Remember the “2008 Doomsday,” the world’s economic financial crisis, which was called the “Pandemic of the Family Wallet”and how it affected our economy? Many small businesses and professionals choose not to promote their businesses during this trying time. Of those businesses and professionals, 50% who adopted the doomsday mentality and just hoped that things would return to normal without doing anything to help their cause, were not only wrong, but now are out of business and working for someone else. However, the good news is that 80% of the people and businesses that choose to contribute to the Women’s Journals are still in business and better yet, they are still with the Women’s Journal after 13 years. Don’t you think it’s time to join us? Education sells. The Publisher

Coronavirus-induced heart injury, lessons learned….. so far It has become clear that involvement of the cardiovascular system is common in COVID-19 infected patients. Around 25-33 % of hospitalized patients will show evidence of myocardial injury as defined by abnormal cardiac enzymes, detected on regular blood tests. The affected patients are generally older and have a higher incidence of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, coronary artery disease and heart failure. In addition, myocardial injury is associated with a more severe COVID-19 infection that often times requires the use of ventilators and is associated with higher in-hospital mortality. This disease affects multiple organ systems, in addition to the heart and vessels, lungs, kidneys, liver, intestines and brain. Several mechanisms of myocardial injury have been described with this coronavirus: Direct viral invasion of the heart cells (Myocytes), blood clots in both large and small vessels, inflammation mediated injury, stress-induced cardiomyopathy and actual heart attacks. Most of these
cases have been observed in prolonged coronavirus cases, longer than 14 days as a general rule. Coronavirus enters the human cells by attaching to the ACE-2 receptor on the cell surface through the virus spike protein, in the finger-like projections that make this virus so characteristically familiar to all of us. These receptors are abundant in lung, vessels and heart cells. The virus takes over the cells mechanisms to replicate itself and infect adjacent cells, rapidly extending to multiple organs. It is the body’s inflammatory response to counter the virus that causes the clinical syndrome that we see with fever, cough, general malaise, progressing to pneumonia, kidney failure, heart disease and other organ systems. The inflammatory response can lead to direct damage to the inside of small and large vessels in the major organs causing blood clots to form and create hypoxia (lack of adequate oxygen levels) at the different tissue levels. This is the main reason why the pneumonia caused by

the COVID-19 infection has turned out to be so different from typical ones. Current treatment for COVID-19 infection includes antivirals such as remdesivir, antiinflammatories such as steroids, anticoagulants such as heparin and convalescent plasma. The reality is that the vast majority of COVID-19 patients will have either none to mild symptoms. Those with preexisting conditions
(lung disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity or diabetes) as well as older than 65 will be more predisposed to developing a more serious form of the condition can progress to severe lung failure or heart injury with its potential for a prolong disease or will be in the less than 1 % of patients than will not survive the infection. Prevention and early detection and attention remain the key factors. Wear your masks when out
in public places, especially indoors and keep your distance and your hands clean. Protective eye wear is also important. In the latter months of this pandemic, effective treatment protocols have been developed, and an effective vaccine is coming in 2021. Seek attention early if you are exposed or suspect you may have COVID-19. Do not fear medical care, this virus is here to stay a while longer, and we are learning to live with it!

Radiofrequency Skin Tightening at ReNove Med Spa Michelle Parsons, MD is a graduate of Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia and received her residency training from the State University of New York in General Surgery, and Christiana Medical Center in Emergency Medicine. She also served as a Flight Surgeon in the Air Force. Dr. Parsons specializes in Aesthetic and Integrative Medicine. Most individuals experience facial aging at some point in their lives. While many patients look into plastic surgery to correct imperfections like wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin, there are those who desire an alternative solution that is less invasive. At Renove Med Spa, we offer state of the art treatments like the Pixel 8 Radio Frequency Skin Tightening, to rejuvenate the face and provide you with a youthful and attractive appearance. What is Radiofrequency Skin Tightening? Radiofrequency skin tightening is a technique used to tighten sagging and thinning skin with minimal pain, downtime and expense with fantastic results, noticeable within a few weeks after the first treatment. Radiofrequency skin tightening treatments use small micro needles to deliver a form of heat energy, or radiofrequency, past the top layer of skin, deeper into the skin tissues. This causes a micro-injury to the skin, sending a message to the skin to heal and repair itself, without negatively impacting the outward appearance of the skin. This procedure also triggers fibroplasia, the process in which the body forms new fibrous tissue and stimulates the production of collagen, causing collagen fibers to become shorter and more tense. At the same time, the molecules that make up collagen are left undamaged.
Skin elasticity increases and loose, sagging skin is tightened. What Can I Expect During a Radiofrequency Skin Tightening Treatment? Prior to your treatment, your skin will be cleansed and a topical numbing cream will be applied and allowed to take effect. Once you are ready for the treatment, you will be placed in a comfortable reclined position and the treatment will proceed area by area. A full facial treatment takes 25 minutes. You can watch a video of Dr. Michelle Parsons performing a treatment on her website https://www. renovemedspa.org/rf-microneedling . There should be minimal discomfort with the treatment, as the energy levels are adjustable for all skin types. As the treatment proceeds, you will feel as if you have a moderate sunburn. Cool air is used for comfort during the treatment, which is typically not needed upon completion of the treatment. Prior to leaving, a hydrating cream and sunscreen will be applied to your skin. Makeup can be applied after 12 hours. When Will I see Results from Radiofrequency Skin Tightening? Immediately following the treatment, most people will feel as if they had a windburn or mild sunburn. There can be mild swelling after the treatment, but not everyone has swelling. Skin tightening and softening of visible lines and wrinkles can be seen as soon as 4 weeks

after the treatment, and will continue to improve and tighten the skin for 3 to 6 months following the treatment. It is recommended to receive 3 to 5 treatments over the course of a year, typically spread apart by four weeks. There are discounts for package treatments. Since the improvement of skin tone, texture, is from your natural healing of your skin, results are long lasting and in general, and with proper skin care, results last years.
What Areas Can Be Treated with Radiofrequency Radiofrequency treatments are most commonly performed on facial and neck skin. It is exceptionally beneficial around the eyes, to treat loose sagging eye skin, and around the mouth, to improve lip lines. It is also common to treat the chest and hands. We also treat sagging knee skin, stretch marks, surgical scars and acne scars.

Maria E. Cruz, D.D.S. Dr. Cruz grew up in sunny San Juan, Puerto Rico. She attended The University of Maryland in College Park where she earned a B.S. degree in Zoology. She went on to graduate from Georgetown University School of Dentistry in Washington D.C. Dr. Cruz is very excited exploring and enjoying her new life in Salisbury, MD. Her outside interests include exercise, classical music and traveling with her daughter,.
How Oral Health And Heart Disease Are Connected Presented by Maria E. Cruz, D.D.S. It’s increasingly common to hear that oral health is vital for overall health. More than 80 percent of Americans, for example, are living with periodontal or gum disease, which often goes undiagnosed. This may be because the patient’s teeth feel fine, so he avoids going to the dentist, and visits to the physician rarely focus on oral health. There is now evidence of two specific links between oral health and heart disease. First, recent studies show that if you have gum disease in a moderate or advanced stage, you’re at greater risk for heart disease than someone with healthy gums. And second, your oral health can provide doctors with warning signs for a range of diseases and conditions, including those in the heart. Why Are These Things Related? Oral health and heart disease are connected by the spread of bacteria – and other germs – from your mouth to other parts of your body through the blood stream. When these bacteria reach the heart, they can attach themselves to any damaged area and cause inflammation. This can result in illnesses such as endocarditis, an infection of the inner lining of the heart, according to Mayo Clinic. Other cardiovascular conditions such as atherosclerosis (clogged arteries) and stroke have also been linked to inflammation caused by oral bacteria, according to the American Heart Association.
Prevention Measures Good oral hygiene and regular dental examinations are the best way to protect yourself against the development of gum disease. The American Dental Association (ADA) Mouth Healthy site recommends brushing your teeth twice a day with a soft-bristled brush that fits your mouth comfortably, so it reaches every tooth surface adequately. You should also floss daily and visit your dentist for regular professional cleanings. By being proactive about your oral health, you can protect yourself from developing a connection between oral health and heart disease, and keep your smile healthy, clean and beautiful throughout your life.
Maria Cruz, DDS Family Dentistry
Who Is at Risk? Patients with chronic gum conditions such as gingivitis or advanced periodontal disease have the highest risk for heart disease caused by poor oral health, particularly if it remains undiagnosed and unmanaged. The bacteria that are associated with gum infection are in the mouth and can enter the blood stream, where they attach to the blood vessels and increase your risk to cardiovascular disease. Even if you don’t have noticeable gum inflammation, however, inadequate oral hygiene and accumulated plaque puts you at risk for gum disease. The bacteria can also migrate into your bloodstream causing elevated C-reactive protein, which is a marker for inflammation in the blood vessels. This can increase your risk of heart disease and stroke, according to the Cleveland Clinic. Symptoms and Warning Signs You may have gum disease, even if it’s in its early stages, if: • your gums are red, swollen and sore to the touch. • your gums bleed when you eat, brush or floss. • you see pus or other signs of infection around the gums and teeth. • your gums look as if they are “pulling away” from the teeth. • you frequently have bad breath or notice a bad taste in your mouth. • or some of your teeth are loose, or feel as if they are moving away from the other teeth.

Why You Should See A Chiropractor For Allergy Relief Dr. Tracy Hudson Dr. Hudson is a ’95 Cape Henlopen High School graduate and continued her educational career at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. While attending UNCW, Dr. Hudson suffered an injury playing softball and she sought treatment with a local chiropractor. After a few adjustments, Dr. Hudson was back on the field. Now being a true believer, she decided to further her education in the natural healing art. She attended Life University in Atlanta, Ga. for 3 years, and then transferred to Texas Chiropractic College in Houston. After graduating in 2004, she moved to Clearwater, Fla., where she was in private practice for 8 years. During that time, she also became a Fellow of the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture. She has now moved back to her home town to share her love of chiropractic with our community.
In the industrialized world, a growing number of individuals are affected by allergies. Currently, the numbers are between 10-30 percent of the total population and are increasing steadily. For Americans who suffer from nasal and seasonal allergies, the costs very quickly add up. It is currently estimated that between doctor visits, prescriptions, and time missed from work, these allergies cost in excess of 3 billion each year. Of course, with Spring just around the corner, the familiar sneezing and itchy, watery eyes can be expected to come out in full force. For allergy sufferers, the welcome break from winter is not entirely pleasant. Seasonal or not, all allergies are the result of an exaggerated response by the immune system to substances that it recognizes as foreign. In allergic persons, the immune system produces a specific antibody known as immunoglobulin E (IgE) in response to pollen, pet dander, foods, dust, and other matters which then produces the symptoms of an allergic reaction. Of course, there are medications to help control the allergic response and provide relief from symptoms. There are even medications that will be lifesaving in the event of severe allergic reactions. However, in addition to treating symptoms, there are other steps which can be taken to boost the immune system and lessen allergic reactions.
HOW CAN A CHIROPRACTOR HELP WITH ALLERGIES? The strength of both the immune and respiratory systems depends largely on proper communication between the brain and spinal cord to control and coordinate their functions properly. When there are interruptions in this communication such as misalignments of the neck, immunity may be compromised. This upper cervical joint irritation can exaggerate or even produce allergic and asthmatic symptoms. Through manipulation of the joints and soft tissue either through traditional chiropractic adjustment or spinal decompression, a chiropractor can help restore alignment and open the necessary pathways of communication between the brain and spine. In addition to promoting a stronger immune system, adjustments may also help regulate the rush of histamine and amount of cortisol produced during high allergy season. The majority of allergies involve release of inflammatory producing substances such as histamine. Adequate production of cortisol, an anti-inflammatory hormone produced by the adrenal gland is necessary to combat this. Understandably, many allergy sufferers are also found to have weak adrenal gland function. What many do not realize is that the adrenal gland is fed directly by the T9 spinal level nerve root, meaning once again, that spinal misalignments can greatly impact allergic reactions.
The County Woman’s Journal
Dr. Sheila Burek Dr. Sheila Burek is a Buffalo, N.Y. native, who received her Bachelors of Science degree in Biology at D’youville College. She then worked as a medical research assistant in Cardiology at the University Of Buffalo School Of Medicine. It was at that time that Dr. Burek suffered an injury at the gym, for which she sought chiropractic care. It was through this experience that Dr. Burek became interested in furthering her healthcare career in alternative medicine. She attended Palmer College of Chiropractic, graduating in 1995. After 18 years of private practice in Pennsylvania, working in a multi-disciplinary setting, including orthopedic surgeons and physiatrists, she relocated to our beautiful beach town.
By helping to maintain balance and regulation of important allergyfighting hormones, a chiropractor can help allergy sufferers find relief and lessen reliance on antihistamines. Along with spinal adjustments, chiropractors typically offer helpful lifestyle and nutritional advice to patients based on their specific needs. Chiropractic is a holistic method of medicine which recognizes that the human body is healthier and functions at a higher level when all aspects of health are considered, including physical, nutritional, and environmental. For allergy sufferers, certain foods and environmental factors may improve
or worsen their symptoms. A chiropractor can help you determine lifestyle and dietary changes that may serve to lessen allergy symptoms and improve overall comfort and health. If you are among the millions of Americans who suffer from a wide range of allergies, there may be a solution to help minimize your symptoms. A chiropractor can help identify any underlying neck or back misalignments which may be compromising your immune system. Furthermore, they can help you determine best practices and eating habits to help keep allergic reactions at bay.
Testimonial As a long time patient of Dr. Shella Burek I give her only the highest marks. She is a top notch professional in her field and a very sensitive and dedicated person. She has helped me tremendously in reducing the pain in my back and neck and in teaching me how to manage it. - Barbara Barskj-Carrow, Ph.D.

By Esther Curtis & Judy Schlott For a lot of us, 2021 was the fresh start we all needed. A new year presents us with the opportunity to let go of bad habits and develop new, more positive behaviors. The choice to change is a personal one, but the change itself is not something we need to undertake alone. Substance use or mental health disorders affect about 63 million U.S. adults. Statistically speaking, it is likely that you or your family have been impacted by one or both disorders. As a treatment provider, SUN knows these disorders do not discriminate, and in fact, they often overwhelm parents and working adults. Overdoses have steadily increased throughout our region; SUN Behavioral is now a NARCAN training and distribution point to give community members the tools they need to help save lives. time but still need support during their recovery. Women – especially busy working moms – struggle to make their own wellness a priority. Because the IOP is remote, participants can be fully engaged regardless of their physical location. And SUN accepts a wide variety of insurance plans, including commercial, state, federal, and military plans. SUN’s goals to Solve Unmet Needs will continue throughout 2021 and in the years to come. In October, SUN will celebrate three years of operations in Delaware. We work to identify gaps in services and build programs that bridge those gaps. SUN’s values of Safety, Teamwork, Integrity, and Compassion guide us as we build, innovate, and seek to challenge traditional healthcare models. Our patients live in the real world, and SUN works to give them practical tools to take on their own paths to recovery.
Last year, SUN Behavioral distributed a survey to a few hundred people to ask them what programs were needed most in their communities. An overwhelming number of those people requested more options for outpatient services, available at times convenient for working adults. Professional people who are in recovery – especially those with a co-occurring mental health disorder – needed supports they could work into their daily routines. In response to this need, SUN’s Outpatient Services team got to work. After all, our company name (SUN) is an acronym that stands for “Solving Unmet Needs” in the communities we serve. A new program was born: an evening adult Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), available 100% via telehealth, launching February 15, 2021. At SUN, we’re committed to reducing the stigma that has been attached to mental health and substance use disorders. People have needs, and we work to support them as they rebuild their lives. Our goal is to meet them where they need us, and give them the tools. The Adult Evening IOP will give an advantage to people who work full

My Tongue Tie Journey Dr. Gerardo Martinez Many of us have heard of the term ‘tongue tie’ or the medical term, Ankyloglossia, which literally translates to: anker of the tongue. It is a condition that has existed in newborns for thousands of years. In the middle ages, Midwives used to cut the tissue restricting the tongue with a sharp fingernail. Over the centuries, the procedure has been performed to facilitate nursing which is usually the first sign of an issue. The term ‘tongue tie’ has become a controversial and oftentimes divisive topic among many healthcare professionals. Even among fellow pediatric dentist colleagues, the procedure can spark heated debates with others having strong opinions for and against it. The issue is so controversial that most of my dental training, including residency in pediatric dentistry, the topic was barely discussed let alone doing a full dive into proper evaluation and treatment. I practiced as a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist for nearly a decade before the issue of tongue ties came knocking at my own door. My own two children were afflicted with the condition. I was not able to recognize all of the signs and symptoms until years after they were born. My son was born in 2015 and we couldn’t have been happier as a family. The whole experience was incredible until it came time to nurse our baby. He would not latch on and would cry hysterically in hunger and desperation. The hospital staff recommended we use formula to help calm him down. My wife wanted to breastfeed our son, and having a bottle of formula within the first hours of life was not part of the plan. After the first couple of sleepless nights, we gave in and started to use formula before we had even left the hospital. We did not have a lactation consultant meeting with us until we were walking out of the room with our bags and a fussy newborn. It was a quick conversation that did not involve actually nursing our newborn. More theory than practice. On our follow up visits, my son was labeled as a “lazy baby” and my wife as a “new mom”. After many continued attempts, my wife gave up on nursing. It became too difficult both physically and emotionally. She pumped for 1 year, 2 days, and 6 hours!
issues will soon start to appear. Tongue ties can interfere with normal nasal breathing by narrowing the space available in the airway. This often results in tongue tied children developing into mouth breathers. Mouth breathing is associated with a host of negative outcomes such as a higher chance to develop frequent nasal congestion, asthma, eczema, and sleep disorder breathing. Our daughter developed all of the above. Both of my children have been released and are doing better. Although, tongue tie problems are not solved but just cutting it. It is about a collaborative approach between primary healthcare providers, lactation consultants, speech therapists, and other medical specialists to help improve the quality of life of the children we serve. Their journey to a full recovery is still on it’s way.
“... The issue is so controversial that most of my dental training, including residency in pediatric dentistry, the topic was barely discussed let alone doing a full dive into proper evaluation and treatment ...”
The assessment questionnaire included was recently published by Dr. Richard Baxter, author of the best seller ‘Tongue Tied’, to help identify patients who may need a thorough evaluation by a trained provider. You can find the link to the full article on our website at www.DelPD.com.

In 2016, we welcomed our 2nd child into the world. Our daughter looked more tongue and lip tied than our son yet she nursed without any issues. I vividly remember telling my wife.. Maybe the lazy baby/ new mom diagnosis was right! But that was not the case. Difficulty with nursing is just one of the first signs of a problem, but it is not the only one. Easterseals Supported Employment: Dream Jobs for Dream Employees By Natalie Scott When most young adults graduate from high school, they typically know which direction they are going to head, whether it be attending college or jumping right into a job. When Mikayla graduated from high school, she and her mom, Michele, knew exactly where to turn and it was the place where she began many years before -- Easterseals! “Mikayla had a good foundation as a child, thanks to the Easterseals Children’s Therapy program. So when she graduated, for me, there was no other choice, it was Easterseals,” Michele says. “If you have a differently-abled person in your life, you need Easterseals because you’ll never find the caliber of expertise and caring with any other program. Mikayla is proof of that. She now utilizes the Easterseals Supported Employment program as an adult, which has helped her blossom even more while also gaining some financial independence.” Easterseals Supported Employment gives adults with intellectual disabilities, including autism, the choice to experience the community through individualized employment. The program matches participants with jobs in local businesses so they can earn competitive wages with the assistance of job coaching and training. Based on her skill set and knowing Mikayla, who has Down syndrome, would thrive working within a business in the community, her Employment Specialist, Camille, connected her with a position at Grotto Pizza where she can interact with coworkers and customers. Easterseals Supported Employment matches participants with jobs in local businesses so they can earn competitive wages with the assistance of job coaching and training. “I love Easterseals and Miss Camille, my Employment Specialist! She helped me get my job so I can work every day and I get to do a good job to get my paycheck,” Mikayla says. “Miss Camille always makes sure I’m okay and she makes sure DART picks me up on time. I get to make new friends and see my friends at work. I love it.” When she is not working, Mikayla loves going out to eat and is a huge movie buff. She is also incredibly generous with the money she earns. She often treats her mom and friends to dinner or ice cream. Mikayla stays well-connected with friends and Blue Gold buddies. During the summer, Mikayla enjoys her time swimming and being with her friends at Easterseals Camp Fairlee.

“Mikayla is happy and thriving. Easterseals got her where she needs to be. Each person is different and Easterseals pairs them up with someone who will hone-in on all of the aspects of your child,” Michele says. “Easterseals makes sure Mikayla learns and grows from her job. When Mikayla’s outside of the home at work, I feel 100% confident her best interests are being met and that means a lot. It is so much more than a job to the people at Easterseals. Camille is there when I am not and I need her to be. It is me and Easterseals. We are her advocates. They are ‘Mom 2.0.’” Once individuals are trained in their position, they work independently with the support of co-workers. Easterseals Employment Specialists provide ongoing individualized training and coaching to ensure long-term success on the job. “It is about quality of life. Mikayla is happy and self-confident. She enjoys getting paid and being able to pay for things herself. None of it would have been possible without Easterseals,” Michele says. “There is no excuse for our kids not to shine and thrive with everything Easterseals offers at our fingertips. All you have to do is pick up the phone!” Currently, Easterseals works with more than 60 businesses statewide supporting more than 80 individuals with disabilities in competitive employment. To learn more about how Easterseals can help you find the perfect employee for your business, call Jane Schuler at 302-324-4444. Unfortunately, the unemployment rate for individuals with disabilities is more than double that of workers without disabilities. Many people with disabilities want to work, but have not been able to secure jobs because of accessibility and attitudinal barriers. As a result, labor force participation for individuals with disabilities is less than 1/3 of general labor force participation. Easterseals Tunnell Center is located at 22317 DuPont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947. Please visit our website and see all of our services for people of all ages and abilities: www.de.easterseals.com.

Giving you my time, compassion and full attention is as important as any test or procedure I perform.”
HEMORRHOIDAL TREATMENT Over half the population will experience some type of hemorrhoidal problem in their lifetime. You may be suffering in silence because you are too embarrassed to discuss the problem, or worry that the cure will be more painful than the problem itself. Now, advances in medicine have made hemorrhoid treatment fast and virtually painless. Your only challenge is finding a doctor who offers the right treatment and makes you feel comfortable receiving it. How do hemorrhoids develop? Hemorrhoids are simply swollen and engorged veins in the anal and rectal region. They are most commonly caused by changes in frequency of bowel movements, pressure of straining and hormonal changes or pressure during pregnancy. The veins swell and stretch and gradually lose the support of surrounding connective tissue. Hemorrhoids can cause the following symptoms: Itching/Burning Bleeding Protrusion during Bowel Movements Pain Hygiene Concerns Are all hemorrhoids the same? Hemorrhoids are actually classified into four stages
based upon severity. This helps determine which treatment is most appropriate for you. 1) Stage I: The hemorrhoids remain inside at all times. They do not protrude from the anus. 2) Stage II: The hemorrhoids protrude with a bowel movement, but reduce spontaneously. 3) Stage III: The hemorrhoids protrude with a bowel movement, but require manual insertion. 4) Stage IV: Fourth degree hemorrhoids: The most severe hemorrhoids always protrude and cannot be pushed back inside.
a variety of minimally invasive procedures that cut off blood flow to the hemorrhoid and cause it to shrink. In some cases your doctor may recommend a surgical procedure to remove excess tissue.
What are the treatment options for removing hemorrhoids? Effective hemorrhoid treatment depends on your specific medical condition. No doctor should recommend a solution without first doing an exam to rule out other potential causes of rectal pain or bleeding.
During the 60 SECOND procedure, the physician uses a gentle suction device to place a small rubber band around the tissue, just above the hemorrhoid. There are very few nerve endings in this area to cause any pain. The hemorrhoid shrinks and falls off within a day or two. Research has shown that 99.8% of patients treated with the CRH O’Regan System ™ have no post-procedure pain and require no pain medication before, during, or after the procedure. There is no bowel prep, and you can drive yourself home afterwards. Another advantage, external hemorrhoids may also improve with this option.
Once you have been diagnosed with hemorrhoids, you will have different options to choose from, depending on the severity of your case. You may get adequate relief from increasing fiber in your diet, taking warm sitz baths and using topical creams. Treatment options include

Can People With Peanut Allergies Get The Covid Vaccine? Presented by Alexandra Gallagher Starting August 1, 2021, Alexandra will be a student for PreMed/Biology at the University of Miami.
By Aristos Georgiou NEWSWEEK 12/18/20 The Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is now being rolled out across the United States as part of the largest vaccination campaign in American history. But can people with allergies to food—such as peanuts—get the shot? According to guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC,) people who have a history of food, pet insect, venom, environmental, latex or oral medication allergies can receive the Pfizer/ BioNTech vaccine.
The American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology has said that the vaccine should not be administered to anyone with a known history of severe allergic reaction one of the components called polyethylene glycol or PEG in particular. This substance has previously been documented as a a cause of anaphylaxis by scientists, although these reactions are rare. The CDC says that individuals who have a history of severe allergic reaction to any vaccine or injectable therapy can still get the Pfizer/ BioNTech vaccine but they should take extra precautions. The agency recommends that such individuals should undergo a risk assessment and discuss the potential harms of taking the vaccine with their doctors. Those with a history of only mild allergic reactions to vaccines or injectable therapies can take the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine without these extra precautions, according to the CDC.
The CDC recommend that vaccine providers should observe people with a history of anaphylaxis—a severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction—due to any cause for 30 minutes after the individual receives the shot. Everyone else should be observed for 15 minutes. “If you have a severe allergic response—for instance people have peanut allergies or egg allergies or food allergies—you can still get this vaccine, you just need to wait for 30 minutes in the area where you got the vaccine so if you do have an allergic reaction someone would be able to give you a shot of epinephrine to reduce it,” Dr. Paul Offit, who sat on the FDA advisory board that approved the vaccine, told reporters during a a Poynter Institute webinar on Monday. “And then we for everybody else, we make a recommendation we always make with vaccines, which is that whenever you get a vaccine, you should hang around for about 15 minutes to make sure you didn’t have a severe allergic reaction because one out of every million doses roughly of vaccines is complicated by severe allergic reaction,” Offit said When it comes to allergies, the only people who shouldn’t get the vaccine are those who have a history of severe reactions to any component of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, according to the CDC. These ingredients are listed below: 1 mRNA 2 lipids or fats: ((4-hydroxybutyl)azanediyl)bis(hexane-6,1-diyl) bis(2- hexyldecanoate), 2-[(polyethylene glycol)-2000]-N,Nditetradecylacetamide, 1,2-distearoyl-snglycero-3-phosphocholine, and cholesterol) 3 potassium chloride 4 monobasic potassium phosphate 5 sodium chloride 6 dibasic sodium phosphate dihydrate 7 sucrose

Perfect Chemical Peel Michelle Parsons, MD is a graduate of Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia and received her residency training from the State University of New York in General Surgery and Christiana Medical Center in Emergency Medicine. She also served as a Flight Surgeon in the Air Force. Dr. Parsons is the owner of Renove Medical Spa in Rehoboth Beach.
Winter is the perfect time of year to refresh and restart new skin growth. We are often too busy, going too many places, visiting too many people, to take the time to have a little down time and refresh our sluggish skin cells with a revitalizing chemical peel. This is a perfect time of year to take the time to address our skin’s needs. Chemical peels work by drying out the top layer of dead skin cells so they can be exfoliated and sloughed off, to stimulate new skin growth with soft, smooth, refreshed skin underneath. Chemical peels are also very effective at controlling acne breakouts and to even
pigment from previous acne. Here at Renove Med Spa, we offer the best superficial, medium and deep chemical peels available. In addition to our glycolic peels of various strengths, we have the powerful ViPeel and this month we are introducing the Perfect Derma Peel. https://www.renovemedspa. org/chemical-peels The Perfect Derma Peel contains several powerful ingredients instead of just one ingredient to affect the skin in multiple ways. The Perfect Derma Peel includes TCA, Kojic Acid, Retinoic Acid, Salicylic
Acid, Phenol, Vitamin C and the anti oxidant Glutathione. It is this combination that produces the best exfoliation, lightening, brightening, active acne treatment and smoothing combination vs a single ingredient chemical peel. This peel can be used on all skin types. For the month of February when you book a Perfect Derma Peel we will add the neck and chest areas at no additional charge, a $200 savings, and complimentary anti-itch lotion and sunscreen. Both the ViPeel and the Perfect Derma Peel are $350 and the price of our glycolic peels varies. What Can I Expect During a Chemical Peel? We will prep and cleanse your skin with alcohol or another drying agent to allow effective penetration of the chemical peel. As we apply the chemical peel, you may notice a mild tingling sensation. This sensation is minimal for the both the ViPeel and the Perfect Derma Peel, as the ingredient phenol, present
in both peels, is a numbing agent. Upon completion of application of the chemical peel there will be no discomfort. What Happens After the Chemical Peel? Immediately after your chemical peel application, you will leave with the chemical peel still on and you will wash if off later when you are home. You will be given several
post peel towlettes than have active ingredients to continue the peel process that you will use for the next several nights. Typically the peeling begins on day 3, and you will continue to peel and shed old skin for the next few days. It will be important during this time to use the moisturizer and sunscreen that we send you home with. The peeling is typically completed by the 6th day, leaving you with new baby skin day 7! Peeling can last longer on the neck and chest. So if you are ready for smoother, softer skin and a more even complexion, give us a call to book your peel or a complimentary consultation!

Preparing for Spring Sports Season ... Warmer temperatures, greener grass, sounds of parents cheering, and spring sports are upon us...We are all excited to see kids be kids again and it is important to make sure they stay healthy to finish out the season ... Spring is finally here and let’s hope for a season full of good weather and no disruptions from COVID. Warmer temperatures, greener grass, sounds of parents cheering, and spring sports are upon us. Unfortunately, many sports have been on hold for the last year and many of you are eager to see your kids back out on the field or court. We are all excited to see kids be kids again and it is important to make sure they stay healthy to finish out the season. In preparing for the season, focus on these important steps: Get enough sleep: sleepfoundation.org recommends at least 8 hours of sleep, but athletes who get 10 hours of sleep a night show ability to achieve greater peak performance Eat a balanced diet: provide your body with good fuel to sustain their peak athletic performance. ‘Healthy Eating Plate’ by Harvard Medical School provides an excellent breakdown of a balanced diet. You wouldn’t run your car on poor fuel, so why do it to your body?
Remember there is an offseason: the trend is to specialize in one sport for an entire season. Statistics show that young athletes are 5-6x more likely to experience an injury when specializing in one sport. Multisport athletes develop a greater range of strength and stability than a single sport athlete. And more importantly, the body needs rests, which can only be achieved with an offseason. BenchMark Physical Therapy is more than happy to guide you through this process by answering any questions. We also offer free, quick screenings to pick up on any areas of impairment or dysfunction that may predispose your young athlete to an injury. If there are any concerns, we can help refine movement patterns to help your athlete reduce the risk of injury.
Stretch often: build a dynamic stretching program into your daily routine. Mobility before stability- make sure the body can move appropriately before trying to strengthen it. A good dynamic stretching program focuses on all major muscle groups, should elevate your heart rate, and cause you to break a light sweat. Start conditioning early: build your cardiovascular strength prior to beginning sport specific training. You wouldn’t take a test without studying, so why jump into a sport with a training. Start with a jogging, swimming, or high intensity interval training (HIIT) to build your endurance. This will set you up for a long season. Core Stability: the core is the most important part of the body for any athlete as it is the foundation of every athletic movement. Every athlete should devote 10-15 minutes a day working on core, which includes more than sit ups and crunches to build the 6 pack. Planks, yoga, deep breathing, or Pilates are all good places to start. If you have any questions, it is best to consult with a physical therapist or personal trainer. Sport specific movement training: understand the specific movements of the sport and train appropriately. If the sport requires quick twitch muscles, train the body appropriately.

Non-Surgical Fat Removal Michelle Parsons, MD is a graduate of Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia and received her residency training from the State University of New York in General Surgery and Christiana Medical Center in Emergency Medicine. She also served as a Flight Surgeon in the Air Force. Dr. Parsons is the owner of Renove Medical Spa in Rehoboth Beach.
CoolSculpting Non-Surgical Fat Removal The biggest trend in cosmetic surgery is the expansion of non-invasive body contouring technology, one of the best of which is CoolSculpting, which is available at Renove Medical Spa, the aesthetic medicine practice of Dr. Michelle Parsons, located in Rehoboth Beach. CoolSculpting is an FDA Cleared, non-surgical device that uses precisely controlled cooling to destroy fat cells, thereby eliminating unwanted love handles, bra rolls, and stomach fat. Arms and legs can be treated as well. Unlike some other non-surgical technologies that release fat from fat cells, CoolSculpting destroys the fat cells thereby eliminating treated fat cells. CoolSculpting is a unique non-surgical treatment for the removal of fat from localized areas of excess unwanted fat that is an alternative to surgical liposuction. How Does CoolSculpting Work? The technology behind CoolSculpting was developed by Harvard scientists who noted that fat was destroyed by cold under certain conditions. CoolSculpting is a result of their efforts to harness and refine this application of cold to selectively remove unwanted fat deposits in a safe manner. During the treatment,
your unwanted fatty area will be pressed and chilled to -11C while keeping your skin protected. At this temperature the fat within the fat cells crystallizes which damages and kills the fat cells. Your skin and other tissues are protected and not damaged during this process. Your body will then eliminate the killed fat cells over time. “The best news is that we do not make many new fat cells as an adult. Fat cells may get bigger or smaller as they store more fat or lose fat, but typically, as adults we do not make new fat cells. This helps the results of CoolSculpting be long lasting if there is no subsequent weight gain. Of those patients who do gain weight after a treatment, the weight may not return to the treated areas”. What are the most common areas treated? Many people on a weight loss program continue to have stubborn hard to lose areas, no matter how much dieting, sit ups or weight they lose. Such stubborn areas as typical around the abdomen, the love handles and inner thigh areas. Once you are over forty, losing fat in these areas is extremely difficult. These are the areas that CoolSculpt can address. “Most of our patients are interested in losing fatty areas in the upper and lower abdomen, the muffin top, waist, bra fat, back fat, love handles and the “mommy
pooches”. We can also treat under the chin fat, the jowls, arms, thighs and the thigh saddle bags.” Are there any side effects from CoolSculpting? The side effects from a CoolSculpting treatment are minimal. It is possible to have bruising after a treatment, which would resolve in several days. It is not uncommon to have a mild decrease in sensitivity in the treated area lasting 1 to 2 weeks. In some instances patients will develop a burning tingling sensation 5 days after the treatment which can be controlled with an over the counter lidocaine patch. What does CoolSculpting feel like? The treatment room is very comfortable where you will relax on a padded recliner. When CoolSculpting is applied to the fatty area to be treated there is a cooling sensation for the first 5 to 10 minutes. Gradually this sensation lessens to the point there really is no discomfort during the treatment. A typical treatment session lasts from 35 minutes to several hours, depending on how many body areas are treated. During the actual treatment, patients have access to Netflix
Before
After
and Wifi. “Busy moms find this time to themselves a real treat!” Patients only require 1 treatment to see results and treatment can be repeated for even better results. How quickly do people see results? After a CoolSculpting treatment, the fat cells do not survive the freezing process and die and will be eliminated naturally by the body over time. Many report seeing changes in as little as 2 weeks. The full benefit will take as long as 90 to even 120 days. Patients are seen back at the office in 8 weeks to evaluate their results. Dr. Parsons may also enroll patients on a weight loss program for several weeks following the CoolSculpting treatment to maximize results. How long do results last? Once the fat cells are frozen, killed and naturally eliminated by your body, the results are long lasting. It is recommended
that patients try to maintain their weight so as not to gain any unwanted fat or better yet to try to curb their calorie intake following the treatment and get even better results long term. If a patient were to gain weight, typically the new fat is gained in other body areas, unless you have a particularly stubborn area your body likes to store it’s fat and it might go right back there. But if patients stay fit, CoolSculpting is a long term solution to unwanted body fat. If you are interested in learning more about CoolSculpting and would like to see if you are a good candidate for this effective treatment to lose unwanted fat, please call 302-227-1079 to set up an appointment with Dr. Michelle Parsons at ReNove Medical Spa in Rehoboth Beach. Please mention the Sussex County Woman’s Journal to receive a discount on your first CoolSculpting treatment.

Palliative Care:
How it can help you care for you or your loved ones Palliative care is often a misunderstood healthcare treatment in our community. To “palliate” means to ease or eradicate suffering. An overreaching goal of palliative care is to “meet the patient where they are” and to provide support, information, and guidance throughout their disease process while they continue active, curative treatment for their serious illness. With years of longevity and care in the community, Delaware Palliative is the premier in-home palliative program offered in Delaware. A Palliative Care Team includes a Nurse Practioner, a Social Worker, and a Care Navigator who provides in home support for not only the patient but also the caregivers. Palliative care differs from other in home healthcare support by: • Providing care alongside continued prescribed treatments and other post-acute care options, i.e., home health services and rehabilitation. • Being appropriate at any stage of a serious, life-limiting illness; a terminal prognosis is not required. Through home visits, Delaware Palliative provides assistance with the physical and psychosocial burdens of a serious illness. In collaboration with the primary provider, the Palliative Care Team works with the patient and caregiver to identify goals of care related to symptom management and advance care decisions. Incorporating Delaware Palliative into your current healthcare team allows time for communication of better understanding of the illness as well as options for care and treatment. Early palliative care referrals can limit out of control symptoms and caregiver burden. This intervention allows patients and families to maintain overall control of the serious illness and fosters increased independence and functional ability. The most commonly seen diagnoses include cancer, dementia, end stage renal disease, congestive heart failure, and chronic respiratory diseases. Referrals can be made by loved ones or medical professionals. Patients at any age and stage of serious illness may benefit from and receive palliative services. Medicare, Medicaid, and some Medicare Advantage health insurance programs cover palliative services. Patients are responsible for co-pays, deductibles, and visits not covered by their insurer.
Sometimes a little company makes all the difference. Volunteers make each day brighter for our patients. At Delaware Hospice, we believe in making time for others. We work to make each day the best it can be, so that you can enjoy each moment spent volunteering with us.
Delaware Palliative Story Mrs. T is a homebound 89 year old. Even with the assistance of her daughter it is very hard for her to get to doctor’s appointments. Delaware Palliative was called in so medical care could be provided in her home. In the months prior to admission to Delaware Palliative, Mrs. T experienced frequent and multiple ER visits and hospitalizations for upper respiratory infections. In consultation with Mrs. T’s primary care physician, the Delaware Palliative Nurse Practitioner was able to obtain portable medical equipment for her home and was able to provide hands on education. Mrs. T’s daughter has formed an excellent relationship with Delaware Palliative and calls as soon as she observes a change in her mother. Home assessments, early interventions, including medication prescription, caregiver education, and support has prevented further ER visits and hospitalizations for five months now.

Cheers to a Healthier 2021… Hunterdon Gastroenterology Associates

Established in 1982, Hunterdon Gastroenterology Associates treats all digestive discomfort or potential problems of the esophagus, stomach, liver, colon, or pancreas. Our AAHCaccredited ambulatory Endosurgery Center offers the highest quality treatment with faster access and lower procedure costs while using state of the art technology for your procedure needs. Expertise, leading-edge technology, and personal care: Hunterdon Gastroenterology Associates’ formula for the exceptional patient experience and outcomes we strive each day to provide.
2020 was a difficult year for many reasons. Stress levels were elevated. Consuming the wrong foods and drinks. Not exercising. Skipping our doctor visits. All in all, just a year to forget. Now that it is 2021, let us start the year fresh. Manage stress. It is near impossible to eliminate stress from our lives: From busy work schedules, to family obligations, to financial worries; sources of stress and anxiety are everywhere. There is a strong connection between stress and illness: Stress promotes higher cortisol levels, which has been linked to weight gain. Also, stress can play a huge role in many digestive problems, particularly GERD and IBS. Research shows that anxiety, depression, and stress provoke symptoms in up to 60 percent of people with IBS! Stress management tools such as deep breathing, relaxation and hypnosis can be extremely helpful.
• High-level employee protocols including proper hand hygiene, face masks, eye protection, gloves, and appropriate employee monitoring • Meticulous cleaning and sanitizing • Social distancing measures • Restricting visitors/companions from the office to reduce potential exposure to others. Only individuals accompanying patients who require assistance will be permitted to remain with the patient. • Requiring face masks. • Covid-19 testing for all patients scheduled for procedures in our Endosurgery Center.
Take back your life in 2021. Let us make it a great year!
Eat in moderation. Keep balance, variety, and moderation in your eating habits. Take your time and try not to eat too fast: Slowing down and eating more mindfully helps prevent overeating. You will feel full much sooner than if you will if you race through your meals. Remember, it takes your brain 20 minutes to realize that your stomach is full. Exercise. Getting physical activity will not only help shed pounds, but it can also help moderate stress and boost your mood, which in turn will help combat IBS and GERD. Wintertime activities include skating, sledding, skiing, walking in the mall or outdoors, dancing and working out in a gym or at an exercise class. Bundle up and take a walk around the neighborhood and you will burn 324 calories in an hour. Try to maintain a set schedule for exercise to help boost your metabolism, mood, and energy. Regular screenings. If you are 50 years of age, it is time to get screened for colorectal cancer. Colonoscopies help detect colon cancer. No other colon cancer screening is as thorough and comprehensive to detect cancer and remove precancerous lesions as a colonoscopy. It is the most effective means of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Do not ignore your symptoms. A change in bowel habits that lasts more than a few weeks; a feeling of having to have a bowel movement that does not go away; rectal bleeding; stomach discomfort; unexplained weakness or fatigue; and unexplained weight loss. These are symptoms that you should not ignore. Hunterdon Gastroenterology Associates is here for your health needs. Our office and Endosurgery Center continue to remain open to service the members of our wonderful community with day, evening, and weekend hours. We are available for both virtual and in-person appointments, paying special attention to the safety of our patients. We remain vigilant on staying updated with all state and federal guidelines. For Families Looking for A Simpler Process Without Compromising Exceptional Care Graduating in 2007 from Wesley College in Dover, Delaware and in 2008 from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science with a Bachelor of Mortuary Science, Kathleen is a Licensed Funeral Director and a Licensed Insurance Agent for the State of Maryland. Kathleen has worked for Holloway Funeral Home since 2010 and currently manages the operations of their Eastern Shore Cremation and Funeral Services location as well as the advance planning program for all of the Holloway Funeral Home locations.
For many people, talking or even thinking about their death is a difficult thing to do. However, if it is difficult for you to think about it when you are perfectly healthy, think about how hard it will be for your family to face once you have died. When a close family member’s death has occurred, it is a confusing, overwhelming, and stressful time. All of this can cause people to make irrational decisions that they may not make under normal circumstances. If you could take all of that away from them, you could create a clear, organized roadmap for them to follow. Once you have decided to start your advance funeral plans, you will want to make an appointment with the funeral home you plan for your family to use at the time of your death. For some people, making this decision will take a little bit of work. Don’t feel weird about calling different funeral homes and comparing service options and prices. You need to feel confident that the establishment you choose will take care of you during the advance planning process and take care of your family in their time of need. During the initial planning meeting, the arranger will collect vital information to complete the paperwork. Upon your passing, such documents will be used to acquire a death certificate and write an obituary. Not sure what services you may prefer? The arranger can review the different service options available to you. This
detail you may want to discuss with your family. Your funeral, memorial service, or absence of service should reflect your wishes. Keep in mind that your family members are the ones that need an opportunity to grieve and support one another, so you may want to make this a unified decision. For families, the struggle of doing what their loved one would have wanted is a real concern. The family can rest assured things are exactly how you would have wanted them when items like the casket, urn, or burial vault are preselected. Your service or memorial can look and feel exactly how you want it to based on your selections. Things like music, readings, eulogies, and even that hideous dress you wouldn’t be caught dead in can be expressed to your family. Preplanning can take the hassle out of decision making while preventing your family from overspending.
selected for no additional money. Preplanning really is that simple. The money you prepay is placed in an insurance policy that is designated for your funeral services. The funeral home cannot access the funds until the death has occurred and the services have taken place. With this, your family does not have to come up with money out of their pocket, and you don’t have to worry about getting the services you want because no one has the funds needed to pay for it. If you do not have the financial means to pay your entire contract at once, you can spread your payments out over time in affordable monthly payments. Most funeral homes expect payment prior to the services, so your family will not have this luxury once you have died. In addition, if you are placed into a nursing home or a
Do you remember when you could buy a brand-new home in a great neighborhood for $85,000? What if you could have paid the builder for that home but built it 25 years later? Do you think they would go for that? No way! The cost of inflation would make that impossible! Well, that’s how pre-funding your funeral contract works. You pick and decide how everything will be while paying for it at today’s cost. Then, hopefully, many years down the road, we perform those same services and provide the merchandise you have
The County Woman’s Journal
long-term care facility, you do not have to worry about losing the money you have set aside for your services because it is protected from well-meaning third parties like Medicaid. If you preplan and prepay services with a funeral home and then later in life relocate, the arrangements you have made can move with you. Since it is still your money, you can take it where ever you wish. Should you die while away from home, there may be additional money available to your family to bring you back home. All in all, advance funeral planning does five things: • Spells out your wishes to reflect your life • Eliminates the emotional stress on your family of having to gather information and make decisions on the most
challenging days of their life • Gives you a safe and secure place to hold funds to pay for the services that you have selected • Saves you money over time by protecting you from inflation • Takes away the financial stress of your family, knowing that they can concentrate on their grief and supporting one another instead of worrying about how they are going to pay for your funeral Save your family the burden of having to make difficult decisions during the darkest time of their lives. Preplanning will be one of the greatest gifts you leave for them. DISCLAIMER: Not all funeral homes have the same policies for pre-funding of funeral contracts.
Considering Cremation?
Once these decisions are made, it all comes down to the big questions; how much will this cost, and how will I pay for it? As a starting point, it does not have to cost you anything right now. Preplanning your services does not mean you have to prepay your services. Pre-funding your funeral arrangements has many benefits for you and your family, so most people choose to prepay.

Social Distancing -Alone Together We are living in times that have never been experienced before. In the past century, there have been just four pandemics. The last one was in 1918. Life, as we know it has been put on hold. Events cancelled, school is now in a virtual landscape, and undoubtedly someone you know has been affected by this disaster. Thanks to modern technology, we are still able to connect with our friends and loved ones either through a Google hangout, Zoom, or House party. In dark times, it is more important than ever to be a beacon of hope for your friends and family. Families all over the nation are spending more time together than they have in years. With the absence of full calendars, practices and other after school activities, there is more time to connect. When this time passes (and it will) most of us will come out better for it; more spiritually connected and definitely closer to our loved ones. Although there is currently no vaccine to prevent COVID-19, the best way to prevent the spread is to avoid being exposed. Those who are in close contact with one another, usually within six feet, spread it from person to person. Respiratory droplets are produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. The droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly inhaled in the lungs. Another silver lining The County Woman Magazine

is that once you have contracted the virus it is unlikely you can get it a second time. Health officials have said that coronavirus antibodies are able to prevent a person who had the infection from getting it a second time. The best course of action at the present time is to minimize your chances of contacting the virus. We can do that in the following ways: • Washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after being in a public place. • You can use a hand sanitizer (if soap and water are not readily available) that contains at least 60% alcohol. • Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands • Sneeze into your elbow • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily – this includes doorknobs, light switches, keyboards, and phones.
It is easy to feel helpless during times like this. One way to alleviate those feelings are to try and help where you can and right now our nation is facing a major shortage in blood donations. Donating blood is essential to the health of a community and the need right now is dire. The Red Cross has expressed concern over future blood shortages. If you can, give blood so they can maintain a sufficient blood supply for the weeks to come. Never have we been given this respite from our daily schedules. The stress and anxiety from the unknowns can be daunting. Try and take some time for self-care and making yourself a priority during the days ahead.

ALLERGIES IN PETS Pets presenting for allergies and the resulting skin issues is a common problem in this geographical area. Allergies in both human and pets are sensitivities to things in the environment or food that may not be harmful, but for some reason the individual’s body may see it as such and mount an immune response. Histamines are released and systemic signs such as inflammation, swelling and itchiness begin. Allergies are very common in pets and can develop over time. Allergies tend to present as respiratory, dermatological issues or both. They can be seasonal or non-seasonal and acute or chronic. Humans are most familiar with respiratory allergies during certain seasons of the year and our pets can also be affected in the same ways. Typically pollen, trees, weeds, grass, mold and fungi cause respiratory allergies. The pet may suddenly develop red, watery, itchy eyes and “gun-fire” sneezing. This is uncomfortable for the pet and worrisome for the owner. Acute cases are usually treated with allergy medication or the offending cause is removed and the clinical signs disappear. If the clinical signs do continue, the pet may develop secondary issues such as respiratory infections, which may need to be treated with antibiotics. Though we tend to think of respiratory allergies as developing to sources outside the home, they may also develop to indoor substances such as laundry detergents, home fragrances,
candles, carpets etc. Also remember that homes are not airtight and outdoor air can enter and cause symptoms even in a pet kept completely indoors. Allergies that present as skin issues are a bit more complicated to manage. The pet usually presents to the veterinarian for the first time with a skin infection. The pet may be licking and chewing skin and paws or scratching, shaking and rubbing the ears. As pets are exposed to a variety of things both indoor and outdoor, the pet is usually treated and the symptoms ease. However if the pet’s skin/ears do not improve or the owner notices a seasonal aspect to the skin problems it is possible that allergies are involved.
may not have an actual allergy, but intolerance to certain proteins and ingredients in food. The symptoms seen with intolerance are mainly gastrointestinal in nature. Most owners will switch foods, but a food trial for allergies actually takes 4-6 weeks on a limited ingredient diet with no treats. Ingredients are then slowly added back in the diet until the culprit is discovered. This is labor intensive for the owner and intradermal or serum allergy testing will give an answer much more
quickly with less expense in the long run as pets may be allergic to more than one food item. Uncommon things that pets may be allergic to are dogs to cats (and vice versa), feathers, cigarette smoke, drugs, perfume, cleaning products, rubber and plastic. If you feel your pet has allergies, the best course of action is to see a veterinarian and discuss your pet’s individual health concerns.
Areas of the body most affected by skin allergies are paws, ears, eyes, the rectal area and the abdominal and inguinal areas. Since the pet is itchy, he or she will lick and chew until the skin barrier is broken and that is when a secondary bacterial or yeast infections can begin to affect the skin. In order to find out what the allergen(s) is, allergy testing is available. The gold-standard allergy testing is the intradermal test and is most commonly available through boarded veterinary dermatologists. There is also serum allergy testing which is done from the animal’s blood. Allergy testing is available for both environmental factors and food. Food allergies are less common than owners think, as the animal

Cathy Basenese
ReStore Manager, Sussex County Habitat for Humanity Cathy began her career with Sussex County Habitat for Humanity ReStore in April 2016. It quickly became clear that Cathy had found a second home in her role with ReStore. Over the years she has moved through the ranks beginning as a cashier at the original store in Georgetown, helping to relocate and set up the new store in Lewes as Project Manager which eventually led to her becoming the Lewes ReStore Manager, a position she takes very seriously. During what was a very tough year for everyone, Cathy somehow managed to do more with less; with reduced hours to the public and no volunteer participation for the past several months, she and her team of twelve employees were able to keep ReStore sales and morale strong. They cut the hours of public access to the ReStore to only six hours a day, five days a week. The staff used the additional hours of the day to manage the influx of donations and keep the store and its merchandise sanitized. They were able to continue curbside pickups and drop offs which helped strengthen sales. Sales were so strong, in fact, that the Lewes ReStore was able to use proceeds to build two new homes in Sussex County! You won’t find Cathy resting on her laurels; however, she’s constantly designing and facilitating innovative projects to help promote sales. Cathy attributes the success of ReStore to the staff, clients and amazing support from the community. It’s good to know that during these challenging times, a community can count on someone like Cathy and Cathy can count on her local community.

This makes a huge difference in how they do their job. With their support, we have more than tripled our business since 2009. We have spent the last 11 years creating a close-knit group of co-workers, friends, and family. They enjoy what they do and offer better service to you. Dust n Time donates Gift Certificates every year to support local charities, ASPCA, and churches. We try to give back to our community as we are very blessed and grateful for each and every client we have. We offer support for aging adults with Alzheimers and cancer. When sick, you cannot often find time or energy to clean. Knowing their home and possessions are taken care of, offers peace of mind they need.

Chris Rementer
Michelle Serrano is originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania her, She and her family moved to beautiful Sussex County Delaware in 2006. She began her employment with Always Best Care in December 2019.
Chris and his brother, Tony, started Budget Blinds back in 2005 and now they and their highly experienced staff cover the southern half of Delaware from just south of Dover on down and three counties in Maryland. Both he and his brother are native Sussex Countians in fact their family has been here for many generations and self employment was a model presented to them early with one grandfather an area farmer and the other owning a shoe shop just off the circle in Georgetown. Growing up in a close family, they were taught the virtues of love, grace, loyalty, and hard work. They were always taught to be accountable to one another, to work first, play later and if it’s worth doing, it is worth doing right. They carry those values into both their personal lives and in the business that they run.

Her years of experience in behavioral health care senior management has been helpful in managing the daily challenges of Home Health Care. Budget Blinds
After more than fifteen years of Budget Blinds they have acquired a great deal of knowledge about window coverings and running a business in general but they feel that one of their best assets is the desire to learn more and improve along the way. With only 10 full time employees, including the two of them, and one part time, they have nearly 70 years of experience when combined. That is a particular point of pride because they feel it is an indicator of what really makes a good company, which is employees that love what they do. They know that a person who is enjoying their job, will do it better and with more care. That leads to what Chris and Tony feel is their most important skill and that is choosing employees. “If we make sure our employees and our clients are happy, our happiness will always fall right in line.” says Chris. Chris is Married to his wife Julie who is a speech pathologist for a local elementary school and they have 2 boys, Gavin and Parker who are 12 and 10 respectively. He loves just being around his family, reading, golfing and fishing.

Photography
Picture This… C.M.Baker Photography Photography may have changed over the decades, but sharing photos is still something we do daily in our business and personal lives, and no matter how we’re using photos these days, they continue to bring smiles to our faces and help educate & inform us. We may not always remember everything that happened at an event; however we don’t have to worry about that because photos will always be a way to remind us about our life experiences, good times and cherished moments. The best and least stressful way to use photography at one of your events is to contact Mike Baker, with C.M. Baker Photography. When planning events there is already a lot to do, so you can take one thing off your list by letting Mike handle one of the most important parts of your celebration. This will take that stress off you, and allow you to focus on other things. By hiring Mike, you have several choices. You can use an indoor photo booth that
doesn’t take up a lot of space, but brings a lot of joy to any event. The black photo booth is only 5 feet by 5 feet being compact to fit any space, especially for smaller venues where space is a commodity. Mike also offers a white inflatable photo booth. This is decked out with lights and gives a more colorful flare to the classic photo booth. Or you could use the outdoor Shasta Shutterbug Photo Booths. The Shasta Shutterbugs are mostly used outside and can be used for an outdoor or indoor event (only if you have an 8ft x 8ft doorway). With much of the Sussex County and Eastern Shore Maryland having many wedding barns, it has become quite a wedding barn venue. The original Shasta I was a 1969 Compact Shasta Camper converted into a white decorative photo booth on wheels. The Shasta II is barn themed with a white barnwood interior. The Shasta II was a 1964 Shasta Compact Camper. Both Shasta’s provide added fun to your outdoor space, and will keep your guests coming back. All the booths print keepsake photo strips, provide customized props and are a wonderful opportunity for your guests to have a lot of fun and take photos home with them to share for many years to come. Plus, all photo strips are in color, and have customized text and designs to suit your event needs, and print in just a few
seconds. C.M. Baker Photography covers most of the Delmarva Peninsula going south and up to southern PA going north. In addition to the photo booths and Shasta’s taking the photos, Mike has been doing weddings for almost 30 years, and is one of the few wedding photographers that print out 8x10s at the wedding for all to view, and for the bride and groom to take home with them. Mike is also certified by the FAA for commercial license Part 107, and is able to do aerial images of homes for real estate companies, or anything else, and is now using a drone. With his extensive experience for close to 30 years, Mike is equipped to do onsite printing at events, and can do headshots for promotional purposes including news articles, social media, brochures and business cards. It doesn’t matter whether you have a corporate event, father-daughter dance, wedding, graduation, birthday, anniversary, or special needs. C.M. Baker has something for you to keep your memories alive, and keep you smiling for decades to come!

FOR LOVE IS IN THE HAIR SALON
As soon as you take your first step into this salon you are greeted with a warm smile and the feeling that you are a long time friend. Janet is so excited to work in creating the perfect color and style for you. She really listens and will give her professional opinion if you want a change in cut, or choice of color. If you are looking for a salon to feel peaceful and serene in, this is the place. Love is just not in the hair but permeates your whole experience. - Liz I moved to Delaware in July of 2020 and, obviously, one of my priorities was to find a new stylist. I tried a few other lovely ladies, but I just didn’t get the results I wanted. And then, I was referred to Janet at Love is in the Hair. And, just like that, I have found my perfect stylist! Janet took the time to talk to me, asked about my hair, my lifestyle, my likes and dislikes, how I styled my hair and what my goals were with my haircut. Then, after a few suggestions and my consent, she gave me the perfect cut! I quickly booked my next appointment. I also went back the following week to get the subtle highlights she suggested I “think about”. She couldn’t have been more right with her recommendations and I absolutely LOVE my hair! I highly recommend Janet. She is not just a talented stylist, but a truly lovely person. You won’t be disappointed! - Kim I was anxious about getting a lot cut off of my hair and Janet talked through everything with me to give me exactly what I wanted. She gave me so many hair tips and really took her time with my hair. - Ashley I haven’t had my haircut in years because it’s hard finding a stylist you trust. Janet was my stylist and did absolutely amazing. I could barely get my hair brush through my hair. About 3 1/2 inches later, lightweight, shiny, healthy hair. Highly recommended. - Madison Janet Charlsen was the first hair stylist that colored and cut my hair that I immediately liked. First time that I never came home and re-did my hair. She listens to what you like and don’t like. She gave me a few suggestions which I really liked. Very patient and kind. I am so happy that after two years I finally found a hair stylist that I love - Carol

Hummingbirds 101 A guide to the basics of understanding, attracting, and feeding hummingbirds Presented by Connie Marshall
If you love hummingbirds and want to attract them to your home, you will enjoy this concentrated collection of information! You may also wish to visit the website of the Hummingbird Society: www.hummingbirdsociety.org
Flowers
Flowers grown in a garden or in containers are nature’s hummingbird feeder. The right combination of wildflowers and exotic fl owers appropriate for your growing zone will attract hummingbirds, increase the number of small insects that hummingbirds require for their survival, and will bring beauty and interest to your garden. The ideal hummingbird flower contains nectar at the base of a single tubular flower; this shape and lack of fragrance discourages insect use. Hummingbirds need to feed every 15 minutes and may visit as many as 1,000 fl owers each day, so flowers need to be numerous and constantly regenerating. Red flowers are popular, but flowers of other colors also contain nectar and attract hummingbirds. Seek flowers with a long bloom period and make sure that a great hummingbird flower is in bloom at every point during your hummingbird season, especially during the spring and fall migration periods. Additionally, it is important to provide “cover” in the form of mature trees and thick shrubbery.
Some of the best and easiest to grow hummingbird flowers include: Lonicera sempervirens (Trumpet Honeysuckle) Red Monarda ‘Jacob Cline’(Bee Balm) Cuphea ‘David Verity’ Salvia guaranitica (Blue Anise Sage)
36 I Spring 2021
Salvia coccinea (Scarlet Sage) Agastache rupestris (Sunset Hyssop) Campsis radicans (Trumpet Creeper) Lobelia cardinalis (Cardinal Flower) Fuchsia triphylla (Honeysuckle Fuchsia) Malvaviscus arboreus var. drummondii (Turk’s Cap) Justicia spicigera(Mexican Honeysuckle) Ipomopsis rubra (Standing Cypress) Nicotiana mutabilis(Flowering Tobacco) Tecomaria capensis(Cape Honeysuckle) Salvia ‘Wendy’s Wish’ Canna indica (Wild Canna) Hamelia patens (Firebush) Erythrina herbacea (Coral Bean) Anisacanthis wrightii (Flame Acanthus)
Feeders
Type: The best feeder is one you are able and
willing to clean. If the feeder ports are above the pool of liquid there is less tendency to drip, a messy problem that attracts ants.
Size: Use a feeder whose size matches your
population. Don’t fi ll it upif all the nectar isn’t being used. Several small feeders are better thanone large feeder and will support more hummers, helping deal with territoriality.
Recipe: Dissolve 1 cup table sugar (cane
preferred, beet is OK) in 4 cups water. Do not use any other sugar— not turbinado, brown sugar, etc.—and never use honey or artifi cial sweeteners. Spring water is best, but most tap water is OK; don’t use distilled water.

Home Is More Important Than Ever: Why You Need an Experienced Real Estate Agent
Our local real estate market is robust and moving faster than ever. Low interest rates coupled with the pandemic have presented opportunities for adults to work from home and the necessity for children to learn at home. Families are moving from more crowded urban and suburban areas to less crowded spaces like those we have in Sussex County. They also realize that working from home can mean working at the beach!
represent you if you are considering purchasing new construction. They will protect your best interests. The right agent will give you the confidence to sail the waters of Delaware real estate with ease.
Homeowners sometimes find that the home that was once perfect for them no longer meets their needs. Do they now need a home office? Home schooling space? Room for a home theater? Inventory of homes for sale is lower than the demand, making multiple offers on available properties more common. Whether you’re selling or hoping to purchase a home, it’s very important to have a real estate agent who is experienced with competitive markets and multiple offer situations. An agent experienced in these scenarios will provide an advantage for their clients. They will be able to ensure their sellers understand the advantages and potential pitfalls in the various offers and will help their buyers position both themselves and their offers to be successful. These negotiations specifically benefit from the experience, knowledge and skills that the right agent brings.
Guiding You Home
My years of experience selling real estate in Montclair and Glen Ridge, NJ – very desirable and competitive NYC suburbs – has served my clients well. Multiple bid situations were the norm, rather than the exception, in these towns.
As a REALTOR, I work diligently for my clients. Coldwell Banker Realty is equally committed to my clients’ well-being. Here at Coldwell Banker, we thank our Veterans with our Military Rewards rebate and, be sure to ask about our exclusive AARP membership rebate!
A real estate agent’s single biggest responsibility is to represent you – to be your go-to ally and expert. It’s good to know that your real estate agent can and should
If you want my decades of experience in your corner, please give me a call. As your real estate agent, I promise to make your well-being my top priority!
I was introduced to Terry through a referral and we began working together right before the pandemic began and continued for the next 6 months. Needless to say, it was during an unprecedented, challenging, and uncharted time in history. Terry guided me and helped me find, and purchase, a piece of property and chose the home I began building in a beautiful development that fit me perfectly. Sadly, the sale of my DC home fell through and so did the purchase of the home I was building. So, Terry and I had to begin the search process again. She showed me countless homes all over Lewes. In the end, I was able to purchase the home I was originally building for the second time. Needless to say, it was an emotional roller coaster ride and the process was filled twists and turns and many roadblocks. Terry was the perfect agent to work with especially considering my challenging situation. Terry is very knowledgeable, available, kind, and extremely patient. She did not push me, rush me, and took my needs and dreams into consideration. Terry truly cared that I ended up with my dream home and helped me make that a reality - twice. She is not only a great agent but a great person with great integrity. I hope you have the pleasure of working with Terry too! You can’t go wrong. - Stacey Proctor

Law
Frontline Worker Illness and Exposure in the time of COVID- Delaware Worker’s Compensation Law Heather Long is proud to be the first female Partner in the Newark office of Kimmel, Carter, Roman, Peltz & O’Neill, P.A., a Delaware personal injury and workers’ compensation firm. As the first female Partner in the law firm’s history, Heather has advanced diversity, which enables her to better serve her clients and injured workers in the State of Delaware. Licensed since 2005, Ms. Long’s practice is focused on assisting plaintiffs with workers’ compensation, personal injury, nursing home negligence, medical malpractice, and premises liability claims. For more information, or to schedule a free consultation, please call her directly at 302-565-6132 or e mail Heather at Hlong@kimmelcarter.com.
By Heather A. Long, Esquire Nurses, therapists, medical technicians and other healthcare workers put their own health on the line every day as they care for their patients. This statement was put to the ultimate test over the last several months in the setting of COVID-19, as the frontline workers who we count on to take care of us began to fall ill themselves. This makes us examine who is caring for these caregivers. In response to the COVID crisis as it applies to frontline workers, they are protected by workers’ compensation benefits just like every other Delaware worker. The problem arises, however, that currently frontline workers are held to the same standards of proof that the injury occurred in the course and scope of their employment. This means that these frontline workers, who put everything on the line for their community, their neighbors, their peers have to PROVE that they contracted COVID while at work and not in some other manner. This concept is disgraceful and unjust, but for right now it’s all we have.
Heather’s Daughter, Jordyn
If you are injured at work, particularly if you work in the healthcare field or are a frontline worker, immediate and accurate documentation regarding the COVID trace contacts is absolutely necessary. In order to make sure that your occupational disease is properly documented, I highly recommend: 1. that you inform your supervisor in writing about your injury; and 2. consult with an attorney to ensure that you will receive all the benefits to which you are entitled. I offer free consultations with no attorney’s fee to be paid until your case is settled. This gives you the peace of mind you need in order to focus on the most important thing- your health.
As of July, fourteen states have enacted or amended their workers’ compensation laws to provide a legal presumption that certain COVID positive frontline workers contracted the virus while in the course and scope of their work. Delaware is not one of those fourteen states and therefore, COVID positive frontline workers here in the First State must still PROVE that they contracted the virus at work. Not only must Delaware workers prove when, where and how they contracted COVID, but as COVID can be considered an “occupational disease” the Statute of Limitations to file this claim has been cut in half from 2 years to 1 year AND you must notify your employer within 6 months of when you discover (or should have discovered) that your occupational disease is connected to your work activities. The unfairness of these stringent reporting requirements and burden of proof that is placed upon our Delaware frontline workers is nothing short of tragic. As with every other aspect of healthcare, documentation and tracking is key to proving that the frontline worker became infected through their work activities. Therefore, it is necessary to inform your supervisor and document the illness right away. Ask your supervisor to fill out a “First Report of Injury” and give you a copy. Also, make a note of any contacts with other COVID positive persons through your work activities, including names, dates and the nature of the interaction. If you are lucky enough to have your workers’ compensation occupational disease claim accepted by the insurance company, you may be entitled to benefits including medical expenses, wage replacement, mileage reimbursement, permanent impairment and disfigurement compensation.

Top Reasons Small Businesses Should Hire a Social Media Manager Mike, Trisha & Arianna Fox SPLASH DESIGNWORKS • Ideas That Work
Analytics? Algorithms? Target market? Social listening? Social media marketing? Social media advertising? Content marketing? Hashtags? The world of social media management can be a confusing place! Especially for small business owners who are trying to reach their audiences in the ever-changing environment of social media. .
Advertising is not what it used to be. Long gone are the days when businesses could just put out their advertising and just expect their audiences to receive it and respond. Now audiences want to be entertained, inspired, educated, and informed. They don't want brands shouting sales opportunities at them - they want brands that engage them in the conversation. They want to know your story. They want to know you are listening to their feedback, and responding to their needs. They want brands that educate, are experts in their fields, and are willing to share helpful insights, information, how-to’s and more.
Who has time? One of the biggest benefits and top reasons for a small business to hire a social media manager is because it saves you time. Time is one of the most valuable resources for a small business owner. Social media management takes time, and lots of it! Especially if you want to manage your social media accounts effectively and to get the most potential out of using social media for your business. Between creating posts and scheduling them to be posted at the most effective time, to creating the right kind of posts, to super-targeting your ads to reach your ideal clients or fans, all the way to social media listening and monitoring, social media management just takes time. Fortunately, when you hire a social media manager, they do the work for you and save you time. This allows you as the small business owner to use your valuable time to do what you do best: the managing and running of your company. An article from cnbc.com titled “Yes, You Can Buy Happiness...If You Spend it to Save Time” says: “People who dole out cash to save time on things like housekeeping, delivery services and taxis are a little bit happier than those who don’t, new research finds. “Researchers surveyed more than 6,000 people in four countries and also ran an experiment,” it continued, “giving people $40 for two weeks. One week, they had to buy something material, like a shirt. The next week, they paid to save themselves time. People said they felt happier after saving time than buying stuff.”
To hire or not to hire a Social Media Manager. As a small business owner, you're probably already aware that you need to be active on social media because that's where a lot of your potential clients and fan base are on a daily basis, and it's where you should be as well. The question is, should you manage your own social media accounts or should you hire a professional to manage your accounts for you? Social media management takes time, and lots of it! Especially if you want to manage your social media accounts effectively and to get the most potential out of using social media for your business.

Through all those years, Cathy’s leadership was not about trying to understand the driving forces of economic change - it was about understanding what drives people, period. How does one come to understand his or her intrinsic greatness? How do individuals learn to step out on a dream and act for their better lives, to revel in the thrill of expressing that greatness housed inside? Cathy Wilkes knows this answer. It’s the beautiful human warmth and light of what she does. Now a coach and consultant, Cathy Wilkes guides her clients to unique clarity and renewed sense of mission and purpose. Your Health While Living In A Sea of EMFs
By Sue Bennett
W
e live in a sea of EMFs; smart meters, cell towers, cell phones, satellites, laptops, microwaves, all pulsing EMFs constantly through our body. Our body is made up of billions of electrically charged
cells and tissues which can be measured as an electric voltage. Our organs like our heart, brain, mitochondria, and nervous system are electrical.
• Autoimmune reactions, Fibromyalgia, Candida
The cell’s voltage is an electrical “snapshot “of its health. Cells that measure high voltage are healthy with good immune function. Cells that measure low voltage are dysfunctional and are seen in people who are ill with poor immune and/or chronic medical conditions.
• Poor energy, chronic fatigue
We are all living in a Sea of EMFs! Everyone should consider some form of protection and mitigation!
Possible detrimental health effects from EMFs • Frequent infections due to immunosuppression
• Cancer, brain tumors, leukemia in children and adults • Headaches, insomnia • Asthma, respiratory allergies • Low sperm count, fertility problems in both sexes • Brain fog, inability to concentrate, poor memory recall • Increased appetite, cravings for sweets, stimulants • Anxiety, panic attacks, depression, irritability • Hyperactivity • Chromosome, DNA damage The key to EMF protection is to make sure your cellular voltage is kept high!

From a master bedroom where both light control and privacy are paramount, to a kitchen in need of a stylish, yet practical window treatment, there is a perfect window covering for every room in your home!
Living and Family Rooms
Kitchen
As your kitchen is the heart of activity in the home, it’s no surprise that choosing window treatments that are both highly functional and stylish can become a challenge. Faux wood blinds and composite shutters offer added durability and are ideal for high-humidity rooms like kitchens. They resist cracking, fading, and warping from stovetops and ovens. Cellular (honeycomb) shades, which let soft, natural light in, are an excellent solution for retaining privacy. To protect your kitchen’s interior from harmful UV rays, try pleated Roman shades, which also add an elegant, sophisticated design accent.
Friends and family gather here daily, so why not make them say “wow” when they see your beautiful window coverings. From artisan-inspired wood shutters to elegant Roman shades, find the perfect finishing that will generate compliments for years to come. From layering versatile shades with drapery panels, to making a design statement with the perfect valance, it’s easy to create the look you’ve always wanted.
cause many inferior types of window coverings to warp or fade. Interior shutters, shades and blinds are right at home in your bathroom environment. Quality blinds are made with highquality components in the headrail to prevent rusting, and moisture-friendly composite shutters are designed to resist fading and warping over time. For an elegant look, consider pairing fabric shades in a distinctive print or pattern with drapery panels. Cellular shades are another popular window treatment for bathrooms since they offer both a view and privacy.
Bedroom
Bathroom
A stylish and well-dressed bathroom is a trend worth joining. Since the bathroom is inherently a highmoisture and humidity area, it may
For restful, tranquil sleep, turn your bedroom into the perfect retreat with an amazing array of choices of window treatments and designer accents. As a room that’s often forgotten because few people see it, we sometimes don’t take the time to update or design our bedroom. From stylish shades and draperies in the latest patterns and fabrics, updated and highly functional designs can
dress your bedroom with window treatments that give you a great night’s sleep. A great recommendation involves pairing bedroom drapes with honeycomb shades for an extra layer of insulation and comfortable temperatures for sleeping. Want to sleep in or just need it extra dark in the baby’s room, consider a room darkened solution to extend the darkness well into the morning hours. You may also consider modern and trendy roller shades.
Still not sure where to start?
You’re not alone. Now that you have some ideas, it is a great time to call in the experts. A reputable custom window provider will help you understand the pros and cons of each treatment choice. Oftentimes, a look can be subtly carried from one room to the next, even if color pallets change and the function is completely different. Of course, there is new technology to consider as well. You could optimize both safety and convenience with a touch of a button from motorized and/or home automation solutions— the sky’s the really limit! Find a reputable vendor like Budget Blinds to walk you through each room. Even if your ideas are not fully thought out, this is what we’re here for. Good luck and enjoy your updated look!

This pediatric dental practice is everything. Starting out with the amazing greetings from the receptionist. Extremely clean and kid friendly. Both dentists are AMAZING! They cater to our every need, no matter the time. They are professionals and speak fluent Spanish, which is a major plus. My kids love them. Switching from another practice was the best choice I ever made.
By far, one of the most professional and kind pediatric dentists I have ever encountered. The entire staff went above and beyond to make sure my children were taken care of, and most of all, went out of their way to make my babies feel comfortable. Highly recommend Delaware Pediatric Dentistry. They are the absolute best!
