system. This will also be a huge year for mobile search as this is evolving rapidly now in so many ways from app search, Siri and S Voice, local portals, to search engines. Sites are finally waking up in regards to their mobile user experience and the important role mobile search plays for them. Also, social search will highly evolve as I touched on earlier. Again, it remains to be seen if it turns out add relevancy to our searches and lives.

I was sent a pair to try out and boy was I not let down. I studied sound recording a few years back and have always had a keen ear when it comes to music. Having used Apple’s earphones on my iPhone (they always fall out and the sound is tinny) and gone cheap with a pair from The Sharper Image (lasted a while but you need a battery to boost the bass and the wire comes loose from the headphones), I was desperate for a reliable pair that enhanced my tunes. On arriving, I liked the LSTN packaging and then realized that these phones were definitely Origin of Cool material. You can fold them up into a little carry pouch that they included and even unplug the wiring from each headphone. Unlike most headphones that have a rubbery wire that often wears down, the wiring is covered in an eloquent woven material that looks as if it will last a while. The headband is padded and adjustable. The acid test was to see how long it would take for them to hurt my ears. I would say if you keep them on continuously, it might be an hour or so but they feel great and I would recommend them as DJ phones as they are very versatile and can be rotated and held to your ear if they are around your neck. The pair I got are made from an ebony wood which gives it a sleek finish. I love these things and they haven’t been off my head in the few days since I got them!

INTERNET MARKETING TECHNIQUES By: Michael Tasker

There are several techniques for internet marketing which can be adopted. These are:

The increasing popularity of the internet and internet marketing and the fact that it has an impact of every aspect of our life cannot be denied. The internet has become so popular that even businesses are conducted on the internet these days. Online businesses are no different than the other forms of business. The basic principles and the method of carrying on the business remain the same. The only difference lies in the fact that on the internet, the transactions are conducted online in a faster manner and in a much efficient manner. Like other businesses, an online business also needs to be promoted. Business owners who run their business online need to make sure that their products and services reach to the people or users who make use of the internet. The technique used for promoting business on the internet is known as internet marketing. Business owners who run businesses on the internet carry out internet marketing with the help of websites. Websites offer the customers an interface using which the products and services can be known by the customers. Internet marketing, therefore, requires that business websites be carefully designed so that they are search engine friendly and get a high rank in search engine result pages. This will ensure that the business website gets more visitors and the owner gets to earn more profit.

•

Keeping track of and analyzing the traffic that is routed to the website: This simply implies that one must know who the target audience is and how will it get attracted to the website. One needs to understand the interests and the motivations of the target audience to make sure that the website meets their expectations. This is one of the main requirements of internet marketing.

•

Requesting for links: Creating links is the most effective internet marketing technique. A website that has a large number of inbound links is known by a wider audience and also gets high traffic as it gets listed at high ranks in search engine result pages. One must always request for quality inbound links from non-competing companies; this makes the internet marketing effective.

•

Writing articles: One can even write articles about the products and services that one deals in on various websites on the internet. Today, this is one of the best techniques of internet marketing that one can make use of. These articles can then be submitted to directories and article submission websites. The main advantage of using articles as an internet marketing technique is that these offer a good way in which link popularity can be improved and the website can get more traffic.

The adoption of the above stated internet marketing techniques assure one of the fact that the website will get high rank in search engines. Also it ensures that the website will be visited by a large number of visitors. This will eventually help the business owner to earn more returns on investments made.

Like other businesses, an online business also needs to be promoted. Business owners who run their business online need to make sure that their products and services reach to the people or users who make use of the internet.

MWM Q&A MLM SEO EXPERT TERJE SANNARNES INTERVIEWED By: Ted Nuyten Terje Sannarnes was born in 1975 in Kristiansand, Norway. He and his wife Mirjam and their three wonderful children (2 daughters age 8 and 5 and the youngest, their son, aged 3) still live in Terje’s hometown, Kristiansand. Terje is a highly recognized and respected Search Engine Optimization Expert in Norway, and the founder of the website www.rankno1.com. Terje has spent thousands of dollars on search engine optimization tools and countless hours training on SEO techniques. Terje has also met with success in network marketing and direct sales online and is a firm believer that you can achieve anything once you set your mind to it, take steady consistent steps and never ever give up. Terje’s goal is to help others to find their God given talents and to guide them to prosper and grow in them. If you are thinking of becoming an online MLM entrepreneur but do not know where to start, you will want to read this interview. Ted Nuyten had the honor to interview Terje Sannarnes concerning this important service for MLM web owners. Terje, what are your SEO tips for MLM or Network Marketing affiliates? Things have certainly changed over the last year Ted. Now more than ever social media is playing a very important role in the development of your online presence. Sales are not happening without social engagement. People want to know who the person is behind a product or brand. Now with the advent of Google Plus, I would have to say that every MLM or network marketing affiliate must have a Google Plus profile and at the very least a personal blog. Fresh content is what it’s all about. And linking your website (or blog) to your Google Plus profile establishes authorship and presents you as the authority or “go to” person in your area of expertise. Creating a SEO blog is a major element in your online campaign. Blogging provides an MLM entrepreneur with a wide range of unique advantages and creates the perfect forum to engage with people. Blog visitors can easily turn into subscribers and clients. It’s obvious that social networking sites are extremely popular today. So, communicating with people through these websites is a must. Of course they must be mindful of the 80/20 rule whereby they offer 80% value and exciting or entertaining content and 20% of the posts can lead to your blog where you have more value but also have an opt in where you can build your list.

-Stephen Colbert

Terje, what are your suggestions for SEO experts who wish to become Online Entrepreneurs? In order to become successful On-line entrepreneur you must learn how to stand out among the other SEO experts who provide the same services that you do. If you have just started your business, you should aspire to get large projects. Small projects will help you get more experience and create a highquality portfolio. If someone starts criticizing you, try to respond to it correctly. Keep in mind that your potential clients may read all that is written about you. Be always polite even if it turns out to be difficult. As you can see, the Internet provides a lot of money making opportunities for SEO experts. If you are tired of your current work, you can become an online entrepreneur and be your own boss! Today not only SEO experts, but the other people as well are searching for freelance jobs. If you are an experienced SEO expert you can start your own business and develop it successfully. There are a lot of reasons why SEO experts start looking for freelance work. In fact, there is no need to worry if you still do not know how it can be done. But back to your question Ted, I would like to tell you about the most effective ways to become an online entrepreneur. First of all, let’s discuss the main advantages of freelance work. The most important advantage is that you become absolutely independent and work the way you like. Freelance work will enable you to make your own schedule and plan your work day. In fact, you must be a highly trained SEO expert in order to be able to attract the attention of the clients. Providing only high-quality services will help your business develop properly. Some people suppose that there is nothing difficult about online work and they can start getting high income immediately. The truth is, SEO experts must work hard in order to find a good and profitable project. A lot of people dream about starting a home-based business and making it prosperous. Now you are going to find out how this aspiration can be realized. Due to the fact that online business is developing successfully and the vast majority of business owners have their own websites, SEO experts are highly demanded today. Terje, how can SEO Experts parlay their skills into the Network Marketing arena? It is beyond doubt that freelance work is the best choice for enterprising people. If you are an experienced SEO expert, you can use the services of freelance websites in order to find the projects you are interested in and start to form relationships and to network with like minded network marketing entrepreneurs. Network marketers who work with web designers may also need a SEO expert. Thus, you should start cooperating with web designers who will recommend you as a reliable specialist when the right moment comes. Participating in conferences is the quickest way to get acquainted with those people who need SEO services. In this way you will be able to attract new clients and become a successful entrepreneur. You can find out about the upcoming conferences reading SEO forums or SEO blogs. While you are still building your portfolio to show to your clients, you can offer some of your services for free. This way, you will get the additional experience and one more project for your portfolio.

Be always polite even when it seems difficult to do so. Humility is far more appealing than arrogance and your online persona is a public arena. SEO forums are the ideal place for attracting clients and partners. On forums you can find a lot of people who need the services of a SEO expert. Incidentally, you can also find SEO agencies in your city and start cooperating with them. All social networks have communities. However, if you fail to find an SEO community, you can always create one yourself and attract participants. And if you really want to find clients and become a successful network marketing entrepreneur, you should participate in various SEO contests. However, creating a website is the most effective way for network marketing entrepreneurs to attract clients. Describe the services you provide, write several articles about SEO and the main website promotion techniques that you usually apply. It would be interesting for your potential clients to read this information, find out what kind of a specialist you are and whether they can trust their websites to you. Then you can have an opt in form on your blog that gives some useful information that people will opt in for. Give tons of value and be sure to have an “opportunities” or “work with me” tab on your site where you can offer your MLM or network marketing business to your clients. People have already gotten to know you through your range of SEO services. They recognize you as an expert in your field and are accustomed to doing business with you. The next steps follow quite naturally. Terje, what are your recommendations for getting best results with SEO? When you create your website always ensure than you pay close attention to the off page SEO techniques. This pertains to all your written online content. You are “writing for the web”. Your article/blog post/single web page or press release must be at least 400 characters, and if it is a blog post it ought to be 800 words, to be able to create the authority in your content which Google loves! On your website, first of all you will need to make sure you include a <h1> formatted Title which includes the keyword you optimize the page for</ h1> Make sure that it is a Catchy title which SPARKS the readers to continue to read the article, press release or blog post. Your first sentence needs to include the same keyword as the title, and should also be such a good sentence that when the readers see it they will read it all! You will also need to do the same for your sub-title “h2” and “h3”. When you wrap up your blog post or article, ensure that you use the keyword in the last sentence. But it is important to make sure that all the keywords placements look natural and give the readers value when they read the post. The truth is that all of this “off page SEO” stuff are the absolute basics of SEO. The real magic happens when you get into more in-depth aspects of search engine optimization. This is dealt with in more detail in my Free Report Terje, give us some words of wisdom for MLM and Network Marketers ? If someone starts criticizing you, try to respond to it correctly. Keep in mind that your potential clients may read all that is written about you. Be always polite even when it seems difficult to do so. Humility is far more appealing than arrogance and your online persona is a public arena. Another thing is that it really doesn’t make sense chasing a number of rabbits down multiple holes. Find a business model that you can stand beside, one that you like the product and can zealously promote it with a clear conscience and go for it!

MWM back story

JUDI SHEPPARD MISSETT HAS ENJOYED A LIFETIME OF DANCE AND FITNESS By Amy Florence Fischbach

Judi Sheppard Missett knew she would dedicate her life to the joy of dance from the first time she stepped on the stage. But it wasn't until years later that she realized she would also be devoting her life to fitness. The 61-year-old Jazzercise founder and CEO credits her longevity in the fitness industry to her ability to adapt to different trends. While Jazzercise has had the same core philosophy since the 1970s — making exercise fun and effective for individuals of all ages and fitness levels — the company has continually changed its music, movements and class structure to stay on the cutting edge.

MWM 44 “We always make sure that our classes are fun and challenging and our students feel successful,” she says. “That's why we're still here and doing better than we've ever done.” Club Industry's Fitness Business Pro magazine will recognize Judi for her decades of dedication to the fitness industry by presenting her with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Club Industry show this November in Chicago. Jazzercise, Inc., which recently celebrated its 35th anniversary, has grown from a one-woman operation to a worldwide business with 3,200 locations, 20,000 weekly classes and more than $70 million in system-wide sales. Before founding Jazzercise, Judi toured on Broadway and worked as a professional dancer. At the age of 14, she joined a touring company and starred in a production of “West Side Story.” She went on to star in “Funny Girl,” “Hello Dolly,” “Mame,” “Coco” and “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” in New York, Chicago, Atlanta and Miami. Her dancing roots, however, began in Red Oak, Iowa, where her mom enrolled her in a dance class. “I was pigeon toed, and my mom thought it would be good for me to be in a dance class to help with my inward rotation,” she says. “My mom would practice with me every day for a half an hour, and I was very willing to go to class. I loved it, and everything came naturally to me.” Her hard work paid off. As a young girl, she taught dance classes to her friends in the neighborhood, and decades later, she's helped thousands of women get fit by creating Jazzercise, which started in Chicago and has spread across the nation and the world.

Training the Teachers To meet the high demand for classes, Judi trained 11 instructors at her home. Later as the number of instructors grew, Judi and Jack turned to a new technology at the time — the home VCR — to train the teachers. The couple drove to San Diego to purchase two VCRs and a video camera, and Jack, a former Chicago CBS news reporter, filmed Judi's dance routines, made copies of the videotapes one by one and mailed them to the teachers. When the Jazzercise instructor numbers grew to 100, the couple started their own production company to produce the tapes for Jazzercise as well as clients nationwide. Judi also took her concept to the next level by selling franchises nationwide and worldwide and provided business opportunities for thousands of women. Jazzercise has continued to stay on top of technology by training its instructors with DVDs and Internet resources. The company sends the teachers a DVD with 28 new routines and the accompanying music every 10 weeks, and the instructors can download choreography notes from the Jazzercise Web site. Judi still teaches five classes per week and designs all the choreography for the Jazzercise classes. Her niece, Kathy Missett, says 80 to 100 students show up for Judi's classes.

Where It All Began The history of Jazzercise can be traced back to 1969 when Judi was a student at Northwestern University in Chicago and taught dance classes at a jazz studio. Her classes had a 90 percent dropout rate, and she searched for ways to improve retention. One day it dawned on her that her students attended the class to lose weight, have fun and get in shape — not to become professional Broadway dancers. As an experiment, she turned them away from the mirrors and became less critical of their movements. Her students loved the concept, and she soon doubled and tripled her class attendance until the room was packed. Jack Missett, her husband of 39 years, says the mothers of the dancers also served as inspiration for the dance-fitness program. “I would sometimes drop in on class and see eight or 10 women with scarves around their necks sitting on chairs knitting, reading and watching their daughters,” he says. “One day Judi turned and looked at the mothers and said she had to do something to get them up on their feet and experience the joy of movement.” In her first “just for fun” dance classes, which she later named Jazzercise, she used a jazz dance warmup to start the class and then used up-tempo choreography for the main portion of the workout followed by a stretch and cool down at the end. When she and her family moved from Chicago to California, she started teaching the dance classes for the Carlsbad Parks and Recreation Department. Word spread about Jazzercise, and the program exploded with women from all over the area attending the classes. To keep the participant numbers to a manageable level, the city department began limiting participation to individuals with a Carlsbad, CA, street address, but that didn't stop some women, who signed up for P.O. boxes at the Carlsbad post office so they could attend the Jazzercise classes.

“She's dynamic and has a presence on stage,” Kathy says. “She can motivate a room of people like no one else. I feel that the same level of energy and motivation that she's able to bestow on the class is the same level of energy that she gets back from her class.” By working out along with the students, Judi can test her movements before the production company films the training DVDs for the instructors. After her production company pretapes her workouts, an exercise physiologist reviews the movements for safety and if necessary, Judi modifies the routines before the final taping. While group exercise classes are on the decline in some health clubs, Jazzercise has grown stronger with each year. One key to Jazzercise's success is consistency, Judi says. Unlike group ex classes that can vary from instructor to instructor, Jazzercise students know what to expect when they walk into a class, she says. “They know they'll do a little yoga and Pilates, burn some calories and get out of the door in an hour,” she says. “Sometimes in a health club, they don't know what to expect and they can feel lost. That's when class attendance can take a big hit.” Judi's ability to develop new and creative routines every 10 weeks for 36 years amazes Angie Ford, the owner of the Overland Park, KS, Jazzercise center. Ford has been teaching since 1989, and she says the classes have gotten more intense. For example, she remembers a routine in the 1980s to the song “Fame” that was a heavy cardio routine. Twenty years later, Jazzercise used a remake of the song, and the routine was used for a warmup routine. “Jazzercise continues to challenge people who have been doing it for 15 or 20 years,” Ford says. “That's why we've been around for 36 years rather than fading into the sunset.” Legacy of Fitness Jazzercise may continue long after Judi steps off the dance stage. Her daughter, Shanna Missett Nelson, now serves as the executive vice president of the organization and manages the Jazzercise executive team. She started her career with Jazzercise as a certified instructor and media spokesperson and then became the coordinator of Junior Jazzercise, a dance fitness program for children, and the vice president of international operations. Kathy, a Jazzercise senior business analyst who works closely with Judi and Shanna, says the mother-daughter team balances each other out. “They bring different perspectives to the table, which is critical,” she says. “Judi has grown the business from the ground up, is passionate about the program and is very heavily involved in Jazzercise. Shanna can step out of that box and see Jazzercise through the eyes of our instructors and students.”

MWM 45 Shanna joined the Junior Jazzercise performance group at the age of 7, and as a teenager, she watched her mom's first workout album climb to gold certification status. It wasn't until she went to college in Tucson, however, that she saw how popular Jazzercise was outside of the Golden State. At that time, she attended Jazzercise classes and witnessed the enthusiasm of the students.

“I'm honored and thrilled and feel like I haven't done that much in my lifetime. It's very humbling to be honored for something that you love and are passionate about.”

“Every day I watched my mom get excited about her job, and I couldn't help but share her passion,” Shanna says. “Jazzercise has been more than her life's work. It's something she truly believes in and has used to motivate thousands of people everyday. When it came to identifying role models and a career path for my life, both were very clear to me.”

Q&A with Judi Sheppard Missett

Future of Jazzercise

A: I was teaching in La Jolla, CA, and one of my students said I should call it Jazzercise because it was a combination of exercise and jazz dance. A couple of days later, I went to the copyright office and registered the name.

Judi and Shanna are working together to develop new choreography, organize annual events, promote the Jazzercise-branded line of fitness apparel and raise money for charities. In the past 20 years, Jazzercise has raised more than $25 million for different causes. Their newest program, Art and Soul Tour, benefits the Boys and Girls Clubs of America's Art Enrichment Program for Kids and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Their goal is to raise $1 million with a 10-city tour. “Art feeds your soul and brings so much joy into people's lives,” Judi says. “As an artist who has been successful, I want to give back to those who need a little help. We've also made great strides in breast cancer research. There's not one woman who hasn't been touched by breast cancer.” As far back as she can remember, her aunt has given back on both a local and national level, Kathy says. Judi and her daughter are now trying to tackle a nationwide issue — childhood obesity — by offering Junior Jazzercise classes in elementary schools. Some Jazzercise centers also offer Junior Jazzercise classes, but Judi encourages instructors to go a step further by teaching classes at schools in their gyms, cafeterias or classrooms. Since Jazzercise hired a full-time Junior Jazzercise coordinator, the program has grown by more than 100 percent, Kathy says. Jazzercise is also reaching out to seniors by offering Jazzercise Lite classes in retirement communities.

Q: How did you come up with the name Jazzercise?

Q: What are you the most proud of in your professional career? A: Being able to found a company that is woman-based, has a history of 35 years and is only getting stronger and better. I know it will continue to grow and change with my daughter and my granddaughter. Q: What are the benefits of continuing to teach Jazzercise? A: I have five regularly scheduled classes per week and am in class every day. I need that exposure with my student base to make sure that everything works and everyone likes the movements and can do them. Q: What are the advantages of sending your instructors training DVDs and music rather than having them create their own routines? A: It's really hard to do on your own. Every 10 weeks they can count on me to get a DVD with great music and fun movements. Q: How has Jazzercise managed to continue growing over its 36-year history? A: I think number one it's fun. We have remained consistent in what we do, and our students see the benefits of hard work. I also have so many incredible people who are totally dedicated to Jazzercise and share my passion. When you have people like that around you, you can't help but be successful. Q: How do you feel about winning the Lifetime Achievement Award? A: I'm honored and thrilled and feel like I haven't done that much in my lifetime. It's very humbling to be honored for something that you love and are passionate about. In their words “When I see her, I'm still starstruck and am like a teenager at a Beatles concert. She's one of my top five heroes. While she's done extraordinary things, she's still a down-to-earth person with good old Midwestern roots.” Angie Ford, owner of the Overland Park, KS, Jazzercise center and instructor since 1989

By providing classes for children, senior citizens and everyone in between, Jazzercise has made fitness fun and effective for students of all ages, Judi says. When she first started her dance classes in Chicago, she had no idea how far she would come in 36 years, she says. Her husband says her passion, positive attitude and compassion have gotten her to where she is today.

“What she's done has affected millions of people's lives in terms of introducing them to a fun way to be fit and raising their potential to enjoy life,” he says. “She has introduced them to the joy of movement.”

“She's dynamic, very passionate, persistent and flexible — and not just in the physical way. Her flexibility is one of the reasons why she's continued the success of Jazzercise. She's open to new ideas and new ways to grow the company and the program, which is often difficult for entrepreneurs. They take a product or a service that is their passion and have a hard time incorporating other's thoughts and ideas.” Kathy Missett, Judi's niece and Jazzercise senior business analyst “Judi always has a positive attitude. I remember when we had a car with a sunroof and we were going to Los Angeles. Traffic was terrible. I was driving and fuming because I hate to wait. She looked up through the sunroof and said, ‘This is a beautiful day.’ She's never lost that quality.” Jack Missett, Judi's husband, who she met on a blind date during the summer of 1965 and married a year later. They have two children, Shanna and Brendan, a granddaughter named Skyla and another grandchild on the way.
