Christmas Concert With Ruth Ziesak The Renaissance town of Marienberg at the very heart of the historic Erzgebirge has been the setting for a concert of classical and seasonal works on 1 December 2012. The Sächsische Bläserphilharmonie, Germany’s only classical orchestra made up exclusively of wind instruments, strives for the highest musical standards in a spirit of fidelity to the works in its repertory. The Rundfunk-Jugendchor Wernigerode is one of Germany’s leading youth choirs and is known for its homogeneous textures and transparent sonorities. These two distinguished ensembles have been joined by the prominent German soprano Ruth Ziesak. A Production of Accentus Music in co-production with MDR in co-operation with Arte

The leading Danish bass and Wagner specialist Stephen Milling will appear as Gurnemanz. Live signal will be available (on request)! NEW PRODUCTIONS The UNITEL Wagner catalogue contains three complete Ring cycles: the groundbreaking Ring by Patrice Chéreau for the first time in High Definition, produced at the Bayreuth Festival, the equally famous “Kupfer Ring” by Harry Kupfer, also from Bayreuth, and the critically acclaimed “Ring of the 21st Century” by FURA DELS BAUS from Valencia. Of course, UNITEL offers master interpretations of all the other great Wagner operas, from Rienzi to Parsifal, too. Verdi A clear highlight of the Verdi year will be the performance of the Verdi Requiem from Teatro alla Scala in Milan with Anja Harteros, Elīna Garanča, Jonas Kaufmann and René Pape, accompanied by the Chorus and Orchestra of La Scala and their principal conductor Daniel Barenboim. With TUTTO VERDI, for the first time ever, all 26 Verdi operas are available in High Definition and with Surround Sound. UNITEL – in collaboration with Teatro Regio di Parma where most of the operas have been produced as well as with RAI, Dynamic and further theatres – has recorded the series over the past years. A unique project! The documentary “Verdi’s backyard” (52’) presents the home region of Giuseppe Verdi, the area in and around Bussetto and Parma, where Verdi was born and has spent most of the time of his life. Of course, the regular Verdi Catalogue is equally compelling, featuring the legendary UNITEL films by Jean-Pierre Ponnelle, Franco Zeffirelli and Jérôme Savay. With a stellar cast featuring Luciano Pavarot-
ti, Edita Gruberová, Leontyne Price, Renato Bruson, Leo Nucci, Ruggiero Raimondi, Mirella Freni, Plácido Domingo, Anna Netrebko and Rollando Villazón, led by conductors like Herbert von Karajan, Riccardo Muti, Georg Solti, Riccardo Chailly, James Levine and Lorin Maazel. Verdi And Wagner In Verdi and Wagner (6 x 25’ and 1 x 52’, produced by makido film for ZDF/Arte), we get to know all about the two masterminds, somewhat rivals at the time, who tragically never met each other in their lifetime. The Salzburg Festival will celebrate the two composers with new productions of Don Carlos, Falstaff, Die Meistersinger and others... Please contact UNITEL for all matters concerning pre-sales and coproductions and/or C Major Entertainment, Unitel’s exclusive distribution partner, for further information and sales.

Musically – Culinary Gioacchino Rossini – The Swan of Pesaro (45’, HD) Musically – Culinary is a successful series of rather unconventional documentaries that follow the trails of famous composers. The brand-new eighth episode is about Gioacchino Rossini, also called “The Swan of Pesaro“, named after his place of birth. In Pesaro he spent his teens and started his great career as a composer of operas. This is also the place where he had his first culinary experiences… The documentary is a journey through the province Marken and the town Pesaro that were forming Rossini’s life as a composer, Bonvivant and Gourmet-Gourmand forever. Springtime in Vienna 2013 (90’, HD) The annual concert Springtime in Vienna marks Fabio Luisi’s last season as chief conductor. On this occasion, the outgoing music director of the Wiener Symphoniker presents a programme of personal favorites from his homeland Italy, like Puccini and Verdi: an evocative potpourri of concerted pieces, plus music from opera and film scores. Of course, there will also be a lot of Rossini… For further information on these and many other precious music
