ACCENTUS MUSIC First Ever TV Portrait Of Riccardo Chailly In December 2013, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan confirmed that Riccardo Chailly will become Principal Guest Conductor on 1 January 2015, and will go on to become musical director of the world-famous opera house in 2017. Chailly has been chief conductor of the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig since 2005, and in summer 2013 he extended his collaboration until June 2020. Since its foundation, ACCENTUS Music has been producing a large number of concert recordings and documentaries with Riccardo Chailly for TV and DVD and last year produced the first ever film portrait of the outstanding Italian conductor: Music – a journey for life. The conductor Riccardo Chailly. The film by Paul Smaczny was coproduced by MDR in co-operation with ARTE and was supported by Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung. It will air on ARTE on 23 March 2014. On 4 March, ARTE and the Leipzig Gewandhaus will present a preview screening in the Gewandhaus in presence of Riccardo Chailly.

ALLEGRO FILMS Bruckner’s Boldest Symphony New On DVD And Blu-Ray

ACCENTUS Music continues the release of its cycle Bruckner – The Mature Symphonies with Daniel Barenboim and the Staatskapelle Berlin. After the Symphonies No. 4 and 5, both extremely well received by critics, Bruckner’s rarely performed 6th Symphony will be released in January 2014 on DVD and Blu-ray. The concert recording from Philharmonie Berlin was produced by ACCENTUS Music in co-production with Unitel Classica. Find the trailer and more information on this release here. www.accentus.com

Daniil Trifonov Allegro has completed the second shoot with Daniil Trifonov: „It went very well in an exceptionally happy spirit which we hope will be reflected in the finished film...“, Christopher Nupen says. „This is a film about the most talked-about piano talent in the world today and one that several people have said the world has not seen in 100 years.“ Allegro Films will present an excerpt of the film at the Avant Première 2014 MUSIC + MEDIA MARKET BERLIN. According to Martha Argerich, one of the world’s most respected pianists – and one of the most difficult to please, “Trifonov has everything and more. What he does with his hands is both technically and musically unbelievable. It is also his touch — he has tenderness plus also the demonic element. I have never heard anything like this before”. Argerich’s words are echoed by the public, by musicians and by the critics, one of whom, Anne Midgette — among the most demanding critics in the USA — likens the 22-year-old Trifonov to a present day Liszt… For further information, please contact Nupallegro@gmail.com. www.allegrofilms.com

Christoph Willibald Gluck Orfeo Ed Euridice The completely preserved Baroque theatre of Cesky Krumlov provides an ideal backdrop for this production of Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice. Director Ondrej Havelka chooses a cinematic approach that literally takes us behind the scenes. In the role of Orfeo, Bejun Mehta lends credibility to the emotions tormenting his heart. As Euridice, Eva Liebau juggles joy and jealousy as the beloved who doesn’t realize just how lucky she is. Bringing comic relief to the work’s dark tone is Regula Mühlemann as Amor.

The film Richard Strauss and his Heroines goes on an exciting journey discovering the women in Strauss’ life. In the focus is primarily his relationship with the choleric and chronically jealous Pauline, to whom he was married for over 55 years up to his death. Until today, she is seen as a

harridan who often embarrassed her husband in public. It hereby falls under the table that Strauss at the beginning and the end of his relationship composed his finest songs for the trained singer who gave up her career for him and covered his back for the rest of his life.
