Dear Readers Welcome to the October issue of
Inside this month’s issue
In and Around Denham Well Summer is well and truly over and the garden furniture and barbeque have gone back into retirement for a few months. As a possible second lockdown continues to threaten, I can only imagine it would feel very different to the first one. I really appreciated spending so much time outside in my garden enjoying the beautiful weather. I’m not sure being stuck indoors would be quite the same. Maybe I’ll plan a few indoor projects so that I don’t get tempted into becoming a sofa surfer. I’ve not been overly inspired to go shopping recently, but I have noticed that they’re filled with Halloween goodies and Christmas decorations, which gives hope of some normality, albeit these celebrations will likely still have restrictions around them. One thing that hasn’t changed is my usual reluctance to put away the flip flops and exchange them for boots, although if the new going out is to actually stay in, then slippers may well be my staple footwear for the coming weeks. I guess there’s always a positive in everything haha! Don’t forget to put your clocks back at 2am on Sunday 25th so you can enjoy that extra hour in bed. Until next month .Angela & Sammy

Dear Resident
October 2020
It’s October already and as we move towards the winter months we may continue to face challenges! Lockdown and movement restrictions are in place again and we must all make our best efforts to comply to help bring this virus under control. We urge Parishioners to continue to follow the government guidance and continue to help one another. Parish Events The present situation has curtailed all community events for the rest of the year but with Remembrance Sunday and Christmas approaching we will do our best to commemorate and celebrate in line with government guidance. BRAND NEW! Youth Project The Parish Council, in partnership with Buckinghamshire Council’s Youth Service and the sports charity Leap, is launching a brand new project for young people in Denham. We are starting these FREE sessions for those aged twelve and over at New Denham Community Centre on Oxford Road and the Knighton Way recreation field when weather permits. The Fitness Garden will offer a range of fun, games and sports activities with an opportunity to meet other young people and improve mental wellbeing. The sessions will take place every Thursday from 4pm to 6pm starting on Thursday 1st October 2020. For more information or to book please email chat@thefitnessgarden.com or just turn up! This project falls under essential activities for wellbeing and strict Covid precautions will be in place. Denham in Bloom The Council is delighted with the positive feedback from residents following the installation of new flower planters and baskets around Denham. Summer is coming to an end and we will shortly be changing the planting to winter plants so keep your eye on the baskets they will be full all year round. The Council are also looking to pilot new wildflower verges within Denham Green, supporting bees and wildlife in the area. We are starting preparation in October, ready for bloom in Spring and summer next year. 16
We are committed to continue our efforts to make Denham a pleasant place to live. Potholes and Roads Have you noticed any issues on your street that could be dangerous or need maintenance? It is easy to report issues directly to Buckinghamshire Council. If possible, take a picture of the problem and upload it onto their designated web page https://www.fixmystreet.buckscc.gov.uk/ First Community Litter Picks a Success! To help keep Denham looking clean, tidy and a pleasant place for both residents and visitors, the Parish Council called for residents to step forward and volunteer for community litter picks as part of the Great British September Clean. The weekend was successful with litter picks taking place across the whole of Denham. If you would like to get involved in our next litter pick please call 01895 834709 or email. Have you any suggestions to make residents and visitors more aware of dropping litter? enquiries@denhambucks-pc.gov.uk. See some of our volunteers on the website. Would you like to get involved? During lockdown the Parish Council have continued to work throughout on projects and meetings as usual. Our meetings can all be viewed online via Zoom video conferencing. Please take a look at our website for upcoming meetings and details on how to view our Council meetings at www.denhambucks-pc.gov.uk Action Taken in Gladwin’s Wood, Tatling End Following several months of complaints and feedback from residents the Parish Council can report that Enforcement action has finally been taken by Buckinghamshire Council against Gladwin’s Wood in Tatling End.
