Dear Readers Welcome to the August issue of

Inside this month’s issue

In and Around Denham It was great to be back in business last month and successfully make our way through your doors again. It certainly wasn’t without its challenges, but like most businesses, we’ve had to learn to adapt and make things work. It’s great to see just how resilient and creative many people have been when it comes to finding ways to keep running and offer their services. Indeed, I think for a lot of us, the lockdown period allowed time for planning and improving things, as for once we weren’t caught up in the day to day general operations. Time is a valuable asset and whilst effectively being forced to stop working for three months was far from ideal, I personally am grateful for the once in a lifetime break that it provided and a pared down, simpler way of living for a while. Retirement has become just that little bit more enticing. On the downside, it looks like no Summer holidays abroad for us this year, so I’ll just have to spend more time enjoying my garden and as many barbeques as possible. Here’s wishing you all a safe and happy August! Until next month

Dear Resident

August 2020

As we move into the summer break and lockdown restrictions start to lift it is a time to enjoy the great outdoors and explore the incredible green spaces we have in Denham. Denham Village Green Denham Village Green has always been the local landmark for the Parish. The Village Green Trust was established in 1952 by the Rev. Herbert Ward and the Parish Council is now the sole Trustee. The Village Green makes a valuable amenity contribution to the community and enhances the character of the Village. Attractive trees, many with preservation orders and five memorial benches allow for quiet enjoyment within this conservation area. Over the years, the Parish Council has been supporting the upkeep of the Village Green keeping the grass neatly mown. It has identified that the benches and railings are now in need of repair and maintenance to keep them in a safe condition for the enjoyment of the whole of the parish. The Council will be writing to residents in the near future to ask for their support to help keep the Village Green in good condition and looking pleasant and welcoming for both residents and visitors. If you would like to regularly contribute towards the upkeep of the Village Green please email enquiries@denhhambucks-pc.gov.uk Denham Community Support Denham Community Support group continue to offer a lifeline to vulnerable residents in Denham, collecting medication, shopping and also running the new Food Bank during the Covid-19 crisis.

you have any suggestions on events and activities that will bring the community together please do not hesitate to contact us. Around The Parish With Covid-19 restrictions lifting, the contractors are now fully operational and will be regularly maintaining the grass verges. The Parish Council has had positive feedback from residents in Willowbank that the grass verges are looking better than ever. High standards are our aim across the Parish and close working with our contractors will achieve this. Our handyman is continuing to clean and brighten up Denham. The Parish Council is responsible for cleaning out the bus stops and maintaining the play areas. If you spot any issues please report them to us by telephone or email. We will be working hard through the summer to remove graffiti from our bus stops to keep the Parish looking clean and tidy. Denham in Bloom! It is a delight to report that we have had some excellent feedback from residents following our installation of new flower planters in Denham Green and the A40. Further installations will be going into Tatling End, New Denham and Higher Denham in the coming weeks. We hope that the flowers will give rise to optimism and enjoyment as we come out of lock down. We want our residents to feel proud of Denham and for it to be a pleasant place for people to live and work.
