Skeptics Make The Best Patients – I Am Amazed At How Much Better I Feel!
Glen Garvin and Dr. Patrick

I wanted to take a moment to chronicle my story of healing and ongoing restoration.
A year ago, I called Dr. Baker’s office out of desperation. I was in incredible neck pain and had already been to my primary care doctor who referred me to a neck and back specialist with the idea I would be heading for surgery.
So, with little hope… but lots of pain, I figured I’d try anything to ease my pain. My thought at the time was even if it would be temporary, I would see a chiropractor just until I could schedule a consultation and surgery (there was at least a month wait for an appointment).
I was definitely a skeptic… in fact, my normal reaction to chiropractor care would be mockery! Doc Baker said, “skeptics make the best patients”. I didn’t know at that point how true that statement would be!
After a few visits to Doctor Baker, I was feeling remarkably better. After a few weeks I canceled my appointments with the surgeon and in a few more weeks felt almost as good as new. Today I go back a few times a month for maintenance adjustments and believe a healthy spine leads to a healthy life. I couldn’t really believe how quickly I had felt better and despite by skepticism, how much I now believed in this practice.
I am often amazed at how much better I feel from something I was once so skeptical about. I’m glad I wasn’t too stubborn to make that phone call and have an open mind because it is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
And, finally, any one who has ever visited would be able to tell you: The positive energy and hope exuded by every employee and most patients is contagious and uplifting. They are definitely, “Healing Spines, One Day at a Time” but they are also doing so with an eternal purpose and uplifting people’s lives in general when they do it.*
Sincerely,
Glen Garvin

The Great Pumpkin
Not Just a Jack O’ Lantern!
One of the first signs that can remind us of Fall, is our search for that perfect pumpkin. Activities and fun filled events include a trip to a pumpkin patch, to carve and create a unique Jack 0’ Lantern, typically for Halloween. A variety of winter squash, the pumpkin and seeds have been used by the Native American cultures since ancient times. Are we aware of the pumpkin’s unique healing qualities? It is packed full of antioxidant vitamins A, C and E, and many valuable minerals, including zinc. Pumpkin seeds are armed with amino and essential fatty acids, including fiber, and four times the amount of beta carotene that is found in carrots. Pumpkin seeds have been used as a soothing diuretic and to help relieve an irritable bladder. They have also been used as an effective treatment for enlarged prostate. There are two uncommon amino acids found in the seeds. Cucurbitin, which has been one of the most efficient remedies for killing intestinal parasites, and Myosin, the primary protein constituent of nearly all muscles in the body, which is important in the chemistry of muscle contraction. Pumpkin seeds have been helpful to alleviate the painful symptoms of gout, and reduce swelling of the knees and ankles. Like the seeds, the fruit of the pumpkin, that is used in a variety of dishes, is one of the best sources of carotenoids, antioxidants that reduce the risk of cancer.
There are so many ways to use pumpkin for cooking and baking. The seeds can be roasted for a tasty and healthy snack. Pumpkin pie has been one of the most traditional pies of the season, especially for the holiday of Thanksgiving. With an abundance of nutrients that pumpkins provide, the benefits make it the “Emperor of the garden,” appropriately named by the Chinese.
