DEAR MEMBERS AND FRIENDS,
The last two years have taught us many things, but no lesson was more vital than the importance of a healthy, active network!
Fortunately, 2022 saw our members getting involved in numerous ways, making connections both online and in person! We saw an excellent turnout during our board election for the 2023-25 term, with quite a few new faces awaiting confi rmation in February! I am both honoured and humbled by the many members who will volunteer their time and expertise over the next three years!
We drew inspiration from numerous sources across all sectors, discussing Web 3.0’s potential at Karajan Music Tech, joining the new European transmedial work group CCI Thrive and contributing to events like Classical:NEXT, ICMA and the iEmmys. Golden Prague ITV saw an insightful panel on sustainability and classical music TV, as well as a great awards gala where we bestowed the EBU-IMZ Outstanding Achievement Award to soprano and conductor Barbara Hannigan.
Next Stage! We also contributed a panel to Sunny Side of the Doc, and our IMZ Round Table discussion format once again proved an eff ective sounding board, allowing any member to weigh in– and even suggest new topics for future editions!
As a network, we rose to the challenge of the ongoing Ukraine crisis, with many Members organizing charity events, signing open letters and sourcing funds for artists from the region. We also arranged a new dancescreen, held for the second time alongside our member, Cinedans in Amsterdam. While it’s always a pleasure to promote dance fi lms, it is a special privilege to do so within the IMZ, with many Members contributing to the festival’s program – and its success!

THE IMZ
AN INTERNATIONAL NETWORK DEDICATED TO PROMOTING THE PERFORMING ARTS IN AUDIOVISUAL MEDIA
Based in Vienna, the IMZ International Music + Media Centre was founded under the aegis of UNESCO in 1961 to preserve the performing arts as a cultural asset. Our mission is to promote performing arts in and through audiovisual media, thereby exciting and engaging audiences for music + dance. Our activities are based around these four pillars:
MARKET ACCESS + NETWORK
As an international business network with more than 150 member organisations, we connect creators in the performing arts – the world’s renowned stages, dance companies, operas and concert houses – with the audiovisual sector: film + TV production, distribution, public + private broadcasting and streaming + VOD platforms. Regular industry gatherings and B2B events not only enhance the quality + reach of our network but also serve as a marketplace for music + dance films.
PROFESSIONALISATION
To ensure a sustainable future for this specialised industry, the IMZ spearheads numerous learning + development opportunities. By disseminating information on current trends, providing crucial resources, encouraging knowledge transfer of industry-specific skills, nurturing new talent and offering pitching opportunities, the IMZ acts as a strong interest group for the sector.
AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT
The dissemination of cultural content through audiovisual media offers enormous potential for reaching new audiences. To build on this, the IMZ curates and compiles Music Film Festivals worldwide, as their convivial atmosphere and free admission lower thresholds for attendance. Audience development is therefore a crucial part of the IMZ’s mission.
INNOVATION + NEW BUSINESS MODELS
Innovation and development are deeply embedded in all of the IMZ’s activities. Besides showcasing pioneering technologies and initiating work groups on new approaches + solutions for our specialised industry, we’ve also created Content.Agent, a search engine + digital B2B platform that creates a single global marketplace for film license trading. The IMZ + its members are thereby advancing our own IMZ Standards on Metadata + Copyright for the film industry.

EUROPEAN AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
The IMZ is a tireless champion for both our specialised industry and music in general. But no single organisation is large enough to meet the challenges facing the arts today. We are therefore heavily integrated in both European and international cross-sectoral initiatives whose goals align with ours like CCI Thrive, Cinnovate, Content.Agent and the European Network, and work closely with transnational networks on innovative approaches to challenges like sustainability, digitalisation, streaming, interactivity, copyright and metadata, among many other things.
Our thanks go out to the European Union for doing so much to promote innovation and cultural heritage among its members – and to Creative Europe Media in particular, who supports us in each of their three strands: Culture, Media and Cross-sectoral.
Also, we acknowledge the hard work coming from the numerous initiatives like Spot On MozART, European Agenda for Music, Creative Pact for Skills und Music Moves Europe we’re involved in, as well as the expansive ecosystem of cultural organisations worldwide committed to excellence, creativity and international collaboration. These include (but are by no means limited to): Advantage Austria, the Anna Lindh Foundation, Ars Electronica, BMKOES, ComposerAlliance, Creative Shift, Culture Action Europe, EBU, ECHO, ECSA, EFA European Festival Association, EFM, EMC, European Choral Association, Eurozine, FEDORA, ICMA, IMC, Impala, ISCC, MICA, NEMO, Opera Europa, Stadt Wien Kultur and countless others.
Once again, thank you! Without you, the road we travel would be far more arduous!

AVANT PREMIÈRE MUSIC + MEDIA MARKET VIENNA 2022
Our flagship event, Avant Première, is the most important trade fair for cultural TV content + performing arts in audiovisual media, combining marketplace, conference, exhibition and networking event. 2022 saw it held online for the second time, with our programme streaming live from the Advantage Austria Headquarters in Vienna from 14-17 February. With 320 participants hailing from 37 countries, it proved even more popular than the previous edition, bringing distributors, broadcasters, streaming platforms, producers and artists together for four days that defined the state of the industry.
FRONT ROW SEATS
As always, the Avant Première Screenings were the centrepiece, offering the chance to see the latest music + dance content – before it premieres! Over 70 organisations showed 580 films, with well over 1,000 views driving business and enabling numerous productions to make it to market and shaping the face of cultural media for the next year.
CUSTOMISED PROGRAMME
Our programme focused on the burning issues surrounding our industry, with a special Innovation Day covering the potential – and pitfalls – of new technology. 480 viewers tuned in as six institutions – KlimAktiv, AtlasV, Fraunhofer FOKUS, the Austrian Ministry of Arts + Culture, French Tech Berlin and our very own Content.Agent joined speakers Prof. Amanda D. Lotz and Miranda Harmer to tackle subjects like streaming, sustainable media, virtual reality, going viral, avant-garde digital arts, content innovation and film license trading. In addition, we also hosted Special Presentations on the EU project Cinnovate, a special Europe-wide concert to commemorate ARTE’s 30th anni-
versary and the documentary miniseries “Masters of the Vocalverse” about vocal coach Neil Semer and his students.
CONNECTING THE INDUSTRY
Like the previous year, we extended meetings into the digital realm, allowing easy connections thanks to its online participants list, matchmaking function and personalised agenda – even remotely or on the go. It proved highly effective, allowing for over 1,200 virtual meetings as well as 15 online exhibitors and the full screening programme, all accessible in one place. Our One-on-One Expert sessions were also as popular as ever, with 28 industry professionals offering guidance over 78 individual meetings – either in the category “Meet the Buyers,” or “Meet the Cross-sector Experts.” Networking opportunities were additionally supplemented with mentoring sessions and virtual mingling between programme points.
LOVE, ACTUALLY
Last but not least, we were delighted to host a very special presentation on 14 February, celebrating St. Valentine’s Day with an industry dialogue over the positive aspects of the last two years. Featuring pianist Andreas Fröschl and mezzo-soprano Sofia Vinnik as musical guests, representatives from the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Teatro alla Scala, Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft, VBW International and the Vienna State Ballet weighed in on mastering recent challenges and the things that truly matter: love, music + passion.
Thank you to our many partners, experts, participants and everyone who made this year’s Avant Première a resounding success! We’ll see you in Berlin next time!
DANCESCREEN 2022
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CINEDANS FEST ‘22
Our triennial dance fi lm competition dancescreen demonstrated the state of the art for dance fi lm once again, attracting legions of enthusiastic viewers to the EYE Filmmuseum in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, with a fourday spectacle and reaching even more online!
Held for the second time in cooperation with IMZ Member Cinedans after a successful cooperation in 2010, the festival featured an amazing schedule packed with screenings, panels and special events; special programmes like Ballet Unleashed; Black Dance Matters and Focus: Taiwan; and – of course –networking opportunities galore for the many industry representatives in attendance. The IMZ was especially pleased to see so many of our Members in person again – both at our board + directorate meeting and during the festival! As a special treat, living ballet legend Hans van Manen attended personally just a few weeks before his 90th birthday, and even fi elded questions following the world premiere of the documentary “Hans van Manen – Just Dance the Steps.”
HONORING EXCELLENCE
The screening schedule boasted an astounding 171 fi lms from 79 countries selected from 650 submissions, with many entries from IMZ Members. 40 of them competed for the three jury prizes, with an additional three audience awards reserved for deserving fi lms who won over the crowd.
Competition was tight, with the jury settling on “Dive” by the Scottish Ballet (Best Dance Short); “Memory Loss Inside” by Ann van den Broek (Best Performance Relay & Camera Work); and “STOMPEN” by Thomas Bos (En-
couragement Award); the audience awards went to “Why We Fight?” by Mirjam Devriendt & Alain Platel (Best Documentary); “Mother Melancholia” by Samatha Shay (Best Dance Short) and “POLITICAL MOTHER: The Final Cut” by IMZ Member the Hofesch Shechter Company (Best Live Performance Relay + Camera Rework). Congratulations to the deserving winners!
This year’s trophies were designed by Dutch artist and Vienna resident Martijn Straatman, who crafted sweeping metal arches patterned after a dancer‘s movement, framing stained glass that changes with the light. A fi tting tribute to the creators, choreographers and dancers working at the very forefront of the performing arts!
SUPPORTING OUR INDUSTRY
The IMZ was pleased to bring this momentous event to life with Cinedans, additionally contributing a panel with the EBU – European Broadcast Union on the future of dance on TV, as well as some well-attended One-On-One Expert Meetings and a Pitching Session held alongside Cinedans and NOWNESS, where “Breaking Language” by Sofía Castro emerged as the winner of €1,000 in prize money!
We’d like to thank Cinedans director Martine Dekker and her fantastic team for being such a gracious partner, and the amazing audience that attended; it’s reassuring to see the dance fi lm sector alive and well!

SUNNY SIDE OF THE DOC
A major international marketplace for documentaries and narrative experiences, Sunny Side of the Doc in picturesque La Rochelle, France, draws thousands of industry insiders annually, enabling numerous projects to tell amazing stories by facilitating coproductions and cofi nancing. The IMZ joined up again for their 33rd edition this year, prominently placed amid 2,000 participants from 67 different countries and 1,100 accredited companies in a centrally-located stand alongside Content.Agent, promoting our network and representing the performing arts in fi lm!
In addition, we also contributed a panel discussion on arts + culture streaming and sponsored a special prize for the arts + culture pitches – for the fi fth time running! This year, the IMZ award went to Celtic Utopia, a mu-
sic documentary directed by Dennis Harvey + Lars Lovén and produced by MDEMC: Currently in development, it’s an exploration of contemporary Irish identity via the local musicians who seek to reshape their culture. The production team won three tickets to next year’s Avant Première Music + Media Market in Berlin – we look forward to seeing them there!
As always, the IMZ was happy to represent its members and industry, encouraging new partnerships and collaborations, expanding potential markets, and – above all – supporting documentary fi lmmaking. We can’t wait for the IMZ x Sunny Side of the Doc Pitching Sessions at Avant Première 2023 and look forward to returning to La Rochelle next year!

Hosted by Czech Television and still going strong after 59 editions, Golden Prague ITF is a beloved showcase of the cultural television industry; as in previous years, the IMZ Network maintained a strong presence in 2022! Our outgoing board welcomed the IMZ Board Elect for 2023-25 for an inaugural meeting, while also selecting a new Directorate – to be confirmed alongside the new Board at our General Assembly in February 2023. Later that day, the FEDORA Platform presented the 12 nominees for its Prizes Biennale: We wish them the best of luck in February, when the winners are announced in Paris! Our joint panel with the EBU European Broadcasting Union was another high point, featuring experts from the EBU, London Symphony Orchestra, KlimAktiv, NRK, RTP and SVT exploring “Sustainability + Classical Music TV”. But the main attraction was the Gold-
en Prague Festival Awards, where IMZ Members ARTE, ARTE France, Czech TV, France Télévisions, François Roussillon et Associés, medici.tv, RAI and ZDF were honoured with the Czech Crystal! The IMZ was also part of the ceremony, joining the EBU to present celebrated soprano and conductor Barbara Hannigan with the 2022 EBU-IMZ Outstanding Achievement Award! A champion of contemporary music and supporter of new talent, she is a worthy addition to previous recipients Brian Large, Bruno Monsaingeon, Anca-Monica Pandelea + Gabrielle Babin Gugenheim, Christopher Nupen and Peter Sellars!
Once again, a highly productive Golden Prague! A big Thank You to Czech Television, EBU, FEDORA and all the experts who sat on our panel – here’s to next year’s 60th Edition!

After 33 jurors spent an intense day selecting the best works in the categories “Arts Programming” and “Best Performance by an Actor,” the Vienna section of the 50th International Emmys Semi-Final Round of Judging came to a spectacular end on 12 September with a fantastic Cocktail Prolongé!
A great show of solidarity and unity within the audiovisual sector, numerous luminaries from Europe’s television industry were in attendance, with the picturesque Palais Schönburg and its extensive gardens off ering a fi tting backdrop for this prestigious evening of celebrating the very best in television programming worldwide.

The IMZ International Music + Media Centre Online Services actively encourage innovation by crafting new tools for the benefit of performing arts films, and ultimately, the film and audio industry as a whole. Our mission led us to create Content.Agent, the search engine + film license trading marketplace, as well as the IMZ Standards.
Featuring input from over 140 companies, Content.Agent is a single, unified platform that allows buyers, sellers and distributors to find, negotiate, trade and acquire film licences worldwide. With a powerful search engine and tools for promotion and catalogue placement, Content.Agent uses the IMZ Metadata Standard to categorize content, the ISCC ID - a unique film content identifier – and the European license ledger to ensure transpar-
ent and clear copyright situations, as well as secure digital negotiation rooms and a pitching, coproduction and financing platform. 2022 saw momentous changes as Content. Agent was spun off: staffers Christian von der Recke and Frank Schulleri switched over, bridging the gap between the non-profit IMZ and our new LLC. New technological partners were brought on, while funding was secured by receiving a three-year grant from Creative Europe Media. Content.Agent is now well-positioned to realise its vision for a sustainable media marketplace.
Built by our members, for our members, the IMZ is thrilled at the progress of Content. Agent and encourages our entire industry to join us as we move toward into the future –your commitment is key to our success!

What do data have to do with creativity and culture? A lot, as it turns out: The successor project to Digital Cross Over (2019-2021), CCI Thrive explores technology as a means to increase competitiveness within the creative and cultural sectors, inspiring new business models while boosting revenue + granting insight into audience preferences. In addition, CCI Thrive furthermore accommodates vital aspects of cultural creation such as content, green transition, ethical and cultural values.
Always intrigued by cross-sectoral approaches to the challenges of our industry, the IMZ wholeheartedly embraces this initiative! Co-Funded by the Creative Europe programme and the EU, CCI Thrive is set to run until 2024 and is coordinated by the BGZ Berliner Gesellschaft für internationale
Zusammenarbeit, with high-profile partners like the Ars Electronica festival, the Italian digitization expert Centrica, the Dutch Institute for Sound + Vision, the European gaming accelerator SpielFabrique and the streaming assitant app BetaSeries joining our search for new, innovative solutions.
We were happy to host the first two-day workshop on cross-sectoral cooperation and metadata usage from 28-29 September, welcoming representatives from all of CCI Thrive’s project partners and enjoying highly fruitful discussions! We thank Creative Europe and our partners for their insights and look forward to continued collaboration over the next 24 months, as well as the next two workshops in Berlin and Florence, respectively!
FEDORA PLATFORM
FEDORA DIGITAL PRIZE
A European platform for opera and dance, FEDORA encourages innovation with prestigious prizes and grants. Their Prize Biennale features categories for Opera, Dance, Education and Digital, investing €1.7 million and supporting over 57 new coproductions which boosted the careers of over 900 artists. Always eager to promote cross-sectoral innovation and creativity, the IMZ as Expert Partner has provided – and chaired – the jury for their Digital Prize since 2019. Rewarding novel forms of artistic expression and access to opera and ballet through digital innovation, The FEDORA Digital Prize funds its winners to the tune of €50,000, as well as granting the support of the global consulting fi rm Kearney. The competition heated up in 2022 with many IMZ Members entering, and three nominees for the Digital Prize named in the fall: The Sound Voice Project, a
series of immersive digital opera installations cocreated with partners in healthcare, technology and people who’ve experienced voice loss; SÉISME, a participative physical and online conversation between humans and the Earth; and Erwartung, a VR game that lets you play through Schoenberg’s melodrama as its heroine. The three hopefuls received further support through crowdfunding campaigns on the FEDORA Platform’s homepage before voting for the Audience Prize commences in January 2023; the people’s choice will be announced alongside the 12 winners of the Prizes Biennale on 10 February!
We would like to thank FEDORA again for an amazing partnership, and our members for being so engaged; we can’t wait to see who wins!

VIENNA’S CHILDREN’S OPERA
FESTIVAL
2 July–4 September 2022
Vienna, Austria
www.musicfilmfestivals.com
A key element of our mission to bring the performing arts to new audiences, our IMZ Music Film Festivals make cultural outreach easy, sustaining global dialogue and attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors worldwide. Inspiring audiences with the magic of music, opera and dance films, they fulfil our mission to offer a low-threshold to culture, with free and easy-access screenings.
One of the most renowned examples is the Film Festival at the Wiener Rathausplatz, for which we curate and provide the entire programme: Debuting in 1990, it’s our first and longest-running festival: Boasting an eclectic mix of genres as diverse as classical, world music, jazz, pop, ballet and contemporary dance, a highly popular food court and a weekly opera festival for children, it’s one of
the city’s favourite summer hangouts. Its 32nd edition kicked off on 2 July and went on until 4 September, opening with a recording of We Stand with Ukraine, a charity concert featuring the cream of Austria’s music scene. Many other top-tier recordings were shown over 65 entertaining evenings, including films featuring Queen, Amy Winehouse, Lang Lang featuring Herbie Hancock, John Williams with AnneSophie Mutter + the Vienna Philharmonic, show tunes from the musicals of the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien, productions of Turandot, Fidelio + Carmen and even a delayed live transmission of Rossini’s Il Turco In Italia from the nearby Vienna State Opera!
We’d like to thank all of our partners for yet another enchanting festival, and look forward to many others in 2023, in Vienna and worldwide!

A partnership between media organisations and industry associations including the IMZ, CINNOVATE is a cross-sectoral initiative exploring how cinemas can reach new audiences through digital innovation and new types of content, including performing artsbased media. At the heart of the project are arthouse cinema networks Folkets Hus och Parker (Sweden), access Cinema (Ireland) and Art kino mreža Slovenije (Slovenia) who have established VOD services that include a range of innovative content features. A key objective of the project is to test how online off erings and theatrical exhibition can not only co-exist but nurture each other.
As part of the project, a number of theatres have organized Virtual Reality showcases to attract new audiences. In another work strand,
a VOD platform features fi ne arts-based documentary fi lms to promote similar fi lms that will be exclusively released in theatres.
The IMZ’s role in this EU-funded project is to help source potential digital content from its Member Organisations and explore the emerging event cinema market – opera, ballet and theatre performances screened in cinemas and on their VOD platforms, expand the distribution possibilities for IMZ Members and establish new markets. Thank you to both the European Union and all our project partners for driving innovation in this sector!

IMZ ACADEMY WORKSHOP
“LIVE
MULTI-CAMERA DIRECTING IN CLASSICAL MUSIC”
26-28 April 2022 Gothenburg, Sweden
hosted by Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra
HOST
Peter Maniura, IMZ Academy Director, Freelance Director + Digital Strategist (UK)
EXPERTS
Krišs Russman, Director + Filmmaker Måns Pär Fogelberg, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra
Yvonne Craven, Script Supervisor/Tutor Film + Television training
A master class series for professionals in audiovisual music + dance production, IMZ Academies provide highly practical workshops and interactive seminars. Featuring renowned experts, they facilitate knowledge transfer and establish sustainable, interdisciplinary networks for participants + institutions around the globe.
Covering topics like performance capture, streaming solutions or 360° filming, as well as audience development and marketing strategies for the performing arts in the digital age, they’re held in small groups of up to 30 to ensure that every attendee is fully involved. Practical application and workshop sessions are an important element, allowing participants to tackle concrete challenges and encouraging cross-sectoral exchange.
While an IMZ Academy is an interactive workshop usually taking place over two days, an IMZ Academy Session is a shorter training unit held alongside another institution or event in order to foster synergy + connection.
IMZ ACADEMY WORKSHOP IN GOTHENBURG
Another resounding success, this year’s IMZ Academy Workshop on live multi-camera directing in classical music was hosted by the GSO Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, granting attendees a chance to gather practical, hands-on experience while working with renowned artists!
Preparations began with much anticipation on 5 April, with 16 participants from institutions like BBC Philharmonic, Lumikinos Pro-
IMZ ACADEMY SESSIONS + ROUNDTABLE
duction and the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague joining an initial online tutorial led by award-winning director Peter Maniura. The full-day seminar covered the basics of concert coverage via multiple camera setups with lectures by Maniura and fellow director Krišs Russman, followed by an outline on the role of script supervisor by Yvonne Craven and a brief introduction of the GSO by producer Måns Pär Fogelberg.
But grasping the theory was only the beginning: A few weeks later, participants got to apply themselves on site in Gothenburg, Sweden, further honing their skills over three days by shooting their own concert fi lm featuring the host orchestra alongside world-famous soprano (and EBU-IMZ Outstanding Achievement Award-winner) Barbara Hannigan and acclaimed violinist and conductor John Storgårds.
IMZ ACADEMY X FEDORA NEXT STAGE
Ever eager to foster innovation within the cultural fi eld, our fruitful cooperation with the FEDORA platform continued on 28 June, when we teamed up along with Opera Europa for a joint online course which explored the pitfalls and best practices of delivering cultural content online.
Moderated by IMZ Academy Director Peter Maniura and attended by numerous representatives from renowned opera houses, the course delved into the lessons learned from institutions and individuals with practical experience in commissioning and delivering digital projects, reviewing benchmarks and helping participants draw their own conclusions on how to enter the next stage of digitalization. As always, there was ample time for networking and connecting with fellow attendees.
IMZ ACADEMY SESSION AT KARAJAN MUSIC TECH
Held as part of the IMZ Member Karajan Music Tech’s Conference “NFTs, Web3, DAOs,” this IMZ Academy session refl ected on current practices and standards and put those into comparison with a promising proposition made by the ISCC Foundation.
Titled “Digital Content Management In A Decentralised + Democratised Online World,” it looked at how blockchain technology and web 3.0 can empower users, while also looking at the emerging challenges of identifying and protecting digital assets.
Hosted by IMZ Secretary General Katharina Jeschke and Frank Schulleri of Content.Agent, prominent experts explored current standards and practices before contrasting them with a proposition by the ISCC (International Standard Content Code). We thank Karajan Music Tech and all the experts who attended for a highly productive discussion!
IMZ ROUND TABLES
Held after our regular R&D Research Academies, this members-only format explores current topics highly relevant to our industry, with a panel of experts fi rst weighing in on an issue before opening the conversation to all participants. This year, we tackled “The New Power of Music Labels” on 21 April, followed by a lively discussion on balancing growth and fi nancial concerns in “Money Makes the World Go Round?” on 5 October.
All IMZ Members are encouraged to participate and share their experiences with the network, facilitating exchange and keeping everyone up to date on the state of the art – be sure to join next time!

Featuring expert juries drawn from major industry players, they allow fi lmmakers to present before an audience of their peers and receive immediate feedback.
In addition, our One-On-One Expert Sessions are held in a fast-paced, speed dating format, pairing presenters with buyers, broadcasting executives and producers in order to promote new projects, enable new ventures and foster emerging + established talent.
SUNNY SIDE OF THE DOC/PIXII FESTIVAL + IMZ PITCHING SESSIONS
The IMZ joined forces for the third time with
Sunny Side of the Doc / PiXii Festival, the market place for documentary + narrative experiences, hosting sessions for both “Performing Arts Documentary” and “Digital Creation.” With the chance to take your project to Sunny Side of the Doc in June, the 8 pre-selected 15-minute pitches met with unbridled enthusiasm, and were eventually narrowed down to 2 winners: “This Is Not A Kanga” by Wonder Maria in the former category and “Alternates (Bergantian)” by CinemaLeap Inc. in the latter.
PITCHING SESSION IMZ X CINEDANS X NOWNESS
This year, Cinedans teamed up with arts + culture channel NOWNESS and the IMZ to off er creators a forum to submit new dance fi lm proposals: an amazing 52 projects were submitted from all over the world, with 7 fi nal-
ists selected to pitch at Cinedans FEST ’22. A lucky winner eventually emerged, earning €1,000 and a showcase on all partner platforms: “Breaking Language” by Sofía Castro. Congratulations once again!
ONE-ON-ONE EXPERT SESSIONS AT AVANT PREMIÈRE 2022
Held online for the second year, Avant Première’s One-On-One Expert Sessions were divided in two to best refl ect the fi elds of expertise of the 20 respective experts: Hopefuls could either learn what broadcasters and streaming services want straight from the source at “Meet the Buyers,” or talk to major fi gures from neighbouring industries, sharing information and experiences at “Meet the Cross-Sector Experts.”
ONE-ON-ONE EXPERT SESSIONS AT DANCESCREEN
Our triennial dance fi lm competition, dancescreen, hosted an additional Expert Session tailored to dance fi lm creators seeking to broaden their network, receive feedback and fi nd international partners! Held in Amsterdam this year in cooperation with IMZ Member Cinedans FEST, eight industry insiders off ered up their time and expertise, ten minutes at a time.
Once again, we were overwhelmed by all the positive responses and look forward to many more sessions to come! Thanks to all our members for providing experts and helping our industry grow!
