And we have traditionally published a magazine issue that previews many of the cool new products. The 2020 National Hardware Show has been canceled due to the pandemic. What a bummer. We'll have to miss our annual trip, which was always fun and informative, and we won't be able to offer a true National Hardware Show Preview, which has always been a popular feature for our readers. Automatic Door Bottoms, often used for commercial applications, are increasingly being specified for residential doors. An Automatic Door Bottom utilizes a flat spring mechanism which activates when closing the door, lowering a neoprene seal insert against the floor or threshold. The frame compresses a protruding hinge-side “plunger” as the door closes, activating the spring. The Automatic Door Bottom then drops a seal in a scissor-like motion from the hinge side, adjusting to the floor from a pivoting point. As the neoprene seal compresses, it forms a tight, secure seal against the floor. The sweep retracts automatically as the door opens. Automatic Door Bottoms can be made to fit any sized door up to 48 inches and are available as surface-mounted units for easy retrofits, as well as mortised and semi-mortised versions. These unique custom staircases are created using oak, hickory, steel and other materials for either interior or exterior applications.
