MESSAGE FOR THE AMRESORTS FAMILY

MESSAGE FOR THE

AMRESORTS FAMILY I would like to use this internal communication platform, the I AM Resorts Magazine, to officially welcome our huge family of AMResorts Europe.

We will continue facing many challenges, and the year 2021 is one of them. That being said, let's focus on our responsibilities and goals in order to reach them. Let’s continue working together as a team to keep creating unforgettable experiences, always led by the passion for what we do, which is our main distinction.

Flexibility and strength have been the backbone of our successful growth throughout the European continent. Despite the challenges brought by 2020, we remain optimistic about the opportunities we identify for our global expansion strategy. We started this 2021 with strength and hope to exceed the 100 hotels within the AMResorts Group. Additionally, our expansion strategy in Europe will be mainly focused on Spain, Greece, Portugal, Italy, and Croatia.

WELCOME everyone of the great AMResorts family in Europe to our I AM Resorts Magazine! Enjoy it!

Our integration with Europe is a clear example that the only way to achieve our objectives is by having a solid company with a clear mission and vision. Gabriel Felip Group President AMResorts Global Operations

THE ORIGIN OF ALUA HOTELS The origin of Alua Hotels and Resorts was an opportunity that came from the Spanish hotel market in 2014-2015. Back then, there was a great separation between the point of view of the property and the management of the hotels. We anticipated the entry of institutional investors into the sector and we created a company focused on the needs that these investors would have and that they weren’t offered by traditional companies. The ability to transform assets, financial understanding, and agility and flexibility in operations are many of the reasons Alua Hotels & Resorts became one of the companies with fast growth in Spain. At the same time, we built the Alua brand based on four fundamental cornerstones: freshness, local character, digitization, and sustainability. The brand became one of the favorites within the 4* segment very quickly due to the accomplishment of operational promises and distribution capacity.

10

AMR NEWS

HISTORY & PRESENT OF

AMRESORTS EUROPE After four years of operating successfully in different Mediterranean islands, a part of the Alua company was bought by AMResorts, another company with extensive experience in luxury resorts in the Caribbean, becoming a part of this giant hospitality industry. Alua's platform in Europe, along with leading brands like Secrets or Dreams, strength and being in a great leading group such as Apple Leisure Group were the perfect formula for success which has allowed us to become the 4th hotel chain in Spain with more than 50 hotels and around 14,000 rooms. Plus, being the only one in the top 5 who is focused on vacation only. That’s why we have great growth plans in new markets like Greece.

FUTURE PLANS As of today, in Europe, we are in the process of developing the AMResorts brands for our different customer segments. Today we have more than 50 hotels in dream locations such as Costa del Sol, Fuerteventura, Corfu, Crete, Ibiza, Lanzarote, Mallorca, Marbella, Menorca, and Tenerife, and we want to keep growing with strength. We have the possibility to continue expanding in some destinations other than Spain, such as Greece, where we are about to close a deal that will make us one of the leading operators in the market. Among the most traditional markets, we are very eager to grow in Portugal, Italy, Croatia, and Cyprus. Additionally, we are also working along with Global Development to find the best way to enter North Africa (Morocco and Egypt), the Middle East (Dubai and Ras al Khaimah), and the Indian Ocean (The Maldives and Zanzibar).

HOST CITIES

HOST CITIES MALLORCA Relaxation, sun, art, fashion, Mediterranean gastronomy: Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands, is one of the destinations that offers absolutely everything. You can spend a day walking through the historic center of Palma, leaving your mark on its streets, just as the Romans, Arabs, and Christians did centuries ago. The following day, just a few kilometers away, you will find yourself walking under the sun on infinite beaches, like Es Trenc and Formentor, and enjoying the warm waters of hidden coves like Cala Varques and Cala El Mago. You can do all of this while staying in one of the 18 hotels on the Island; each one adapts to the different needs of our guests. There are Only Adults resorts, which will allow you to

disconnect and relax with your partner, like AluaSoul Palma, AluaSoul Mallorca Resort, AluaSoul Alcudia Bay, AluaSoul Carolina, or the five-star hotel located on the white sand of Paguera beach, Secrets Mallorca Villamil Resort & Spa. Family resorts like Alua Hawaii Mallorca & Suites, Alua Palmanova Bay, AluaSun Torrenova, Alua Calas de Mallorca Resort, AluaSun Cala Antena, Alua Gran Camp de Mar, AluaSun Continental Park, Alua Boccacio, Alua Leo and Alua Las Rocas, in which the kids will have so much fun that it will be hard for them to leave the resort. Finally, for our select guests, there is Zoetry Mallorca, located in a Mallorcan property with more than 400 years of history. The choice is yours, but don’t be worried, there is no chance for mistakes!

HOST CITIES

IBIZA The popular island of Ibiza is a jewel of the Mediterranean not only in July and August, which are the most popular months to go. Its historic center, Dalt Vila, proclaimed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is surrounded by a wall built in the 16th century to protect the city from pirates and today is one of the most photographed places. However, and it couldn’t be otherwise, the protagonists of Ibiza are the beaches. With white sand and crystal-clear waters, beaches like Cala Salada or Cala San Vicente will make you feel you are in paradise. If you come to spend a vacation in a couple, we recommend AluaSoul Ibiza or the recently built Siau Ibiza Hotel, a five-star where you will find the peace you need. If you come with family to spend a few days, you may enjoy all the luxuries of Alua Hawaii Ibiza, Alua Miami Ibiza, AluaSun Miami Ibiza Apartments, Hotel Cartago, and Hotel Galeón. Which one will you choose to spend the best vacations of your life?

HOST CITIES

MENORCA

TENERIFE

Paradise beaches with white sand and crystal-clear water, traditional villages, calderetas de langosta worthy of a Michelin prize and wonderful sunsets to get lost staring at. Some of the most signature beaches are Cala Pregonda, with reddish sand, or Cala Tortuga, located in the Parque Natural de s'Albufera des Grau. Menorca is the quintessential destination for a relaxing holiday and a refuge for all those looking for tranquility, whether with family, friends, or a partner. If the last one is your case, we recommend AluaSoul Menorca, our adults-only hotel located on the seafront, where you will fully enjoy the Alua experience accompanied by the person you love the most. If what you are thinking about is giving your family an unforgettable vacation, we offer you accommodation in our resorts Alua Illa de Menorca, AluaSun Far Menorca, AluaSun Mediterráneo, AluaSun Lago Park Apartments, and Oasis Park Apartments. No matter which one you choose, after experiencing the luxury in our resorts, you will think about experiencing it again!

If you are looking for a unique climate, unique natural spaces, and gastronomy that combines tradition and imagination, Tenerife is a destination for you. On this island, you will find unique places such as the longest volcanic tube in Europe and the Teide National Park, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. If you want to get relaxed under the sun along with the waves’ lullaby, we recommend, among others, Playa Jardín, Playa Chica, and Punta Brava, known for its impressive black sand, or Playa de las Teresitas, a bay of 1,300 meters long that cannot be compared to the Caribbean. To fully enjoy all these experiences, we will love to take care of you in Puerto de la Cruz in the Hotel Parque San Antonio or the south of the island at Dreams Jardín Tropical, our resorts in Tenerife; both designed to spend a few days with family, friends or couple. After a getaway to these luxury resorts, we are sure that you will be counting the days to return!

FUERTEVENTURA

LANZAROTE

On the beaches of Fuerteventura, it is not surprising to see locals and visitors running towards the waves, with a board under their arms, to spend a few hours surfing. The reason: the island is, due to its geographical location, famous for its water sports, especially surfing, windsurfing and water skiing.

On the island of Lanzarote, the northernmost and easternmost of the Canary archipelago, you can find everything from the bustle of the most tourist areas, with a great atmosphere and recreational activities, to natural spaces with unprecedented landscapes to enjoy tranquility and silence. One of the island's greatest attractions is, in addition to all the golden sand beaches and crystal-clear water, the Parque Nacional Timanfaya, a set of volcanic formations that will take your breath away.

However, if you are one of those who prefer to stay sunbathing on the sand, this island may also be your ideal place, you will be received by a coastline of emerald water and white sand. In fact, its volcanic landscape and its virgin beaches led UNESCO to declare the entire island a Biosphere Reserve in 2009. Fuerteventura is, in short, the ideal place to disconnect, sunbathe, and swim in crystal-clear water. Additionally, it’s surrounded by natural landscapes such as the impressive Parque Natural de Dunas de Corralejo. You may stay at AluaVillage Fuerteventura, Hotel Suites Fuerteventura, and at the exclusive Secrets Bahía Real, our luxury resorts for the whole family or just with a partner.

If you want to spend an unforgettable vacation in Lanzarote you just have to come to Dreams Lanzarote Playa Dorada Resort & Spa, to spend a family vacation; or, to Secrets Lanzarote Resort & Spa, an adult-only resort for romantic or friends getaways. Enjoy the 22-degree temperature of this paradise!

HOST CITIES

PENÍNSULA The south of Spain is known throughout the world for the beauty of its coasts, the kindness of its people, and the exquisite cuisine. For many reasons, Costa del Sol, Almería, and La Manga are some of the favorite places for locals and foreigners to disconnect from the world and enjoy a unique vacation, surrounded by family or friends. In Torremolinos you can choose between the AluaSun Costa Park and AluaSun Flamingo, both family hotels. But if you are planning a couple's or friends' vacation, we recommend the AluaSun Lago Rojo. Near, in Marbella, the jewel of Costa del Sol, the whole family will enjoy leisure activities at AluaSun Marbella Park while having at hand both sides of this Andalusian city: the most traditional atmosphere in town and the luxury of Puerto Banús. In Almería you will find, according to some, the best beaches in Spain, in addition to the spectacular Parque Natural del Cabo de Gata. You may enjoy both while you are staying at Alua Golf Trinidad, on the beachfront of Playa Serena. Additionally, we also offer AluaSun Doblemar, a resort located in La Manga del Mar Menor and from which, as its name suggests, you will enjoy views of both the Mediterranean Sea and the Mar Menor.

Alua Golf Trinidad

CORFÚ Corfu is full of light, hidden coves, and long beaches, some of them still uninhabited and quiet. One of them is Corcyra, the beach where our Hotel Dreams Corfu Resort & Spa is located, a four-star resort that will become the ideal refuge for families who look for great landscapes, tradition, and culture in Greece. It is also very close to the charming town of Gouvia. The peace and beauty of Corfu will stick with you long after your vacation; you will return home impregnated with the smell of its crystalline waters and with the touch of the sun still on your skin.

ZAKINTHOS

CRETE Reminiscences of classical civilizations remain alive on Crete, the largest of the Greek Islands, with dreamy beaches, crystal-clear water, and unforgettable landscapes, and delicious food. To enjoy all of these, there will be no better place to stay than our Hotel Dreams Creta Resort & Spa, a family resort located on the beautiful Maleme beach and very close to the city of Chania, one of the most popular on the island due to its infinite possibilities of leisure. You will enjoy art through the architectural styles in its streets, its museums, and its historical corners. Besides, it is especially known for its cuisine and excellent wine, a must for amateur winemakers! At Dreams Creta, the kids will also enjoy a private water park and a wide variety of sports programs to spend an unforgettable vacation. Let yourself be carried along by the famous Greek hospitality and relax in the Mediterranean sun.

The island of Zakinthos, also known as Zante, is one of the privileged destinations in the Mediterranean Sea and the perfect option to enjoy a relaxing holiday immersed in Western culture, art, and tradition. The north of Zakinthos contrasts with the most common landscape of the Greek islands, with its mountainous and rocky areas. Meanwhile, in the southern area we find more sandy places and gulfs of different sizes. In the eastern part of the island is located the Alua Zakinthos, one of the best hotels on the island. It is a family resort, surrounded by native vegetation and cobbled streets, where you can disconnect from your daily routine and relax under the sun while observing the intense colors of the Mediterranean surrounding our hotel.

GETTING TO KNOW JAVIER ÁGUILA

Every day that I fail to achieve my goal is of great motivation to keep trying

GETTING TO KNOW

Javier ” Águila PRESIDENT OF ALG, EUROPE Mention 3 qualities of yours: Positive, honest, and persevering. Briefly, tell us about your professional background: I spent my first 15 professional years in strategic consultancy (McKinsey) and investment (Carlyle Group). There, in Carlyle, I had contact with this new sector for the first time in 2008, with the Management Board of Orizonia, a tourist leader in Spain with more than €2bn in billing. I spent 6 years there and my last position was as COO. It was very intense but I learned a lot about the sector. After my time in Carlyle, I had the chance to be part of the hotel sector in Spain (in ownership and management). I decided to start a new project that ended up being Alua which was the seed that later became ALG Europe.

22

GETTING TO KNOW JAVIER ÁGUILA

If there is a will, there is a way

What is your purpose in life? To be the best version of myself each day and to contribute as much as I can to create an environment that allows everyone else to do the same. Every day that I fail to achieve my goal is of great motivation to keep trying. What were you doing before ALG? I was the CEO of Alua, the hotel company I incorporated with a group of professionals and friends. Nowadays, it is the platform of ALG/AMR in Europe and I’m very proudly the Chairman. What do you consider is the value you added to the company? The strategic vision and knowledge on investment and institutional owners.

What is the growth expected for AMResorts in Europe in the coming years? The growth of AMResorts in Europe has been great. In 2020, we achieved 51 in the region with more than 14,000 rooms under our management. That placed us as the fourth hotel chain in Spain and the only one of the top 5 focused on vacation only. Also, we managed to arrive in Greece and we certainly have become the favorite company of the institutional investors. The combination of our brands, the knowledge on investment, and the amazing work of Development and the rest of the team are factors that perfectly placed us to keep growing.

23

GETTING TO KNOW JAVIER ÁGUILA

LEAD BY EXAMPLE

We are very active in Spain and Greece, where we are about to close a deal of more than 1,500 rooms. We want to get to markets like Portugal, Italy, Cyprus, and Croatia. We are working along with Global Development to find strategies to get to other destinations in the Middle East, North Africa, and the Indian Ocean.

I was profoundly affected by the illness and eventual loss of my father before than I expected. I was the eldest of the siblings and had to assume his role all of a sudden. It also taught me the vulnerability of life, and that no matter what you do, personally or professionally, it is essential to live and enjoy every moment to the fullest.

The Covid-19 crisis has been difficult for the hotel sector. I really hope that we are getting to the end of the tunnel. However, for companies like ours, it was an opportunity to grow faster and we took advantage of that.

Professionally, to be part of the bankruptcy process of a leading company. It is a long, complex, and full of uncertainty process. Being part of it taught me what to do and not to do in management, and to appreciate the commitment, strength, and motivations of the team members. Not only professionally but also personally. I certainly learned a lot during that process and I keep that in mind every day.

Share with us an experience that changed your life personally and professionally I believe that you have a deeper and stronger growth after difficult times, when you face greater challenges, generally speaking. 24

GETTING TO KNOW JAVIER ÁGUILA

How do you see yourself in 5 years? A bit older, I guess. Actually, I’m way more worried about the present than the future. Two of my objectives are to consolidate the growth and position of AMResorts in EMEA, and to help Alejandro Reynal to strengthen global strategies to make ALG, in a short term, a global leader in hotel management.

Which has been your greatest professional achievement? Unquestionably, to incorporate and grow Alua along with a group of great professionals and friends. I’m very proud of being able to bring to life an idea that was born from a PowerPoint and I’m very happy with such an exceptional team and our last achievement of making this project part of the leading group ALG.

Years of experience: +20 years. Birthplace: Badalona (Barcelona), Spain. Favorite sport: Basketball, I’m sure that I learned a lot of teamwork playing at a competitive level. Favorite dish: Paella, sushi, and tacos gobernador. Hobbies: Sport (any), music (festivals), movies, and, of course, traveling (always staying in hotels). Favorite movie: There are so many… 12 Angry Men, (LOTR) The Return of the King, The Quiet Man, Butch Cassidy, and the Sundance Kid, Gladiator, Matrix… and I could keep going; I love movies. Favorite real character: Albert Einstein and Leonardo da Vinci. Favorite fictional character: Aragorn (The Lord of the Rings).

THINK, ACT & WORK SAFE

Think, Act &

Work Safe Electricity: a dangerous ally

I would like to talk again about an ally that humanity has had for many years, who has been present in our daily activities and industry. Some have called it "the force moving the world" but we call it electricity: "a dangerous ally".

By the end of the 19th Century, Nikola Tesla managed to convince the billionaire investor, George Westinghouse, of the effectiveness of alternating current, an invention that later transformed the world. In his path to achieve success, Tesla had to face one of the world's greatest inventors, Thomas Alva Edison, who showed the deadly force of the alternating current to discredit the invention of his opponent, who was his former employee. This forced Tesla to implement security measures to make electricity safer for American homes. Among these measures, is the converter, which allows lowering the voltage considerably before reaching the houses. It is a very interesting story, which I encourage you to know more about. But for now, what I want to talk about is some dangers, related to electricity, that we have in our hotels. I’m going to start by explaining how electricity works, as well as some associated risks and dangers. Some of the risks of electricity are: 35

Fire is generally produced by high temperatures which electrical components reach at a certain time, and they may happen for many reasons such as short circuit, overload, loose connection elements, components in poor condition, among others.

Electric shock is an injury produced by the effect of electric current in humans or animals, it occurs by making direct contact with electricity. It may cause serious injuries or death.

Electric arc is the passage of energy through ionized air. It may cause serious injuries or instant death. The most common causes of arcing are dust or impurities in the circuits, improper approaching, falling tools, power surges, failure to maintain equipment, and exposure to energized parts.

THINK, ACT & WORK SAFE

You need to know the risks to which we could be exposed. You must know that in your hotel there might be a high voltage (12,470V), medium voltage (7,200V), and low voltage (110-220V) or 480 volts, depending on the needs. To control these risks, there are safety standards: NFPA-70 and NFPA-70E, as well as specific signs. I would like you to help us verify that your hotel is using these signs properly. I’d like to take this opportunity to remind you that all rooms and electrical panels must be correctly closed and marked.

DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE

As a task, I will invite you to see these three signs presented below. Do you think that they are the same? Will you be able to identify them in your hotel?

SOCIAL THE ROLE OF

WOMEN ON

SOCIAL MEDIA

Specialists and studies that analyze female leadership on the internet and social media think that women's leadership in this sector may destroy old stereotypes and demographic categories, making a real impact in media, advertising, and entertainment. I decided to talk about this matter since we are in the month of the commemoration of International Women's Day, taking place on March 8th every year. I hope you enjoy the reading. The participation of women in media is multitasking. They are not limited to interact on a single platform; for example, they can upload a picture to Instagram and at the same time like a post on Facebook, and also share a link on LinkedIn. Men, on the other hand, have more linear participation; generally, they are more selective when they participate in conversations and tend to share content with the same format. This and the fast adaptation to new platforms for women may become a trend in the years to come.

Only in America, women have a greater presence on the most popular social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest. Men are most active on platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Although the numbers of users are different in volume, there are other factors in which we see a greater female presence, such as the way of engaging in conversations and relationships through social media. 38

Research shows that in countries with gender inequalities in real life, women were more likely to have a significant online presence. Although Twitter is a social network with a predominance of male users, according to Adweek, women are less likely to be retweeted than men. Men accounts have almost twice the number of retweets.

WELLNESS

By David Pritchard Health & Performance Coach Apple Leisure Group

Wellness TIPS ON HEALTHY

LIVING FOR

WOMEN

There are ways that women can maintain a healthy lifestyle that has proven effective time and time again. Here’s our top ten:

Women are very good at putting others needs ahead of their own, but we all know that taking care of ourselves can go a long way in our caring for others.

7. Manage stress. There are many ways to approach this: meditation, breathing, talk therapy, exercise, nature therapy; finding what works for you is most important.

1. Take 5 foundational supplements – multivitamin/mineral, fish oils, magnesium, probiotics, vitamin D.

8. Sleep! This is the foundation for almost everything. Everyone’s sleep needs are a little different but most women need between 7-8 hours of sleep each night to function optimally. Sleep can be a challenging issue for many women.

2. Spend 20 minutes eating - eat slowly. 3. Eat to 80% full, don’t stuff yourself. 4. Eat quality food as much as possible; clean, non-processed whole foods; organic fruits and vegetables, meat and dairy.

9. Relationships – the connection we have to others is an important piece of our overall health. Family, friends, co-workers…they are all important and deserve our attention. If you are struggling with a person/relationship, there are ways to approach it positively and in a healthy manner.

5. Pay attention to how you feel after certain foods; look into eliminating certain types of foods that bother you. 6. Exercise – the amount and type of exercise will depend on age, fitness level, experience, and overall health. The general recommendation is 1-2 high-intensity workouts per week; 2-3 moderate to low intensity workouts per week, and recover 2 days. The most important thing for women is strength training to make sure there is strength work in your routine. Strength training has been shown repeatedly in studies to help with hormone utilization so this is especially important for women going through any hormonal shift.

10. Practice self-care. This doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Self-care can be as simple as taking a warm bath with Epsom salts before bed. It can mean blocking your schedule for 10 minutes each day to close your eyes, lie down and breathe. It can mean putting “read my book” in your calendar for a 15-minute increment. Or simply stepping outside and walking around in the natural light and air – it does wonders for our brains and our outlook on everything. 57
