Solid Scoring Options Has Team Excited

Always tough to play against, that will be the case again in this summer’s HNIB Boys Showcase for the Connecticut/NY entry.

Behind the bench for this club is the highly-knowledgeable Jim Salfi, whose coaching career has spanned decades, including a stint at D1 RPI.

Up front, Connecticut/NY has several options that can put the puck in the net.

Fairfield Prep (CT) had another big season in the Nutmeg State and the Jesuits have two of their offensive leaders here in senior Aksel Sather, a returner for CT/NY, and fellow senior Tiernan Curley.

Two other top Connecticut HS perfomers taking their talents to prep school hockey are West Haven’s Ben Carfora, who will call Loomis Chaffee home this winter, and Northwest Catholic’s Jack McDermott, who will play for nearby Brooks School for the 21-22 campaign.

Senior Matthew Jankovsky was huge in the success of the Fairfield HS co-op this past winter. Darien HS senior Alek Garabet will certainly contribute.

A pair of standouts from the state of New York ready to show what they can do are Rye Country Day senior Jackson Stein and senior Quinn Murray, who plays his winter hockey for Chaminade.

Junior Willem Donnelly will be another scoring option for Fairfield Prep this winter. Notre Dame of West Haven gets plenty of mileage out of senior stalwart Ashton Delmonico.

Middletown South (NJ) forward Aiden Cavendish brings his strong, two-way game from the Garden State.

The defensive unit will be built around Fairfield Prep senior Connor Mahoney and Darien HS senior Ryan Spengler.

Senior Brenden Hilinski from Sheehan HS is an excellent two-way player from the blue line. Darien’s Mathison Hole also heads off to Brooks School, where he will repeat his sophomore season.

Two juniors on the blue line are Duke Nower from Wethersfield HS and Tegan Grillo from Notre Dame of West Haven.

In the nets, post-grad Tommy Martin returns for another summer with CT/NY. After a solid year with Fairfield Prep, he will be at Vermont Academy this winter. Senior Louis Alfidi is the backbone of the BethelBrookfield-Danbury co-op program.
