For decades eyewear designers around the world have tried taming nature’s luxury, the gorgeous but unruly buffalo horn. Our take on this challenge features an ultrathin horn front, hand-polished to bring out Mother Nature’s exquisite colour patterns, combined with lightweight, adjustable titanium temples. The LINDBERG buffalo horn frames are stripped of any unnecessary material, such as screws, rivets or soldering – leaving a clean-cut, neat design, addictive to us Danes.

We combine 152 in-house processes to finish each buffalo horn frame. It’s a complex matter, making minimalist Danish design. We take pride in our Danish workshop, where superior craftsmanship and advanced technology go hand in hand. As a testimony to true customisation, we engrave your name discreetly on the inside of the temple. Our buffalo horn collection has been awarded 9 international design prizes so far, making a total of 90 prizes for all our collections during the past 25 years. We carefully select our exclusive circle of LINDBERG buffalo horn dealers which we continuously train to personalise your buffalo horn eyewear. They help you choose the frame that suits you the best, and they find the right temple length and nose pad design for your face. Finally they adjust the frame perfectly for your personal comfort.

When explorers roamed the oceans, the torpilleur was the captain’s watch – a pocket chronometer which was the mark of his rank both onshore and off. Today’s urban explorers prefer to captain their own destiny. For them, we present our new Torpilleur: at once casual, elegant and resolutely modern. Quality without compromise.

LOUISIANA MUSEUM OF MODERN ART Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is situated in Denmark on the North Zealand coast in a spacious, old park with a fine view across the sound of Sweden. It houses an exquisite collection of modern and contemporary art by international artists and is continually expanded. For this reason, besides individual features that are almost always on view – such as the Giacometti Gallery, the Kusama Installation, and the Powerless Structure by Elmgreen and Dragset in the Panorama Room - the bulk of the collection is shown in selected, curated presentations.

Gammel Strandvej 13 DK-3050 Humlebæk Tel: +45 4919 0719 www.louisiana.dk

Every year, the Louisiana Museum shows approx 8 major exhibitions of modern and contemporary art, including classical masters of modern art as well as new and upcoming international artists. Louisiana is not merely an experience in modern and contemporary art, but a congenial reflection of the interplay between art, architecture and landscape.

66

The park serves as an ideal setting for displaying the museum’s collection of modern sculptures. Similarly the prominent museum buildings, constructed between 1958 and 1998, offer a fascinating background for the permanent collection of twentieth century art.

ARKEN Kun 20 kilometer syd for København ligger ARKEN Museum for Moderne Kunst.

ARKEN Only 20 kilometres south of Copenhagen lies ARKEN, Denmark’s newest museum of modern art. Søren Robert Lund is the architect behind the distinctive building, which has risen on the water’s edge in Køge Bugt Beach Park since the opening in 1996. As suggested by the name, the building was designed as a metaphor for a ship, and the maritime architecture and the museum identity revolve around the location. In 2016, the sea moved even closer and an old dream of creating an “art island” became a reality. Now, lagoons, bridges, dunes and coastal vegetation, along with an expanding sculpture park, create an informal and magnificent setting for the ARKEN museum. ARKEN offers world-class art. Each year the museum puts on 7 or 8 different exhibitions of modern Danish, Nordic and international art. The collection mainly consists of contemporary art. ARKEN also houses one of Europe’s most important collections from the renowned British artist Damien Hirst as well as a spectacular work by Chinese artist Wi Weiwei. Combine a visit to ARKEN with a family day out at the beach, a walk in the Beach Park or a cup of coffee in ARKEN CAFÉ, which offers a stunning view of the ocean.

THE MUSEUM OF NATIONAL HISTORY AT FREDERIKSBORG CASTLE Art, culture and history is gathered at king Christian 4.s renaissance castle, which is one of Copenhagen suburban’s finest museums. A tour of Frederiksborg Castle’s many beautiful rooms is a journey through 500 years of Danish history. The story is told through portraits, paintings, furniture and decorative arts and on your way you will meet kings, queens, nobles, bourgeois, all of which have helped to shape Denmark’s history and development from the middle ages to the 21st century. The extravagant renaissance building with its many spires and towers were built by king Christian 4. In 1859 there was a fire that destroyed much of the castle’s interior, but you can still find chambers that tell the story of the king’s castle. The Chapel and the Audience Chamber survived the fire and the two rooms, one from the renaissance and the other from the baroque, are some of Denmark’s finest preserved royal interiors.

Frederiksborg Castle is beautifully situated on three small islets in the castle lake of the town of Hillerød just north of Copenhagen. Frederiksborg Castle was constructed by King Christian IV during the first decades of the seventeenth century and is the largest Renaissance edifice in the Nordic region. It was designed to accentuate the king’s position as a powerful Northern European monarch. The castle in all its opulence is rich in magnificent detail and craftsmanship. A visit offers a close-up experience of the regal pomp and ceremony of the past. With its fairytale location in the middle of the lake, surrounded by the Baroque garden and landscaped parkland, Frederiksborg Castle is a unique destination that offers great cultural experiences, leafy walks and sailing trips.

500 YEARS OF DANISH HISTORY The Museum of National History has been housed at Frederiksborg Castle since 1878. The museum was established by the founder of the Carlsberg Breweries, J.C. Jacobsen, after the castle had been razed by a massive fire in 1859. The museum is still managed as an independent department of the Carlsberg Foundation. Wandering through the museum’s many beautiful chambers is a journey through 500 years of Danish history, narrated by the rich collection of portraits, historical paintings, furniture and decorative art. These stories are further supported by the castle’s scenic heritage surroundings. At the museum, you can learn about the people and events that helped shape Danish history from the Middle Ages to the twenty-first century. The museum’s fine period interiors and the magnificent splendour of the castle offer sensuous impressions of the changing styles and customs of the times. The museum’s portrait collection constitutes the largest and most significant in the nation, which along with the collections of busts, drawings and photographs is constantly being expanded with new works. The museum organises annual exhibitions that spotlight history painting, portraiture and other of the collection’s artistic genres from new angles. The museum is open all year long!

SLOTSHAVERNE

THE CASTLE GARDENS Frederiksborg Castle was completed by the addition of landscaped gardens. King Christian IV had his own garden designed. But in 1720, J. Krieger was commissioned to create a new Baroque terrace garden, which was restored in the 1990s. The lowest plateaus feature four boxwood royal monograms, representing the four Danish monarchs that have ruled Denmark since the park was created: King Frederik IV, King Frederik V, King Christian VI, and the current monarch, Queen Margrethe II. The Baroque garden, however, is not the only castle garden. To the left of the Baroque garden lies a romantic, English-inspired parkland, where also the small manor, Badstueslottet, is located. With its small lakes and bush gardens, the romantic parkland was created to convey emotional sentiment and represent the beauty of nature. In contrast, the Baroque garden with its straight lines and sharp edges seeks to showcase the beauty of human control over nature.

Next February, the ARKEN Museum of Modern Art will open a major retrospective of works by one of the greatest masters of Art Nouveau, namely Czech artist Alphonse Mucha, whose beautiful ornamental posters celebrate nature and beauty and enchanted the city of Paris around 1900. The delicate lines, organic shapes and visual power of Art Nouveau drew their vibrant characteristics from *Le Style Mucha* with which this movement became synonymous. Mucha and Art Nouveau marked a new seismic shift in the relationship between aesthetics and consumer culture that paved the way for the total aestheticization of everyday life that culminates in our current era.

128

ART NOUVEAU AND FIN DE SIÈCLE Art Nouveau – new art – is linked to modernity and to metropolitan life of the twentieth century. The style refers to the experimental art that flourished in Paris from 1890-1910 and which included crafts, architecture, design and dance. During these years, Paris was a magnet for young artists and students from all over the world – also for the young Czech painter Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939). It was a time of new technological achievements, burgeoning mass production, major cultural changes and a new metropolitan atmosphere that permeated the city’s artist studios, salons, theatres, cafés and boutique arcades. Driven by a belief in the transformative power of beauty, the young Art Nouveau artists strove towards the ‘everydayization’ of art. Aesthetics should reach out to the people, and the commercial sphere became the avenue by which this was achieved. Hand in hand with the expanding spheres of consumerism and entertainment, Art Nouveau took over the Parisian streetscape with posters, advertisements, metro design and architecture – and Alphonse Mucha became the veritable ‘chief designer’ of the new metropolis of the times.

LE STYLE MUCHA

LE STYLE MUCHA Alphonse Mucha experienced his artistic breakthrough in 1894 when he was tasked with designing a poster for a performance of *Gismonda* starring the famous Parisian actress Sarah Bernhardt. The poster was printed exceptionally large and defined a new graphic style inspired by the backdrop of decorative Byzantine mosaic and palette of dimmed, balanced pastels – and by the stoic image of Bernhardt crowned by a halo-like orchid wreath and holding a palm leaf in her hand. This graceful and mythical poster became such a resounding success that it made Mucha famous overnight. On 1 January 1895, when *Gismonda* adorned all poster columns throughout the metropolis, the Parisians woke to a new cityscape. A flurry of commissions followed, and Alphonse Mucha designed and decorated books, magazines, objects, jewellery, and stores – everything that related to the new consumer life. What characterises the art of Alphonse Mucha are images of women immersed in a flow of undulating botanical motifs that swirl together with their rolling hair in spiritual harmony. This distinctive sensual style won an international following and became known as *Le Style Mucha*. Through poetic interplay, Mucha assigned each design an aura of exclusivity, glamour and luxury. He strove to promote a new, modern sensibility by allowing design and decoration to flow into every corner of the city, every living room, and every single human cell. Alphonse Mucha found inspiration in theosophy, which he discussed and nurtured with artist friends Paul Gauguin and August Strindberg. Theosophy links religion and philosophy with the goal of achieving an elevated level of spiritual awareness. Mucha’s art philosophy builds on the ideas of theosophy, but additionally assigns to art, nature and beauty a unique potential of acquired wisdom. By aestheticizing everyday life, Mucha sought to enlighten and heal our modern, metropolitan existence.

MUCHA IN FULL BLOSSOM AT ARKEN Alphonse Mucha’s art is fantastic and functional, material and spiritual, romantic and future-seeking. The exhibition at ARKEN sheds light on the many connections between nature and metropolis, consumption and beauty in Mucha’s artistic oeuvre through posters, photos, decorations, objects and jewellery. The ambiguous, sensual female figures in Mucha’s art represent a series of seismic changes in gender roles, which the exhibition will examine. The exhibition illustrates how Mucha’s staged photographs, which are a major part of the artist’s sketch material, form the basis of the theatrical motifs in his art. The exhibition takes a leap forward to the 1960s hippie movement, which drew inspiration from the utopian impulse and spiritual power of Alphonse Mucha’s mind-expanding universe, which is evident in the artwork of psychedelic rock posters and album covers of the time. A bombardment of sensuality and beauty awaits at the ARKEN Museum of Modern Art in 2018.

THE NEW AVENTADOR S ROADSTER. BREATHTAKING PERFORMANCE WITH OPEN-AIR SOPHISTICATION The Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster combines the unmistakable design of the Aventador S with the emotive experience of open-air driving. Alongside class-leading performance figures, the roadster’s unique status is enhanced by multiple colour and trim options, including new materials and extensive use of carbon fibre as well as virtually limitless potential through the Lamborghini personalisation program. The rear window is at the push of a button for drivers wanting to hear the beat of the V12 powerhouse. While closed during roofless driving, the window minimises cabin noise and airflow. An engine bridge runs from the rear window in a mix of body colour and matt black bonnet blades. A transparent option is also available to show off the V12 engine within. “The new Aventador S Roadster sets new benchmarks in technology and performance on both road and track, with the roadster version adding a new dimension in driving enjoyment,” says Lamborghini Chairman and CEO, Stefano Domenicali.

TWENTY YEARS OF DIAMONDS

139

THE MAGAZINE NO. 33

THE MAGAZINE NO. 33

Twenty years ago, Hartmann’s jewellery store on Bredgade in Copenhagen embarked on a diamond adventure, both commercially and personally. Over the years, the business has enjoyed a turnover of almost a billion Danish kroner, and this success is partly borne by Ulrik Hartmann’s lifelong passion for diamonds and his substantial international network. “When I started Hartmann’s 20 years ago, I had not dreamed that the journey that would shape Hartmann’s and my life – ‘a life of diamonds’ – would be so exciting, and that time would fly so fast. The dream already began to take shape when I started at the auction house Nellemann & Thomsen at the age of sixteen. I was deeply fascinated by the historical perspective of diamonds, drawn by their radiance and magic. One might say that I had found my calling. It became the start of Hartmann’s, which I opened at the age of 26. The assortment initially mainly consisted of Danish silver, but slowly a jewellery store developed to offer a blend of beautiful vintage and classic diamond jewellery.” The success accelerated and Ulrik Hartmann developed a penchant for pink diamonds, which today are considered some of the world’s most expensive diamonds due to their extreme rarity. “In 2008, Hartmann’s was appointed as an Argyle Pink Select Atelier, one of just three such jewellers in Europe. The title offers the opportunity to trade pink diamonds directly from the Argyle mine in Australia, and not least to be one of the approx. 150 jewellers worldwide invited to bid at the annual auction of pink diamonds – the Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender. Pink diamonds have found a very good following among women in Denmark, who desire beautiful classic jewellery and appreciate an added ‘twist’ of something individual and personal. Pink diamonds represent discreet and understated luxury – and it’s the colour of love!”

141

THE MAGAZINE NO. 33

142

Unfortunately, this all comes with an expiration date, because the mine is estimated to close in just 4-5 years’ time. So, although the Argyle mine produces 90 percent of the world’s pink diamonds, there are not enough with a deep and intense pink hue to match the increasing demand. This, on the other hand, has also ensured an expanding business for Ulrik Hartmann. “Auction prices for pink diamonds with intense colour constantly reach new record heights. It’s a market reminiscent of the art market – there are no list prices, and good deals are made on the basis of years of experience and high market knowledge. With a minimal supply, due to the closure of the Argyle mine in the next few years, it will become even more lucrative to be the owner of these pink investment diamonds.” The Argyle mine’s coloured diamonds span a broader palette than pink diamonds – and more down-to-earth prices. In total, 40 percent of the mine’s production is ‘fancy brown’ – i.e. champagne-coloured as well as cognac and chocolate – which can be purchased at about half the price of what classic white diamonds cost. “In the spring of 2017, I was the first Dane to ever visit the Argyle mine. The remote scenic landscape of East Kimberley dates back several billion years. Here, the early formations of the planet appear in all their raw simplicity and with colour impressions that overwhelmed me. All these beautiful colours are expressed in the myriad of diamond hues deep below ground, which is why it is quite natural that my twentieth anniversary collection, launched in September at a major celebratory event for our customers and friends of the house, was called Hartmann’s Argyle Champagne – a tribute to the mine and the nature that have given us these wonders. Each diamond in the collection is handpicked from the Argyle mine.”

TEA THROUGH 180 YEARS Tea was one of the most important products traded at the end of the 18th century and many merchants established and obtained their goods from docking ships at Christianshavn in Copenhagen. Among these merchants was Niels Brock Perch the founder of A.C. Perch´s Tea Shop. The idea was to sell the best teas from all over the world and today this is still our most important task. Seven generations of tea merchants have owned the family business and the historical tea shop hasn´t changed much in 180 years. Today you can choose between 175 different kinds of tea in the shop and the Tearoom offers you the traditional afternoon tea with delicious scones, petit four cakes and small finger sandwiches. A lovely place to take a break.

A PIECE OF DANISH HISTORY

STORMAGASINET MAGASIN FEJRER I 2018 150 ÅR MED DET YPPERSTE INDEN FOR MODE, LIVSSTIL OG FORKÆLELSE

THE MAGASIN DEPARTMENT STORE CELEBRATES 150 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE IN FASHION, LIFESTYLE AND LUXURY As you approach the Magasin department store on Kongens Nytorv in Copenhagen, the impressive sand-coloured edifice emerges with all its rich, French-inspired details reminiscent of Le Bon Marché in Paris. The department store exudes history. When opening the glass doors, it isn’t hard to imagine how uniformed doormen early last century would welcome customers as they entered this grand establishment, which to this day always surprises with its range of temptations that bring a smile and tingling sense of excitement to customers. The story of Magasin began in 1868 in Denmark’s second-largest city, Aarhus, where two businessmen named Wessel and Vett opened their first store in an old pharmacy. Two years later, Magasin’s second store opened on Kongens Nytorv in Copenhagen, grandly situated across from the Royal Danish Theatre. The business opened on the ground floor of the then Hôtel du Nord, which Magasin later took over and demolished to expand its business; a hotel where Danish poet Hans Christian Andersen enjoyed spending the night, tired after a full day of penning his fairytales. Magasin is not just a department store but a piece of Danish history. For 150 years, Magasin has stood tall, led by people with an eye for emerging trends and who could set the course of business accordingly. They have created the store you see today. And yes, Magasin always offers the latest in food, fashion, housewares and beauty – but it also represents a destination where people meet, are inspired and expand their horizons.

To år efter åbnede Magasins anden forretning: På Kgs.

HOT NEWS FROM THE SALON One aspect that seriously put Magasin on the map of discerning ladies in central Copenhagen – and the rest of the Danish nation – early last century was Magasin du Nord Modelsalon. The fashion salon was founded in 1913 in the Magasin store on Kongens Nytorv, where, from its opening and until 1976, a small dedicated team of nimble-fingered seamstresses would create evening gowns and costumes (inspired by French designers) for the cream of society from near and far. From the 1920s until 1960, the Modelsalon was headed by Ejnar Engelbert, who had a sure eye for the whims of fashion and was eminent at pleasing the salon’s customers. They could always count on the latest trends from the centre of fashion – Paris – to which Engelbert and his right hand, Madame Magda, would travel twice annually in the 1950s. Here they attended fashion shows at such reputable houses as Dior, Lanvin, Balmain and Givenchy. Christian Dior visited the Modelsalon in 1957 where during a private presentation he admired the model, the Norwegian beauty Miss Ellen Rishovd, and exclaimed, “How beautiful you are!” Attending a show in Paris gave the Modelsalon the right to acquire a single pattern of a gown from a fashion house as well as a label bearing its name. The Modelsalon could thus sew and sell one Dior model per season made to the original pattern. The other creations at the Modelsalon were presented as gowns inspired by the French fashion houses. These gowns were created from the drawings that Madame Magda made during the shows and which she would submit to her sewing workshop in Copenhagen.

BOUCHERON IN COPENHAGEN SINCE 2014 The Hartmann’s jewellery store in Bredgade is the exclusive purveyor of Boucheron jewellery in Scandinavia. The prestigious jewellery brand has been welcomed by the Scandinavian audience, not least the timeless and minimalist QUATRE collection. QUATRE The QUATRE collection was launched in 2004 and represents everything we currently associate with the Boucheron brand: accomplished design, exceptional craftsmanship and not least plenty of references to Paris, Place Vendôme and Frédéric Boucheron’s own personal story. Four distinct parts are recurrent in the jewellery, each with a strong symbolic reference. With its simplicity and gravity of quality, the Boucheron style is spellbinding. French jewellery meets Scandinavian timelessness. “With its simplicity and gravity of quality, the Boucheron style is spellbinding. French jewellery meets Scandinavian timelessness.” Ulrik Hartmann

ABOUT VINTAGE A CLASSIC DANISH ADVENTURE A minimalist Scandinavian approach, high quality and unique details are the hallmarks of the most popular wristwatches from About Vintage. Since the Danish watch brand entered the market in 2015, it has not only taken Denmark by storm, but also the world. The popular watch brand was founded by childhood friends Sebastian Skov and Thomas Andersen. Their great passion for wristwatches and the desire to design timepieces of excellent craftsmanship and classic design are the cornerstones of About Vintage. The vision of creating an affordable dream watch – or a stand-in for the watch deposited in your safety box – has been very successful. About Vintage not only seeks to sell a story but to design timepieces where the customers themselves create the history. Their fast-growing success is attributed to the passionate design approach and, not least, the thorough process of finding the right materials. Sebastian Skov and Thomas Andersen do not compromise on quality. Earlier this year, their first collection of Swiss Made mechanical wristwatches was launched, and they are now also ready with a whole new unisex collection. About Vintage has opened their first flagship store. Entirely in line with their watch design and love of history, the store has opened at Gothersgade 97 just opposite the King’s Garden in Copenhagen – one of the oldest and most beautiful parklands in Denmark.

About Vintage har åbnet deres første flagship-store.

UNCUT CHIC Maya Bjørnsten, owner of Roughdiamonds.dk in Denmark, admits that before she came across her company’s namesake gemstone, her talent as a jewellery designer had lain largely dormant. It was a chance encounter – a look through some of her husband’s photographs of uncut natural diamonds taken in Antwerp, the capital of the world’s diamond trade – that sparked what would become a deep passion. Maya immediately tried to source a piece of jewellery made from rough diamonds, and discovered that there were precious few available. So she set about making her own. “There are few people in the world with access to rough diamonds. My clients benefit from the fact that I’m one of them and can acquire diamonds of different shapes and characteristics,” says Maya. “Every stone is unique,” she continues. “And in their uncut, unpolished state they exhibit a raw beauty. They are as Mother Nature created them.” Maya handpicks every one of the diamonds she uses – all of which are of gem quality, which makes up only 20 percent of the diamonds in trade. She then considers the design, sometimes over a matter of months. “The diamond itself is my inspiration,” she explains. “The design has to showcase its beauty. When you cut and polish stone, you take away its unique story. Even its colour tells a tale – green, yellow and the rarer pink and blue stones are all created depending on the elements that were present when the stone came into being.” Uniqueness is key to each of Maya’s pieces. She carefully designs the housing for every one of her rings, pendants, necklaces, bracelets or cufflinks using white gold or yellow gold. “I go by their natural form,” she says. “These stones speak to you, and I can see that with my clients. They pick up a particular ring and say ‘this is the one’.” Once Maya has completed her design, diamond setters and goldsmiths set about making it real. And the designer insists on only working with highly experienced artisans. “It’s understated luxury that I’m selling,” she says. “Many of my clients haven’t been able to find a piece of jewellery that they can identify with elsewhere, while others are tired of bling and looking for something more authentic.” Maya Bjørnsten’s new Bredgade store may be a bit of a challenge to find, but after turning heads with an exhibition at the royal Amalienborg Palace, Maya Bjørnsten’s unique collection has found a home befitting the natural beauty of rough diamonds. “Along the journey, we picked up admirers while displaying in Paris, as well as in Dover Street Market in London, Tokyo and New York. Come in and see Mother Nature’s handiwork at its finest – lovingly set in the finest gold with restraint to ensure that the rough diamond’s beauty always steals the show,” she concludes. Love it like it is. RoughDiamonds.dk Fine Jewellery by Maya Bjørnsten Bredgade 56 1260 Copenhagen

NORDIC DESIGN AT BRUUN RASMUSSEN By Mathilde Bach Jørgensen

Nordic design has truly caught the eye of the international market – and this can also be felt at the auction house Bruun Rasmussen, who is currently experiencing a strong demand for names such as Wegner, Juhl and Jacobsen. At first, everyone fell in love with the Nordic style of furniture design, yet in recent years attention has also turned to ceramics. “Nordic design is characterized by high quality work, organic forms and a unique lightness in the design. At Bruun Rasmussen, we are experts in selling Nordic design at the traditional auctions in Copenhagen where the most exclusive items are sold, but we also have a large online universe where there is something in all price categories,” says Kristina Ulfvik, design expert at Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers of Fine Art.

163

THE MAGAZINE NO. 33

164

Especially the furniture pieces are in huge demand at Bruun Rasmussen: “Nordic furniture design truly got its international breakthrough in the late 1940s and is characterized by organic materials such as wood, leathers and wool. It is often a very timeless design that is functional and easy to integrate into one’s interior, “says Kristina Ulfvik. In addition to the aesthetic qualities, Nordic furniture is also characterized by a strong tradition of fine craftsmanship: “Many of the classic furniture architects were also educated as cabinetmakers, which meant that they also had an exceptionally fine understanding of the material,” explains Kristina Ulfvik.

THE MAGAZINE NO. 33

The purchase of a design classic often includes considerations that go beyond the piece of furniture itself: “Danish design has a distinctive aura of nostalgia about it, where you get a special feeling of going back in time,” explains Kristina Ulfvik.

165

THE MAGAZINE NO. 33

166

Nordic ceramics are also popular at the moment, and especially Danish stoneware is in high demand. Axel Salto and Alev Siesby are two of the ceramicists whose work achieves very high prices at auctions. However, you do not have to spend a fortune to buy Danish stoneware. Arne Bang is a good example of a designer who makes more affordable ceramics: “He worked with a simple idiom and glazes in soft colours, which makes it easy to integrate into a modern interior,” says Kristina Ulfvik.

THE MAGAZINE NO. 33

Saxbo and Kähler are also key ceramicists: “Chief designer Eva Stæhr-Nielsen is the epitome of Saxbo ceramics. The colours are bold and the design is organic with inspiration from the soft forms of nature. At Kähler, the artist Svend Hammershøi has been a central figure with a special penchant for double glaze in grey tones,” concludes Kristina Ulfvik. Bruun Rasmussen generally experiences a great interest in the timeless ceramic classics from the 1940s to the 1970s. You can find inspiration for your interior design every day at bruun-rasmussen.dk.

JANE KØNIG Jane Kønig graduated as a clothing designer from at the Danish Design School in 1986. During her course, Jane created jewellery for her projects, and along the way jewellery became her preferred field of work. Jane Kønig’s universe is playful and eclectic. The jewellery is designed for people to be inspired by different combinations. All of her pieces are simple in their expression with a whimsical twist, and Jane uses stones, pearls and enamel in different colours to create a contrast to the timeless and classic jewellery. Jane Kønig’s philosophy is to challenge women’s way of wearing jewellery and get them to experiment with their look. The jewellery can compliment a casual denim and T-shirt look and allows you to ‘mix and match’ your own personal look.

EVEN MORE 911 IN AN SUV: THE NEW PORSCHE CAYENNE TURBO Stuttgart. With its world premiere at the 67th International Motor Show in Frankfurt, the new Porsche Cayenne Turbo is taking its place at the top of the model line. The completely new top-of-the-range model from the third generation of the Cayenne is once again raising the bar for sporty performance in its segment. The four-litre V8 biturbo engine delivers 404 kW (550 hp). The new Cayenne Turbo accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds (3.9 seconds with the Sport Chrono Package) and reaches a top speed of 286 km/h. EVEN SHARPER DESIGN With an exclusive front end and the LED main headlights of the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS), the Cayenne Turbo has an appearance that is both dominant and independent. Virtually all the vehicle functions of the fully networked SUV can be displayed and operated using the high-resolution display and touchscreen of the Porsche Advanced Cockpit.

Stuttgart.

ACTIVE CHASSIS WITH THREE-CHAMBER AIR SUSPENSION AND MIXED TYRES The new lightweight chassis of the Cayenne Turbo combines the best of three worlds: the precision of a sports car, the comfort of a saloon and the adaptability of an off-road vehicle. At the same time, its everyday suitability in terms of parking and turning manoeuvres is improved, as is the comfort level.

184

FIRST SUV WITH ADAPTIVE ROOF SPOILER AND NEW HIGH-PERFORMANCE BRAKE The new Cayenne Turbo is the first SUV to have an adaptive roof spoiler as a component of its active aerodynamics. Depending on the position, this optimises efficiency, increases downforce on the rear axle and, in the airbrake position, shortens the braking distance from higher speeds. The top system in the programme remains the optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB). The new Cayenne Turbo is available to order now from the two Porsche Centers in Denmark: Porsche Center København and Porsche Center Aarhus, with the market launch in Europe scheduled for the end of 2017. In Denmark, the top model of the SUV model line costs from DKK 2.657.826 including VAT and taxes.

ART GUIDE

Han deltog i 2015 i Monochrome Photography Awards - og vandt i kategorien: Fine art photographer of the year (professionel).

mingoPHOTOArt Throughout the past thirty years Mingo has worked with the craft of photography. He has amongst other produced the book `Dedicated´ in which he portrays 25 Danish artists - including personalities as painter Michael Kvium and actors Ghita Nørby and Nikolaj Lie Kaas. Since the Millenium, the photograph as an art form has been very important to Mingo and in recent years this ha been intensified. In 2015 Mingo took part in the Monochrome Photography Awards and won the category Fine Art Photographer of the Year (professional). Impermanence is a theme that consistently pervades the artwork of Mingo. The fact that everything is impermanent and nothing lasts forever, not even the tiniest hair on the body intrigues him. Moreover, he attempts to find the beauty within all the things he does and from experience, it often arises when impermanence has left its marks.

ART GUIDE

Hornsleth’s works, whatever medium, are countercultural in every sense of the term, at once toying with, exploiting and criticising popular culture through their defiant attitude to social conformity. Driven by the symbolic representation of his own name, Hornsleth’s work succeeds in engendering its own momentum whilst simultaneously questioning the nature of publicity and celebrity culture at large. Often described as a cross between Friedrich Nietzsche, Andy Warhol and Dr. House, one can always expect a certain playful or egotistical madness in Hornsleth’s work, refreshing and invigorating in its capacity to shock.

ART GUIDE

LOUISE THOMINE The Copenhagen based artist Louise Thomine (Thomine & ArtFellow) made her debut exhibition in early 2012 with the “ArtFellow” lady. The Japanese-inspired ArtFellow woman is a frequent repeat in Thomine’s art. Spanning a wide range of emotions, in particular thoughtfulness and contemplation, ArtFellow will present the viewer with vivid food for thought. The works are, besides being aesthetically beautiful, communicative and confrontational. The femininity of her drawings both clash and reunite with provocative and erotic undertones.
