Established in 1977, the Hong Kong Arts Centre (HKAC) is a multi-arts centre that fosters artistic exchanges locally and internationally, bringing the most forward creations to Hong Kong and showcasing homegrown talents abroad. The HKAC stimulates innovation and promotes creativity. Being Hong Kong’s only independent non-profit multi-arts institution, the HKAC offers exhibitions, screenings and performances, connecting the arts of Hong Kong to the rest of the world through programmes and collaborations.

Its moving image team has been organising educational and training programmes, and presenting a diverse range of arthouse, independent and alternative moving image works from Hong Kong and the rest of the world. These are carried out with the objectives of broadening horizons, inspiring creative visions and deepening dialogues on the appreciation of the cinematic arts. Through our moving image programmes, film industry workers, young and independent filmmakers and students learn from great works of cinema and develop their careers; and general audiences acquire their passion for films. Our in-house theatres (Louis Koo Cinema, McAulay Studio and Shouson Theatre) present a wide range of cinematic works from everlasting classics to avant-garde eye-openers, covering a variety of genres including shorts, documentaries, art films, commercial features, multimedia experimental works and others. We have been organising talks, workshops, local and international tours and competitions to give film professionals the opportunities for artistic, cultural and professional exchanges as well as local and international exposures for their career development.
