Dear Readers Welcome to the February issue of

Inside this month’s Bumper issue

In and Around Iver And I’m pleased to say another month closer to Spring time, longer days and brighter weather. I’m really looking forward to being able to get back out into the garden and start tidying up the borders and giving the bbq a polish. Those who know me well won’t be surprised by this. Last year I bought a patio heater / light just to extend my time outside. Thanks to this amazing little piece of kit, we had our first bbq in March and our last one in October. I’m no fan of sitting around indoors all day and would happily cook outdoors all the time if I could. I’m also looking forward to my annual weekend away with the girlies to Butlins no less. A tradition we’ve carried out for many years now, although with every year, I wonder how much longer I can keep up with the four days of heavy drinking and late nights. No doubt I’ll keep up as ever, but the recovery time may well be extended. In the meantime, while we’re waiting for warmer weather and time outdoors, there’s Valentines Day to celebrate and pancakes to be eaten! Until next month... Angela & Sammy

Urgent Appeal TILDA & DINKY have gone missing from Uxbridge Football Club, nr Stockley Park, Horton Road, West Drayton UB7. Have you seen them or do you have any information? Both are much loved and Dinky needs daily medication. Full details and contact numbers on DogLost: http://www.doglost.co.uk/dog-blog.php? dogId=123739 http://www.doglost.co.uk/dog-blog.php? dogId=123738 If you regularly see foxes in your garden, they have probably already found a good food supply in the area and foxes are excellent scavengers. How can I deter foxes from using my garden? Remove access to potential food sources, keep garages and shed doors closed, are just some please visit the RSPCA main website for more information. Foxes call throughout the year, but normally only howl or scream during the mating season, which peaks in January. Children’s Playground

We have now reached our funding target and the equipment will be installed soon. A demonstration session will be held around then to introduce it to those interested. This will probably be held at the Sports Club.

The funding for this now looks certain although we cannot officially announce this due to publicity restrictions imposed by the donor in the short term. The search for tenders is now underway and is likely to complete by the time you are reading this article. Current target is to have the facility installed by the end of April.

Heathrow Heathrow have announced the dates of their initial consultations on how the new runway will be built provided, of course, that they get the OK from Government. The session for us will be on March 2nd at the Sports Club from 12 noon to 9:00pm. The important point to pick up on for this is that they need to find a home for the displaced businesses from the Bath road and the Poyle Industrial Estate. They have therefore identified plots of green belt and brownfield land in Richings Park that they would like to acquire for this. This is our opportunity to tell them where they can put this idea!

These are now well overdue for year April 2017March 2018. Please use the envelopes provided and return your subscription to either your road steward or to Costcutter stores.

We are now working on our next Newsletter which should come out in the next month or so. This will be available at Costcutter Stores.

Following the acquisition of the old police station by Iver Parish Council we can now confirm that Iver Community Libraries have been offered use of some shared space to create a library. Bucks County Council library services have also offered their support to this initiative. The library will be an associate of the library service and not a full Community Library in the manner that Iver Heath is. That is to say that it will be a point to pick up and collect books but it will not stock a range of titles from the library service to browse through. As their plans develop more information will be provided.

THE ADVENTURES OF MR TOAD CRASHING INTO IVER VILLAGE HALL IN JUNE Iver’s award-winning amateur theatre company The Richings Players are delighted to announce their 2018 summer production, the much-loved classic tale of Mr Toad and his band of river bank friends in “The Wind in the Willows”. This delightful and ingenious adaptation of Kenneth Grahame's classic tale of river-bank antics by Alan Bennett with original and enchanting songs by Jeremy Sams created a sensation at the National Theatre in the 1990s and follows the adventures of Mr Toad, Ratty, Mole and Badger. Along the way, Toad finds himself in prison and manages to escape, but not before Toad Hall, his pride and joy, has been overrun by the wicked Weasels. Thanks to the efforts of his kind and concerned friends, all ends happily, after an exciting battle to regain Toad's home but will Toady learn his lesson? The play will be directed by RP Vice-Chairman Will Torrent who last directed “Robin Hood” in 2011. Ever since Will saw the National’s magical production at The Old Vic in the 1990s, he has always has always loved the story and has always wanted the Players to perform it. He will be joined by Erica Tugwell as Musical Director and Phoebe Pearson-
