N EWSL ET TER IMZ MEMBER NEWS NEW PRODUCTIONS MSM-STUDIOS Taking Solti’s Historic Ring To A Whole New Dimension Der Ring des Nibelungen Released By Decca Classics On Pure Audio Blu-Ray After over 30 Pure Audio Blu-rays for various labels, msm-studios have just authored their first Pure Audio Blu-ray for a major label: the world famous recording of Sir Georg Solti’s Der Ring des Nibelungen on Decca. The Pure Audio Blu-ray – developed by the technical team at msm-studios – is an innovative part of a luxury edition to celebrate what would have been Sir Georg’s 100th Anniversary. The Pure Audio Blu-ray stands among a vast array of features in the box: from the Ring on 14 CDs, and an introduction to the piece by Wagner scholar Deryck Cooke on 2 CDs, to a facsimile of Sir Georg’s original score of the Ride of the Valkyrie, unseen photographs from the recording session, and the BBC documentary The Golden Ring on DVD. The Pure Audio Blu-ray holds the 24-bit remastered version of this "greatest recording of all time" (BBC Music Magazine, January 2012). To navigate through the four operas that make up the Ring, an original concept using the colour buttons on the BD-player remote control has been developed. Instead of audio streams, the four individual operas are allocated to the colour buttons. Therefore, like all Pure Audio Blu-rays authored by msm-studios, this release can be used without a screen, in a process that is as simple as using a CD player… Find out more at www.pureaudio-bluray.com and www.msm-studios.com.

The winners have been announced in London on 27 September. “Simply buy it, mortgaging the cat if need be”, urges Classical Music its readers. Therefore, there is no surprise that this production has also been rewarded with a Diapason D’Or this September.
