Arkansas Kiev, Ucrania La tragedia del vuelo MH17 de la Aerolínea Malaysia que fue derribado en Ucrania el 17 de julio, continúa desarrollándose a medida que más y más víctimas se revelan. The tragedy of the Malaysia Airlines MH17 that was shot down over Ukraine on July 17, continues to unfold as more and more victims are revealed. Now, heartbreaking new pictures and information about the 80 children including 21-month-old Kaela Goes just one of three infants aboard the doomed flight who were killed when MH17 was allegedly shot down out
of the sky have been released. Entire families were killed in the tragedy, as multiple children were traveling on the plane with their parents. Malaysian Airlines’ Flight MH17 is an international tragedy, but few details are more heartbreaking than the 80 children and babies whose lives were lost far too soon. Just months before her second birthday, the sweet little girl with big beautiful eyes was traveling
home to Malaysia with her parents after visiting their relatives in Holland. Margaux van den Hende, 8, was aboard MH17 with her two older brothers Marnix, 12, and Piers, 15, and their parents Shaliza and Hans. After news of their death broke in their hometown of Eynesbury, Australia, over 600 friends, family members, and residents attended a memorial service for the family of five who was taken too soon. There were also two fam-
ilies who lived on the same street in the Netherlands aboard MH17, including three children ages ranging from 8 to 10. All three children, including their four parents, were killed when the flight crashed to the ground. They were headed to Bali for a group vacation. Due to political unrest it has been very difficult for rescue workers to get their jobs done. Our thoughts remain with the families and victims of flight MH17.

Every year in August, National Immunization Awareness Month is recognized. Vaccines help protect your child and others from serious and life-threatening illnesses. Many people have concerns and questions about vaccines. Here are a few that may help you understand the importance of immunizations. What are vaccines?
Vaccines are made from a small amount of weakened or killed viruses and bacteria. When a vaccine is given, most often by an injection (shot), the body makes antibodies (proteins in the body that help fight diseases) to build up the immune system. This is called immunization. Why immunize? Even though some diseases (like polio and diphtheria) are rare in the United States, we need to contin-
ue to immunize to continue the protection that has taken many years to build. Even if only a few cases of disease occur, if we take away the protection given by immunizations, more and more people will be infected and will spread disease to others. Are vaccines safe? Yes! Vaccines are very safe. Millions of children and adults are safely immunized each year. The most common side effects of an
immunization are typically very mild, such as pain or swelling at the injection site. When should you immunize your child? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has published recommendations for both children and adults on their website in easy to read schedules: www.cdc.gov/ vaccines/schedules/easyto-read/index.html. The schedule for infants and
children is designed to protect them early in life when they are most vulnerable. Most childcare facilities and schools will not allow children to attend unless they are up-to-date on their immunizations. Why are so many doses needed for some of the vaccines? Getting every recommended dose of each vaccine gives your child the best protection possible against disease. Every dose
of a vaccine is important because they all protect against infectious diseases that are threats today and can be especially serious for infants and very young children. • Directions: For the balsamic reduction, reduce 1/2 cup of balsamic vinegar in a small pot on low heat until vinegar is reduced by two-thirds. Set aside and allow to cool to room temperature. Verizon to donate backpacks in Little Rock August 2 ÂĄHola! Arkansas Little Rock, AR Residents in Little Rock are about to benefit from a national backpack giveaway campaign. The Cellular Connection (TCC), the largest Verizon Premium Wireless Retailer in the U.S., in a joint effort with its customers, announces that it will be donating 100,000 backpacks full of school supplies to children through its School Rocks Backpack Giveaway. Last year, the company donated 60,000 backpacks. More than 350 participating TCC stores across the U.S. are inviting local families to bring their children to the store between noon and 2 p.m. on Augost 2 to
pick up a backpack filled with pencils, paper, a pencil box, folders, glue and more. One backpack per child present will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. The participating store in Little Rock is located at 2608 S. Shackleford Road. Each participating TCC store will donate between 75 and 300 backpacks.
