NEWLETTER #1 2020 STRENGTH
HIPPOGYM
During the off session I had the time to often go to the gym. To make my legs stronger and do more stabbily exercises. To get more control during al choppy slalom day or keep the board quiet during a foiling session. In January I did more and more CrossFit lessens, to get endurance and condition in the body. Great that I was welkom at Hippogym for all the workouts and beside that the sociable and fun. THE BOOT
BIGGEST WATER SPORTS FAIR IN EURO
During the first Sunday of the BOOT Dßsseldorf I went for a visit. It was great to speak with Dutch and German costumers about the GA-sails and Tabou products. It was also nice to catch up with the Newsports crew and to see some other riders and make plans for upcoming season. WINTER AT HOME Looks like cold winters in Holland doesn’t exist anymore. Which means I could spend every week quite some time on the water! On slalom and foil but I also scored good wave sessions on the North Sea. All of this off course beside my job as a civil 3D Modeler.

TARIFA
SOUTH OF SPA IN
The first week of February, Andrea and I went to Tarifa with our campervan. We had the perfect wind and weather to let our body get used to windsurfing again after spending so much hours at the office. A good preparation before our real winter training in Tenerife. Tarifa is definitely my favourite spot in Europe, in only one week I could use all my sails and board in all kind of different conditions. I made a small video about a typical Tarifa afternoon for me. You can check it out one Youtube: https://youtu.be/c4zF1vstj3M After a great week of sailing in Tarifa it was time to get on the Ferry to Santa Cruz de Tenerife. TENERIFE
CANARY ISLANDS
Practicing more than 15 starts and real jibe battles at the marks every day was where I came for and it didn’t disappoint me. I had a month full action during the TWS Proslalom training. We had 4 days of slalom training every week, starting at 10 o’clock with a skippers meeting. And being on the water at 11 for first start of our block of 5 races. In total we do 3 blocks of 5 races, so there is time to rest, eat and change the gear in-between. I used the training to focus on improving my starts in the middle of the startline and on making short quick jibes at the first mark. Beside the slalom sessions I had some good wave sessions at the wall and Cabezo. On TWS rest days we did hikes from 4 to 6 hours to stretch the legs and discover the beautiful nature. Summary of my training month in Tenerife, in 28 days I did: •
19 slalom sessions
•
5 wave sessions
•
5 hikes
I also made a short video with some shots of the TWSproslalom training and some free sailing. You can watch it on Youtube: https://youtu.be/Cycq2Syj6Wo

COMING UP Due to the current Corona virus situation, all competitions that would have taken place in April and May are cancelled. So the start of the 2020 competition season is delayed and it's not clear what events will take place and when. I will do my best to stay fit and keep on training as much as possible so that I can be ready for what will come. I want to wish you all the best and stay healthy ď‚Š #STAYSAFE
