Limassol has changed a lot over the past few years! Being the largest city of Cyprus, Limassol does not stop to impress and fascinate both the locals and tourists, getting upgraded and more developed as days go by, but keeping in touch with its traditional character. As a cosmopolitan destination, the city now combines both old and new, both countryside and city, both a local and an international aura. A walk in the old town of Limassol is highly recommended for any visitor that wants to experience the ambience of this contrast. Visitors can choose to do this independently or join one of the local tours organised for the last five decades, free of charge, by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, the Limassol Municipality and Association of Tour Guides. Offered every Monday at 10 am from the tourist information office in the Old Port, the tour takes visitors through the narrow streets of the town, with their 1930’s baroque style balconies and characteristic small cafes and shops, showcasing Limassol’s traditional city character. In several spots of the route, visitors can look down at the glass covered underground ancient remains that date back to the fifth century.
