Congress on Nightlife

How much can we party? Of course, when tourists spend their holidays in the sunshine beneath palm trees, they also seek nightlife with discos and pubs or a pretty beach club where the ocean breeze gently caresses them while they enjoy a cocktail at any time of the day or evening. That is the pure holiday feeling. But how far can entrepreneurs in the leisure industry go? How do they find the right balance between an equal offer for every taste with the need for a good night’s rest for local residents? Read more on pages 22 and 23

Viva la noche - many people want to enjoy the nightlife during their holiday

The jungle calls!

Join in the Arona Carnival Zebras, giraffes, lions, snakes, elephants, natives and anything else that can be associated with the jungle will be brought to life during the Carnival in Los Cristianos. The Jungle is the theme of the 2019 Arona International Carnival, which takes place from March 21 to April 1. Long after the official Ash Wednesday, the party people of the island will once again plunge into a colourful hustle and bustle together with the holidaymakers. Last year more than 125,000 people were drawn to the south for Arona’s Carnival, setting a new record, and a similarly active participation is expected this year. The streets will become a jungle filled with rhythm, colourful splendour, imaginative costumes and above all lots of good humour. It’s best to simply leave everyday life behind and instead conjure up a creative costume and let yourself be carried away by the cheerful activities on the street. The heart of Los Cristianos will throb to the samba beat with most events taking place outdoors in the Carnival pre-

cinct, opposite the Valdés Center. The first highlight will take place on March 23, when the Carnival by Day begins at 12pm with a Wig Festival and musical accompaniment by the radio station Europa

FM. The opening procession takes place at 7pm starting from the CC Gala shopping centre in Avenida Rafael Puig Lluvina in Playa de Las Américas and heading towards the Oasis shopping centre in Avenida

Las Américas. Drum and samba sounds, plus colourful dancing groups, are bound to infect the crowds with their party mood. Continued on page two
