From The
Publisher I would like to thank everyone once again for all the “get well” wishes after reading last month’s issue about the ICU incident. Each day I grow stronger and for this I am grateful. There is so much promise on the horizons; so many new adventures. It dawned on me when I was in the hospital just how fragile and precious life is and how much we can take living for granted. We’ve all heard the saying, “live in the now”; which means that, with each tick of the clock, we have yet another moment to express our gratitude and very existence. It is the opportunity to seize each moment with gusto and recognize that our paths continue to expand into new arenas. We may ask, “how can we live in the ‘now’ and yet plan for our future?” A good question. When we are having goals, dreams and future ideas, we are actually creating them in the “now” or moment. For each inspiration, a road map is being designed to help us reach the finish line. It is up to us, as we travel this pathway, to stay conscious at all times of what we find with each tick of the clock.

Creating a life of what we desire means moving from the mundane world into a world of unlimited possibilities. We are indeed all “Spiritual Beings having a human experience”. The question is, “what type of world are we creating for ourselves?”
Do we have the conviction and fortitude to see ourselves in our true radiance of life? Do we believe enough to embrace our value and know that with each step we take, we are that much closer to a world of nirvana?

Make the road map you wish to travel. Dream your dreams, make you goals, see future opportunities and then live in the “now” of those creations. Allow yourself to soar to new heights of imagination without limits. See the possibilities and believe in yourself. Life is but a moment in time while on Earth; however, we have an eternity to experience our own creation. “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get” (Forrest Gump - Tom Hanks). Isn’t it great to open that box of mystery and taste the sweet success of victory! Run the good race my friends for we are all part of one big family. Take care and many blessings. In Love & Light,

It is in our spiritual maturity that we find ourselves comfortable with all that we are.
Consciousness
By Rev. Charlotte Foust
Stand on the same spot at different times of the day, different seasons of the year and you will cast a different shadow, depending on the angle of the sun and weather conditions. The shadow will be longer, shorter, darker, lighter; at times more obvious than others. So, too, with our shadow self. Some days it shows up – long, dark, foreboding – some days we hardly notice it at all. It is, however, always there. It is as much a part of us as our shadow made by the sun.
Our darkness can be our teacher. Not something to be left behind, like Peter Pan. We must seek it in the hidden corners of our inner room and do our best to reunite ourselves with it that we may once again be the complete person we were at our birth. To understand and appreciate our joy, we must know sorrow. When we turn to the light, we no longer see the shadow, but it has not gone, it is as much a part of us as it has always been.
Jungian psychology describes the shadow self as the “dark side” of our personality. We tend to think of it as something we either must hide and deny or do our best to “overcome” or eliminate completely. Modern psychology, churches, support groups, and self-help gurus abound who are willing to show us the way to being a better person by not having a “dark side.” It’s a noble (and profitable) business niche – “helping” people become “better” people.
It is in our spiritual maturity that we find ourselves comfortable with all that we are. Shadow and light, good and bad, happy and sad, each has its purpose in our life. As we reunite with our self, we open ourselves to new relationships, new understanding and new horizons. Pick up your shadow, a little fairy dust, and let yourself fly. “First star to the right…straight on ‘till morning”.
What is all too often left out is the part that tells us it’s OK to have a dark side. It’s normal and natural. It is nothing to be ashamed of. Not only does it not have to be overcome, it should be allowed to express. The trick is to express without doing harm to oneself or others. The goal is not to eliminate it, but to learn to dance with it in harmony with music around us.

A shadow is created when a light source is blocked by an object. Our shadow self grows when we block the light of wisdom. As we mature, as we evolve spiritually and gain wisdom, the light that shines from us and to us can be blocked by our fears – by things that we have been told as children. We should be seen and not heard, we aren’t good enough, smart enough, tall enough, thin enough. All the “aren’t”s that are programmed into us before we even know what’s happening. They are reinforced and re-programmed by media, churches and well-meaning mentors and friends. Our natural instincts to seek, to learn, to understand are stifled by all of the “no”s in our life – and our innate light is blocked. We are separated from our authentic self by rules, religion, and the sheer weight of fitting in. Is it any wonder that we can sometimes become angry, resentful, and “dark”? Our shadow has resulted from the absence of light, in the form of love, acceptance, respect, encouragement, empowerment and knowledge. We see our darkness as sadness, ignorance, anger and fear, while light, our higher self, our “better self”, is seen as joy, peace, calm, knowledge, and courage. In truth, for the shadow to be seen, both light and darkness must both be present, the light that shines on the spirit and the darkness of the “shadow” it casts. The brighter the light, the more we recognize the shadow.

Safety is NOT our Goal
While driving on a country road I passed the parked truck of a tree trimming service. High above the vehicle a workman stood in a cherry picker, sawing overhanging branches. Beside the truck, facing the road, stood a large sign, bold black letters against a bright orange background: SAFETY IS OUR GOAL. Something about the message bugged me. While I recognize the importance of safety on the job, there is much more to that job—and to life—than staying safe. If safety is your main goal, you won’t get much done and you won’t have any fun. In a way, the sign was a lie. If safety was the real goal, the workers could come back to their supervisor at the end of the work day, and he would ask them, “How’d you make out today?” They would answer, “We didn’t get any trees trimmed, but we stayed safe.” If that conversation truly took place, the company would soon be out of business. I played in my mind with various scenarios of how the world would be different if safety were more important than progress: Exploration: Columbus to Queen Isabella: “Are you crazy? I’m not going out on that ocean to look for a new world. If the earth is really flat, my ships will fall off the edge of the world.” Politics: Barack to Michelle Obama: “We’ve never had an AfricanAmerican President. Do you realize how much money we could lose and how embarrassed I would be if I ran and lost?” Sex: “I could get a disease, or have an unwanted baby, or God might punish me for having so much pleasure. Even worse, I could get intimate, involved, and committed.” Air flight: Captain to passengers: “Studies show that the chances of crashing are greater if we get into the air, so we are going to just sit on the runway.” Business: Steve Jobs’ parents to Steve: “Why risk your career on the fantasy of a personal computer? Stick with a safe career in calligraphy.” Business, thirty years later, parents to child: “Why risk a career in calligraphy? Stick with a safe career in computers.” There are two basic attitudes to life: Reparative and Creative. The reparative path is based on survival, self-protection, and fixing what is broken. Life is a problem and our role is to make the best of a bad situation. The creative path is founded on exploration, expansion, and celebration. Life is an adventure to enjoy. The sign on the reparative path reads, “Safety
is our Goal.” The sign on the creative path reads, “Plucking the Fruit of Life is our Goal.” Certainly there are moments when we need to fix stuff and deal with what is broken. But that is the lesser part of the game, just as safety is the secondary goal of tree-trimming. Fix what you need to fix when you need to fix it, but get back to creation as soon as possible. Even if you have to fix something, an attitudinal shift can make the process fun. A lovely essay was going around the Internet, musing about how much fun we had as kids without needing all the protection prescribed today. We pedaled bikes without helmets, rode in cars without seat belts, and went trick-or-treating without parents shadowing us to keep us from getting molested. Somehow we survived childhood without elaborate defenses, and had fun in the process. I am not saying kids should abandon helmets, seatbelts, or parental supervision on Halloween. I am just suggesting that there is more to life than protection.
For a penetrating lesson in the contrast between trust and protection, watch a delightful documentary called Babies. The film follows the social training of babies in four different cultures: African, American, Japanese, and Mongolian. An opening scene shows the African baby, sitting naked on a dusty plain, playing with some bugs, having a grand time. Next we see an upwardly mobile San Francisco family bundling their child in Oshkosh designer wear, strapping him onto a complicated bike seat, protected to the hilt with all manner of safety devices. The African kid looked happier, and so did his parents. One has to wonder just how much protection our children need to be safe and happy? And us? In 85-year-old Nadine Stair’s famous essay, “If I Had my Life to Live Over,” the author confesses, “I’ve been one of those persons who never goes anywhere without a thermometer, a hot water bottle, a raincoat and a parachute. If I had to do it again, I would travel lighter than I have.” It’s never too late to travel light or to have a happy childhood. Perhaps it’s time to post a new sign by the truck: SUCCESS IS OUR GOAL, AND WE’RE HAVING A GOOD TIME GETTING THERE. Trim the trees where you must, but enjoy them where you can.

Passion Are You On Your Right Path?
H
Passion is a feeling that tells you: This is the right thing to do. Nothing can stand in my way. It doesn’t matter what anyone else says.
ere’s a concept you won’t want to forget: passion always trumps excuses. Keep in mind that when I use the word passion, I’m not referring to the romantic notions that this concept conjures. Instead, I’m equating it to a vigorous kind of enthusiasm that you feel deep within you and that isn’t easy to explain or define. This kind of passion propels you in a direction that seems motivated by a force beyond your control. It’s the inner excitement of being on the right path, doing what feels good to you, and what you know you were meant to do. It’s my contention that the mere presence of passion within you is all you need to fulfill your dreams. Remember that God is in no need of excuses, ever. The creative Divine Spirit is able to manifest anything it contemplates, and you and I are the results of its contemplating itself into material form. Thus, when we have an emotional reaction that feels like overwhelming passion for what we’re contemplating, we’re experiencing the God within us…and nothing can hold us back. Passion is a feeling that tells you: This is the right thing to do. Nothing can stand
in my way. It doesn’t matter what anyone else says. This feeling is so good that it cannot be ignored. I’m going to follow my bliss and act upon this glorious sensation of joy. When you’re enthusiastic, nothing seems difficult. When you have passion, there are no risks: family dramas become meaningless, money isn’t an issue, you know that you have the strength and the smarts, and the rules laid down by others have no bearing on you whatsoever. That’s because you’re answering your calling—and the you who is doing the answering is the highest part of you, or the God within. The presence of passion within you is the greatest gift you can receive. And when it’s aligned with Spirit, treat it as a miracle, doing everything you can to hold on to it. I feel this way about the creation of my books. I’ve learned over the years that when I go to that place of passion within me, there’s no force in the universe that can interfere with my completing a project. My life is consumed by the passion I feel for what I’m doing—yet I know that as long as I feel this, I’m experiencing the God within. My enthusiasm seems to cause my world to endlessly offer me cooperative, co-creating experiences. I’m willing and I’m eager, and not just about my writing—I feel the same way about staying in shape, enjoying my family, giving a lecture, or whatever it may be. If you have passion, there is no need for excuses, because your enthusiasm will trump any negative reasoning you might come up with. Enthusiasm makes excuses a nonissue. When you seek the presence of your creative Spirit and are filled with passion about virtually everything you undertake, you’ll successfully remove the roadblocks from your life and enjoy the active presence of Spirit.

Enlightening Views According to Sophia
Inside Job “I don’t know what to do.” was the plaintive cry from my friend Joe. He felt conflicted about whether he should remain in a toxic job where the boss admitted to being “out of control” or should he leave, regardless of any financial repercussions. I listened and honored the feelings and unmet needs being expressed by my friend. And when he felt heard, I invited him to consider that something better was awaiting him if he let go. I had learned about “something better” from Carol, who had left a toxic marriage. After her divorce, Carol started losing all her old friends because she was no longer “Carol and Dave.” Then she lost her job and, finally, her house. Carol thought the universe was punishing her in some way and grieved her losses. She stayed in a dark emotional space for a long time, feeling abandoned and betrayed. Then she started to look within to see if there was something she could do to reverse her situation. She realized she had some inner emotional demons that were holding her back.
abundance. He’s happier and healthier than he’s ever been, and he continues to do his personal healing work. I’ve shared my friends’ stories because they inspire me to continue to do my own inner house cleaning. I hope their experiences resonate with you, so that wherever you are on your journey, you continue with your own great work, knowing it is your right (and responsibility) to live abundant, healthy, job-filled lives.

With this new insight, Carol shifted from thinking of herself as a victim to seeing herself as an empowered woman willing to heal and release her demons. As Carol did her inner work, she began to notice that into the vacuum of lost husband, friends, job, and home, something new and wonderful was tapping at her door. There were people and opportunities that had wanted to become part of Carol’s life, but there was no space until she had swept her inner house clean of its demons. I think we have all been in these circumstances. We’re in pain from a toxic relationship and we don’t know where to turn. Some of us think we have to put up with pain because “that’s just the way the world works” or we deserve it because we’re not worthy of better. Some of us believe in the geographic cure—“If I go somewhere else, life will get better.” Or we point to the person or situation causing our discomfort as the reason for our feelings of frustration, anger, fear, sadness, lethargy, and so on. The truth is we deserve and should expect good in our lives. If we move, the common factor is still present—ourselves. And it is never about “them” or “it.” If you or I are suffering, there is something inside us that is calling out, wanting to be recognized and healed. Dr. Michael Ryce, author of Why Is This Happening To Me…Again?! says, “Seldom does it occur to the confused mind that, ‘If I’m present in every experience of my life, perhaps I’m involved in creating my pain.’ Rarely does it occur to a mind to ask themselves, ‘If they’re the one with the problem, why am I the one with the pain’ Only for a fleeting moment can this mind conceive that it might have set itself up for what is happening…Again!” As much as we might be tempted to try to “fix” the person or situation we initially blame for our pain, it really isn’t about the outside stimulus. And when we look outside for the cause, we invite more pain into our lives because we are telling the universe we are victims. The truth is toxic situations and pain are invitations to heal and reveal the joy and aliveness waiting on the other side. We have the responsibility (ability to respond) to heal ourselves. This is a much more inspiring and energizing mindset to embrace, and one that creates the vacuum for our good to rush to us—as it did to my friend Carol. And my buddy in a toxic work environment? As we continued to talk, he identified areas in his own psyche that needed healing and began to see how he was holding himself back—and perhaps making himself sick—by remaining in his job. He did his work, left his toxic job, and the universe responded with

Why Metaphysics Works
For thousands of years people sought out medicine men, shamans, and witch doctors to cure their ailments. Western culture dismisses this as superstitious nonsense; yet is it? Has the advent of modern science blinded us to what the ancients knew to be true? Has science, based on the double blind test, failed us? After all, what is the placebo effect? It is the body responding to the belief that it is receiving a healing medication, when it is not. And yet, a high percentage of people receiving placebos improve to the same degree as those using a drug. Even so, we continue to put our faith in pharmaceuticals that kill more people annually than illegal drugs and car accidents. I think the belief that something we cannot see and test does not exist, may be seen by future generation as a notion just as preposterous as we view shamans and witch doctors today. Have we thrown out the ancient wisdom because we
have failed to understand the underlying mechanism of the spiritual realm? Much like an insect skimming the surface of a lake, believing there is nothing below; we too may be missing the vast depths of a reality just below the surface of our senses. Many have intuited its presence. Phenomena that travel through it have been documented as real, but cannot be measured. This is because there is a field of infinite energy inside “contracted” space that lies within a black hole; according to a published, peer reviewed Unified Field Theory called the Harimein-Rauscher Solution. In a black hole the gravitational pull is so intense, light or electromagnetism cannot escape. We need electromagnetism to be able to measure something, and that is why phenomena that travel through contracted space cannot be measured and therefore, verified. According to this theory, contracted
space is an infinite field of conscious energy that underlies all physical reality. It is connected to all matter through black holes that center all particles. This field is sometimes called Source, the ether, zero point, your higher self, the divine, the spiritual realm, and God. We are embedded in it and interact with it all the time. The problem is that we are doing so unconsciously, and therefore getting unwanted results. Think of this field of energy as a lake, and matter as a vortex in the water. The vortex takes on a dynamic that differentiates it from the rest of the lake, and yet it is made of the same stuff, and when it stops spinning, it returns to its former state. The field behaves like a hologram in that every point contains the whole…just as every strand of DNA contains all the information for the entire body. Time and distance have no meaning in the field, as every point contains the whole of existence. This is why energetic healings can work remotely, and why telepathy can fly around the world instantaneously. The field is pure formless energy until it gets little eddies that spin into existence and create matter. Our consciousness interacts with the field. This is why scientists have seen in experiments at the quantum level, that adding an observer changes the outcome of any experiment. Matter is mostly space. Consider that an atom, which is the building block of matter, is 99.9999% “empty” space. In fact the distance between a neutron and a proton, relative to its size, is about 26 trillion miles! So matter (the electron, proton, and neutron) represents just an infinitesimal bit of the atom. The empty space is not empty at all, but rather is filled with the infinite density of the field. It appears empty because it is in perfect geometric equilibrium. This is where sacred geometry
PAGE 10 • may, 2014 • IN LIGHT TIMES
By Aleya Annaton
comes into play. The universe uses a 64 tetrahedral grid to go to infinity both inward and outward. This particular geometry is the most stable in existence. The universe uses this geometry to form boundaries around the infinity of the field to create physical matter. For instance, your body is a boundary condition around the infinity within you. Science looks only at matter to define reality. Perhaps we should be looking at the space, which is the field and most of what is, to understand reality. If we can learn how the universe creates boundaries around the infinity of the field, then we can build a technology to create physical matter from the field. Shamans and healers have known for millennia that all we need do is apply our consciousness to alter the field, create new realities, restore health, and even create physical matter. This is how Moses got water out of rock, and Jesus multiplied loaves. This is why those who practice Metaphysics and spiritual healings can perform what looks like miracles!

It takes a team to build a stable and sturdy life. Each of us is blessed to have a T.E.A.M. that challenges, supports and directs our outcome for living on this wonderful planet called Earth. Some parts of our T.E.A.M. linger in the shadow of our subconscious and some in the light of our awareness. In fact, most of the T.E.A.M. is just below the surface of our cognitive mind. It is the light that is only found by going deeper into the shadow. Our mission is to get to know the T.E.A.M. through the quality of our shadow and the intelligence of our cognitive mind. Our shadow is the slippery glow of our subconscious. It contains powerfully positive and powerfully impaired states of our personal reality. According to psychologists today, it is believed we are still only using 10% of our consciousness and allow 90% of our unconscious to rule our very existence.
I believe we are doing much better than that, but we still need to grow more in awareness of our subconscious levels in order to form a right use of our shadow and reach the True Light of Higher Consciousness. In the 1/3rd—2/3rd theory model, the principle suggests most of us are living at more than 2/3rds vibration of challenging memories. It is important to shift the memory to align with our Soul Desire–to be Whole. In our desires, we may have 1/3rd of the cells vibrating to our new and desired awareness, however, unless we have 2/3rds vibrating at a new thought and desire, we only see partial results of our positive dreams and goals we wish to achieve. The repetition of the old patterns keep showing up because 2/3rds of our memory cells are connected to the old thoughts and old vibrations of toxic

Actions and Manifestations. If each component of our team is congruent with the other, then the manifestation that is activated in our daily reality is exactly what we want. If any part is not congruent, we have a partial manifest that is a rather distorted reality, or we have no manifest and abort our desire. To help our T.E.A.M. become the positive power behind our dream, we must look outward, look inward, and constantly check our actions and what we see as a manifested reality in our daily experiences. Most often people want to use affirmations to obtain a dream fulfillment. They ignore the emotions that run the gamut of “I can” to “I can’t”; to “I have” and “I don’t have.” They believe they can affirm their self beyond the I can’t, and I don’t have. Using words that momentarily inspire is heart-felt. Yet, by ignoring their inner self and emotional shadow, they keep running ten steps forward, heading ten steps backward and

I was in a sacred knowing that God (Source) would provide. Yet, I might see an additional $10; perhaps a little more. But what was needed never occurred. I knew I was positive in my feeling and thinking, however, I was stymied. My search continued. I looked outward with the hope of finding my way to prosperity. I did eventually learn to look inward and deep into the shadow. Prosperity came through the changes of the work of the shadow and a deeper awareness of how we process our Oneness with Source and an outcome that we have focused on. To look outward, we need to see what life is mirroring back to us. What is

Natural Health for Pets Nutrition for Dogs, Cats & Birds
By Anna Fox
Pets today suffer from allergies, skin problems, hypertension, heart disease, cancer, liver and kidney failure, and other serious illnesses. These conditions have been exacerbated by the tainted foods we feed our pets, and the lack of vitamins, minerals, enzymes and other nutrients in their diets. Commercial grade pet foods may contain harmful additives and processed grains, instead of high quality proteins. These foods weaken the immune system, providing the environment for disease to gain a foothold. Improving your pet’s health is relatively simple. It is a matter of feeding your pets natural, whole foods, and ensuring a proper balance of vitamins, minerals and micronutrients is achieved. I recommend the following basic diets for dogs and cats, try them and watch your best friend grow healthier and happier before your very eyes!
All Animals If you have the means to feed your pets organic foods and filtered water, please do so! Organic vegetables can be grown cheaply and with little effort in your own garden, and I’m sure there’s a GSW Class on how to do it, as well as the GSW Gardening Club. The easiest way to prepare vegetables is to use the pulp left over from juicing. I like my carrot, apple, beetroot and celery juice in the mornings, and there are plenty of nutrients left in the pulp to keep the dog and the birds healthy as well! If you don’t drink juices (you should, they’re great for you!), you’ll need to use a food processor, as they should be chopped up quite finely.
indoor cats who are not permitted to go outside with a good vitamin-mineral supplement.
Birds Birds should always have a good mix of different grains and seeds as well as fresh water available. I also recommend giving birds some raw fruit and vegetables daily. It’s nice if you can give them some access to fresh grasses as well.
For meat-eating pets, try to get game meats, as they are generally leaner and free of all the hormones and antibiotics that are present in commercially grown meats. Also keep in mind that diced meat is better than minced. Here in Australia, many pet shops sell frozen diced kangaroo meat in 1kg packs (and 15kg boxes) at very reasonable prices.
Some birds, especially parrots, will happily eat a whole apple or another fruit if you just cut it in half. Others need the fruit and veg to be chopped or pureed on the food processor. Be guided by what your birds like, but please, stick to foods that are naturally eaten by your species of bird!
Always add a good colloidal or crystalloid vitamin and mineral supplement and some high-grade Omega 3 and 6 oils.
Never give your chickens “layer pellets” as they are made with fish and meat meal - that is, ground up fish, cow and chicken bones - about as far from a natural diet as a chicken can get! Chickens’ diet should consist mainly of wheat, other grains and seeds, fruit and vegetables, grasses, any insects and worms they can capture. Look for “wild bird seed” in your supermarket - it’s great to mix in with their wheat and they love it! If you are able to let them out, even if for only a few hours a day, then do so! They will always return to their “coop” by sundown.
Aged garlic extract, various herbs, enzymes, spirulina, bee pollen and kelp can also be added either on a regular basis or as needed, to ensure the highest level of well-being for your pet.
Dogs Mix 1/3 raw vegetables (any except onions, which can be toxic to dogs), 1/3 cooked grains (white rice or pasta are acceptable, but whole grains or brown rice are preferable), and 1/3 raw meat. Add a splash of oil and serve - it’s that simple! * Note that measurements are given as proportions rather than amounts, as serving sizes will vary considerably depending on the size of your dog.
What now? Whether your pet is healthy or has a health problem, try the natural diet recommended above first. Most animals will get better within a few weeks and will not need futher treatment. If problems persist, please see more information below.
Raw bones are also recommended once a day, especially marrowbone or kangaroo tails.
Cats Unlike dogs, cats are almost exclusively carnivorous, and will do well on a meat-only diet. Give your cat raw meat, fish (whitebait is the perfect size for cats, and very inexpensive), or organic chicken. Feed in small portions twice a day, and remember to remove uneaten food before it spoils. When allowed to go outside, cats will normally supplement this diet with herbs and grasses, which, apart from self-medicating, also supply nutrients that are not present in meat, such as chlorophyll. Therefore, it is especially important to supplement the diet of

Dog Tricks: t r a t S o T e r e Wh

hen it comes to teaching your dog new tricks this can be great fun for all involved. You can start off by doing something simple like weaving in and out of your legs or fetching some article by name or teaching your dog to shut a door. There are a few people that find it is demeaning to the dog by teaching them tricks but I can assure you that dogs love learning and especially being appreciated and by learning to do something new it will cover both of these needs. Whatever you going to teach your dog both of you will benefit from the experience and it will be a time that you will learn more about each other. Suggested Tricks could include: • Close the door • Roll over • Catch • Give a paw • Open a box • Find members of your family or toy by name • Bark on command • Weave through your legs • Jump over objects • Crawl under a low object or a chair With any trick, split it into small sequences and teach each one a step at a time. If the task is complicated start with the last sequence first and then add the previous element to the beginning and build up from there. This method is called reverse chaining. It is excellent as it helps the dog learn as he always ends with the familiar part. Rather than waiting until the whole sequence is learnt reward every step for getting closer and closer to your goal. Each step you are asking a little more of your dog. The use of clickers can work extremely well as you are able to reward your dog at the correct time even if he is still some distance away from his goal. While tricks can be fun they can also be a benefit to anyone that is disabled and not being able to pick something up off the ground or fetch some sort of aid to help the disabled person. There are many people that are sight impaired that use seeing eye dogs that had started just like you are with simple to learn tricks and then graduated to more advanced training. The whole process should be imaginative, have a think of what your dog enjoys and develop this to include a whole collection of tricks. The dog will enjoy learning something different and will certainly enjoy all of the praise in getting something right. All that is needed is a dose of persistence and time invested in her training and by doing this you will be rewarded.

A ROMANTIC THRILLER ABOUT THE REAL-LIFE SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERY OF THE SPIRITUAL REALM
Simple Thoughts is a culmination of the life experiences of energetic healer and author Evangeline.
The spiritual community finally has their champion in the scientific arena with Physicist Nassim Haramein, who has put forth a new theory of creation that supports many spiritual concepts and esoteric teachings. Aleya Annaton, weaves this profound ground-breaking theory into a compelling story of love, political intrigue, and suspense.
With this collection of timeless affirmations and reflections, Evangeline helps readers reconnect with themselves by going within their own being.
The story is set in a near future America, controlled by an extreme fundamentalist religious faction that has taken over the government. Physicist Alex Harmon, along with his colleague and lover, are seeking a theory that would unlock the secrets of creation… a forbidden subject under the new religious law. Believing the answers were encoded into many religious traditions and symbols (explaining sacred geometry), they set out to decipher clues passed down in manuscripts, secret societies, and monuments around the world … an endeavor that thrusts them into the crosshairs of the tyrannical leader of the new religious regime. What they find at the end of their quest is no less than the answers to the most intriguing questions man has pondered since he first gazed at the stars. Annaton’s vision of an America taken over by a fundamentalist faction is a powerful statement as to the role of religion in today’s political debate. This multi-layered novel is filled with twists, turns and a sizzling romance that will keep you turning the pages! Available at www.TheTechnologyofGod.com.
Her words affirm a more positive existence through a deeper understanding of the self and the development of more empowering thought processes. In Simple Thoughts, Evangeline shares the wisdom that she has gained through listening and reflecting upon everyday life experiences. She sees all events as gifts from the Universe that allow her to be less judgmental of people and more open in her reative endeavors. “A simple but powerfully packed book addressing thoughts of life and living accompanied with excellent reflections and affirmations to manifest the feelings and creation which is intended and desired. Simple Thoughts is best kept in everyone’s pocket and nightstand for daily use. It will enrich and strengthen your inner self.” Reviewed by Eugenia M. Jarrett

The
Turning Point The Power of Resilience in a Time of Extremes
PAGE 16 • may, 2014 • IN LIGHT TIMES
The Power of Resilience in a Time of Extremes If you’ve ever been on a journey of any kind, then you know the routine. To prepare for the trip, you first get an idea of where you’re going. You check the weather conditions, study maps, and then pack what’s needed to keep your routines alive while you’re traveling. The key here is that when you know where you’re going, you know what to take. And when you find yourself going somewhere you’ve never been, you prepare for the unknown. It’s this simple idea that’s at the heart of this book. Our Journey ~ We’re all on a journey, and it’s a big one. Our journey is leading us to a place no one has ever been. There are no travel guides or Internet trip advisors to tell us precisely what our destination looks like or exactly what we’ll need when we get there. Rather than a temporary excursion to an exotic place that we can return from after a few days, what we hold are one-way tickets. This is a different kind of journey altogether. We’re not just going to another location somewhere on Earth. We’re going to another world hidden within our everyday lives—and it’s the choices we’re making today that are taking us there. Together we’re barreling down the fast lane of a superhighway that’s crossing the boundaries of traditional beliefs, religions, and habits of the past. In doing so, we’re also blowing right past the limits of what we thought was possible. These very experiences are our passports leading us to the new world that’s emerging before our eyes. Our Destination ~ I can’t say for sure what our destination will look like. After the dust settles and we learn to adapt to our changing climate rather than trying to control it, after new and sustainable economies replace those that are fractured and failing today, after we embrace the technology that provides every bit of the energy we need without the devastating side effects of fossil fuels, I can only imagine what our lives and the world will be like. And when I do, I see a better place for us all. I see a world where we’ve raised the standard of living for everyone, rather than lowering it for many in order to support only a few. I see a world where war is obsolete and using the threat of war to solve our problems no longer makes any sense. I see a world where our love of cooperation is greater than the fear that drives violent competition. And I see the shift in thinking that makes each of these things possible. To get to that shift, however, we must begin by recognizing the realities that we face and the promise that they hold. A good place to begin is by acknowledging the fact that we’re living in a time of extremes. A Time of Extremes ~ We’re living in a time when we can expect big things to happen—big shifts in the world and big changes in our lives. And just to be clear, the extremes I’m talking about don’t necessarily have to be considered bad things. It’s just that they’re big things, and they’re happening in our lives as well as our world. While the reasons for the extremes will be explored in the upcoming chapters, the key here is that we’re living a rare era of transition. We’re living the emergence of a new “normal,” and the success of our transition hinges upon: (1) our willingness to acknowledge the shift, and (2) how we
learn adapt to it. Our globalized culture of jobs, money, markets, and resources means that it’s now impossible to separate the extremes in the world from what they mean in our everyday lives. The crisis of climate change is a perfect example of this connection; the record-setting droughts caused by shifts in global weather patterns translate directly into the higher prices we pay for food at our local markets. The extreme debt and failing economies on the other side of the planet translate directly into higher costs at the gas pump and higher ticket prices for the buses, trains, and taxis that take us to work each day. Because of these and other extremes, business loans have become scarce, and the interest we’re being paid on our savings and retirement accounts is at a record low. The global slowdown of industry translates directly into the loss of jobs and benefits in our local communities. These are the kinds of extremes in the world that are creating big changes in our lives. Among the many uncertainties they bring, though, there’s one thing that we can know with absolute certainty: our lives are changing in ways that we’re not prepared for, at a speed that we’ve never known. The Key ~ I’m an optimist by nature. I see real reasons for optimism in our lives. At the same time I’m also a realist. I am under no illusions when it comes to the huge amount of work that it’s taking to give birth to the new world that lies before us. Our ability to successfully meet the challenges that are converging in our lives begins by our acknowledging what may be the most obvious yet difficult question we could ask of ourselves: How can we deal with the issues if we’re not honest about the issues? Our willingness to acknowledge the magnitude of this simple question is the key to developing more resilience in our time of extremes. Everyone Is on the Journey ~ A big difference between trips that we may have taken in the past and the big journey that we’re on now is that today we don’t get to pick our traveling companions. The reason is simple: Everyone on Earth is on our journey. No one can be left behind. Our world today is so deeply interconnected on so many levels that it’s impossible for the transformation that’s emerging in one part not to show up in other places as well. I’ve seen this firsthand in my travels to some of the most remote and isolated places remaining in the world—like Tibet, for example. In 2005, following a number of previous pilgrimages to the monasteries of the Tibetan Plateau, I saw for the first time the eerie glow of cell phones illuminating the dark recesses of centuries-old buildings as the pockets under the robes of monks and nuns lit up. For the people living in these secluded monasteries, their former world of isolation is now on a path of connectivity. The change that this path carries is a promise that their traditions will never be same. A Crisis in Thinking ~ We don’t need to go to Tibet, however, to see the evidence of how dramatically the world is shifting. Change is reflected everywhere, both in the ways in which the world works, as well as in the ways things no longer work. The era of an oil-based economy, for example, is giving way to a new economy based upon forms of energy that are cleaner and more
F eature S tory
sustainable. The centralized production of our food from corporate farms half a world away is giving way to the healthy and sustainable production from small farms that invigorate local economies. The practice of creating wealth from industries that destroy our planet is giving way to socially responsible models of investing. And as the world of the past slips away and the new one emerges, the clash of new against the old highlights another, even greater crisis, one that we all face, yet which we’ll probably never read about or hear discussed in the popular media. It’s a silent crisis that’s like a big elephant in the room—something that everyone sees yet no one acknowledges. Arguably the greatest crisis that we face in our time of extremes is a crisis in thinking. And our thinking is the very key to the way we deal with the needs of the emerging world. You and I are being tasked with something that’s never been done. We’re being challenged to radically shift the way in which we think of ourselves and our relationship to the world, and to do so faster than any generation in history has ever done before. Our willingness to think differently about ourselves and the world will be the key to the success of our journey. And while it’s definitely a big journey that we’re on, it’s also a short trip, because the world we’re traveling to is already here. It’s with us right now. We Have the Solutions ~ Fortunately for us, the technology to solve the biggest challenges we face has already been discovered. The biggest problems we could ever imagine are already solved. The advanced principles are already understood. They all exist in this moment, right here, right now, and are at our fingertips. All that stands between us and the new world—where energy comes from clean, abundant sources and is accessible to every member of our global family; where clean, healthy food is plentiful and accessible to every mouth on the planet; where every human is able to obtain the basic necessities to live a comfortable, meaningful life—is the thinking that makes room in our lives for what already exists in the world. Are we willing to embrace the thinking that makes such possibilities a priority? Will we allow the science that reveals the deepest truths about our relationship to ourselves, one another, and the Earth to become the passport for our journey? As haboob season begins many folks are concerned about Valley Fever. Valley Fever is caused by a fungus in the soil. The spores, once airborne, are inhaled into the lungs, where the infection can begin. People living or visiting in the arid desert areas are often exposed to these spores but not everyone gets sick. So why do some get sick and others do not. What can we do for prevention and what can we do if we do get sick? Healthy Immune System - Regular use of herbs and other natural remedies help create an internal environment where fungus cannot thrive. Eating a more plant based diet, drinking 3-4 cups of whole plant, herbal teas and positive, loving thoughts have simple yet profound effects to help create healthy immune systems. There are hundreds of herbs you can begin incorporating into your daily teas. WHAT IS
Iridology
By Elaine Jacovini
Looks At Health Through People’s Eyes
W
hat is iridology (pronounced eye-ri-dology)? Many people today, including Dr. Oz, are talking about how we can see our level of health through looking at our eyes.
The science and practice of iridology is performed by analyzing the iris (the color portion of the eye) and the sclera (the white portion of the eye). The eyes are connected directly with the sympathetic nervous system and the spinal cord, which creates a close association with the hypothalamus, pituitary and the pineal glands. These endocrine glands, within the brain, are major control and processing centers for the entire body. Thus, information is recorded in the various structures of the eye — iris, retina, sclera, cornea, pupil and conjunctiva. The eyes reveal the “genetic blueprint” we are born with, but accumulations in the eyes can build up over the years because of the way we eat, drink, think, feel and live our lives. Since each section of the iris correlates directly to a specific internal organ, iris analysis can uncover hereditary predispositions to degenerative conditions decades before symptoms occur or diagnostic testing may reveal. Thus, it is a valuable asset for preventive health care. The science and practice of iridology is not new; it is 3,000 years old and is practiced all over the world. During the first half of the 20th century, iridiagnosis (as it was called then) was used in the U.S. primarily by medical doctors. Here’s a quote from Henery Lindlahr, M.D., circa 1919: “The regular school of medicine (allopathic), as a body, has ignored and will ignore this science (of iridology), because it discloses the fallacy of their favorite theories and practices and because it reveals unmistakably the direful results of chronic drug poisoning (pharmaceuticals) and ill-advised operations.” Because the emerging pharmaceutical industry put political and economic pressure on medical schools, iridology was removed from the curriculum. Then, in the latter half of the 20th century, it came back. Most notably, the late Bernard Jensen was its champion and kept it alive in this country. Today, Dr. David J. Pesek, a Jensen protégé, has taken the lead in advancing the science and practice of iridology. He has developed holistic iridology, a leadingedge system of interpreting not only physical predispositions in the eyes, but also strong thought and emotional patterns. Each eye gives us different information. The left eye correlates with the left side of our body, which is that feminine, creative side of us. The right eye correlates to the right side of the body, which is the masculine, practical side of us. Iridology provides a painless, economical and non-invasive means of assessing health status. It is important to note that iridology is not used for diagnosis. Rather, it is used as a means of assessment for conditions and levels of health. Iris analysis is most effectively done by imaging both eyes with a specialized microscope and digital camera. The pictures are then enlarged and carefully examined by a qualified holistic iridologist. Eyes truly are the bridge between the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical aspects of our human nature.

Common Snacking Mistakes
By Jeanette Padilla
That Are Making You
Fat
L
osing weight is challenging for the majority of people. Cutting calories and eating smaller meals can lead to more snacking. Though snacking can be a healthy habit, it most often just leads to weight gain. Here are some common snacking mistakes that lead to major weight gain. Stress eating
Stress eating sounds like a serious eating condition and it can be the case for many individuals. However, for those who think stress eating is not a problem for them, they may be stress snacking and not even be aware they are doing it. The term “stress snacking” is seemingly less perilous sounding than “stress eating” but that is not necessarily the case. Snacking on chips, crackers, chocolate bars and other sugar-laden snacks when stressed is unhealthy for many reasons. First, there’s the fact that these snacks are unhealthy and are loaded with carbs, salt and sugar. These foods harden arteries and lead to weight gain over time. Secondly, snacking during periods of stress is habit-forming.
Snacking before meals
Snacking in between meals can help stave off hunger. A common mistake many individuals make is snacking to the point of fullness. This is not a healthy way to snack. The digestive juices your body releases will get used up on the snacks and when the time comes to digest a full meal those digestive juices will be gone. This most commonly leads to bloating, indigestion and other digestion issues. The key is to have a light snack that is easy to digest and won’t cause too much work for the digestive system. PAGE 20 • may, 2014 • IN LIGHT TIMES
Replacing meals with snacks
A busy lifestyle is one of the most common causes for bad eating habits. Sometimes eating handfuls of trail mix or other snacks replaces an entire meal because one simply can not get away from work. This habit can lead to issues with the intestinal system. Eating extremes, such as eating a handful of trail mix for lunch and then having a huge dinner, can cause simultaneous strangulation and inflammation of the intestines. This causes issues such as: weight gain, abdominal pain, chronic constipation, diarrhea, hernia and other serious health issues.
Types of snacks
Chips, crackers, candy bars and baked good are most closely associated with the word “snacks”. These types of snacks, while tasty, will lead to weight gain and disease. Snacks can actually be used as a weight-loss tool. Replacing junk food with foods like grapefruit, walnuts, almonds, and unsweetened greens can help burn fat. Most nuts also provide a healthy dose of fiber and omega-3 fatty acids which will help keep you healthy and fit.
Late night snacking
Snacking late at night can be quite hazardous to the waist line. Eating before bed is also bad for the digestive system and can cause sleep problems. The body expends quite a bit of energy to digest, thus forcing the body to stay awake. This can make falling asleep a bit of a challenge. Sleep and digestion can be improved by not eating any food at least one hour before going to sleep.

Must Know Facts About Brahmi
By Dr. Edward F. Group III
Brahmi, Bacopa monnieri, a plant commonly used in Ayurvedic medicine, has an age-old reputation for being an effective and powerful herb helpful for memory and combating stress. while reducing the “high”, thus decreasing the risk for dependence. In addition, studies indicate that bacosides offer protective benefits for organs commonly affected by opiate toxicity.
5. Fights Systemic Redness and Swelling
Any illness or irritation can cause redness and swelling in the body. No location more dangerous than the brain. Brahmi may be helpful at fighting this. Research supports its use for managing systemic redness in the brain caused by the body’s autoimmune response. Much of the research is ongoing; however, the emerging data offers hope for new therapies in the treatment of chronic discomfort and redness.
6. Encourages Normal Blood Pressure
Brahmi has been shown to increase the utilization of nitric oxide in the body and also appears to encourage vascular muscle function, two benefits that positively influence normal blood pressure. While promoting normal blood pressure is not one of Brahmi’s most well known uses, the herb may still provide a valuable, natural approach to those seeking this benefit.
7. Strong Antioxidant Activity
Bacopa monnieri, known to most as Brahmi, acts as an adaptogen; which means it helps the body adapt to new or stressful situations. The following 9 facts show the power and versatility of this therapeutic plant.
Antioxidants…can we get too many of them? Many researchers are evaluating natural plants, herbs, and foods for their antioxidant potential and findings indicate that Brahmi is a good one. It provides protection against oxidative damage, a type of cellular damage caused by free radicals. The herb has also been shown to enhance antioxidant activity in other organs, like the kidneys.
1. Supports the Brain
As people age, it’s common for age-related brain degradation to happen. The active compounds in Brahmi, known as bacosides, are beginning to be evaluated for their effects on the brain and human health. Some research has shown the compounds in Brahmi topositively influence brain cells that prompt the regeneration of brain tissue. In one animal study, long-term supplementation with bacosides showed therapeutic value against the rapid degeneration associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Hopefully more will continue to explore its potential benefits for brain health.
8. Organic is Best… As with any plant or herb, it’s a good idea to know its source in order to decrease the likelihood of consuming pesticides, GMO’s, and pollutants. If Brahmi has a caveat, it’s that it’s very absorbent and can easily accumulate pollutants and other contaminants, such as arsenic, if grown in or around contaminated areas. In more than one case, Brahmi samples taken from a semi-urban area contained noticeable levels of lead, copper, cadmium, and zinc, which exceeded safe thresholds. Conclusion? Only purchase organic or wild crafted Brahmi!
2. Promotes Liver Health
9. …And so is Fresh!
The brain is not the only organ that benefits from Brahmi’s health-promoting compounds. The liver is the body’s main detoxifying organ, and studies suggest Brahmi may be useful for encouraging liver function following toxin damage. With the daily onslaught of toxins in our environment and food, it’s no wonder so many seek safe, natural compounds that support proper liver function.
3. Protection Against Neonatal Hypoglycemia
When it comes to newborn infants, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) can result in serious and immediate brain damage, inducing future motor and cognitive impairment. Studies have found bacosides to be highly active compounds that exhibit neuron-protecting effects in hypoglycemic infants. Therefore, many researchers believe that Brahmi extracts may be effective for protecting newborn brains against hypoglycemia-induced brain damage.
4. Positively Impacts Opioid Dependence
Doctors prescribe (and sometimes over-prescribe) opioids, like morphine and oxycodone, for pain management. Although these drugs are effective, their highly addictive nature is a massive downside. Seventy-seven percent of chronic pain patients also suffer from depression and face an added risk of addiction. Researchers have discovered that bacosides may be helpful for enhancing the benefits of morphine
When cooking with herbs, fresh herbs offer substantial taste benefits. It turns out that the same is true for your health; as researchers have determined that fresh Brahmi is more potent in its healthy compounds.
Supplementing with Brahmi
There’s little question that Brahmi is one of the best, all-around tonic herbs available. It also is quite specific in its beneficial effects on brain health. What is your take on Brahmi? Have you ever used it? Leave us a comment and share your experience!

Good Vibrations By Kathleen Parrish
They say music can soothe the soul, but thanks to science, sound therapy can also heal the body.
I am lying on a mat on the floor of a yurt at a health spa in Florida, and a man with waist-long dreadlocks is playing an Australian didgeridoo inches above my stomach. “I’m going to open up your chakras, clear them out and balance them so your chi can flow,” says Joda Cook, a sound-vibrational therapist and didgeridoo master at Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, Fla. “It will get rid of a lot of stress and tension.” This is music to my ears, stiff neck and shoulders. As he continues to play, the deep “you, you, you” sound vibrations of the ancient wind instrument rumble through my body, and it’s not long before I begin to relax in an auditory massage. For thousands of years, sound has been used to promote health and emotional well-being. The aborigines began using the didgeridoo as a healing tool more than 40,000 years ago, and other ancient cultures beat gongs, chanted and tapped Tibetan bowls. Even the Greek mathematician Pythagoras, who is known as the ‘Father of Numbers’, is said to have used music to heal the body and elevate the soul. “Music is important in all cultures,” says Maria Krajnak, assistant director of the Therapy Center at Hippocrates. “It’s been a healing force for a long time.” That said, today’s use of sound in medicine and healing goes beyond the melody, employing vibrations from objects that resonate like my didgeridoo experience. Vibrational therapists also use tuning forks, Tibetan singing bowls, crystal bowls and now special sound chairs and pillows that convert music into tactile sensations — not only to induce relaxation but to treat pain, anxiety and other ailments. Sound therapy operates on the principle that our bodies contain energy frequencies that can be positively or negatively altered by external vibrations. “Every bone, tissue, cell and organ has an optimal frequency,” says Jonathan Goldman, a pioneer in the field of harmonics and director of the Sound Healers Association in Boulder, Colo. “When we say we are in a state of health, we say we are in sound health. We’re like an orchestra.” But if a part of the body begins vibrating outside its normal frequency and slips out of tune, emotional disharmony and disease can result. Sound healers believe the deep vibrations created by the didgeridoo and other instruments, as well as by self-created sounds (such as humming and making elongated vowel sounds), can help bring the body back into balance by increasing oxygen and blood flow to the cells, which has a healing effect on living tissue. They also claim it lowers blood pressure, helps people sleep, reduces levels of stressrelated hormones and releases endorphins, which are natural pain relievers. A study by Clinton Rubin, professor and chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, found that standing on a gently vibrating platform for 15 minutes a day can build bone PAGE 22 • may, 2014 • IN LIGHT TIMES

Good Vibrations (cont’d) mass and reduce fat in mice. Testing has begun in humans, and the modality could have important implications in the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis. “People think of sound as an energy that goes into our ears,” says Goldman, author of several books including, Healing Sounds and The 7 Secrets of Sound Healing. “It does indeed go into our ears, but then it enters our brain and our nervous system, affecting our heart rate and respiration.”
improved breathing, improved sleep, increased mobility and emotional release. “It’s like a jackhammer,” she says. “It loosens things up.” She then directs me to a leather lounger near a large gold-filigree harp. She covers me with a blanket and reclines the chair backward so my feet are above my heart. She begins to play, plucking the strings of the harp one at a time. “Where do you feel that?” she asks.
And sometimes the vibrations are directed through your skin, as with tuning forks. I realize this when I visit Lisa Warner, a licensed massage therapist at Hippocrates, who uses the high-tech cutlery during massages. Applying the vibrating forks to meridians and acupuncture points rebalances and reboots the body, she says. As I lay face down on a massage table in a room of flickering candles and soft music, she clinks the forks together, then places them on my trapezoids. The sound waves penetrate my skin, sending tiny currents down my spine.
A wave of vibrations swells across my lower back.
Afterward, I feel, well … buzzed.
Within 30 minutes, the stress of the dinner party begins to melt, and I feel like I’m floating in a sound bath. She was smart in telling me to ask questions first. After, I can barely speak, my face flush with relaxation. I decide for the next family gathering to seat everyone in a sound chair and serve tuning forks.
If all this sounds a bit new age-y, consider that sound waves are the science behind ultrasounds. Now, doctors and researchers are using high-intensity ultrasonic waves to treat brain tumors, tremors, uterine fibroids, breast and bone tumors and many other conditions. The military is also using sound waves in the development of technology. It’s a fact that sound alters matter, says Regina Murphy, a sound therapist in Las Vegas, who specializes in harmonic massage. It’s been proven that a human voice can shatter glass, if it’s the right resonant frequency. Murphy got into the field after noticing that vibrations mellowed her son, who had transitional anxiety. “He was always calmer after he played guitar,” she says. “It never dawned on me early in that he was self-soothing.” She now has her own company, www.SoundsForSelfTreatment.com, where she sells sound prescriptions, CDs and videos that she created from different frequencies to treat anxiety, depression, stress, insomnia, PTSD, ADHD and other ailments. She also pioneered Baby Heart Songs (www.babyheartsongs. com), which uses a mother’s recorded voice and heartbeat to soothe premature newborns restricted to an incubator and unable to be held. Patients listen to the sound prescriptions in a vibroacoustic recliner that has built-in speakers to amplify the sensations of the music. The chairs — or sound lounges, as she calls them — are used all over the world in hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, juvenile-detention centers and schools for special-needs children. “You need to try one,” she says, directing me to Sarajane Williams, a licensed psychologist who pioneered Vibroacoustic Harp Therapy (VAHT) nearly 20 years ago and has a Somatron vibroacoustic chair. Turns out, Williams lives not far from me in Lower Macungie, a rural township in southeast Pennsylvania. I arrive at her home the Saturday after a dinner party, tired and weary from cooking for 22 and arguing politics with my husband’s family. We talk first — “You won’t be in any shape to ask questions afterward,” she tells me. A classically trained harpist, Williams discovered the benefits of vibrational therapy in 1990, while working as a biofeedback technician at a chronic-pain center in Bethlehem, Pa. The center used a “sound bed” to blast patients with vibrations. “I saw how effective it was for relieving pain and anxiety,” she says, so one day she brought in her harp, plugged it into the microphone jack and began playing. “I found the denser tissue responded more to the low notes and the higher frequencies to the peripheries: fingers, toes, head,” she said. Thus, she was able to tailor the therapy to the individual. One of her patients receives weekly VAHT sessions to ease her migraines and fibromyalgia symptoms. “Nothing else works,” Williams says. Other benefits of the treatment include decreased blood pressure, heart and respiratory rates,
String by string, she works her way up my spine until she hits the higher notes, which register as soothing pools of color in my head. “The meridians of your body are like strings on the harp,” she says. “When you pluck them, you release the tension and recharge them so they get what they need.”

our daily routine and is it delightful, or defunct of joy, and nothing but routine? Is it exactly what we want? Who are the people we are interacting with and sharing with in our routine? Are they encouragers or discouraging ranters? Do they reflect our passion, purpose and poise? Are we happy most of the time or in the illusion of happiness most of the time? Are we healthy? Abundantly enjoying our life? Our outer reality reveals our inner working. Going within we must have the courage to meet our Inner Saboteur. That part of our self that reveals our worries, fears, critical mind, and negative beliefs. The Shadow side of our negative self. Yet the Saboteur is also our protector. Even if the protection is an illusion. This aspect of our self reminds us of the past: failures, times of being a victim, shortcomings of our personality,
our unworthiness, or other people in our life who have made us feel unworthy. The Saboteur takes the role of keeping us safe from our negative feelings. And, yet, keeps us a prisoner of old beliefs. We believe in the unworthiness. We believe in the victim role and shortcomings of Earthly experiences. We believe that we lack power to make changes that are more positive. We live the 2/3rds in the shadow of old memories, and experiences that constantly keep us from manifesting desires. Our T.E.A.M. keeps us in the presence of our limited beliefs and does not open the doors to our true inner power of Source expressing in our daily experiences. But, what if we make friends with the Shadow? What if we recognize that the Saboteur is only our memory talking? What if we recognize that we can meet the Saboteur, change the course of our inner reality and meet the Great Light–

our Higher Self replete with success and the power to maneuver through challenges and heal the wounds of our Earthly experiences? Within the realm of our shadow is a vast and creative world. It is the positive quality of the Shadow side of our life. It is filled with power… some we want and some we want to change. For instance, we most certainly want to change the negative thought and emotional patterns that keep our T.E.A.M. manifesting outcomes we don’t want. We also want to change our awareness of our true power from the unconscious realm to the conscious realm in order to live healthy, vital, creative, loving and whole-being lifestyles. We want that knowledge to be in the forefront of our cognitive awareness. To get to the welcoming committee of our T.E.A.M. in the shadow of our self, we need to remember that the shadow leads us to the light. We need to put on our shield of courage and deal with the old messages that make us feel unworthy and thus incapable. We need to learn what the subtleties of the unconscious mind are creating. From a quote seen on plaques, we need to, “Put on our Big Girl Panties and Deal with it.” We do that by paying attention to second layer thoughts and emotions. When we pay attention, we learn of the shadow messages and the Saboteur protective emotions. We take charge and make the changes so our Thoughts, Emotions and Actions take the form of our higher power and we Manifest our true desires. We come to wholeness and thus congruity.
What does your T.E.A.M. reveal? Are your Thoughts congruent with your Emotions? Are your actions chaotic or focused? Are your Manifestations clearly what you want or reveal you don’t have what you want…yet? I have found that personal awareness of subconscious thinking and emoting, as well as Tibetan Chakra Therapy, helps clear the old vibrational memory, opens us to direct, positive vibrations and frees our Higher Will Power to fill the cells with affirmative intent. The positive cellular memory will take over and the empowered response to life mastery can be the results. Doing the inner work we reveal that 2/3rds of our cells respond to the Memory of our Higher Mind, Higher Emotions and we respond to life by actively living as Masters of Manifestation. We are the Co-Creator and no longer affirm…we know.

Hot Tips for a
Healthy Brain There is no “magic pill” for your brain. It is part of a whole ecosystem that includes your body and all your surroundings—including, unfortunately, the artificial flavors, dyes and additives in your favorite junk food, and the chemicals in the hair spray you just inhaled. Your brain has only 2% of the body’s weight, yet consumes 20% of the body’s glucose. How to feed and care for it? Avoid Chemicals As Much As Possible! The more your house and office are “clean and green” the better your brain will work. Watch out for house rehab paint strippers, paints, varnishes, and the fumes from new carpets and furniture. Avoid using plug-in or spray deodorizers. Use natural citrus sprays instead. Lime Mate Mist is a good one. Use body products that have natural ingredients instead of chemicals—a lifetime of breathing hairspray can really lower those IQ points. Get organic foods whenever you can, or if they are not available wash all foods with a good fruit and vegetable wash. And learn the “dirty dozen”—the list of fruits and vegetables that, if not organic, are likely to have the highest pesticide content. Drink water ~ (“Energy Drinks” and “Sports Drinks” with all their sugar and dyes don’t count here, people.) Dehydration actually causes brain damage. Drink at least 8-10 glasses a day. Take fish oil ~ This is really important. Deficiency of omega-3 fatty acids has been shown to lower intellectual performance and is linked with dementia. Fish oil’s “active ingredients” are the essential fatty acids, DHA and EPA. 30% of the content of your brain is these very fatty acids! No fatty acids, no brain. And it’s really tough to eat enough fish to get the right amount of fatty acids, so take a good supplement. Do your best to get at least 600 milligrams of combined DHA/EPA per day. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables ~ The best ones, according to the US Dep’t of Agriculture, have the highest antioxidant value: blueberries, blackberries, cranberries,
strawberries, spinach, raspberries, brussel sprouts, plums, broccoli, beets, avocados, oranges, red grapes, red bell peppers, cherries, and kiwis. Five servings a day of fruits and vegetables is recommended. (a serving is a half cup.) Drink Green Tea ~ Green tea (and to a lesser extent, black tea) slows the build-up of plaque in brains from amyloid deposits, and also prevents strokes. Drinking tea also helps mental alertness. Eat Eggs ~ Eggs are rich in choline, a fat-like B vitamin. Studies have shown that it increases memory and chases away fatigue. Get Exercise ~ Greater blood circulation means more oxygen to the brain, and more production of mood-enhancing endorphins. Meditate ~ Meditation changes brain frequency and function. The frequencies of deep meditation allow a “brain rest” you cannot get anywhere else. Meditation also enhances connection and symmetry between the right and left hemispheres of the brain. Try these three top supplements: Alpha-lipoic acid, Acetyl-l-carnitine and Phosphatidyl Serine. • Alpha Lipoic acid (aLa) This supplement is a powerful antioxidant, and is both fat and water soluble. It can actually get into the brain easily, and can pass through to all areas of the cells to “mop up” free radicals and stop their damage. A former NIH researcher, Dr. Bruce Ames did “rat maze” studies on Alpha Lipoic Acid and the next supplement in the list, Acetyl-L –Carnitine, and showed the combination of these two caused aging rats who had been confused in the mazes prior to taking the supplements, to make dramatic changes within a month—to be able to perform in the mazes like young rats. • Acetyl-L-Carnitine This is the other half of the “A-team for the brain.” It is a primary contributor to the production of the neurotransmitter “acetylcholine,” which is required for mental function. Double-blind clinical trials suggest acteyl-L-carnitine helps the performance of people with Alzheimer’s, and delays the progression of the disease. • Phosphatidyl Serine This supplement actually stimulates brain cells to make new dendrites and axons. People who take it remember more names, faces, phone numbers, and written information. That’s it—the whole brain makeover. Happy thinking!

DON’T QUIT! When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest if you must, but don’t you quit. Life is bizarre with its twists and turns, As everyone of us sometimes learns, And many a fellow turns about When he might have won had he stuck it out. Don’t give up though the pace seems slow, You may succeed with another blow. Often the goal is nearer than it seems
To a faint and faltering man; Often the struggler has given up When he might have captured the victor’s cup; And he learned too late when the night came down, How close he was to the golden crown. Success is failure turned inside out, The silver tint of the clouds of doubt, And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems far; So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit It’s when things seem worse that you mustn’t quit. Awakened Oracle Astrology
I am thrilled to see we will be receiving such a gentle and loving break astrologically this month. Last month was very intense. I am sure I am not alone when I say that a break from intense change, feelings and situations is just what the doctor ordered at this point. As May unfolds, I see we will not only be receiving a “break”, but also be receiving the recharging that comes from feeling unlimited Love and support from the Earth. A return to a sense that everything is in right order in the Universe and we have everything we need to thrive surrounds us. Along with all the support, however, I see a gentle, yet potent message. The message is Forgiveness. Maybe you have been hurt by another, or possible long buried feelings have surfaced. Forgiveness and acceptance are required to receive the abundance we are now being offered. A closed fist is not open to receive new gifts. Forgiveness is a struggle at times; however, we are releasing the pain, not condoning the action. Happy May! Astrology uses the placement of all planets at the moment of your birth to determine the “Matrix” of energy you are working through this lifetime. The sign determines the process of connecting with that aspect of you. For instance, the Sun may be in Scorpio at birth, but Libra does not define “Who you Are”, it determines the process by which you will connect with “Who you Are”. Energy for May 2014 Strength: Our strength is found in Abundance. We will easily be able to connect with the unlimited abundance offered by the Earth. Challenge: Our challenge is Fear. Only fear severs us from our Divine Path and our natural source of sustainable energy. Totem Energy: Our totem is Cow; Cow reminds us that we are sustained freely as a birthright. We do not need to “earn” or “deserve” Love or Abundance. Energetic Theme: Our theme is Love. Opening up to our birthright requires that we open to Love, beginning with ourselves. Moon Cycles Full Flower Moon: May 14, 12:15 am PDT - 23° Scorpio. Full Moon Message: Knowledge, when integrated, becomes wisdom. New Moon: - May 28, 11:40 am PDT- 7° Gemini. New Moon Message: Working togetherer we can change anything.
ARIES • Mar. 21 to Apr. 19
Totem: Frog (Cleansing, Release). Frog is urging you to rid yourself of any debris you have picked up; emotional, psychic or physical. This is the month to cleanse and release. Being the spiritual warrior can attract unwanted influences, and normally your natural process is to let it roll right off your back. However, tend to this debris more carefully at this time. A spring cleaning now will ensure you are renewed when you return to action.
TAURUS • Apr. 20 to May 20
Totem: Swan (Trust, Transformation). A beautiful transformation is taking place. Ugly ducklings you have been nurturing are emerging as beautiful swans this spring. Maybe you have felt like the ugly duckling, relying on your workhorse ethic to achieve some goal. Or it may be that you are ready for a transformation yourself. Swan is indicating that you need to spread your wings with beauty and grace. It is time to see magnificence in your life.
GEMINI • May 21 to June 20
Totem: Dog (Loyalty, Sincerity). Good fortune comes with the Dog as your totem. Success and abundance are assured this month if you follow his advice; that sincerity and steadfast loyalty are the foundation of lasting achievement. Are you being true to yourself and your dreams? Are you steadfast in your loyalty to your loved ones and your role in your community? Follow your heart to find your fortune and be sure to share your success.
Cancer ~ June 21 to July 22
Totem: Spider (Creativity, Patience). Spider’s message is that you already have within you the ability and resources to create meaningful work. Are you longing for a more creative path? Is the dreamer within you itching to write a book? Spider reminds you that you are responsible to give birth to, and then care for, the creative spark within you. Whether or not you see yourself as creative, you are the creator of your life.
Leo ~ July 23 to Aug. 22
Totem: Raven (Intuition, Magic). Raven reminds you that nothing is beyond the power of Creation. No matter how bleak your life may feel or how impossible your dreams may seem, everything is always possible. If you have lost touch with that magic, ask Raven to help you see the coincidence and synchronicity that are the messengers of the magic of Life. How it feels is not necessarily how it is. Expect the magic and everything changes.
Virgo ~ Aug. 23 to Sept 22
Totem: Great Mystery (Unknowable, Void). You have entered the potent void where all things are possible but have yet to manifest. You are being brought into a greater level of trust with the Unknowable part of your journey. Virgo is a sign that deeply understands process, however may not always comfortable with trust. While you may not understand the “hows” and “whys” of your current actions, summon the faith that you are playing your role perfectly.
Introducing Taurus April 20th to May 20th “I stablize”
Ruling Planet: Venus ~ Rules: Neck & Throat ~ Symbol: The Bull ~ Element: Earth ~ Energy: Feminine ~ Quality: Fixed ~ Gem: Emerald ~ Flowers: Rose ~ Color: Green ~ Most Compatible Signs: Virgo,, Capricorn & Scorpio ~ Higher Octave of Taurus Energy: We are grounded and stable in our connection to Earth and abundance as our birthright. We embrace our natural material desires. ~ Lower Octave of Taurus Energy: We may become fixed and overly materialistic, unable to release what we no longer need for fear that our supply is limited. Full Spectrum of the Taurus/ Scorpio Axis: To be fully grounded in the material world while remaining centered on the soul’s journey.
T
aurus is the grounded and tactile sign in the Zodiac. This is where we plant our roots securely in the Earth. Taurus sun signs are nearly always the Little Pig who builds the Brick house. They not only understand the need for secure, sustainable foundations, they value material groundedness above all else. This stability makes Taurus a bit resistant to “other” ideas. Once it becomes apparent to a Taurus which direction is the most sustainable, all other ideas seem like fantasy and ungrounded. And once they find that path, Taurus can work steadfastly forever in that direction. In the best examples, this innate understanding and strength provide Taurus with a tether to the truth of abundance and the ability to build. However, when the forces against our poor Taurus are strong, they may find themselves living in a world where they need material security to be centered but where they believe that the supply is limited. So Taurus has an ongoing dance with Abundance and Scarcity. The challenge for Taurus is to release and to trust.

Libra ~ Sept. 23 to Oct. 22
Totem: Wasp (Assertiveness, Protection). Be mindful of how you address others at this time. You have been under tremendous pressure from the heavens this year and healthy boundaries may be slipping. If you are feeling the need to “sting” others to regain your space, Wasp suggests that assertiveness may come off as anger. The lesson is to have patience with yourself and others. Let go as quickly as you can and restore your harmony.
Scorpio ~ Oct. 23 to Nov. 21
Totem: Owl (Insight, Truth). The heavens are blessing you with expansion and hope this year. You may be seeing the effects of this in your life right now. Owl has come to confirm what you already feel, which is that your wisdom and insight now shine in a way that others can see. It is very satisfying to be validated. Relax, you are in a being honored as the healer that you are.
Sagittarius ~ Nov. 22 to Dec. 21
Totem: Horse (Strength, Help). Live the life you wish for yourself. Any instance where you allowed yourself to be taken advantage of has outlived its usefulness. Break free of these limitations and embrace living fully as yourself; on your own terms. Use the gifts of endurance and tenacity to forge ahead with your plans. You are imbued with the power to succeed in your personal quest and the time to act is now.
Capricorn ~ Dec. 22 to Jan. 19
Totem: Eagle (Spirit, Integrity). Eagle appears as a true message that you are connected to the Spirit at this time. Eagle soars high above the normalcy of life to view a wider vista. Take the long view right now. You may be wrestling with an issue, or your day to day life may feel mundane. If you view it from a broader perspective, however, you will see how Spirit has present in every moment.
Aquarius ~ Jan. 20 to Feb. 18
Totem: Stag (Pride, Leadership). The Stag is asking you to take pride in your strengths and be sure you are true to yourself. This may be a good time to ask yourself some important questions. “Am I following my highest path?” “Are my actions in alignment with my integrity?” If you cannot answer yes to both of these questions, it is time to make some changes. Only you know the path you should be on.
Pisces ~ Feb. 19 to March 20
Totem: Cat (Independence, Boundaries). Love with freedom is an act of courage. Cat’s message is to relax your attachment to what you desire. Stretch your long legs, soak up some sun, and enjoy your own independence and any part of you that has been hanging on too tightly will relax along with your tight muscles. What you long for is to be more self-possessed. In turn, you will find you need fewer possessions.
