{ La copertina dell’ultimo numero dell’anno è dedicata al progetto Liguria Wow realizzato dall’Associazione Culturale “Wepesto”, in collaborazione con l’associazione di guide Ambientali ed Escursionistiche “Ponente Experience”, che aderendo al programma Trekker Loaner di Google ha portato fisicamente l’occhio di “Google Street View” per 300 km dal mare fino alle cime più spettacolari della Liguria. Il nostro viaggio continua nelle cave di Ardesia della Valle Argentina fino a risalire, grazie alla vecchia ferrovia Cuneo-Ventimiglia, alle piste innevate della Riserva Bianca di Limone Piemonte Sulla costa vi portiamo alla scoperta di alcuni elementi unici come La Loggia di Santa Chiara e Porta Canarda, per ritornare a Bordighera e scoprire i segreti del Tennis center di Riccardo Piatti, un’eccellenza che sta attirando in Riviera nelle ultime settimane il top del top del tennis mondiale, da Novak Djokovic con Andrè Agassi a Wawrinka e al coach di Federer Ivan Ljubicic, per citare solo alcuni dei nomi visti sfilare in questi ultimi giorni. Il viaggio di fine anno è anche un percorso sensoriale, di gusti delicati dei fiori eduli fino al loro esatto opposto, grazie alla sorprendente varietà dei 160 tipi di peperoncino coltivato sulle alture di Sanremo, oppure grazie al pescato che arriva sulla tavola freschissimi in virtù della filosofia a km zero applicata dalla M/B Patrizia. La Riviera si fa sempre più glamour, sotto ogni aspetto, sia quello turistico, per il quale questa rivista vi farà da guida, sia quello sportivo, storico e culturale e gastronomico. { The front cover of this year’s last issue is dedicated to Liguria Wow, a project created by the “Wepesto” cultural Association in collaboration with the “Ponente Experience” environmental and hiking guides association, which through participating in Google’s Trekker Loaner programme has physically taken Google Street View’s eye on a route covering 222 kilometres, from the sea right up to Liguria’s most spectacular peaks. Our journey continues into the slate quarries of Valle Argentina before rising up again, thanks to the historic Cuneo-Ventimiglia railway line, to the snow-covered slopes of the Riserva Bianca in Limone Piemonte. Along the coast we’ll take you to discover unique treasures, such as the Loggias of Santa Chiara and Porta Canarda, before heading back to Bordighera to discover the secrets of Riccardo Piatti’s Tennis center, a centre of excellence that has recently attracted top stars from the world of tennis to the Italian Riviera, from Novak Djokovic with Andrè Agassi to Wawrinka and Federer’s coach, Ivan Ljubicic, to name but a few that have been seen there in recent days. This end of year trip is also a sensory experience, from the delicate flavours of edible flowers to the exact opposite, with the amazing 160 different varieties of chilli cultivated on the hills of Sanremo, or the M/B Patrizia’s daily catch which, by virtue of their zero food miles philosophy, goes straight from the sea onto the plate. Duecento chilometri a piedi tra borghi e sentieri, trecento ore di cammino e un anno e mezzo di lavoro per raccogliere il materiale ed elaborarlo. Sono i numeri sorprendenti del progetto Liguria Wow, che ha permesso, aderendo al programma Trekker Loaner di Google, di portare l’occhio di Street View nei luoghi più spettacolari della provincia di Imperia. Il merito dell’impresa spetta all’associazione culturale Wepesto, capitanata da Nicola

Ferrarese, e all’Associazione di guide ambientali ed escursionistiche Ponente Experience che, partendo dai Giardini di Villa Hanbury, proseguendo per l’Alta via dei Monti Liguri, fino al Monte Saccarello e scendendo verso il mare di Cervo, hanno portato in spalla il Google Trekker, lo “zaino” pesante una ventina di chili e fornito dell’attrezzatura necessaria a documentare a 360 gradi il paesaggio. Viste mozzafiato, natura, ma anche cultura, storia e siti da riscoprire grazie all’accurato lavoro di documentazione effettuato

durante il cammino, con scatti, foto sferiche, modelli 3D e dati, materiale oggi interamente consultabile gratis sul sito www.liguriawow.it. “Con il nostro lavoro promuoviamo diverse attività sul territorio - ha spiegato Nicola Ferrarese - quella con Google è stata una bellissima avventura autofinanziata che abbiamo intrapreso anche grazie alle competenze delle guide di Ponente Experience lungo sentieri e percorsi spettacolari ma anche difficili, come il Sentiero degli Alpini, che grazie al progetto ora

Con la stessa idea di portare l’occhio di Google alle persone siamo stati a Cervo, a Triora nella cantina delle Streghe, e poi a Dolceacqua e alle Cascate dell’Arroscia, fino a Mendatica”. The merit of the enterprise goes to the cultural association Wepesto, headed by Nicola Ferrarese, and the Ponente Experience Association of Environmental and Hiking Guides that, starting from the Gardens of Villa Hanbury, continuing along the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri hiking trail up to Mount Saccarello and descending to the sea of Cervo, carried the twenty-kilo Google Trekker “backpack” and provided the equipment needed to document the landscape at 360 degrees. Breathtaking views, nature, but also culture, history, and sites to rediscover thanks to a painstaking documentation work carried out on the journey, with photo shots, spherical photos, 3D models and data, material that can be viewed free of charge at www.liguriawow.it. “We promote various activities in the area with our work” - Nicola Ferrarese explains – “the one with Google has been a lovely self-financed adventure we embarked on thanks to the skills of the Ponente Experience guides

along spectacular but difficult paths as well as the Sentiero degli Alpini that everyone can visit thanks to the project. Inspired by the same idea of bringing Google’s eye to the people, we went to Cervo, to the Cantina delle Streghe in Triora, and then to Dolceacqua and the Arroscia Falls, up to Mendatica.”

Deux-cent kilomètres à pieds entre villages et sentiers, troiscent heures de marche et un an et demi pour collecter et élaborer le matériel. Ce sont les chiffres surprenants du projet Liguria Wow qui a permis, en adhérant au program-

me Trekker Loaner de Google, de porter l’œil de Street View dans les endroits les plus spectaculaires de la province de Imperia. Le mérite de l’exploit va à l’association culturelle Wepesto, conduite par Nicola Ferrarese, et à l’association des guides environnementales et de randonnées Ponente Experience qui, en partant des Jardins de Villa Hanbury et continuant sur ‘’l’Alta via dei Monti Liguri’’ jusqu’au Monte Saccarello et en descendent vers la mer de Cervo, ont porté sur les épaules le Google Trekker, le ‘’sac à dos’’ qui pèse une vingtaine de kilos, équipé des dispositifs nécessaires à documenter le paysage à 360°. Des vues à

Эта идея родилась по инициативе культурной ассоциации “Wepesto” во главе с Никола Феррарезе при поддержке ассоциации экологических и

пешеходных экскурсий “Ponente Experience”. Группа стартовала от садов виллы Hanbury, а затем прошла весь путь по верхней дороге лигурийских гор вплоть до горы Саккарелло и спустилась к морю в зоне городка Черво. Всю дорогу им пришлось нести на своих плечах Google Trekker, тяжелый «рюкзак» весом около двадцати килограммов с необходимыми устройствами для съемок пейзажа на 360 градусов. Панорамы, от которых захватывает дух, природа, культура, история и места,

которые еще надо открыть – весь этот материал благодаря документированию во время перехода, фотографиям, в том числе объемным, модели 3D, можно теперь увидеть совершенно бесплатно на сайте www.liguriawow. it. «Этот проект позволяет нам продвигать все лучшее, что есть на нашей территории, рассказывает Никола Феррарезе, - и в целом мероприятие с Google было очень интересным, и мы сами его

профинансировали. Оно оказалось удачным также благодаря гидам ассоциации “Ponente Experience”, которые провели нас по трудным, но красивым дорогам, как например, Тропа альпийских стрелков. Un porticato sul mare per un panorama mozzafiato

Nocciolo storico dell’antico borgo di Porto Maurizio, il Parasio è un quartiere arroccato in cima al promontorio che contraddistingue Imperia, intrico di carruggi tra cui si alternano sole e ombra, arricchito dalla presenza di palazzi nobiliari, affollato di chiese dal culto antico e vivo ancora oggi, e con affacci incredibili e sognanti sul mare. Il più famoso di questi è il camminamento porticato noto come Logge di Santa Chiara. Tra i luoghi simbolo della città, le Logge di Santa Chiara sono parte del complesso dell’omonimo convento le cui origini sono ammantate di leggenda, ma del quale fonti

storiche confermano la notorietà agli inizi del Seicento, quando ospitò due delle figlie del signore di Dolceacqua, Carlo Doria. Fondato nel 1365 e ancora oggi abitato dalle monache; agli inizi del 1400 accolse la regola francescana della Santa cui deve il nome. Del complesso fa parte una chiesa, datata 1648 e impreziosita dalle opere di autori locali tra il 1715 e il 1725. Allo spettacolare porticato si giunge incamminandosi lungo il sentiero che si apre alla sinistra della chiesa di San Pietro: via del Monastero, questo il suo nome, anche se nessuno la chiama così. Per tutti sono “le Logge”, il cui corridoio incantato appoggia da un lato alle mura esterne del convento, mentre

dall’altro si affaccia carico di spiritualità e stupore su uno dei panorami più belli della città, da cui contemplare una veduta di mare che si estende da Borgo Prino, immediatamente in basso, alla Torre di Prarola, fino ai promontori della Valle del San Lorenzo. A progettarlo, nella sua scenografica composizione, che lo rende unico e affascinante ancora oggi, fu il pittore portorino Gregorio De Ferrari, nel 1713, che sfruttò la presenza, sul crinale del promontorio, degli antichi bastioni difensivi di Porto Maurizio, oggi individuabili guardando in basso, e del torrione di avvistamento a base circolare posto all’estremità di Levante, ancora integro nel suo slancio spericolato sul mare.

The Lodges of Santa Chiara An arcade on the sea for a breath-taking view Historic core of the ancient hamlet of Porto Maurizio, Parasio is a neighbourhood perched on top of the promontory that marks Imperia, a tangle of alleyways between which sun and shadow alternate, enriched by the presence of noble palaces, crowded with churches of ancient and still alive worship, with incredible and dreamy views on the sea. The most famous of these is the arcade walkway known as Lodges of Santa Chiara. Among the worship symbols of the city the Lodges of Santa Chiara are part of the

complex of the homonymous cloister whose origins are covered with legend, even if historical sources confirm its notoriety at the beginning of the 17th century, when it hosted two daughters the lord of Dolceacqua, Carlo Doria. Founded in 1365 and still inhabited by the nuns today, at the beginning of the 1400 it accepted the Franciscan rule of the Saint whose name it brings. A church dated back to 1648 and embellished by works of local authors from 1715 and 1725 is also part of the complex. The spectacular arcade is reached walking along the path that starts on the left of the San Pietro Church: via del

Monastero, this is its name, even if nobody calls it so. For everybody, they are “the Lodges”, whose enchanted corridor rests on one side to the outer walls of the cloister, while on the other side, full with spirituality and amazement, it exposes on one of the most wonderful views of the city from which a sea view extending from Borgo Prino, immediately below, to the Prarola Tower, up to the promontories of the San Lorenzo Valley can be contemplated. Its design, in its scenic composition, which makes it unique and fascinating still today, was created by the Porto’s painter Gregorio De

Ferrari, in 1713, who took advantage of the presence of the ancient defensive bastions of Porto Maurizio on the ridge of the promontory, today identifiable looking below, and the circular-base observation tower at the far end of the East, still intact in its daring leap on the sea.

Le plus fameux de ces passages est le chemin des arcades, connu comme ‘’Logge di Santa Chiara’’ . Un parmi les lieux symbole de la ville, les Logge di Santa Chiara font partie de l’ensemble du cuvent homonyme, aux origines imprégnés de légendes, dont les sources historiques confirment qu’il était déjà connu au début du dix-septième siècle, quand il a accueilli deux des filles de Carlo Doria, seigneur de Dolceacqua. Direttamente sul Porto turistico Marina degli Aregai a Santo Stefano al Mare, a 8 Km da Sanremo e a 50 Km da Montecarlo, l’albergo presenta ampie camere sul mare, un giardino ricco di vegetazione mediterranea, con palme ed ulivi. L’hotel mette a disposizione gratuitamente biciclette che permettono, grazie all’attigua pista ciclabile di 24 km complessivi di raggiungere: Sanremo, Arma di Taggia, Ospedaletti, Riva Ligure, San Lorenzo al Mare. Il Ristorante permette anche nei mesi autunnali di pranzare all’aperto nel dehor prospiciente il mare e con vista sul porto di Marina degli Aregai. Abbiamo, grazie al Nostro chef Walter ed al collaboratore Adriano, una cucina semplice ma molto curata e di un livello che spesso stupisce gli avventori che da occasionali diventano abituali. Il pesce ed i dolci sono i nostri punti di forza, pur presentando menù con prezzi molto contenuti, che vanno dai 18 euro a persona per il Menù del Giorno, ai 29 euro del Primo Menù degustazione, sino ai 40/50 e più euro per un Banchetto per cerimonie. Ovviamente oltre ai menù a prezzo fisso, gran parte dei nostri clienti preferiscono pranzare alla carta, e degustare alcuni vini tipici DOC, particolarmente apprezzati quelli del Ponente Ligure. La location è sicuramente uno degli altri punti forti del Ristorante. Oltre ad essere molto piacevole pranzare, fare la prima colazione, o cenare all’aperto, con la vista sul mare, esiste anche la possibilità di lasciare giocare i bambini in tranquillità, nel parco verde, vicino alla fontana. Il parcheggio è molto ampio.

et aujourd’hui encore habité par les religieuses, au début de 1400 il a adopté la règle franciscaine de la Sainte à qui il doit le nom. Une église fait notamment partie de cet ensemble, elle date de 1648 et elle a été parée d’œuvres d’artistes autochtones entre 1715 et 1725. On arrive à ces arcades spectaculaires en marchant le long du sentier qui s’ouvre à gauche de l’église de Sait Pierre: c’est rue du Monastero, même si personne ne l’appelle ainsi. Pour tout le monde ce sont ‘’le Logge’’, dont le couloir enchanté est d’un côté accroché aux murs extérieurs du couvent et, de l’autre, chargé de spiritualité et stupeur, donne sur un parmi les plus beaux paysages de la ville: une vue sur la mer qui s’étend de Borgo Prino à la Torre di Prarola, jusqu’aux promontoires de la Vallée du San Lorenzo. C’est le peintre Gregorio de Ferrari qui, en 1713, a conçu cet ensemble spectaculaire qui le rend, de nos jours encore, unique et charmant. Il a profité des anciens ba-

stions défensifs de Porto Maurizio sur la corniche du promontoire, qu’on peut remarquer en regardant vers le bas, et, à l’extrémité de Levant, du donjon d’observation encore intact dans son élan téméraire sur la mer.

А самой известной является церковь Лоджия-ди-СантаКьяра с уникальной арочной галереей.

Являясь одним из мест, символизирующих город, Лоджияди-Санта-Кьяра представляет собой часть одноименного монастыря, истоки которого окутаны легендой. Однако исторические источники подтверждают, что монастырь был уже известен в начале XVII века, когда здесь жили две из дочерей Карло Дориа из Дольчеаквы. Основанный в 1365 году, он и сегодня является приютом для монахинь, а в начале XV века он принял францисканство и получил имя СантаКьяра. В состав монастырского комплекса входит церковь, датированная 1648 годом и украшенная произведениями местных мастеров, созданными между 1715 и 1725 годами. Tra le tante risorse della splendida Valle Argentina ce n’è una dal sapore antico e particolarmente affascinante. Si tratta delle cave d’ardesia presenti principalmente nel comune di Triora, che rappresentano una grande fetta della produzione complessiva italiana del prezioso materiale. Questa pietra nera è molto utilizzata nell’architettura ligure e soprattutto nei comuni montani, dove viene adoperata per la copertura di tetti, balconi, pavimenti, caminetti e tavoli. Una storia, quella delle cave

di ardesia, nata nei primi anni ‘70, quando l’economia di quelle zone, fino allora principalmente agricola, subì un arresto a causa dell’abbandono delle campagne da parte dei giovani. Fu proprio in quel momento che un gruppo di imprenditori liguri, provenienti dalla Val Fontanabuona, tra Orero e Moconesi, alle spalle del meraviglioso Golfo del Tigullio nel Levante genovese, scoprirono le ricche cave di ardesia, che dalla Valle Argentina cominciarono a prendere la strada di tutto il mondo per mano di una decina di imprenditori liguri. Per quelle terre fu una vera e

propria boccata di ossigeno, anche se in molti preferirono continuare ad estrarre l’ardesia dalle già collaudate cave della Fontanabuona. Il comune di Triora vide in questa nuova avventura un’ottima opportunità per l’occupazione e decise quindi di cedere molti terreni comunali per consentire alle compagnie minerarie l’estrazione della pietra nera. Fu un azzardo che portò a un vero e proprio boom dell’estrazione dal 1975 al 1990 per poi continuare anche negli anni successivi, seppure con un leggero calo dovuto alla concorrenza cinese e brasiliana. Una pietra nera elegante, che

dona prestigio agli ambienti nei quali viene utilizzata.

Slate quarries Among the several resources of the beautiful Valle Argentina, there is one with an ancient and particularly fascinating taste. It’s the slate quarries that can be mainly found in the municipality of Triora, which represents a large part of the overall Italian production of the precious material. This black stone is widely used in Ligurian architecture and especially in the mountainous municipalities, where it is used to cover roofs, balconies, floors, fire-

places and tables. The story of slate quarries began in the early ‘70s when the economy of those areas, mainly agricultural up to that time, came to a standstill due to the abandonment of the countryside by young people. It was in that moment that a group of Ligurian entrepreneurs, coming from Val Fontanabuona, between Orero and Moconesi, behind the wonderful Gulf of Tigullio in the East of Genoa, discovered the rich slate quarries, which from Valle Argentina began to spread throughout the world thanks to dozens of Ligurian entrepreneurs. It was a real breath of oxygen for those lands, although many preferred to continue extracting the slate from the already proven Fontanabuona quarries. The municipality of Triora considered this new adventure as an excellent opportunity for employment and therefore decided to sell many municipal lands to allow mining companies to extract the black stone. It was an hazard that led to a real extraction boom, from 1975 to 1990 to then continue also in the following years, albeit with a slight decline due to the Chinese and Brazilian competition. des mines d’ardoise, principalement présentes dans la commune de Triora, qui représentent une grande partie de la production italienne du précieux matériel. Cette pierre noire est très utilisée dans l’architecture ligure, surtout dans les communes de montagne où elle est employée dans la couverture de toits, balcons, parterres, cheminées et tables. Une histoire, celle des mines d’ardoise, qui naît au début des année 1970, quand l’économie agricole avait ralenti à cause des jeunes qui abandonnaient les campagnes. C’est à ce moment-là qu’un groupe d’entrepreneurs ligures, venant de la Vallée Fontanabuona, entre Orero et Moconesi, aux épaules du magnifique Golfe du Tigullio dans le Levant génois, ont découvert les mines de cette ardoise qui, depuis la Vallée Argentina a commencé à prendre la route vers le monde entier. Pour ces terres cela a été une véritable bouchée d’oxygène, même si beaucoup ont préféré continuer d’exploiter les mines de Fontanabuona. La Municipalité de Triora a vu en cette nouvelle aventure une occasion pour l’occupation et a donc décidé de céder beaucoup de terrains pour permettre aux compagnies minières l’extraction de la pierre noire. Cela a été un hasard qui a porté un boom dans l’extraction entre 1975 et 1990 pour continuer encore dans les années suivantes, même si avec une baisse due à la

concurrence des marchés chinois et brésilien. Une pierre noire élégante, dont l’utilisation donne du prestige au bâtiment.

Речь идет о сланцевых каменоломнях, которые находятся, главным образом, на территории Муниципалитета Триоры, где сосредоточена большая часть всего добываемого на территории Италии этого ценного материала. Этот красивый черный камень широко используется в лигурийской архитектуре, особенно в горных поселениях, где применяется для покрытия крыш, балконов, полов, каминов и столов. Добыча сланца ардезита началась здесь в начале 70-х годов, когда в экономике этой территории, которая базировалась в

Erio acquistò sempre più fama, girando tutto il mondo con i gruppi francesi del tempo e stringendo amicizie importante anche con i cantanti italiani. Una vita divisa tra canto e ristorazione. Tripodi aprì locali tra Vallecrosia e Bordighera frequentati da vere e proprie celebrità. Poi nel 1964, insieme alle sorelle, l’apertura del ristorante a cui dette il suo nome e che, grazie al Museo, è diventato un simbolo del ponente ligure e non solo. Il museo è allestito all’interno di un treno vero, nel quale il visitatore è accompagnato in un lungo viaggio nel mondo della musica e della canzone. Al suo interno pezzi da collezione, come la bacchetta dei direttori d’orchestra Cinico

Angelini e Pippo Barzizza, la fisarmonica dell’indimenticabile Gorni Kramer, la chitarra di Adriano Celentano e addirittura una romanza di Ruggero Leoncavallo. Ma non è tutto, perché all’interno del museo si trovano migliaia di dischi catalogati e oltre diecimila spartiti, tra cui quelli che hanno fatto la storia del Festival di Sanremo, dal 1951 a oggi. Un museo visitabile gratuitamente su prenotazione, dal giovedì alla domenica, soltanto di mattina.

Musée de la chanson Le rêve de Erio Tripodi de créer un Musée de la chanson se réalise en 1989, l’événement est scellé par

un parrain exceptionnel : le grand ténor Luciano Pavarotti qui, dans les mêmes jours, est à Sanremo pour un concert à l’Ariston. L’histoire de Erio Tripodi contemple mille anecdotes et un destin qui l’a porté, à l’âge de 17 ans, à devenir commis de salle à l’Hôtel Métropole de Montecarlo. C’est là que Tripodi, fils d’émigrants calabrais avec la passion pour le chant, a commencé à connaître les personnages plus en vogue de l’époque : chanteurs, artistes, politiciens et sportifs. D’une année à l’autre, le grand Erio augmente de plus en plus sa notoriété, il voyage autour du monde avec les groupes français de l’époque où établi aussi des liens d’amitié avec les chanteurs italiens. Une vie partagée entre le chant et la restauration. Tripodi a ouvert des activités entre Vallecrosia et Bordighera qui étaient fréquentées par des vraies célébrités. Puis, en 1964, avec ses soeurs, l’ouverture du restaurant auquel a donné son nom et qui, grâce au Musée, est devenu un symbole du Ponant Ligure. Le musée est aménagé à l’intérieur d’un train (un vrai !), où le visiteur est accom-

pagné dans un long voyage dans le monde de la musique et de la chanson. On y trouve des pièces de collection, telles que la baguette des chefs d’orchestre Cinico Angelino et Pippo Barzizza, l’accordéon de l’inoubliable Gorni Kramer, la guitare de Adriano Celentano et même une romance de Ruggero Leoncavallo. Mais ce n’est pas tout, car dans le musée on trouve egalement des milliers de disques répertoriés et plus de dix-mille partitions, dont celles qui ont fait l’histoire du Festival de Sanremo depuis 1951 jusqu’à nos jours. Un musée qui peut se visiter gratuitement, sur réservation, que le matin, du jeudi au dimanche.

C’è una strada suggestiva e a picco sulla montagna che unisce Liguria, Francia e Piemonte. È una strada a rotaie percorsa dal “treno delle meraviglie” lungo il percorso ferroviario che da Cuneo scende verso la Val Roya, e che, ardito e panoramico, costeggia crinali e confini. Caratteristica pressoché unica, eredità della storia, è che partendo e arrivando da territori italiani i binari, per un tratto, attraversano ancora oggi il territorio francese. Nizza, Briga, Tenda e parti della Val Roya erano infatti, un tempo, Italia. Risalente all’epoca sabauda, la ferrovia fu un investimento voluto dal Regno di Piemon-

te. Realizzare una linea ferroviaria in aperta montagna ai primi del Novecento non fu cosa facile: il percorso rappresenta un unicum in tutta Europa per la destrezza architettonica e le innovative soluzioni ingegneristiche con cui fu costruito. In alcuni punti i 96 chilometri di strada arrivano fino a mille metri di quota, alternando viste mozzafiato a viadotti sospesi e passando in tunnel elicoidali che sfidano la verticalità. Ma ciò che rende unico il viaggio su questa tratta non è solo la sua storia internazionale o il genio ingegneristico, quanto il profilo culturale e paesaggistico del territorio attraverso cui si snoda, quello delle Alpi Marittime. In pochi chilometri il treno attraversa

montagne e pascoli alpini fino a toccare le colline degli uliveti e la costa, intrecciando cultura provenzale, ligure e piemontese e facendo della Cuneo-Ventimiglia una delle più rare linee - al contempo interregionali e internazionali - capace di mettere in comunicazione attraverso le rotaie identità, storie e cultura.

and borders, runs along the railway route which from Cuneo leads to the Val Roya. Almost a unique feature, a legacy of history, is the fact that leaving and arriving from Italy, the tracks, for a space, still run through French territory. Nice, Briga, Tenda and parts of Val Roya were indeed once, Italy. Dating back to the Savoy period, the railroad was an investment set up by the Kingdom of Piedmont. Building a railway line in the mountains in the early twentieth century was not easy: the route is unique throughout all of Europe thanks to the architectural and innovative engineering solutions with which it was built. Some points, along its 96 kilometres of

track, reach a thousand metres of altitude, alternating breath-taking views, suspended viaducts and spiral tunnels which defy gravity. But what makes the journey along this route unique is not just its international history or the engineering genius, but also the cultural and landscape profile of the area through which it runs, the Maritime Alps. In just a few kilometres, the train passes through mountains and alpine pastures reaching the hills of olive groves and the coast, weaving together the culture of Provence, Liguria and Piedmont and making the Cuneo-Ventimiglia one of the rarest railways - interregional and international at the same time - capable of connecting identity, history and culture by means of its rails.

Nice, Brigue, Tende et certaines parties de la Roya autrefois faisaient partie de l’Italie. Datant de l’époque savoyarde, le chemin de fer est un investissement voulu par le Royaume de Piémont. Réaliser une voie ferré sur les montagnes au début de 1900 n’a pas été un travail facile: le trajet représente quelque chose d’unique en Europe, pour l’adresse architecturale et les innovantes solutions d’ingénierie dont il a été construit. À certains endroits les 96 km de voie arrivent jusqu’à mille mètres d’altitude, en alternant des vues époustouflantes aux viaducs suspendus et en traversant des tunnels hélicoïdaux qui défient la verticalité. Ce qui rend unique le voyage sur ce parcours ce n’est pas que son histoire internationale où le génie du concepteur, mais aussi le profil culturel et paysager du territoire qui traverse, celui des Alpes Maritimes. En peu de kilomètres le train traverse montagnes et pâturages alpins pour arriver aux collines des oliveraies et sur la côte, mêlant les cultures provençale, ligure et piémontaise et en faisant de la Côni Vintimille un des trajets parmi les plus rares - interrégional et au même temps international - capable de mettre en communication, à travers les rails, identités, histoire et culture.

Все это и делает ветку Кунео - Вентимилья одной из редчайших линий, одновременно и межрегиональной и международной, способной соединять истории и культуры.

Limone Piemonte è una delle località protagoniste non solo della storia dello sci in Italia, ma anche della sua stessa nascita. Tutto iniziò nel 1896, quando l’ingegnere svizzero Adolfo Kind portò gli sci al di qua delle Alpi, spiegando l’utilizzo di questi innovativi legni nei salotti torinesi e destando un interesse tale che un reparto speciale di “Alpini Skiatori” scelse Limone Piemonte per le proprie esercitazioni. Il 3 marzo 1907 iniziarono le competizioni sulle pendici del monte Vecchio tra alcune squadre di 5 alpini. Da qui fu tutta una discesa: nel 1937 l’installazione del primo impianto di risalita, lo

slittone, capace di fare superare i 700 metri di dislivello tra l’imbocco del tunnel e il rifugio Tres-amis; l’anno dopo una slittovia sull’attuale seggiovia del Sole. Dopo l’interruzione per la guerra, nel 1948 ripartirono le discese con l’inaugurazione della seggiovia monoposto del Cros. Da allora sembra siano passati secoli, oggi il comprensorio sciistico di Limone Piemonte è denominato Riserva Bianca e si snoda su 80 chilometri di piste, tutte sci ai piedi, nelle diverse aree: Limone 1400, Limonetto, Maneggio e Colle di Tenda con piste di diversa difficoltà e con la bella pista Alpetta Olimpica.

Tra i suoi giocatori ricordiamo Renzo Furlan, Ivan Ljubicic, Richard Gasquet, Milos Raonic e tanti altri nomi conosciuti nel pa-

Nell’aprile del 2016, a ricordare il legame tra Sanremo e la floricoltura, ha aperto i battenti Floriseum, il Museo del Fiore. Sorto nel parco di Villa Ormond, si alterna su due locali che ospitano mostre e attività: la palazzina Winter, sede permanente, e la serra liberty Prediali, padiglione per le esposizioni temporanee. L’idea di Floriseum nasce dalla donazione che la vedo-

va dell’ibridatore di garofani Ermanno Moro ha fatto al Comune di Sanremo: l’intera collezione di documenti del marito ha costituito il primo nucleo del Museo ed è ora situata al piano superiore della palazzina Winter. Ad accogliere il visitatore, al piano terra, un filmato introduttivo su Sanremo e la tradizione della floricoltura, oltre a un totem multimediale che illustra le specie botaniche del parco di Villa Ormond e ad alcune teche informative

sulle attività dei diversi istituti di ricerca che partecipano alle attività del centro. Floriseum è infatti guidato da un comitato scientifico che si occupa delle mostre e degli eventi, ne fanno parte, tra gli altri, il Comune di Sanremo, dipartimenti e Centri dell’Università di Genova, ma anche l’Istituto Sperimentale per la Floricoltura di Sanremo (CREA-FSO) e l’Istituto Regionale per la Floricoltura (IRF). Dopo l’inaugurazione primaverile che ha stuzzicato

la curiosità dei sanremesi e dei turisti, il 2017 ha visto una mostra sulle rose, una sulle piante succulente, le esposizioni di piante “aliene” non autoctone e di quelle descritte nei romanzi di Emilio Salgari. Un mondo da scoprire dentro e fuori dai padiglioni, dove si apre il parco di Villa Ormond, tra le 8 new entry dei Grandi Giardini Italiani (120 in totale quelli selezionati dal network nel Belpaese) con le sue specie rare, gli splendidi ficus e i grandi cespugli di ibisco.

Floriseum, the Flower Museum of Sanremo Collections, exhibitions and an enchanted garden to narrate the floriculture world In April 2016, to remember the connection between Sanremo and floriculture, Floriseum opened its doors, the Flower Museum. Located in the park of Villa Ormond, it develops on two venues hosting exhibitions and activities: the Winter building, permanent location, and the Prediali liberty greenhouse, pavilion for the temporary exhibitions. The idea of Floriseum was born from the donation that the widow of the carnations hybridizer Ermanno Moro made to the City of Sanremo: the entire collection of documents of her husband was the first nucleus of the Museum and is now located on the upper floor of Winter building. Welcoming the visitors on the ground floor, there is an introductory movie about Sanremo and the floriculture tradition, as well as a multimedia totem depicting the botanical species of the Villa Ormond park and some informational displays about the activities of the several research institutes participating in the center activities. Floriseum is in fact led by a scientific committee dealing with exhibitions and events whose members, among the others, are the City of Sanremo, departments and Centers of the University of Genoa, but also the Experimental Institute for the Floriculture of Sanremo (CREA-FSO) and the Regional Institute for the Floriculture (IRF). After the spring inauguration that provoked the curiosity of Sanremes and tourists, 2017 has displayed an exhibition on roses, one on the succulent plants, the exhibitions on the non-native “alien” plants and those described on the novels by Emilio Salgari. vitrines avec des informations à l’égard du travail des instituts de recherches qui participent aux activités du centre. Floriseum est en fait dirigé par un comité scientifique qui s’occupe des expositions et des événements, réunissant notamment, entre autres, la municipalité de Sanremo, des départements et Centres de l’Université de Gênes, mais aussi l’Istituto Sperimentale per la Floricoltura di Sanremo (CREA-FSO) et l’Istituto Regionale per la Floricoltura (IRF). Après l’inauguration printanière qui a piqué la curiosité des autochtones et des touristes, le 2017 a vu des expositions à l’égard de roses, de plantes succulentes, de plantes non autochtones ou ‘’exotiques’’ et de celles mentionnées dans les romans de Emilio Salgari. Sulla scorta della felice esperienza degli agriturismi, il Governo italiano una decina di anni fa decise di permettere anche agli imprenditori ittici di allargare la propria attività e aprirsi all’ospitalità. Ittiturismo, quindi, come possibilità per il consumatore di esercitare un turismo responsabile e al contempo come dignitosa alternativa reddituale per il pescatore professionale. La filosofia del prodotto “a km zero” è alla base della ristorazione del M/B Patrizia, dove M/B sta per motobarca e Patrizia è un omaggio alla mamma di Di Gerlando. “Il pesce arriva sulla tavola una manciata di ore dopo da quando viene scaricato

dalla barca dei Di Gerlando– racconta Manuel Marchetta, chef del ristorante- Dal mare direttamente alla tavola: è il fondamento della nostra cucina”. Ma la “religione” del chilometro zero è applicata a tutta la proposta gastronomica. “Le verdure, i prodotti caseari e altri ingredienti provengono da fornitori locali. Siamo attenti a questo aspetto e alla stagionalità del prodotto”. La stagionalità diventa il dictat di una cucina fresca e genuina. Precisa ancora lo chef Marchetta: “Io cambio la carta una volta al mese proprio per proporre alla clientela piatti di qualità elevata, cercando sempre l’appena colto o l’appena pescato o lavorato”. Nel menù del M/B Patrizia il cliente trova pesce freschis-

simo, prodotti locali e ricette curate in grado di valorizzare al massimo la qualità di ciò che si serve. “Di fronte a un pescato eccelso come quello che offre il nostro mare è giusto e doveroso per la nostra cucina far esaltare in maniera perfetta il prodotto”, spiega ancora lo chef Marchetta. Chef Marchetta also emphasises: “I change the menu once a month precisely in order to deliver high quality dishes to my clients, always trying to look for the freshly picked or freshly caught or processed product”. The M/B Patrizia menu always offers customers fresh fish, local produce and special recipes able to maximise the quality of what is being served. “In view of the excellent catch offered by our sea, it is only right and proper that our kitchen should perfectly enhance the product,” explains chef Marchetta. Ittiturismo Sur la base de l’heureuse expérience de l’agrotourisme, le Gouvernement italien a décidé, il y a une dizaine d’années, de permettre aux entrepreneurs de la pêche d’enrichir leur activité et ouvrir à l’hospitalité. ‘’Ittiturismo’’ donc, comme une chance pour le consommateur de faire du tourisme responsable et, en même temps, comme une opportunité de revenu alternatif pour le pêcheur professionnel. La philosophie du produit à ‘’kilomètre zéro’’ est à la base de la restauration du M/B Patrizia, où M/B signifie bateau à moteur et Patrizia est un hommage à la maman de Di Gerlando. ‘’Le poisson arrive sur la table juste quelques heures après avoir été déchargé du bateau des Di Gerlando – nous explique Manuel Marchetta, chef du restaurant – de la mer directement sur la ta-

ble : c’est le fondamental de notre cuisine’’. Mais la ‘’religion’’ du kilomètre zéro et suivie pour toute proposition culinaire. ‘’Les légumes, les produits laitiers et les autres ingrédients sortent de producteurs du pays. ‘’Nous sommes très sensibles à cet aspect et au caractère saisonnier des produit’’. La saisonnalité devient le dictat de la cuisine fraiche et naturelle. Précise encore le chef Marchetta : ‘’Je change le menu une fois par mois précisément pour proposer aux clients des plats de qualité, en cherchant toujours les produits qui viennent d’être cueillis, péchés ou traités.’’ Sur le menu du M/B Patrizia le client trouve toujours du poisson très frais, des produits autochtones et des recettes qui valorisent au maximum la qualité des produits servis. ‘’ Devant un pêché sublime comme celui qui nous offre notre mer il est juste et impératif que notre cuisine exalte le produit de manière parfaite’’, explique encore le chef Marchetta.

Dopo l’inaugurazione della scorsa estate, proseguono le ricerche legate al progetto Antea, guidato dal CREA OF (Consiglio per la Ricerca in agricoltura e l’Economia Agraria) di Sanremo sui fiori cosiddetti commestibili. Occhi e microscopi puntati sui fiori eduli, di cui indagare le proprietà e le caratteristiche organolettiche, con l’obiettivo di promuovere una nuova filiera sostenuta dal mondo della ricerca, dai produttori e dai cuochi, chiamati a raccogliere l’invito e a esprimere la propria creatività attraverso gusti, petali e colori. ner francesi dell’iniziativa, che insieme alle Università di Torino e Genova stanno lavorando al campionamento e alla raccolta dati per un primo studio dei fiori che sarà possibile mangiare. Negli scorsi mesi si è inoltre tenuto ad Albenga un primo incontro con i produttori, dei quali molto pochi si occupano attualmente di fiori eduli, mentre altri si sono dimostrati interessati a intraprendere il percorso. Antea è arrivata anche a Sanremo con Gusto, durante il quale è stato predisposto dal CREA OF materiale divulgativo per illustrare le diverse specie di fiori commestibili con le loro specifiche e proprietà. lizzati ancora come semplice decorazione, mentre tra gli obiettivi del progetto c’è anche quello di avere a disposizione sufficiente materiale da proporre ai cuochi per un concreto uso in cucina. fixed on the edible flowers to analyse their organoleptic characteristics and properties with a view to developing a new production sector underpinned by the world of research, by producers and by chefs, who have been asked to accept the invite and demonstrate their creativity through flavours, petals and colours. A diverse array of initiatives are due to take place in the area between Sanremo and the project’s partner towns in France, who are working together with the Universities of Turin and Genoa to collect samples and data in preparation for an initial study into these edible flowers. Furthermore, an initial meeting was

recently held in Albenga with the producers, a few of whom already operate in the field of edible flowers, whilst others have expressed an interest in getting involved. Antea was also present at Sanremo con Gusto (Sanremo with taste), during which CREA OF handed out material aimed at illustrating the various species of edible flowers and their specific properties and characteristics. Currently, the flowers are just used for simple decorative purposes, but one of the objectives of the project is to gather sufficient information to encourage chefs to make more concrete use of them in their cooking.

Les yeux et les microscopes misés sur les fleurs comestibles pour en étudier les propriétés et les caractéristiques organoleptiques, avec le but d’encourager une nouvelle filière supportée par le monde de la recherche, les producteurs et les chefs, invités à relever ce défi et exprimer leur créativité avec les goûts, les pétales et les couleurs. Beaucoup sont les parcours au départ entre Sanremo et les partenaires français de l’initiative qui, avec les Universités de Gênes et de Turin, sont en train de travailler au sondage et à la récolte de donnés pour une première étude sur les fleurs qu’il sera possible de consommer. Au cours des mois passés elle s’est aussi tenue, à Albenga, une première rencontre avec les producteurs. Pour l’instant pas beaucoup d’entre eux s’occupent de fleurs comestibles, mais ils sont

В прошедшие месяцы, кроме того, в Альбенге состоялась первая встреча с производителями, среди которых пока мало кто занимается выращиванием съедобных цветов, но многие выказали свой интерес к учебному курсу. «Antea» присутствовала также на фестивале «Sanremo con Gusto», во время которого распространялись подготовленные CREA OF материалы, иллюстрирующие различные виды пригодных в пищу цветов, их свойства и особенности. В настоящее время цветы в основном используются для декорирования блюд, в то время как цель проекта: дать шефповарам достаточно информации по их возможному применению на кухне.

Vi trovate in via Madonna Pellegrina, lungo un’estesa varietà di colori e profumi sulle alture di Sanremo, a Coldirodi, dove Leo Farchiata e la compagna Paola hanno messo a dimora una loro passione da quattro anni a questa parte. Questa coppia di sanremesi, lei insegnante di italiano, greco e latino e lui ex uomo di mare, hanno capito che il peperoncino era molto richiesto e che quindi ci si poteva “buttare” in questa avventura. Un business a chilometro zero che

ha visto l’appoggio di Campagna Amica, l’Associazione che si occupa delle piccole realtà imprenditoriali e che ha supportato l’azienda familiare “Vivi Piccante” facendola partecipare a vari eventi e fiere nazionali. I semi che la coppia utilizza e coltiva provengono da varie parti del mondo e in prevalenza dal Sud America, Paesi Caraibici, Indonesia, India e Africa. Semi che Paola e Leo coltivano in parte a cielo aperto e in parte in serra e che producono meravigliose piante di peperoncino dai mille sapori diversi, anche grazie al clima della nostra riviera dei fiori. Tra le 160 varietà di peperon-

cino la più apprezzata è anche quella più piccante del mondo, ossia la “Carolina Reaper”, oltre ovviamente ai vari peperoncini indiani mischiati con quelli caraibici. Una vasta offerta che ogni anno vede immettere sul mercato il 40% di nuove varietà che vanno ad affiancarsi a un’ampia gamma di peperoncini selvatici e più tradizionali. Paola e Leo sono anche molto abili a consigliare gli abbinamenti giusti per ogni tipo di peperoncino, anche se non hanno ancora creato un vero e proprio ricettario. Non resta che andare a trovarli a Coldirodi e di farsi accompagnare alla scoperta dei gusti più piccanti.

You are in via Madonna Pellegrina in Coldirodi, among an extensive variety of colours and scents on the heights behind Sanremo, where Leo Farchiata and his partner Paola have set down roots with their passion for the past four years. This couple from Sanremo, she is a teacher of Italian, Greek and Latin and he is an ex sailor, understood that chilies were very much in demand and that therefore it was possible to plunge into this adventure.

A farm-to-table enterprise which has been assisted by Campagna Amica, the Association which deals with small businesses and has supported the family farm “Vivi Piccante” by helping it to attend various national events and fairs. The seeds farmed by the couple originate from different parts of the world, mainly from South America, the Caribbean, Indonesia, India and Africa. Paola and Leo grow these seeds partly in the open air and partly in greenhouses and they produce wonderful chili plants with a thousand different flavours, thanks also to the mild climate of our Riviera dei Fiori. Among the 160 varieties, the most appreciated is also the world’s hottest, that is the “Carolina Reaper”, in addition to various Indian chilies mixed with ones from the Caribbean of course. A vast offer which places 40% of new varieties on the market each year, joining a wide range of wild and more traditional chilies. Paola and Leo are also very good at suggesting the right combination for each type of chili, even though they haven’t yet created an actual recipe book. Now all that remains to be done, is to go and visit them in Coldirodi in order to discover the hottest flavours. Les graines utilisées par le couple viennent de différentes parties du monde et principalement de l’Amérique du Sud, les Pays des Caraïbes, l’Indonésie, l’Inde et l’Afrique. Des graines que Paola et Léo cultivent en serre et à ciel ouvert et qui produisent de merveilleuses plantes de piments aux milles saveurs, grâce aussi au climat de notre Rivera des fleurs. Parmi les 160 variétés de piments, la plus apprécié est aussi la plus piquante au monde, c’est à dire la ‘’Carolina Reaper’’, outre évidement les piments indiens mélangés avec ceux des Caraïbes. Une offre très varié qui tous les ans introduit sur le marché le 40% de nouvelles variétés qui s’ajoutent au large choix de piments sauvages et plus traditionnels. Paola et Léo, même s’ils n’ont pas encore écrit un livre de recettes, sont aussi très compétents pour conseiller le bon mariage pour chaque varieté de piment. Il ne reste plus qu’à les rencontrer à Coldirodi et se faire accompagner à la découverte des goûts les plus piquants.
