Message for the AMR Family
Message for the
AMR Family If 2020 was a year of many challenges, 2021 was no less. We have learned to overcome distances, we also learned to overcome with patience all setbacks, and we reaffirm that success is in the sum of efforts and teamwork. Things do not happen. Things are made to happen; anticipation is a virtue, and things only happen if we make them happen. Personally, we grow closer to our family and friends and discovered that we do not need as much as we thought to be happy. We learned to value what we had and to understand that life creates obstacles, but limits are set by ourselves. We understood and learned to be more appreciative, humble, and to focus on what we can control, instead of wasting time on those things that are beyond our control. Without a doubt, in adversities, we have become better human beings.
Let’s continue working as a team (we do it together), we know that this generates success for us. Likewise, let us face the professional challenges that lie ahead as a great opportunity to demonstrate once again what we are capable of. THANK YOU, colleagues, for being who you are, for your tireless passion for what you do, for your dedication, and, above all, for your human quality, which makes you unique. I wish 2022 brings you a lot of health, happiness, and personal success. With my deepest gratitude,
Professionally, 2021 was a year that we will not forget. We marked and achieved historical milestones that should make us proud and that led us, as Alejandro Reynal mentioned, to the end of a long path of illusions, which began 20 years ago sailing, and which ends happily in what will be our definitive "home" for the future. Understanding the above, we will work together to create a world of understanding and caring, which is the Hyatt Vision, with the fundamental purpose of caring for people so that they can be their best. For that and much more, we are very excited about this “new adventure” that begins for us as one family. We must remain vigilant. We face 2022 without looking back, but without forgetting. Appreciating the things that previously we did not give importance, with a backpack full of experiences and values that we must continue to implement and share. 4

AMR News Hyatt completes the acquisition of ALG What you should know: • On November 1st, 2021, Hyatt completed the acquisition of Apple Leisure Group. Now, we have broadened our world presence and diversified our portfolio. • Hyatt is adding more than 100 AMR Collection properties to their offers to guests and customers. • ALG will continue to operate in a similar way prior to the acquisition, as a business unit led by Alejandro Reynal and the ALG / AMR management team. • In this new chapter, we now refer to ALG members and employees as colleagues, joining our Hyatt colleagues to become a single-family worldwide.
• The acquisition of ALG provides guests, members, and customers more options to discover new destinations and world-class resorts, as well as a greater growth potential with new brands for operators and owners across the world.
Today, we write a new chapter together as a single family!
• Hyatt and ALG, together, are currently present in more than 70 countries in six continents of the world. • This acquisition has to do with growth; together we are more than the sum of our parts. Hyatt and ALG are committed to learning from each other and applying the best practices in both organizations as we diversify the attention offered to a larger group of travelers.

Getting to Know Cory Shade
Getting to Know Cory Shade Chief Legal Officer at ALG Describe yourself in 3 virtues I guess the 3 virtues that would describe me are: determined, enthusiastic, and integrity. Determined because when I have a task I like finishing it. I like accomplishing things, carrying through, and looking for results. Then, I’d say enthusiastic when I have a task that I know is important to somebody else or the mission of the company, I just strive to get it done. Especially because I know that people working at ALG and AMR are such wonderful and driven people, so professional, and especially that work with passion, which really drives me to always want to do my best and even more for them. Finally, the last virtue, integrity. When I say integrity I mean it in the way that I’d definitely make mistakes, because I don’t know everything, and to have the humility to admit that. If you know something better than me, I’ll just accept that and work with that. Also, with integrity comes my word, and when I give my word I’ll do anything to get to meet those objectives.
What is your purpose in life?
What did you do before arriving at ALG?
“ I know that people
working at ALG and AMR are such wonderful and driven people, so professional, and especially that work with passion, which really drives me to always want to do my best and even more for them
“
At this time in life, professionally, I think it is assisting with making the transition to Hyatt and making it the easiest possible for everyone because we are joining families. Now we are married and whenever there is a marriage you get to know the in-laws, the cousins, and that’s where I am professionally. As for my personal life, I have a daughter in high school who is about to get into college right now, and I need to focus on creating a connection with her because I know that she’s leaving. Hopefully, she is going to the world with all the tools that will make her become a wonderful, safe, secure, and stable human being. She is very important to me, and I’d like to keep that connection because I’m gonna be in Florida and she’s going to be in New York. I need to reassess and make sure that I have everything set for that and what is gonna be my next stage after all that extra time I’ll have.
Right before coming to ALG, I was at the retail clothing company Perry Ellis, so I did everything for them. We had wonderful brands like Original Penguin, wich I love, and we had operations globally. 25

Getting to Know Cory Shade
What do you think is your added value for the company? Diverse perspective. I bring a perspective that is more global and more strategic in looking for solutions to get us to the next stage. Whatever that next stage might be, to get us there.
As a female leader, what leadership lessons have you learnt over the course of your career? So, as a female leader, I’d say it was to listen to others at all different levels, which I think is very important. And, also, I think flexibility, knowing that people have different things that come at different stages of their lives. For men and women who have small children, they know they have different needs and to listen and adapt to them, to not be so rigid. I have people that I trust and I believe in their capabilities, so let them be who they are and adjust. I’m surrounded by great people, and having these people with fantastic knowledge and backgrounds is the best, so I let them do what they do. And it is an important lesson.
What do you think are the main challenges and opportunities for the next generation of women leaders? I think it is to learn how to balance everything. I do think technology is going to make us more flexible, but sometimes we need to put down our work and balance our lives. I think it is very important now and I think it is going to be a bigger challenge as we go forward. I think that women who know how to balance that will stay happier and more engaged and better. They need to balance as they go forward because it will get harder. Also, it is okay to be in whatever position you want, there is no limitation to what we can achieve, just make sure it is right for you.
26
What are some ways you’ve gained more confidence in yourself as a leader? I think it is by always trying and not being afraid to try; not being afraid to fail at something. With failures come successes as well and each success just builds. Not being afraid of the changes, because change is always present. I know that change is always gonna come and it is not something I wanna fight. I wanna be able to just give the best result and embrace the change.
What do you do to empower/ encourage women in Hyatt/ ALG? I encourage everyone to participate. I actually ask anybody what they think. I think that some people are shy or timid, especially women, and I think that as they get comfortable talking and expressing themselves they get more empowered. Also, anytime a woman can be brought to an important group, I make sure it happens. I think it is important to bring women to the table.
Could you share with us an experience that marked your personal and professional life? When I was working in a law firm in Miami, there were a lot of traditional perceptions, very Latino. One of the partners had a client who was Japanese and the people from the Japanese company were coming to town; the lead partner was not going to be able to be at that meeting and he was very concerned, so he asked me to take a junior associate and let him lead such meeting. It struck me that I was asked to do that at that time but it also taught me that it was okay. At the end, that meeting took place and somehow it was clear that I was the lead and not the junior associate. This situation taught me that you don’t have to hit change with a hammer; it is okay to show your experience, your poise, and let things come naturally.
05
What are you most proud of? I’d say that I’m most proud of my daughter. She is my greatest pride and my greatest worry at the same time.
Whatis your greatest achievement out of your professional career? I was appointed by president Bush to the board of Sallie Mae, and it was a very nice highlight.
/
Getting to Know Cory Shade
think it is important to have expectations from my team members. I have great team members and colleagues and I know the wonderful capacity each of them has. It is about letting them learn that about themselves and fulfill that for themselves.
What are you learning right now? Life takes a lot of different roads and it’s always the basics. It is the simplicity of just being happy and doing things that make you smile.
What should a leader not have?
How do you see yourself in 5 years?
Not listening. That makes a bad leader. It is important to know different opinions from people around you.
Reassessing. I think life is a constant reassessment. I really enjoy being with the people I work with at ALG and Hyatt. I’m loving to get to know everyone and I see that there is a lot of opportunity, I see the global potential and excitement. I really see working with that and with my daughter gone I’ll have some extra time to work on the non-profit side and other type of community interest that I haven’t had the chance to do as much as I want.
What quote would you give us?
What virtues make a good leader different? A good leader has to care about their teammates and colleagues. It must be caring in an authentic way, it is really getting to know them, what makes them tick so that you can help them succeed. I also
“Let people be all they can be” What is your philosophy of life? I think it is caring and also that I believe in the goodness of people. I believe that people generally want to do the right thing. I also believe that we should let people be and enjoy.
Years of experience: 20 Profession: Lawyer Place of birth: Raleigh, North Carolina Favorite sport: I enjoy playing tennis but also enjoy watching lacrosse Favorite food: I like everything Passtime: Travelling, going to my daughter lacrosse games, and refereeing What you like the most about yourself: That I’m flexible What you don’t like about yourself: Sometimes I don’t take time for myself Favorite destination to go: Any destination where I could go snorkeling Favorite book: 1984 Idol: My grandmother

Think, Act & Work Safe
CIQIL: The certification which adds value to every one of the processes of the hotel. I am being curious and I want to ask you:
1.
2.
3.
Why are we not seeking who to blame at our hotels when a problem comes up?
Do you know who is the most unwelcomed guest at our hotels?
Have you ever heard of MEDUSA?
Well, if you don’t have answers to my questions, don’t worry; I’ll explain shortly.
To mention the main topics of CIQUIL:
The Certification in Innovation and Quality Improvement for Leaders (CIQIL) is an internal certification of AMR Collection designed to add value to the processes of our operating model.
1. Leadership, which from the perspective of AMR™ Collection competencies would be: “to manage and maximize results” and “to inspire and motivate our teams”
This certification was designed by the team of Standards and Innovation with the support of the company’s most experienced Quality Managers. It has been implemented in our hotels since 2019 aiming to contribute to the development of leadership skills, based on quality and innovation tools endorsed by entities of international connotation like the American Society for Quality (ASQ).
2. To promote excellence and service quality. 3. To celebrate innovation. And, as I promised, I’ll present to you the main responsible for the problems in the hotel: MEDUSA, which is an acrostic, awarded to this character that only appears when something goes wrong in the process. Let me explain it:
The development of this training process includes the use of quality tools to find the root cause and solve problems, as well as improve and design processes, products, and services. 37
08

Think, Act & Work Safe
Moving people or equipment without adding value. Expectations: The waste of time during the production or service process without adding value. Defects, mistakes, or failures in the product or service. Using incorrectly our human talent or their creativity. Spoil from producing more than demanded or doing it before needed.
We have certified executives of several hotels and we keep moving forward as this is a constant process for new leaders being part of our hotels. In case you want to know more about CIQIL, get in touch with the Quality Manager of your hotel and ask them how can you apply quality tools in your work area. Ask to Human Resources: which one of the quality tools included in CIQIL is perfectly applied in Occupational Safety when an accident occurs to avoid a recurrence?
Absence of the WOW effect due to the lack of experiences producing fascination. To pass this certification, our leaders, members of the Executive Committee, and the Operating Committee must fulfill the following requirements: 1. To participate in the face-to-face / virtual workshop and its activities. 2. To pass the final evaluation: an online exam through a mobile device in the room. 3. To submit a final work. Each participant must prepare two projects: One of 6 steps to solve problems, and another of 9 steps to design new products, processes, or services. These projects must be based on real needs at their hotels.

Hair completely held up and drawn back, avoid hair on the forehead, use a hair cap if your work area requires it. Avoid accessories in your hair and using bright hair dyes. Banderas Bay We are located in the impressive Banderas Bay, facing the Pacific Ocean, near Punta de Mita and La Cruz de Huanacaxtle Marina. Based on the golden-sand beaches, the property fuses the elegant and original design of Sordo Madaleno with elements of nature, with a total of 641 rooms. We are the first property to be called Surf & Spa Resort and the only resort in Mexico supported by 480 seismic isolators. In addition, it has a jogging track that naturally crosses the resort and a plant nursery with more than 4,000 plants and species.

La Cruz de Huanacaxtle Nautical Capital of Riviera Nayarit Tradition has been one of the essential characteristics of La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, a fishing village. This little town has been modernized due to the construction of the Marina Riviera Nayarit, the largest and most modern in the area, which has created an environment where the typical life of a Mexican town coexists harmoniously with the sophistication of a project like the Marina. Thus, during your visit to La Cruz, as its residents name it, you will have the opportunity to witness live postcards like the arrival of fishermen to the dock with their boats loaded with a wide variety of fish. The common name “Guanacaste tree” is a denomination that comes from two words in the Nahuatl language: “quauh”, which means tree, and “nacastl”, which means ear. This is a reference to the shape of its fruit, which resembles a human ear.

Marietas Islands The Marietas Islands national park is composed of two larger islands that are approximately 60,000 years old: Isla Redonda (including Playa del Amor) and Isla Larga. Also, there are two more islets and other smaller pieces of land. In addition to Playa Escondida, another very popular attraction of the Marietas Islands is La Nopalera beach, on Isla Larga. This beach is surrounded by a rocky wall and large cactus plants. It can only be visited when the tide is low. In the park, there are also rock arches, small caves, and even a marine siphon that expels the water in a spectacular way, as if it were a geyser.
Whale watching The best season for whale watching in Riviera Nayarit is from mid-December to the end of March. Many marine giants migrate to the warm waters of the Pacific Ocean in Banderas Bay during the winter months. The whales come to feed, mate and give birth to small calves: Humpback whales Killer whales
Punta de Mita It is a residential community of 748 hectares located in the Mexican Pacific. This unique diamond-shaped peninsula is surrounded by beautiful white-sand beaches and lush tropical flora. Comprised of a wide variety of residential offerings and available land, Punta de Mita is the only residential community with two Jack Nicklaus Signature golf courses, as well as various recreational facilities.

/ We are authentic
We are authentic Diversity and Inclusion are decisive elements for the success of companies As part of a global ALG initiative, we have embraced Diversity and Inclusion as key elements in the success of our company. Contemplating diversity is not enough if there are no real actions to integrate it, enhance it, and generate value in the organization. Without any doubt, our little actions will make a difference. Thus, differences will not only be respected but will also be valued and used to achieve better business results and the creation of an environment where everyone is and feels valued. There are social barriers (prejudice, stereotypes, indifference, ignorance, and discrimination) that hinder the full and comprehensive development of the people. This is noticeable, but, what if we do not stick to this negative vision? What if we decide not to stay exclusively on inclusion and take advantage of the diversity in talent and potential that we all have. We will be giving a much greater dimension to diversity. Diversity and inclusion in an organization aim to create an organizational culture strong enough to understand differences of any kind, with programs that ensure the well-being of team members, and where there is an environment in which communication is open and effective. It is about strengthening cultural values (including our company values), promoting solidarity, respect, teamwork, and ethics.
“Diversity is a reality in the labor and consumer market” Thomas Kochan 94

Diversity as a source competitive advantage
/ We are authentic
of
The indisputable benefits of adopting diversity models are related to improving the work environment and reducing turnover, but also to increasing productivity. Proper management of our cultural diversity through human resources is not only a legal and moral obligation, but its impact is directly proportional to the results within the company. The more diverse we are, the more likely we become to attract better talent, take a closer look at different customer segments, increase our satisfaction, and make better decisions.
We do it together First, it is necessary to start with ourselves and recognize our own impartiality. Therefore, we must all become vigilantes of inclusive behaviors, instead of leaving it for leaders. Our role in the organization must include holding ourselves accountable for creating and fostering a diverse and inclusive culture.
We want to know your comments on initiatives to strengthen Diversity and Inclusion in AMR, let us know at: connect@amresorts.com.

Stop Filling Your Body With Soda
Don’t Obsessively Weigh Yourself
Added sugars — sweeteners added to foods or beverages when they are processed or prepared — are little more than empty calories that can lead to weight gain and even obesity, which increases the risk for chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease and cancer.
Your weight is determined by a variety of factors, including hydration, climate, when you last ate, bathroom habits and exercise. So what does that mean? Weight fluctuation is common, and there’s much more to good health than a number on a scale.
02 Water Is Your Secret Weapon Hydration is important for everyone, but it can also be a key component of your weight-loss efforts. In addition to keeping your body’s engine burning, water helps to stave off hunger: The more you drink, the less room you have for consuming calories.
03
Get Ahead of the Game and Plan Your Meals Planning healthy meals ahead of time is one of the easiest things you can do to set yourself up for successful weight loss. It’ll not only curb the last-minute pizza delivery and fastfood drive-thru but will also help you save time, calories and money — and might even inspire you to introduce new meals into your daily routine.
96
04 Kick-Start a Walking Game You don’t have to join the CrossFit train just to get in a good workout. Regular, lower-intensity exercise like walking has multiple benefits (including stronger bones, a better immune system and better sleep) and can help you build fitness and lose weight. Bonus: It’s free, easy on the joints and requires nothing but a good pair of tennis shoes.
05 The Secret Behind the Sleep - Weight Connection Sleep is undervalued. Getting enough quality sleep is holistically tied to your health and weight-loss goals. Sleep offers our bodies a chance to be restored and rejuvenated. When sleep-deprived, we tend to eat more, exercise less and make poor food choices.
