Dear Readers

Inside this month’s issue

Welcome to the June issue of In and Around Iver And already nearly half way through the year. Having returned from a week in sunny Portugal, it was quite a shock to land back here on a rather cold and wet night, knowing that in the morning I would be back at the computer desperately trying to catch up. There’s a lot to be said for taking a break and recharging your batteries. It seems that whilst I was left with little time to get the usual month’s work done, my newly found energy meant I flew threw things at twice the usual pace and with renewed enthusiasm. Maybe it was the sunshine, possibly the sangria, but whatever it was, I’ll be booking my next break very soon.

The weather here has been lovely this last couple of weeks and having gone straight into garden tidying mode, things are shaping up and the usual array of pots and baskets are growing nicely on the patio. Unfortunately little SummerHope finds soil and compost irresistible, and likes to scoop out heaps of the stuff from the containers, because it obviously looks so much better strewn around the patio or used to decorate the poor dog as she walks past. Only the coming weeks will tell whether my geraniums will still be sporting flowers, or if they’ll be joining the compost on the floor.

Consider Yourself One of the Family? The Tony and Olivier Award-winning show is one of the few musicals to win an Academy Award for Best Picture and is widely hailed as a true theatrical masterpiece by actors and audience members alike. It was performed by the Players, nearly 20 years ago in 2000. Director Lisa says; “For as long as long as I can remember, I’ve been obsessed with musicals and “Oliver” in particular. When I heard there was an opportunity to direct for the Players, I grasped it with both hands! Although a cast for all ages, I have a desire for children to be front and centre of the production, as I believe confidence and friendship that can be gained through being in a production such as this, can last a life time! I speak from experience. My excitement at embarking on the search for Oliver, Dodger, Nancy and all Iver’s award-winning amateur theatre the cast is palpable and I look forward to welcompany The Richings Players are coming many old and new faces, helping them to consider themselves part of the Richings looking to pick a pocket or two as Players family!”

This coming November will mark thirty-five years since Ashford Kitchens & Interiors was first established. Along the way, we’ve developed our knowledge of kitchens, bedrooms and home-offices and we’ve carried out thousands of bespoke installations around the local area. We’ve expanded our team while remaining, at the core, a family-run business. Every passing year, we have grown and we’ve loved every moment of it.

The company continues to expand from its humble origins as a family owned and family run business. The Flowers still operate the two showrooms and Ashford remains a local, friendly, family-run business. Last year the Ashford Middlesex kitchen showroom was relaunched after undergoing a three-month refurbishment that saw ten new kitchen displays, nine modern bedroom and home-office displays as well as an entirely new shopfront. Stephen summarised Ashford’s desire to keep developing and renewing Ashford’s two showrooms:

Residents Garden and Shopping Precinct checking if you haven’t got a ticket and want to go. We now have a date for the start of the “Heathrow Rangers” team who will be looking after the residents’ garden, the planters on the corners by the shops and general litter picking. They will commence during the week beginning June 10 and will attend at approximately one week intervals thereafter. If you would like to support the upkeep of the Residents Garden and the planter tubs by the shops you can buy a lottery ticket from the South Bucks and Chilterns Lottery. This means that if you buy a lottery ticket from their website and nominate us as your chosen cause then we receive 50p per ticket which we are putting towards the cost of upkeep for the garden. Tickets can only be purchased on-line at www.chilternsouthbuckslottery.co.uk

Heathrow We have been successful in persuading Heathrow to place a noise monitor on Richings Park Golf Club to measure levels emanating from the airport during the night-time period. They agreed that previous attempts to do this had failed due to faulty equipment and/or data gathering protocols. This is necessary to establish base lines for computing likely noise levels following the introduction of a 3rd runway.
