SANTORINI Santorini es, en esencia, lo que queda de una enorme explosión volcánica que destruyó los primeros asentamientos existentes, haciendo desaparecer gran parte del territorio de la antigua isla y provocando la creación de la caldera geológica actual. Su espectacular belleza, junto con una animada vida nocturna, la han convertido en uno de los principales destinos turísticos de Europa. Sus construcciones tienen un aspecto oriental, con casas blancas y marcos de ventanas y puertas en azul, como se pueden encontrar en las costas de Marruecos o Túnez. Por otra parte, también se han formulado reproches contra el carácter desordenado y excesivo de su desarrollo urbanístico reciente.

Santorini is essentially what remains of an enormous volcanic explosion that destroyed the earliest existing settlements, wiping out much of the territory of the former island and causing the creation of the current geological caldera. Its spectacular beauty along with a lively nightlife, have become one of the main tourist destinations in Europe. Its buildings have an oriental appearance, with white houses and window frames and doors in blue as can be found on the coast of Morocco and Tunisia. Moreover, they have also made accusations against disorderly and excessive nature of his recent development .

Gabriel Orozco is a conceptual mexican artist born in Veracruz. He studied at “La Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas” and finished his career at “Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid”. He is son of the mexican muralist Mario Orozco Rivera. On his exhibitions he gives the audience the opportunity to explore the creative asociations between the ignored objects of our everyday.

ESPN, one of the biggest sports television network released an advertising campaign regarding the 2014 FIFA World Cup, named “ Global Issues” . The campaign comes with 32 ilustrations and a tv spot of each participant country.

En esta edición de la FeNaL, se celebraron los 80 años del ‘Grillito Cantor’, Cri-Cri a través de conciertos dirigidos a todo el público. Además como parte de los festejos del 25 aniversario de la Feria del Libro, se realizaron diversos talleres de lectura y culturales, así como el Segundo Encuentro de Poetas y Promotores de la Lectura. Los más de 110 mil visitantes y la participación de más de 200 casas editoriales han posicionado a esta feria como la 4ª exposición literaria más importante del país y la primera en el Bajío. In this edition of the NBF they celebrated 80 years of ‘Grillito Cantor’ Cri-Cri through public concerts. Also as part of the festivties of the 25th anniversary of the Book Fair, they offered cultural workshops and the Second Meeting of Poets and Promoters of Reading. Nacido apenas dos años después del final de la Guerra Civil Americana, Frank Lloyd Wright fue testigo de los cambios extraordinarios que se extendió por el mundo desde el ritmo pausado del caballo del siglo XIX y el transporte a la extraordinaria velocidad de los veinte cohete de siglo. A diferencia de muchos de sus contemporáneos, quienes aceptaron dichos cambios con renuencia, Wright dio la bienvenida y abrazó a los cambios sociales y tecnológicos que son posibles gracias a la Revolución Industrial y con entusiasmo inició su propia revolución arquitectónica. Inspirado por el espíritu democrático de América y las oportunidades que brindaba, se dispuso a diseñar edificios dignos de tal democracia. Descartando la mascarada de los estilos europeos históricos mayoría de los estadounidenses favorecidos, su objetivo era crear una arquitectura que se dirigió a las necesidades físicas, sociales y espirituales individuales del ciudadano americano moderno.
Born just two years after the end of the American Civil War, Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) was witness to the extraordinary changes that swept the world from the leisurely pace of the nineteenth-century horse and carriage to the remarkable speed of the twentieth-century rocket ship. Unlike many of his contemporaries, who accepted such changes with reluctance, Wright welcomed and embraced the social and technological changes made possible by the Industrial Revolution and enthusiastically initiated his own architectural revolution. Inspired by the democratic spirit of America and the opportunities it afforded, he set out to design buildings worthy of such a democracy. Para Wright, la arquitectura no era sólo de edificios, se trataba de alimentar la vida de aquellos protegidos dentro de ellos. Lo que se necesitaba eran ambientes para inspirar y ofrecer descanso a los habitantes. Llamó a su arquitectura “orgánica” y lo describió como el “gran espíritu viviente creador que de generación en generación, de edad en edad, ingresos, persiste, crea, de acuerdo a la naturaleza del hombre y sus circunstancias, ya que tanto el cambio.”
To Wright, architecture was not just about buildings, it was about nourishing the lives of those sheltered within them. What were needed were environments to inspire and offer repose to the inhabitants. He called his architecture “organic” and described it as that “great living creative spirit which from generation to generation, from age to age, proceeds, persists, creates, according to the nature of man and his circumstances as they both change.”
