Dear Readers Welcome to the September issue of In and Around Iver And what a busy time it’s been. First there was the party in the garden. A joint affair to celebrate my wonderful Mum’s 80th and Sammy’s 18th, whilst giving my 50th a fleeting acknowledgement (the more fleeting the better). We chose what was undoubtedly the rainiest day of the year. Saved only by the loan of numerous gazebos from friends and fabulous guests who turned up in their party wear, quickly adapted to the more festival like conditions and continued to drink and dance regardless. A special thanks to Steve Carter, who having worked til earlier that evening, came along with his decks and played a brilliant set before heading home for a few hours sleep, ready to work again the next day. He had Mum up and dancing like a teenager. We also had a large family night out at a Greek Restaurant to further celebrate Mum’s birthday. More music and more dancing. My god, that woman puts me to shame! Once again, she danced all night and had everyone else up too. Our annual day trip to the coast completed Mum’s celebrations, at the end of which, she looks great and frankly, I’m exhausted! Until next month! Angela & Sammy

The Ivers Good Neighbour Scheme Demand continues to increase and thus they could do with a few more volunteers as well as continuing to spread the word amongst those who would benefit from it. As at August 10th there were 29 registered users, 8 volunteer drivers, 2 coordinators and they have booked 26 journeys.

Children’s Playground This is a facility which will be located in the grounds of the Sports Club who have kindly donated a piece of land for this. A pledge of £1500 has been received from the grant awarders Heart of Bucks. We are also applying to other funds for the balance of the works which have been costed at around £42,000. In addition, we will be carrying out fund raising ourselves and the first event will be a Bollywood Black Tie dinner/Dance at the Sports Club on Saturday October 14th. Tickets will be going on sale during September.

Park have offered £200 for us to purchase and erect signs indicating that the interior roads of Richings Park are unsuitable for HGVs. Requests to Bucks County Council for these have historically been met with the usual “no money” response.

Neighbourhood Plan Questionnaire Every household should now have a copy of this. As a reminder, this is a follow on from the South Bucks District Council Local Plan questionnaire that was around a few months ago. This now gives us an opportunity to fine tune plans for development in our area. This will eventually become a legal obligation on SBDC to refer to this when considering applications for development. Please spare some time to complete this either on paper or on-line.

Subscriptions

Due to holidays we missed putting this out in early August. However, this should by now be available in the Bathurst Walk shops.

These are now due for year April 2017-March 2018. Please use the envelopes provided and return your subscription to either your road steward or to Costcutter stores. Subscription payers can also look forward to a discount of £5 per ticket for the Bollywood dinner/dance mentioned above.

Litter Picking

Committee Meeting

Another successful event was held in July. Thanks to everyone who took part. The area is beginning to look better.

The next meeting of the committee will be at the Sports Club on Tuesday September 26th at 7:30pm. Members are welcome to attend as observers and also raise any points they wish to have considered at the start of the meeting.

Sunday 8th October will be the next

#RichingsSparkle, where the Residents of Richings Park get out and about clearing litter from the area. The second one is 'Bollywood Hollywood' Night. A fundraising Black Tie dinner hosted by the Resi-

dents of Richings Park raising money to build a children's playground at the Richings Park Sports Club. Saturday 14th October 7pm. For prices and ticket information please either visit the Facebook Page 'Richings Park Village Action Group' or email rpvag@hotmail.com

THE RICHINGS PLAYERS ARE HEADED FOR BROADWAY! Not quite, but the Richings Players’ next production will be “PLAZA SUITE”, the Tony Award winning trilogy of one act plays by Neil Simon (acclaimed author of Barefoot in the Park, The Odd Couple and many more.) and directed by Adrian Uzzell. “Plaza Suite” is made up of three separate one act plays each taking place in the same suite of the Plaza Hotel. In the first a couple are celebrating their anniversary when the husband`s secretary happens to arrive, the second features a young Hollywood producer rekindling his affection for his High School sweetheart. The final play is a fast-paced farce in which a bride locks herself in the bathroom whilst her parents are desperate for her to appear before the groom arrives. Performances will be on 11th, 12th and 13th October in Iver Village Hall, with tickets going on sale in September.
