Dear Readers Welcome to the August issue of
Inside this month’s issue pg 30
In and Around Denham Another fairly eventful month, with Sammy being offered her new permanent home and the usual matter of days to plan the move and once again pack everything up, ship it a few miles down the road and unpack it all again. They say moving is one of the most stressful lifetime events, and given this is her third move in as many months, it’s safe to say, we’ve all been pretty stressed. Thankfully, this was her final move, at least for a few years, so a few wines have been drunk in celebration and life can hopefully settle back into something a little less chaotic. Sammy and Summer-Hope are two very happy residents of Denham and we’re two happy parents, with a tidy home once again and our little family now just a stone’s throw away! I’m still harbouring a dream of a few days back in sunny Portugal next month, but darling daughter’s moving and birthday may have just depleted the bank of Mum and Dad for now. Sadly, the dream is being placed on hold awaiting financial recovery. In the meantime, I’ve been quite happy relaxing in my garden in the evenings with the requisite chilled glass of wine, a bbq dinner, which thankfully I don’t have to cook, and my newly acquired garden gadgets. Yes, remote controlled solar lights. Perfect holiday ambience, at a snippet of the price. Until next month .Angela & Sammy

Dear Resident,
2019 08
LOCAL PLAN Last month, if you had previously registered your email address with us, you would have received our notice about the Chiltern and South Bucks ‘6 weeks consultation’ on the Local Plan. Whilst we were aware that they were proposing to use the car boot field to build offices and a hotel, the removal of three villages from the Green Belt, Denham Village, Higher Denham and Tatling End, was a major blow to us. Many of us moved into one or another part of Denham because we wanted to live in a village community. This is being destroyed by the faceless planners in Amersham. Meanwhile, we think due to public opinion, they have extended the Consultation period out to the 23 August 2019. We hope this extension will encourage more residents to write or email their objections to the plans. Please see the page opposite which outlines how you can participate in this process. We will need residents support if and when it comes to a Public Inquiry. If we haven’t got your email address and you want us to keep you informed of the steps we are taking, please email us at clerk@denhambucks-pc.gov.uk and request to be put on our residents emailing list. We assure you that we do not share our email list with anyone. FLOODING As previously reported we have been working closely with Transport for Bucks (TfB) to try and identify the drainage problems on the A40, Denham and the A412 Denham Way. TfB have been labouring over the last couple of weeks cleaning the gullies and associated drains along these two roads to ensure that all are clear and working properly. Once they have been checked and cleared a full report will be available identifying any problems and any remedial works required. These will then be programmed for attention by the TfB engineers. We are hoping that the works being performed at this time, will solve the major flooding issues that we have been affected by for several months, thereby making our roads safer, particularly the A40. More good news is that we have been informed that the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government have allocated £3,650 for both the Way & Tillard and Knighton Way Lane Play Areas for improvements to some ancillary facilities, maintenance, accessibility, security and 36
safety, signage and accessibility. These improvements will be introduced over the autumn. In addition to this, we have been allocated money by Buckinghamshire County Council Local Area Fund to provide an additional Outdoor Gym and we are currently looking for the best place to site this equipment. Current suggestions are either Tatlng End or Knighton Way Lane playing fields. We would welcome residents’ views and to receive comments if you have taken the opportunity to experience the existing Outdoor Gym at the Way & Tillard. The two Gyms will have different types of exercise equipment but will be linked to the Personal App provided. If you have concerns over pot holes, flooding, trees, bollards etc., please use the TfB website ‘fix my street’. It is very user friendly. You just enter the postcode and it brings up a map. Jazz on the Green - We look forward to you joining us on Sunday 18 Aug, for the next event which will feature the ‘Tracy O’Connor quartet’. This will be at a slightly earlier time than usual 1:30pm to 4:30pm so please let your friends and neighbours know. We are planning to install Defibrillators around the communities in Denham and are currently negotiating with suppliers to get the most beneficial deal. Defibrillation is a treatment for lifethreatening cardiac dysrhythmias, specifically ventricular fibrillation (VF) and non-perfusing ventricular tachycardia (VT). A defibrillator delivers a dose of electric current to the heart. You are welcome to attend our Monthly (except August) Parish Council meetings that are held at 7.30pm in the Parish Office located at the rear of the Denham Village Memorial Hall off Cheapside Lane. If you are interested in your neighbourhood, perhaps you would care to join us as a Councillor or Associate? We are actively looking for new members to join our committees or Volunteers willing to regularly check and report to us on their area. So if you have a few hours a week spare how about considering joining us? If you would like to discuss the roles available to see if they suit you, please call or email and l would be happy to chat about what would be involved. Marilyn Heath Chairman, Denham Parish Council
Removal of our Green Belt YOUR VIEW COUNTS Denham Parish Council recommends all residents read the South Bucks and Chiltern Draft Local Plan. It proposes to take land out of the Green Belt for the development of offices and a hotel on the Denham roundabout (car boot site). In addition the three settlements of Denham Village, Higher Denham and Tatling End will also be removed of the Green Belt. Details of the plan can be found at www.southbucks.gov.uk/planning/localplan Please note: · You don’t need to fill in the online form – you can object in writing or direct email to planning.policy@chilternandsouthbucks.gov.uk · Your objection needs to be submitted by midnight on Friday 23rd August 2019 – so do it now! · You can’t be expected to read through all the documents, but we urge you to object to the Local Plan, please find some information below that you might find useful. We have pointed out some key issues below and we urge you to object in your own words. 1. -
Development of land North of Denham roundabout: (current car boot field where an office and hotel are being proposed) An unnecessary destruction of Green Belt when brownfield sites elsewhere have been under utilised It will damage and deface the entrance to Denham Country Park & Colne Valley Park Visitor Centre It will cause traffic chaos at the already busy junction of the A40 and M40
2.
The removal of 3 Denham settlements from the Green Belt: (Denham Village, Higher Denham and Tatling End)
-
It is unnecessary It is a clear breach of government Green Belt policies It is against Bucks County Council policy to protect the Green Belt A review by Bucks County Council of Green Belt sites rejected taking the settlements out of Greenbelt The mitigation measures are vague and not evidence based The detailed Sustainability Appraisal which informs the Local Plan makes no mention of Higher Denham but it is included in the settlements removed from the green belt
-
Housing South Bucks has been asked to take 59% of the housing allocation for both Chiltern and South Bucks where Chiltern is the largest area. Beaconsfield and Iver, both abutting Denham, have large housing allocations and the traffic from these developments will add to the already congested Denham roundabout to the M40, A40 and the A4020 Your objection should be submitted to planning.policy@chilternandsouthbucks.gov.uk and must include your name, postal address, telephone and email. When you make your objection, would you please also email a copy in the Parish Council on info@denhambucks-pc.gov.uk Marilyn Heath Chairman, Denham Parish Council 37
