Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, have donated $5 million to help undocumented immigrants attend college, Zuckerberg said in a post on his Facebook page. The donation is aimed at helping 400 youth over the next five years through TheDream.US, a nonprofit founded in 2013 to provide scholarships to college-bound youth who came to the United States undocumented as children. “Without documentation, it’s often a struggle to get a college education, and they don’t have access to any kind of federal aid,” Zuckerberg said. “We ought to welcome smart and hardworking young people from every nation, and to help everyone in our society achieve their full potential.” Zuckerberg’s donation will be used specifically to help undocumented immigrants in the San Francisco Bay Area attend college. In the Rose Garden, a triumphant Obama praised the ruling. “After multiple challenges to this law before the Supreme Court, the Affordable Care Act is here to stay,” he said, adding: “What we’re not going to do is unravel what has now been woven into the fabric of America.” The ruling was a blow to Republicans, who have been trying to gut the law since it was enacted. Concesionario de autos en Arkansas paga $90,000 por no mostrar ‘Guía para Compradores’ en autos usados ¡Hola! Arkansas Washington, DC Un concesionario de autos en Arkansas y sus propietarios han acordado pagar una multa civil de $90,000 dólares para resolver los cargos de la Comisión Federal de Comercio (FTC, por sus siglas en ingles) por no haber mostrado ((ya que no mostraron)) en los vehículos usados ofrecidos a la venta una “Guía para Compradores”, según lo requerido por la Regla de Autos Usados de la FTC. Que está diseñado para que los consumidores tengan información importante de la compra y la garantía al comprar un auto usado. La Guía para Compradores informa a los consumidores: • Si el vehículo viene con una garantía y, si es así, si se trata de una garantía limitada o “completa”;
• Qué sistemas están cubiertos por la garantía y su duración; • Si se trata de una garantía limitada, qué porcentaje del costo por piezas cubre y que mano de obra el concesionario pagará; o • Si el vehículo se vende sin garantía escrita o implícita (“Como Es”); y • Si el vehículo se vende sin garantía por escrito, pero con garantías. La Regla también dispone que la Guía para Compradores llegue a ser parte del contrato de compraventa y anula cualquier disposición contraria en el contrato. Además de la pena civil de $90,000 dólares, bajo la orden final propuesta, Abernathy Motor Company y sus propietarios tienen prohibido tergiversar hechos materiales acerca de vehículos usados a la venta, incluyendo condiciones mecánicas, términos de cualquier garantía ofreci-
da y que haya una garantía cuando un vehículo es vendido sin una. También están excluidos de no revelar, antes de una venta, términos y condiciones materiales, incluyendo que un vehículo usado se vende sin una garantía si no se ofrece y los términos de cualquier garantía. La orden propuesta también requiere que los demandados muestren prominentemente un formato debidamente llenado de la Guía para Compradores en vehículos usados, con toda la información requerida por la Regla de Carros Usados y que reflejen la cobertura de la garantía, e incluir esta declaración en los contratos de venta: “La información que aparece en el formulario de la ventana para este vehículo es parte de este contrato. An Arkansas auto dealer and its owners have agreed to pay a $90,000 civil penalty to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that they failed to display a “Buyers Guide” on used vehicles offered for sale, as required by the FTC’s Used Car Rule. Which it is designed to ensure that consumers have important purchasing and warranty information when shopping for a used car. The Buyers Guide informs consumers: • Whether the vehicle
comes with a warranty and, if so, whether it is a “full” or limited warranty; • Which systems are covered by the warranty and its duration; • If it is a limited warranty, what percentage of the cost for covered parts and labor the dealer will pay for;
• Whether the car is sold with no written or implied warranty (“As Is”); and • Whether the car is sold with no written warranty, but with implied warranties. The Rule also provides that the Buyers Guide becomes a part of the sales contract and overrides any contrary provisions in the contract. In addition to the $90,000 civil penalty, under the proposed final order, Abernathy Motor Company and its owners are prohibited from misrepresenting

They are also barred from failing to disclose, before a sale, material terms and conditions, including that a used vehicle is sold without a warranty if none is offered, and the terms of any warranty. The proposed order also requires the defendants to display prominently a properly completed Buyers Guide on used vehicles,
with all of the disclosures required by the Used Car Rule and reflecting the warranty coverage, and to include this statement in sales contracts: “The information you see on the window form for this vehicle is part of this contract. Information on the window form overrides any contrary provisions in the contract of sale.” For sales conducted in Spanish, the defendants are barred from failing to provide the same information in Spanish. The Commission voted authorizing the file proposed stipulated order for

process during elections. In all, 14 states had laws on the books that specifically said same-sex marriages and civil unions would not be performed or recognized in their states. In the past 10 years, many states either by referendum or legislature have voted to allow same-sex marriages or civil unions. Just two years ago, the Supreme Court struck down part of the federal anti-gay marriage law that denied a range of government benefits to legally married same-sex couples. The actions of these states indicate that states are very capable of making this determination without the U.S. Supreme Court stepping in. The ruling will not take effect immediately because the court gives the losing side roughly three weeks to ask for reconsideration. But some state officials and county clerks might decide there is little risk in issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples. The decision in United States v. Windsor did not address the validity of state marriage bans, but courts across the country, with few exceptions, said its logic compelled them to invalidate state laws that prohibited gay and lesbian couples from marrying.

While taking your car to an auto service professional is a great way to ensure its performance, the Car Care Council reminds vehicle owners there are few simple vehicle checks that they can easily learn and do themselves to save a little money and help keep their vehicles running efficiently all summer long. With basic knowledge of common maintenance practices and a little time, motorists can inspect the following components in their own driveway: Check the tires, including tire pressure and tread. Uneven wear indicates a need for wheel alignment. Tires should also be checked for bulges and bald spots. Check all fluids, including engine oil, power steering and brake and transmission, as well as windshield washer fluid and antifreeze/coolant. Check the hoses and belts as they can become cracked, brittle, frayed, loose or show signs of excessive wear. These are critical to the proper functioning of the electrical system, air conditioning, power steering and the cooling
system. Check the wipers and lighting so that you can see and be seen. Check that all interior and exterior lighting is working properly and inspect and replace worn wiper blades. Keep the reservoir filled with windshield washer fluid. Keep the cooling system working effectively, the coolant and distilled water mixture for a vehicle’s radiator should be 50:50. Never open a hot radiator cap when checking the coolant level in the reservoir. As a rule of thumb, the coolant should be changed annually on most vehicles. Check the gas cap to ensure it is not damaged, loose or missing to prevent gas from spilling or evaporating. Do not neglect the exterior. When washing the outside, make sure to include the tires and wheels and the underside and fenders to eliminate any road salt or grime. The body of the vehicle should be washed using a product sold specifically for cars. Wax your vehicle every six months. Los hispanos son uno de los grupos étnicos que más rápido crece en Estados Unidos, con 52 millones como parte de la población del país, pero su conocimiento y manejo del colesterol alto está por debajo de otros grupos étnicos. Arkansas Dallas, TX Nearly half of Hispanic adults were unaware they have high cholesterol, and less than a third receive any kind of cholesterol treatment, in a new study in Journal of the American Heart Association. Hispanics are one of the fastest growing ethnic groups in America, with 52 million among the U.S. population, yet their awareness and management of high cholesterol lags behind other
ethnic groups. Educating Hispanics/ Latinos about the importance of maintaining healthy cholesterol levels could have a significant public health impact on reducing the burden of heart disease in America. Researchers reviewed data from 16,415 Hispanics, between 18 to 75 years of age, who participated in the Hispanic Community Health Study/ Study of Latinos. They found: 49.3 percent of Hispanics were not aware that they had high cholesterol
levels. Of those who were aware, only 29.5 percent received treatment. High cholesterol was more common among men than women, 44 percent versus 40.5 percent. However, men had lower rates of cholesterol treatment compared with women, 28.1 percent versus 30.6 percent. The 40 percent of participants were obese, 25 percent had high blood pressure and 17 percent had diabetes, all risk factors for heart disease and stroke.
Younger adults, women, the uninsured, those with lower income, and more recent immigrants were less likely to have their high cholesterol controlled.
Hispanics born in the United States were more likely to be unaware of their high cholesterol compared with foreign-born Hispanics, however, longer U.S.
