Dear Readers Welcome to the September issue of In and Around Iver I honestly can’t remember a year during which so much has happened and yet, at the same time has flown by so quickly. Just as a reminder, here are some of the crazy things that have happened so far this year: Bushfires across Australia, Iranian General Qasem Soleimani was killed in a US drone strike, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle step down from their duties as senior royals, Iran launched ballistic missiles at two military bases in Iraq, A Ukrainian flight crashed in Tehran killing all 176 passengers, Kobe and Gigi Bryant died in a helicopter crash, The UK withdrew from the EU, Trump was acquitted by the Senate on both articles of impeachment, Harvey Weinstein was convicted after a trial lasting weeks, the WHO declared the coronavirus a pandemic, The DOW took its worst drop since 1987, Netflix documentary the Tiger King, made Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin household names, The Summer Olympics was cancelled until next year, The UK and many parts of the world spent weeks in lockdown, The Pentagon released videos of possible UFOs, Giant insects called Murder Hornets were reported, George Floyd was killed by a police officer, causing protests across the world, wearing facemasks has become the norm. Who knows what’s next! Until next month .Angela & Sammy

Dear Residents,

Community Kindness Kits The programme has now ended with the final deliveries going out on Friday 28th August. It is probably safe to say that when the programme kicked off no-one would have expected to have been going 5 months later! We were able to continue making up the parcels due to the continued support from the community and by securing funds from a number of organisations. Our volunteer team have been fantastic and have undertaken a wide range of tasks from picking up donations from shops locally, sorting donations received, packing, loading and delivering the parcels. Our delivery drivers have had many a doorstep chat and from the thank you notes received we know their smiles and chat were just as welcome as the parcel. We don’t have the space here to thank everyone individually but will be highlighting those individuals and local businesses over the next few weeks who donated time, products and money.

Meetings – Virtual meetings continue September is a busy month with all our main committees meeting. You can join on most devices by clicking on the link for that meeting which is included in the Agenda for the meeting. The agenda goes on the website and noticeboards around a week before the meeting. It has been great to see so many people joining the Zoom meetings and we hope that continues. Public participation is an agenda item right at the start of the meetings, so if you have questions about any of the agenda items to ask, please join early as once the meeting moves on past that item there is no further chance to ask questions. This mirrors what happens in a physical meeting.

Dates for this month: Full Council: 7th September Amenities: 9th September Planning: 15th September Highways and Infrastructure: 16th September Policy and Finance: 23rd September All are open to the public via Zoom and commence at 6:00 p.m. 28

richingspark.com Contact : chairman@richingspark.com Tel: 654010 Heathrow Sally Munn We have heard that the planning application for the move of the incinerator plant has been withdrawn by the applicant. This is an indication that they don’t see a need to relocate and/or Heathrow are refusing to fund it anymore. Committee At a ZOOM meeting last month Shantanu Tandon was elected as Treasurer, replacing Matthew McEvoy who is now in the process of moving house out of the area. Thanks goes to Matthew for his work in that role for the past 3 years. Ged Weston was elected as Vice-Chair replacing the late Maureen Worrall. Bathurst Walk East/ Bathurst Close We welcome Helen Pennie as the new Road Steward for this section of Bathurst Walk. Matthew McEvoy continues as Road Steward for Bathurst Walk West. Link Park and Thorney Sidings A link to the proposal to redevelop this area is on our website. Neighborhood Plan A small team has been put together to look at the details of how this will affect Richings Park and to provide a voice for us. Further details of how the team will interface with all the residents will be published shortly. Annual General Meeting All depends upon the government rulings on when gatherings like this are safe to take place. Subscriptions As well as accepting cash or cheques as before, our website also allows for on-line subscription payments. Our current financial year started on April 1st, 2020. Residents Garden and Shopping Precinct If you would like to support the upkeep of the Residents Garden and the planter tubs by the shops, you can buy a lottery ticket from the South Bucks and Chilterns Lottery. This means that if you buy a lottery ticket from their website and nominate us as your chosen cause then we receive 50p per ticket which we are putting towards the cost of upkeep for the garden. Tickets can only be purchased on-line at www.chilternsouthbuckslottery.co.uk
