CLASART CLASSIC Acclaimed New Production Of Falstaff At The Met Verdi’s brilliant final masterpiece Falstaff had its first new Met production in nearly 50 years. An undisputed master of Verdi's oeuvre, James Levine conducts Robert Carsen's acclaimed production, which stages the opera as a 1950’s sitcom filled with wine, women, and song, and food (lots of food!), love and laughter. The International Herald Tribune praised Carsen’s staging, first seen at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden, as a “production of eye-catching ingenuity.” “When it comes to theatrical flair, captivating costumes, stage antics and imagination, there are not many Broadway shows to rival the Met's new Falstaff”, adds The New York Times.

Ambrogio Maestri sings the iconic basso buffo role of Sir John Falstaff, the boorish, blustery character originally seen in Shakespeare’s Hen-

EuroArts Music is looking for coproduction partners for its new documentary project:

Pre-Buys Still Needed To Finance The Sounds Of Sax With Nine Other TV Channels

The Battle of the Belarus Free Theatre (60 min) Produced by EuroArts Music in coproduction with ZDF/ ARTE. A film by Friedemann Hottenbacher.

Bernhard Fleischer Moving Images is currently producing a portrait of pianist Yuja Wang. Through the Eyes of Yuja will be realized during 2014 by Anaïs & Olivier Spiro. The film explores what it takes to belong to the new generation of musicians going beyond today's standard request for a flawless technique and superhuman excellence. The exploration of Yuja’s wanderings revels in contradictions. It is a travelogue of exciting venues, glitzy cities and encounters with extraordinary artists, but there is also a downside: fatigue, jet lag, pressure, doubts, hostilities, disorientation, and loneliness. With a bittersweet reference to the transience of life, the film reveals the invisible that complements the visible. Length: approx. 60 min | © 2014, a BFMI production in coproduction with DGG

“Known as the last dictatorship of Europe, you wouldn’t think Belarus would be home to some of the most groundbreaking and provocative theatre productions currently being produced. Going deep into the controversial and dangerous world of the company, we follow stories of passion, expression, risk and reward and discover how this organisation has become one of the most powerful underground movements on the planet today.”

Nine TV Channels from all over the world, Canal+ Poland, Ceska Televize, EESTI, RSI, RTBF, SVT, TFC TVC, VRT are already on board to support the production of the 52 min documentary The Sounds of Sax on the invention of the saxophone, for the bicentenary of Adolphe Sax’s birth in November 2014. Pre-buys are still needed to secure the financing. If you want to take part in this exciting and demanding project, please contact pmazenod@windrose.fr. www.windrose.fr

The Blog Festival Bytes (www.festivalbytes.eu) was initiated as a space for story telling about festivals by the European Festivals Association (EFA), the umbrella organisation for arts festivals across Europe and beyond. It shares the ideas of personalities from the festival and cultural sectors on the role of arts and culture in general and of festivals in particular. The bloggers make us think; they take us behind the scenes of their activities; they share their insights and expertise, exchange their ideas and visions, explore trends and best practices. They inspire us and invite to share our own (digital)

stories. EFA is always looking for (guest) bloggers. Get in touch if you have a festival story to tell! The blogs from Festival Bytes are spread via the European Festivals Association’s newsletter FestFlash. The latest edition gave insights into the Atelier for Young Festival Managers and its incredible new network of festival managers from all over the world, and into festival making around the world. Subscribe here to receive festival news directly in your mailbox. More festival stories are shared by the authors of the EFA BOOKS series which are available on the EFA eShop. www.efa-aef.eu
