Perché Sanremo è Sanremo non è soltanto il fortunato jingle coniato quasi 25 anni fa dal compianto maestro Pippo Caruso. È la sintesi più calzante di un dato di fatto. Sanremo è una città speciale, microcosmo di storia, cultura, sport ai massimi livelli e avvenimenti che ne fanno una metafora di eccellenza sotto tanti aspetti. È una città da scoprire, che in parte cerchiamo su queste pagine di raccontare. La nascita di The Mall Sanremo, secondo polo commerciale del lusso d'Italia, la ripresa dei lavori di un auditorium a poche decine di metri dal mare, Villa Ormond, il grande progetto di restyling del porto vecchio, pensato come parte integrante della Movida cittadina, una nuova imprenditoria che acquista vecchi alberghi e li porta all'eccellenza. Tutti segnali incoraggianti. È in atto, ormai da qualche anno, un percorso di crescita, economica, turistica, sociale e culturale che promette un'onda lunga di cui l'intero comprensorio potrà beneficiare. Lasciata Sanremo, dopo un bagno di amarcord con il grande fotografo e collezionista Alfredo Moreschi, siamo andati a caccia di altre eccellenze di ponente, che abbiamo provato a riassumere, raccontando le meraviglie dei Giardini Hanbury, del futuro Waterfront di Ventimiglia, dove altri illuminati imprenditori chiedono di poter investire centinaia di milioni tra il nuovo porto e l'affascinante città vecchia. Da un estremo all'altro della Riviera di ponente, passando per gli scavi archeologici di Costa Balenae a Riva Ligure, visitiamo il Museo Civico Marm di Diano Marina, altro scrigno di un passato tutto da scoprire. Oltreconfine andiamo a visitare la romanzesca Port Grimaud, le splendide calanques dell'Esterel, gli eventi Ironman di Nizza e Solar&Energy Boat Challenge di Monaco. Because Sanremo is Sanremo is not only the famous jingle coined almost 25 years ago by the lamented master Pippo Caruso. It is the most well-fitting synthesis of a fact. Sanremo is a special city, a microcosm of history, culture, sports at the highest levels and events that make it a metaphor of excellence in many respects. It is a city to discover, which we partly try to narrate on these pages. The birth of The Mall Sanremo, the second luxury shopping centre in Italy, the resumption of the works of an auditorium a few tens of meters from the sea, Villa Ormond, the great restyling project of the old port, which is intended as an integral part of the city nightlife, a new business community that buys hotels and makes them excellent. These are all encouraging signs. An economic, tourist, social and cultural growth process has been underway for some years now, which promises a long renovation the entire area will benefit from. Leaving Sanremo, after a nostalgic indulgence with the great photographer and collector Alfredo Moreschi, we went on the hunt of other western Liguria excellences, which we tried to summarize telling about the wonders of the Hanbury Gardens and the future of Waterfront of Ventimiglia, where other enlightened entrepreneurs ask for investing hundreds of millions between the new port and the fascinating old city. From one end of the Ligurian west coast to the other, passing through the archaeological excavations of Costa Balenae in Riva Ligure, we visit the Marm Civic Museum of Diano Marina, another jewel of a past to be discovered. Beyond the borders, we visit the romantic Port Grimaud, the splendid calanques of the Esterel, as well as the events Ironman of Nice and Solar&Energy Boat Challenge of Monaco. There is so much to see and admire in this strip of land kissed by the sea and a weather that, not surprisingly, a recent scientific investigation renamed it as the best of Italy.

Parce que Sanremo est Sanremo ce n'est pas que le jingle de succès inventé il y a presque 25 ans par le regretté maître Pippo Caruso. C'est le meilleur résumé d'un fait réel. Sanremo est une ville spéciale, un microcosme d'histoire, culture, sport de très haut niveau et d'évènements qui en font une métaphore d'excellence sous bien des aspects. C'est une ville à découvrir, que nous essayons de raconter en partie dans ces pages. La naissance de The Mall à Sanremo, deuxième pôle commerciale du luxe en Italie, la reprise des travaux d'un auditorium à peu de dizaines de mètres de la mer, Villa Ormond, le grand projet de restyling du vieux port, pansé comme une partie intégrante de la Movida locale, un nouveau entrepreneuriat qui achète les anciens hôtels et les amène à l'excellence. Ce sont tous des signes encourageants. Il est en cours, depuis désormais quelques années, un parcours de croissance, économique, touristique, sociale et culturelle qui promet une longue vague dont tout le territoire pourra bénéficier. Une fois Sanremo quittée, après un bain de souvenirs avec le grand photographe et collectionneur Alfredo Moreschi, nous sommes allés à la chasse d'autres excellences du Ponant, que nous avons essayé de résumer, en racontant les merveilles des Jardins Hanbury, du futur Waterfront de Vintimille où d'autres entrepreneurs illuminés demandent à pouvoir investir des centaines de millions entre le nouveau port et la vieille ville. D'une extrémité à l'autre de la Riviera du Ponant, en passant par les fouilles de Costa Balenae à Riva Ligure, nous visitons le Musée Civil Marm de Diano Marina, un autre écrin d'un passé tout à découvrir. De l'autre côté de la frontière nous allons visiter la romancière Port Grimaud, les splendides calanques de l'Esterel, les événements Ironman de Nice et Solar&Energy Boat Challenge de Monaco. Il y a tellement à voir, tellement à admirer de ce petit bout de terre embrassée par la mer et par un climat qui, ce n'est pas par hasard, une récente recherche scientifique a promu comme le meilleur d'Italie.

Sono i dettagli a fare la differenza: ogni petalo è leggermente diverso dall’altro; le nervature dei petali sono visibili anche sul retro, lo smalto è posato a mano e un fiore più piccolo in oro si contrappone sul gambo dell’anello a quello più centrale. Dopo il fiore arrivano i frutti, due ciondoli in oro che prendono la forma di due ciliegie con il picciolo leggermente coperto da una fogliolina. Nella versione più preziosa ogni ciliegia è ricoperta da rubini rossi incassati sull’oro brunito.

The DoDo Spring Summer 2019 collection is a poetic hymn to nature and spring awakening. Dodo brand has always had respect for nature and a

The Collection presents a series of jewels that revolve around the figure of the cherry Tree, that is the plant universally associated with the explosion of scents, colours and vitality peculiar to spring. The cherry Tree pendant with its wrapping frond is proposed in two versions – one made of 18-carat rose gold and the other dotted with rubies chosen in different shades to recall the sakura flowering. Two rings and a pendant in enamelled rose gold represent the cherry flower, the DoDo’s jewel of nature and life cycle.

The details make the difference – each petal is slightly different from the others; the petal ribs are visible also on the back, the enamel is laid by hand and a smaller flower in gold is contrasted on the stem of the ring with the more central one.

After the flower the fruits show up – two gold pendants take the shape of two cherries with the stalk slightly covered by a leaflet. In the most precious version, each cherry is covered with red rubies encased in burnished gold.

La collection Printemps-Été 2019 de DoDo est un hymne poétique à la nature et au réveil de printemps. La marque DoDo a toujours eu à cœur le respect pour la nature et pour les animaux. La collection PE2019 s’insère dans cette trace, en célébrant le cycle de la vie avec l'approche artisanale et l'attention pour les formes organiques qui sont typiques de DoDo.

Le pendentif Arbre de cerisier avec ses frondes enveloppantes est proposé dans la version en or rose 18 carats et dans la version parsemée de rubis, choisis en différentes gradations, qui rappellent la floraison des sakura. Deux bagues et un pendentif en or rose émaillé représentent par contre la fleur de cerisier, un bijou de la nature et du cycle de la vie de DoDo. Ce sont les détails qui font la différence: chaque pétale est légèrement différent de l'autre; les nervures des pétales sont visibles aussi au verso, l'émail est posé à la main et une fleur plus petite en or s'oppose sur la tige de la bague à celui plus central. Après la fleur arrivent les fruits, deux pendentifs en or qui prennent la forme de deux cerises avec la queue légèrement caché par une petite feuille. Dans la version plus précieuse chaque cerise est couverte de rubis rouges enchâssés sur l'or bruni.

Not many cities in Italy and throughout the world, similar in terms of size and number of inhabitants (less than 55,000) to Sanremo, can boast such international fame, appeal, and a wealth of history and culture related to tourism, sport, singing and business, not to mention its glorious architectural heritage. Let's start by clarifying that the city's name is just one word, Sanremo, and not San Remo, which would translate into Saint Remo. Indeed, a Saint called Remo has never existed. It's a succession of stunning buildings, from the Casino located in corso Inglesi, a beautiful liberty style building erected in the early 20th century by the French architect Eugène Ferret, to Villa Nobel, the great Swedish scientist's final residence. Abbiamo incontrato Alfredo, con il quale abbiamo ripercorso l'intera parabola di una dinastia di fotografi che da decenni a Sanremo sono sinonimo di qualità, eleganza, eccellenza. «Io rappresento la quarta generazione di una famiglia di fotografi. Mia figlia, Annamaria, che gestisce con me tutto l’archivio, incarna la quinta generazione. Il mio bisnonno, che ha iniziato a fare il fotografo dopo i 35 anni, aveva lo studio di famiglia a Salsomaggiore, specializzato nei ritratti ai notabili, ma nella stagione del turismo si spostava in località come San Pellegrino Terme, Sanremo e Bordighera». Cosa lo ha spinto a fotografare i turisti? «A inizio Ottocento, prima della nascita della fotografia, i luoghi erano documentati da miniature, dipinti o scritti. Quando la fotografia divenne la vera consegnataria della realtà, per questi artisti si aprì un mondo nuovo. Con lo sviluppo del turismo, mio nonno iniziò a eseguire ritratti, foto di gruppi, di cerimonie e altro. In quegli anni la fotografia era praticata solo da chi la poteva esercitare professionalmente».

Quando è iniziato il suo approccio alla fotografia? «Io ho proseguito l’attività di mio padre, Gianni, giunto a Bordighera per fare l’ultimo scatto ufficiale alla Regina Margherita di Savoia. Decise di rimanere per un certo periodo, considerando che a Sanremo il turismo era diffuso in quegli anni anche nei mesi invernali. Stabilisce di trasferirsi con la famiglia aprendo nella storica sede di via Matteotti il negozio nel 1927 e diventando il fotografo ufficiale del Casinò. Poi nasco io, nel 1931. La mia attività inizia quando avevo diciassette anni, seguito da un biennio di apprendistato a Milano, nel 1950. Ho cominciato successivamente a fare i primi Festival della Canzone e ho proseguito per quattro anni come fotografo del Casinò. In quel periodo avevo tanto lavoro ed ero anche corrispondente dei servizi filmati per la RAI». Il padre di Alfredo Moreschi, Gianni, fu tra l'altro insignito del titolo di Cavaliere del Regno d’Italia dalla stessa Regina Margherita di Savoia, e autorizzato a fregiarsi del titolo di fornitore della Real casa, del Duca di Genova e del Duca degli Abruzzi. con il quale aveva collaborato personalmente alla stampa di fotografie delle sue spedizioni. Nel corso della sua carriera ha avuto l’occasione di fotografare molti personaggi, ha qualche aneddoto da raccontare? «Diciamo che in genere erano reportage, mi ricordo però che nel mio studio venne un giorno Domenico Modugno. Per me è stato un fatto

molto importante, perché il giorno prima era un cantante come tutti gli altri, venuto per esibirsi. Ma la sera che ha vinto il Festival, con “Nel blu dipinto di blu” è diventato una star mondiale. Il mattino successivo è venuto in studio, con due radio in mano, a fare un servizio fotografico per un suo amico. Sebbene la gratifica fu una stretta di mano, per me ha rappresentato un valore inestimabile». Nell’archivio fotografico Moreschi, l’unico attrezzato archivio fotografico privato e documentale della Provincia di Imperia, sono contenute immagini realizzate dai diversi “Moreschi- Antonelli” che si sono alternati negli anni o donate da altri studi attivi in zona come Luisa Berardi Ceresani, Gianni Sappa e da collezionisti come Marco Fittà. Fanno parte del materiale iconografico anche altre collezioni acquisite nel tempo da privati e donate da colleghi che risalgono al periodo successivo all’invenzione della fotografia. Presso la nostra sede di Sanremo in via Matteotti è stato nel tempo allestita una collezione privata di macchine fotografiche d'epoca che raccoglie un migliaio di pezzi prodotti nel mondo a partire dal 1850. Moreschi Archive Sanremo. Interview with Alfredo Moreschi The Moreschi Photography Studio is a centenarian business founded by Alfredo’s great-grandfather Luigi in 1872 in Palazzolo sull’Oglio in the province of Brescia. We met up with Alfredo and together we retraced the entire course of a dynasty of photographers in Sanremo who for decades have been synonymous with quality, elegance and excellence. “I represent the fourth generation of a family of photographers. My daughter, Annamaria, who manages the whole archive with me, personifies the fifth generation. My great-grandfather, who started working as a photographer after he was 35, had the family studio in Salsomaggiore, specialised in portraits of important people, but during the tourist season, he would move to towns such as San Pellegrino Terme, Sanremo and Bordighera.” What drove him to photograph tourists? “At the beginning of the 1800s, before photography came into being, places were documented with painted or written miniatures. When photography became

the true recipient of reality, a new world opened up for these artists. With the development of tourism, my grandfather began to do portraits, group photos, for ceremonies and such. In those years, photography was done only by those who were able to do it professionally.” When did you begin to approach photography? “I continued on with the business of my father, Gianni, who came to Bordighera to take the last official photo of Queen Margherita of Savoy. He decided to remain for a certain period, since the tourism in Sanremo was widespread in those years, even during the winter months. He decided to move with the family opening up the shop in the historic location at via Matteotti in 1927 and becoming the official photographer for the Casino. Then, I was born in 1931. My business began when I was seventeen years old, followed by a twoyear apprenticeship in Milan, in 1950. Subsequently, I began to do the first Song Festivals and I continued for another four years as the photographer of the casino. In

that period, I had lots of work and I was also a correspondent of video reportages for the RAI.” Alfredo Moreschi’s father, Gianni, was also made a knight of the Kingdom of Italy by Queen Margherita of Savoy herself and he was granted the title of Supplier of the Royal House, of the Duke of Genoa and of the Duke of the Abruzzi, who he personally collaborated with on printing photos of his expeditions. During the course of your career you had the opportunity of photographing many celebrities. Do you have any anecdotes to tell? “Let’s say, in general, they were reportages, however, I remember one day Domenico Modugno walked into my studio. For me it was a very important moment because the day before he was just a singer like everyone else, who came to perform. But the night he won the Festival with “Nel blu dipinto di blu”, he became a world star. The following morning, he came into the studio with two radios in his hand to do a photo shoot for his friend. Although the compensation was a handshake, for me it was priceless.”

In the Moreschi photographic archives, the only private and documented photographic archive in the province of Imperia, there are images taken by the different “Moreschi’s-Antonelli’s” who alternated over the years or donated by other studios working in the area like Luisa Berardi Ceresani, Gianni Sappa and by collectors such as Marco Fittà. The iconographic material also includes other collections acquired over time by private individuals and donated by colleagues dating back to the period following the invention of photography. In our main studio in Sanremo in via Matteotti, a private collection of vintage cameras has been assembled over time which contains a thousand pieces produced throughout the world starting from 1850. The Archive, partially made visible on the pages of the website moreschiphoto.it, can be viewed by the public, just as the private collection relative to the equipment is also accessible along with that of the most antique vintage images, through appointment by telephone.

Nous avons rencontré Alfredo, avec qui nous avons retracé la parabole d'une dynastie de photographes qui depuis des décennies à Sanremo sont le synonyme de qualité, élégance, excellence. « Je représente la quatrième génération d'une famille de photographes. Ma fille, Annamaria, qui gère avec moi tous les archives, incarne la cinquième génération. Mon arrière-grand-père qui a débuté comme photographe après ses 35 ans, avait le studio de famille à Salsomaggiore, il était spécialisé dans les portraits des notables, mais dans la saison du tourisme il se déplaçait dans des endroits tels que San Pellegrino Terme, Sanremo et Bordighera ». Qu'est-ce qui l'a poussé à photographier les touristes ? « Au début du XIX siècle, avant la naissance de la photographie, les lieux étaient documentés moyennant des miniatures, des tableaux ou des récits. Une fois la photographie devenue la vraie dépositaire de la réalité, un nouveau

monde s'est ouvert à ces artistes. Avec le développement du tourisme, mon grand-père a commencé à faire des portraits, des photos de groupes, de cérémonies et d'autres. Dans ces années-là la photographie n'était pratiquée que par qui pouvait l'exercer en professionnel». Quand a-t-il commencé votre approche à la photographie ? « J'ai continué l'activité de mon père, Gianni, venu à Bordighera pour faire la dernière photo officielle de la reine Marguerite de Savoie. Il a décidé de rester pour un certain temps, en considérant que dans ces années-là le tourisme à Sanremo était rependu même l'hiver. Il décide de déménager avec la famille en ouvrant le magasin dans le siège historique de via Matteotti en 1927 et en devenant le photographe officiel du Casino. Ensuite, ma naissance, en 1931. Mon activité débute quand j'avais dix-sept ans, suivie de deux ans d'apprentissage à Milan, en 1950. Par la suite j'ai commencé à suivre les premiers Festival de la Chanson et j'ai continué pendant quatre ans comme photographe du Casino. À cette époque j'avais beaucoup de travail et j'étais aussi le correspondant des services filmés pour la RAI ».

Le père de Alfredo Moreschi, Gianni, a entre autres été décoré du titre de ''Cavaliere del Regno d'Italia'' par la Reine Marguerite de Savoie elle-même, et autorisé à porter le titre de fournisseur de la maison Royale, du Duc de Gênes et du Duc des Abruzzes, avec qui il avait collaboré personnellement à l'impression de photographies de ses expéditions. Au cours de votre carrière vous avez eu l’occasion de photographier beaucoup de personnages, avez-vous quelques anecdotes à nous rapporter? « Disons qu'en général c’était des reportages, je me rappelle quandmême que dans mon studio un jour est venu Domenico Modugno. Ceci a été pour moi un fait très important, car le jour d'avant il était un chanteur comme tous les autres, venu pour s'exhiber. Mais le soir où il a gagné le Festival avec ''Nel blu dipinto di blu'' il est devenu une star mondiale. Le matin d'après il est arrivé dans mon studio, avec deux radios dans les mains, pour faire un reportage photographique pour un ami. Même si la prime a été une poignée de main, pour moi a représenté une valeur inestimable ».

Dans les archives photographiques de Moreschi, les seuls archives photographiques privés équipés et documentaires de la province de Imperia, y sont conservées les images réalisées par les plusieurs ''Moreschi-Antonelli'' qui se sont alternés au fil des ans, ou offertes par d'autres studios actifs dans la zone comme Luisa Berardi Ceresani, Gianni Sappa et par des collectionneurs comme Marco Fittà. Elles font partie du matériel iconographique aussi d'autres collections, acquises au fil du temps par des particuliers et offertes par des collègues, qui remontent à la période suivante l'invention de la photographie. Dans notre siège de via Matteotti à Sanremo au fil du temps a été aménagé une collection d'appareils photo d'époque qui recueille un millier de pièces produites dans le monde à partir de 1850. Il risultato fu che tre anni dopo, nell’allora via Vittorio, aprì i battenti lo Studio Moreschi ed oggi, su queste pagine, si da inizio alla breve rassegna di “graffiti” dall’omonimo archivio. The last photograph of the first Queen of Italy, Margherita of Savoy, was taken at Salsomaggiore by Gianni Moreschi in the spring of 1925. The following year, my father was summoned by the Sovereign to Bordighera to create some portraits of her niece Maria. During that short stay, he met my mother Anna Ronchi. The result was that three years after, in the then via Vittorio, Studio Moreschi saw the light and today, on these pages, the brief “graffiti” review taken from the homonymous archive has started. La dernière photo de la première Reine d'Italie, Marguerite de Savoie, a été prise à Salsomaggiore par Gianni Moreschi au printemps 1925. L'année suivante, mon père a été convoqué par la Souveraine à Bordighera pour réaliser quelques portraits à la nièce Marie; pendant ce bref séjour il a connu ma mère. Fra le opere di mio padre Gianni risalta anche un lungo servizio fotografico alla più celebre ballerina russa del 900, Anna Pavlova soprannominata “The Immortal Swan” per la sua eccezionale bravura. Per la qualità, non solo formale delle immagini, ho scelto un ritratto ambientato nel Castello di Vigoleno, realizzato durante le sue ultime vacanze in Italia con il pittore russo Alexander Jacovleff. volessimo parlare della storia di Sanremo e della Riviera, tra le prime cinque persone da incontrare, la figura di Alfredo Moreschi è fondamentale. Moreschi è IL fotografo di Sanremo che ha saputo immortalare, nelle sue immagini, la storia di Sanremo. Oggi Alfredo, alla splendida età di 88 anni, mostra ancora una mano perfettamente ferma, una lucidissima e salda memoria, oltre a un'invidiabile capacità di collegare fra loro i tanti eventi di chi ha davvero vissuto Sanremo e la Riviera da protagonista assoluta e ama tutt'oggi studiare e proporre quel glorioso passato. La collaborazione con Alfredo è iniziata nel 2015 con un nostro servizio fotografico dedicato ai

145 anni di moda a Sanremo, nel quale abbiamo usato come sfondo le foto dello Studio Moreschi. Da quel momento è iniziata una vicinanza e condivisione di idee e passione per la storia del territorio che ha portato a realizzare il progetto che vi presentiamo oggi, qualcosa di veramente unico, iconico, irripetibile. Abbiamo chiesto all'amico Alfredo di selezionare le12 immagini che meglio potessero rappresentare la storia vista dal suo osservatorio privilegiato, la registrazione dei fatti che ha vissuto in prima persona con una breve didascalia di spiegazione. Su questa selezione non abbiamo posto alcun vincolo se non quello di scegliere "le tue 12 foto che porteresti sulla Luna". Consegneremo a ogni Biblioteca della Riviera dei Fiori 3 copie di questa edizione di Sanremo.

Correva l’anno 1957 e questo ritratto, rubato a Sophia Loren, documenta un’altro momento del Rallye del cinema, manifestazione che richiamava a Sanremo divi di assoluta statura mondiale.

“The 12 pictures to take to the Moon” by Alfredo Moreschi If we wanted to talk about the history of Sanremo and Riviera, among the first five people to meet, the figure of Alfredo Moreschi is crucial. Moreschi is THE photographer of Sanremo who has been able to capture the history of Sanremo in his pictures. At the age of 88, today Alfredo still shows a perfectly firm hand, a lucid and solid memory as well as an enviable ability to link together the many events of who really lived Sanremo and Riviera as absolute protagonist and still loves studying and showing that glorious past. The collaboration with Alfredo began in 2015 with our photo shoot dedicated to the 145 years of fashion in Sanremo, in which we used the Studio Moreschi pictures as background. Since then, a proximity, sharing of ideas and passion for the history of the territory began, which led to the project that we show today, something really unique, iconic and unrepeatable. We asked our friend Alfredo to select the 12 images that could best represent the history seen from his privileged observatory, the recording

of facts that he experiences first hand with a brief explanatory caption. We did not place any limitation on this selection other than to choose “your 12 pictures that you would take with you to the Moon”. We will deliver 3 copies of this Sanremo.it edition to each Library of Riviera so that they can be freely consulted in order to archive this memory for years to come. Il Lungomare Mina poteva essere la prima di una serie di vie dedicate alla canzone, ma cosi non è stato! La targa, con il nome famoso, non ha sostituito la vecchia scontata e banale intitolazione. prendendo sempre più forma il nuovo Auditorium Franco Alfano, situato lungo corso Imperatrice a Sanremo, a poche decine di metri dal prestigioso Royal Hotel, inserito nel lussureggiante Parco Marsaglia. Dopo quasi vent'anni dal blocco dei lavori, legati a un contenzioso con la vecchia impresa costruttrice, una delle perle di Sanremo rivedrà presto la luce per esprimere appieno la sua vocazione di magico scrigno in grado di ospitare eventi, rassegne e concerti all'aperto. L'investimento complessivo supera i due milioni di euro. Il primo lotto, che comprende esterni, gradinate e palco sarà consegnato entro l'inizio di agosto, a seguire verranno realizzati gli impianti, i camerini e i servizi. L’inaugurazione dell'intera struttura è prevista

per il 2020. Complessivamente i posti a sedere dell’Auditorium saranno circa 700. Prevista, come ultimo step dei lavori, la riqualificazione del giardino che circonda la struttura. Parco Marsaglia un tempo ospitava la residenza privata della famiglia omonima. L’edificio, fatto erigere nella seconda metà dell'800 da un ricco uomo d'affari di origini torinesi, Giovanni Marsaglia, il cui fratello Ernesto fu anche deputato e senatore del Regno d'Italia, era sorprendente. Dotato di torri, merlature, neogotici e neorinascimentali e arredato con opere di prestigiosi artisti contemporanei, il “Castello Marsaglia” fu demolito nel dopoguerra e il giardino passo al Comune di Sanremo. Il parco è ricco di rari esemplari che richiamano il fascino della foresta tropicale. La pianta più caratteristica è sempre la palma, come quelle che la zarina Maria Alexandrovna donò in gran numero alla

città per abbellire la passeggiata sottostante a lei dedicata. In particolare, sono presenti in gran numero le Syagrus romanzoffiana, tipiche del Brasile, oltre alla Howea forsteriana, la mastodontica Jubea chilensis, gigante del Cile ed altre qualità di piante come l'esemplare di Encephalartos altensteinii che si trova all'ingresso del giardino. Franco Alfano, a cui è intitolato l'auditorium, fu un grande musicista e compositore di origini napoletane. Morto a Sanremo nel 1954, a lui si deve il completamento della Turandot, rimasta incompiuta alla morte di Puccini. Gran Maestro della Massoneria del Grande Oriente d'Italia, Franco Alfano fu membro di una loggia di Napoli e della Loggia "Giuseppe Mazzini" di Sanremo.

La plante la plus caractéristique est toujours le palmier, comme celui que la tzarine Maria Alexandrovna avait offert en grand nombre à la ville pour embellir la promenade en dessous qui lui est dédiée. l’estate 2019, ritorna Folies Royal, la p ro g ra m m a zio n e artistica esclusiva del Royal Hotel Sanremo, straordinaria eccellenza 5 stelle lusso della Riviera dei Fiori: un calendario incalzante di oltre cento eventi andrà a svilupparsi da venerdì 21 giugno a domenica 1° settembre in uno scenario incantevole. Lo spazio è quello del Ristorante Corallina, punta di diamante dell’albergo, con la sua piscina di acqua di mare firmata dall’Arch. Giò Ponti e lo sfondo di un tramonto, circondati da un parco lussureggiante. Chiunque voglia regalarsi un aperitivo informale come un’elegante cena, troverà nella proposta Folies Royal un momento di intrattenimento di classe e una serata indimenticabile.

Aforisma ancora più azzeccato se al centro della discussione troviamo il jazz e il blues, le cui lingue, energie e suggestioni vengono celebrate ogni anno dal Festival Unojazz&Blues, arrivato a festeggiare nel 2019 la sua decima edizione. Appuntamento immancabile nell’estate sanremese, si riconferma un catalizzatore di grandi nomi, iniziative, mostre e concerti adatti agli appassionati ma anche a chi vuole assaggiare per la prima volta il suo sapore unico. tappe che portano l’eccellenza internazionale del jazz in alcuni dei luoghi più iconici della Città dei Fiori per una kermesse all’insegna di musica e solidarietà: il ricavato dei grandi concerti al Teatro dell’Opera del Casinò, ad aprile, con Raphael Gualazzi, Stefano Bollani ed Enrico Rava, è stato infatti interamente devoluto alla fondazione FHM Italia Onlus dello psicologo sanremese Roberto Ravera, da anni impegnata in importanti progetti in Sierra Leone, soprattutto per la riabilitazione di ex bambini-soldato segnati dalla guerra civile. «Per un’edizione così importante non si poteva che cercare il matrimonio tra l’eccellenza e l’indiscussa popolarità di alcuni dei musicisti che abbiamo coinvolto quest'anno - commenta il direttore artistico Alberto Zeppieri - pensando

di proporre nomi "colti" ma allo stesso tempo "famosi" nell'ambito del jazz e del blues». E quindi via alla grande Festa della Musica il 22 giugno, in compagnia di un insolito Teo Teocoli e di un’inedita Patty Pravo, ospiti al Teatro Ariston. Sarà invece Villa Ormond il suggestivo scenario che farà da sfondo all’esibizione di Fabrizio Bosso e Mauro Ottolini (3 luglio) e a Norwita (5 luglio), progetto discografico che celebra l’incontro tra l’Italia e la Norvegia. Gran finale della manifestazione l'evento del 13 e 14 settembre al Teatro Ariston, dove si esibiranno artisti di fama mondiale a ribadire, se ancora ce ne fosse bisogno, che Sanremo e la musica sono davvero una cosa sola.

Unojazz&Blues celebrates its tenth anniversary with a great party in Sanremo “Talking about music is like dancing about architecture”, said the great Frank Zappa. An aphorism that is even more suited if jazz and blues is at the centre of the discussion with languages, energies and suggestions that are celebrated every year by the Unojazz&Blues Festival that is now at its tenth edition in 2019. An unmissable event of the Sanremo summer, a catalyst of great names, initiatives, exhibitions and concerts suitable for enthusiasts but also for those who want to taste its unique flavour for the first time. Starting in April, with the first events, the Festival ends in September, with many stages welcoming the most famous international jazz names in some of the most iconic places in the City of Flowers for a festival dedicated to music and solidarity: the proceeds of the great concerts at the Teatro dell'Opera del Casinò, in April, with Raphael Gualazzi, Stefano Bollani and Enrico Rava, was in fact entirely donated to the FHM Italia Onlus, a foundation of the Sanremo psychologist Roberto Ravera, involved in important projects in Sierra Leone for years and especially dedicated to the rehabilitation of former child soldiers marked by the civil war.

«For such an important edition, the only choice was to join the excellence and the undisputed popularity of some of the musicians we have involved this year - said the artistic director Alberto Zeppieri – proposing “cultured” names but “famous” in jazz and blues at the same time». And then off to the great Music Festival on June 22nd with an out of the ordinary Teo Teocoli and Patty Pravo, guests at the Ariston Theatre.

Instead, Villa Ormond will be the evocative setting for the performance by Fabrizio Bosso and Mauro Ottolini (3rd July) and Norwita (5th July), a musical project that celebrates the encounter between Italy and Norway. The event at the Ariston Theatre on 13th and 14th September with the performance of world-renowned artists to reinstate, if needed, that Sanremo and music are truly just one thing.

mostra Landscapes, è un tributo alla pittura di paesaggio e alla sua evoluzione nel corso del ‘900, quando progressivamente i riferimenti naturalistici si perdono fino a dissolversi completamente nei paesaggi interiori degli artisti contemporanei. Testimoni di questa evoluzione, saranno le opere di artisti come Louis Hayet, Pablo Picasso, Hermine David, Afro, Lynn Chadwick, André Masson…

Fra i contemporanei, lavori di Sean Scully, Ian Davenport, Samuel De Gunzburg e Nicolas Lefeuvre, artista francese, ex direttore creativo di Chanel a Tokyo che collabora per la prima volta con la Galleria Cazeau e portando in mostra una selezione di 11 opere. Il richiamo alla tematica del paesaggio, tanto cara ai maestri della pittura en plein air di fine 800, nasce dalle mostre che la Riviera dei Fiori sta dedicando a Claude Monet, rispettivamente al Castello dei Doria di Dolceacqua e a Villa Regina Margherita a Bordighera.

In occasione dell’inaugurazione di Landscapes, Cazeau celebrerà i dieci anni della sua galleria parigina, inaugurata nel 2009 nel quartiere Marais, in rue Sainte Anastase, a pochi passi dal Museo Picasso. Da oltre 25 anni presente nel mercato del collezionismo, il suo fondatore Jean-François Cazeau e il socio Raphael Salvadori Tecucianu, hanno deciso di puntare sull’Italia ed in particolare sulla Liguria.

The Landscapes exhibition is a tribute to landscape painting and its evolution throughout the 1900s, when the naturalistic references are lost until being totally dissolved into the interior landscapes of contemporary artists. Evidence of this evolution are the works of artists such as Louis Hayet, Pablo Picasso, Hermine David, Afro, Lynn Chadwick, André Masson… Among the contemporaries, the works of Sean Scully, Ian Davenport, Samuel De Gunzburg and Nicolas Lefeuvre, a French artist and former Chanel creative director in Tokyo, who collaborates with the Cazeau Gallery for the first time showing a selection of 11 works of art.

The reference to the landscape theme, which was so dear to the masters of the en plein air painting of the end of the 19th century, stems from the exhibitions that Riviera dei Fiori dedicates to Claude Monet at the Doria Castle in Dolceacqua and Villa Regina Margherita in Bordighera. On the occasion of the Landscapes opening, Cazeu will celebrate the ten years of its Parisian gallery that was inaugurated in 2009 in the Marais district, in rue Sainte Anastase, a few steps from the Picasso Museum. Active in the collectors’ market for over 25 years, its founder Jean-François Cazeau and his partner Raphael Salvadori Tecucianu decided to focus on Italy and especially Liguria.

Tra

le numerose ragioni che spingono a visitare il Principato di Monaco, non si può prescindere dal ricordare il suo Nuovo Museo Nazionale (NMNM), un prezioso contenitore di storia e arte contemporanea, luogo di incontro di artisti e ricercatori. Tra le mura delle suggestive ville Sauber e Paloma prende vita un dialogo fervido e creativo tra le diverse discipline culturali qui promosse: scrittori, scenografi, designer, pittori, tutti trovano casa in questo grande lavoro collettivo che è linfa e anima dello stesso museo. Ogni anno, sono due le mostre che vengono proposte nelle due sedi, gioielli dell'Art Nouveau, che

perfettamente si incastonano nello skyline monegasco dai grattacieli vertiginosi. Villa Sauber è una delle ultime eredità della Belle Époque di Monaco. Non si conosce con precisione la data di costruzione, ma è noto che appartenesse alla famiglia Blanc, che svolse un ruolo fondamentale nello sviluppo della Société des Bains de Mer e del Casinò di Monte-Carlo. Villa Paloma, invece, appartenne fra gli altri all’inglese Robert W. Hudson, conosciuto a Monaco per la sua grande generosità: nel 1937 creò a suo nome una fondazione per diffondere l’insegnamento dell’inglese. Profondamente danneggiata durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, fu venduta nel 1995 al Principato

insieme al suo meraviglioso giardino, curato da Octave Godard, tra i più famosi paesaggisti di fine Ottocento. Fino al 3 novembre 2019, la Villa ospiterà l’esibizione Ombre d'azur, transparence di Ettore Spalletti, scultore e pittore italiano, curata da Cristiano Raimondi. A Villa Sauber trova invece spazio fino a fine settembre la mostra Step by Step, omaggio a una collezione monegasca e al suo proprietario Fabrizio Moretti, presentata per la prima volta al pubblico attraverso trentanove opere scelte dall’antico e dal contemporaneo. Within the walls of the evocative Sauber and Paloma villas, a fervent and creative dialogue comes to life between the various cultural disciplines fostered here. Writers, set designers, designers, painters – they all find a home in this great collective work that is lifeblood of the museum itself. Every year, two exhibitions are held in the two locations, Art Nouveau jewels that fits perfectly into the Monegasque skyline with vertiginous skyscrapers. Villa Sauber is one of the last legacies of the Belle Époque in Monaco. Its date of construction is uncertain, but it is known that it belonged to the Blanc family, which played a crucial role in developing the Société des Bains de Mer and the Casino of Monte-Carlo. On the other hand, Villa Paloma belonged among others to the

Englishman Robert W. Hudson, who was known in Monaco for his great generosity – in 1937, he created a foundation bearing his name to spread the teaching of English. Severely damaged during the Second World War, in 1995 it was sold to the Principality along with its wonderful garden curated by Octave Godard, who was one of the most famous landscape gardener of the late nineteenth century. Until November 3, 2019, the Villa will host the exhibition Ombre d'azur, transparence by the Italian sculptor and painter Ettore Spalletti and curated by Cristiano Raimondi. Villa Sauber will instead house the exhibition Step by Step at the end of September, which pays tribute to a Monegasque collection and its owner Fabrizio Moretti and it will be presented to the public for the first time through thirty-nine selected works from the ancient to contemporary times. Parmi les nombreuses raisons qui motivent à visiter la Principauté de Monaco, on ne peut s'abstenir de rappeler son Nouveau Musée National Monaco (NMNM), un précieux récipient d'histoire et d'art contemporaine, un lieu de rencontre pour artistes et chercheurs. Villa Paloma, par contre, a été entre autres de l'anglais Robert W. Hudson, connu à Monaco pour sa grande générosité : en 1937 il a créé à son nom une fondation pour répandre l'enseignement de l'anglais. Très endommagée dans la Seconde Guerre Mondiale, elle a été vendue en 1995 à la Principauté avec son merveilleux jardin, soigné par Octave Godard, un des plus célèbres paysagistes de la fin de 1800. pensato, non so dire da quando, che la Liguria tutta vada vista da una finestra. Le finestre sono tante, piccole, più grandi, a volte minuscole. Ma ciò che si vede da ognuna di quelle finestre è qualcosa di unico e imprendibilmente uguale. Perché la Liguria è imprendibile nella sua totalità con lo sguardo». Con queste parole il grande scrittore e poeta Nico Orengo descrive le sue "Terre blu", quelle della Riviera di Ponente, che si tingono del colore del ricordo e della nostalgia, del mare e dei paesi incantati abbarbicati sulla collina. Da Latte fino al confine francese, si mescolano luoghi reali e leggendari, con la sensazione che in questo ultimo suo tratto la Liguria

conservi palpitante e vivida la sua identità. A custodirla gelosamente i Giardini Hanbury, che proteggono al loro interno migliaia di esemplari vegetali oltre alle storie e agli aneddoti dei tanti personaggi celebri che li hanno visitati o abitati. Ed è proprio qui che si estende l'area marina, finalmente riconosciuta come protetta, di Capo Mortola: con la sua elevata biodiversità, l'habitat dallo straordinario valore naturalistico ed estetico, è considerata oggi zona meritevole di studio e tutela. Proseguendo ancora verso il confine, si arriva

ai Balzi Rossi e alla loro celebre "Spiaggia delle Uova", luogo di incontro di artisti e vip, così chiamata per la forma dei ciottoli bianchi che la ricoprono. Giunti fin qui non si può tornare indietro senza aver visitato il Museo Preistorico, recentemente ristrutturato: un vero e proprio viaggio nella storia dell'umanità che con le sue Grotte costituisce uno dei siti archeologici più importanti d'Europa. La Liguria, è proprio vero, va vista da dietro una finestra, come ci consiglia la suggestiva metafora coniata da uno dei suoi celebri figli. E punti di osservazione privilegiata, da cui affacciarsi, qui nell'estremo Ponente di certo non mancano.

The extreme Western End of Liguria, a place of enchantment and history “I thought, I don’t know since when, that Liguria should be seen from a window. The windows are many, small, bigger and sometimes tiny. But what you see from every one of those windows is something unique and elusively, the same. Because Liguria in its totality is elusive to the gaze.” With these words, the great writer and poet Nico Orengo describes his “Terre blu” (Blue Lands), those of the Riviera di Ponente, tainted with the colour of memories and nostalgia, of the sea and of the enchanting towns perched on the hill. From Latte to the French

border, real and legendary places blend together with the sensation that in its last stretch, Liguria conserves a vibrant and vivid identity. In jealously guarding it, the Hanbury Gardens protect thousands of plant specimens as well as stories and anecdotes of many celebrities who visited them or lived there. After all, Latte has always been a holiday resort since ancient times, as shown by the “Iulia Augusta” road which runs from Ventimiglia Alta to the plains: even today, it is possible to admire the ancient way walking along the line of

eucalyptus trees that shade the ancient Roman Road. And here is exactly where the marine area of Capo Mortola lies, finally recognised as a protected area: with its elevated biodiversity, this habitat of extraordinary naturalistic and aesthetic value is today considered an area worthy of study and protection. Continuing on toward the border, one arrives at Balzi Rossi and their famous “Spiaggia delle Uova” (Beach of Eggs), a meeting place for artists and VIPs, so-called for the form of white pebbles that cover it. Coming this far, one cannot

go back without having visited the recently restored Prehistoric Museum: a real journey into the history of humanity with its Caves which constitute one of the most important archaeological sites in Europe. It’s really true, Liguria should be seen from behind a window, as the suggestive metaphor coined by one of its famous sons, advises us to do. And here in the extreme western end, there is certainly no shortage of privileged observation points from which to look out.

Les fenêtres sont beaucoup, petites, plus grandes, parfois minuscules. Mais ce que l'on voit de chaque fenêtre est quelque chose d'unique et imprenablement pareil. Par-ce que la Ligurie est imprenable dans sa totalité avec le regard ». Avec ces paroles le grand écrivain Nico Orengo décrit ses ''Terre bleu'', celles de la Riviera du Ponant, qui se teignent de la couleur du souvenir et de la nostalgie, de la mer et des pays enchantés accrochés à la colline. Depuis Latte jusqu'à

la frontière française s'entremêlent des endroits réels et légendaires, avec la sensation que dans cette dernière partie la Ligurie conserve palpitante et vive son identité. À la garder soigneusement sont les Jardins Hanbury, qui en leur sein protègent des milliers d’espèces végétales outre aux histoires et aux anecdotes des nombreux personnages célèbres qui les ont visités ou y ont vécu. Par ailleurs Latte était un lieu de villégiature depuis l'antiquité, comme le témoigne la voie Julia Augusta qui de Ventimiglia Alta menait à la plaine : aujourd'hui encore, il est pos-

sible d'en apprécier l'ancien parcours en marchant le long des eucalyptus qui ombragent l'ancienne Voie Romaine. Et c'est précisément ici qui s'étend l'aire marine, enfin reconnue comme protégée, de Capo Mortola : avec son élevée biodiversité, l'habitat à l'extraordinaire valeur naturaliste et esthétique, est une zone considérée aujourd'hui digne d'étude de protection. En continuant encore vers la frontière, on arrive aux Balzin Rossi et à leur célèbre ''Spiaggia delle Uova'', lieu de rencontre d'artistes et vip, appelée ainsi à cause des galets blancs qui la recouvrent.

Une fois arrivé ici on ne peut pas repartir sans avoir visité le Musée Préhistorique, récemment rénové : un véritable voyage dans l'histoire de l'humanité qui avec ses Grottes représente un parmi les sites archéologiques les plus importants de l'Europe. La Ligurie, c'est tellement vrai, est à regarder par une fenêtre, comme nous le conseille la métaphore suggestive créée par l'un de ses célèbres fils. Et des points d'observation privilégiés, d’où se pencher, ici à l’extrême Ponant ne manquent certainement pas.

Dai

quattro angoli del pianeta provengono le piante che popolano i Giardini Hanbury, custodi di un tesoro unico al mondo. Fu Thomas Hanbury, mercante di tè con la passione per la botanica, insieme al fratello Daniel, celebre farmacologo, a ristrutturare dal 1867 l'incantevole podere della famiglia Orengo situato alla Mortola. Fortemente danneggiati durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, vennero acquistati dallo Stato italiano nel 1960. «Non è un semplice giardino - spiega il professor Mauro Mariotti, direttore degli Hanbury - questo luogo è volto alla ricerca e alla conservazione della biodiversità. A renderlo unico, lo straordinario numero di specie custodite, che arriva fino ai quattromila esemplari. La superficie si estende per 18 ettari, 9 dei quali sono coltivati a giardino, mentre

nella restante metà la vegetazione cresce in modo sub spontaneo». La loro peculiarità, non sempre compresa dai turisti, è il rispetto del ciclo vitale delle piante: «In estate, come avviene normalmente in natura, parte dei giardini si presenta infatti secca. Il momento migliore per visitarli è chiaramente da gennaio a maggio». Tra le diverse tipologie presenti, si segnalano quella delle succulente, come le agavi, gli agrumi, tra cui un particolare tipo di pompelmo, le meravigliose rose. L'area protetta regionale si estende fino alla parte marina, caratterizzata da un habitat di particolare valore biologico ed estetico. A essere conservate all'interno dei Giardini, però, troviamo anche storie e aneddoti di personaggi illustri: «Tutti i reali d'Europa sono passati da qui. La Regina Vittoria, appassionata di acquarello, dipinse il panorama

dalla Sala Rosa, il salotto al pian terreno della villa. Il primo ambasciatore cinese in Europa incise su un arco un ideogramma che tradotto significa felicità. E proprio qui, recentemente, è stato girato un film su Grace Kelly, con Nicole Kidman». Sul sito www.giardinihanbury.com sono segnalate le tante iniziative che trovano casa in questa cornice suggestiva: dal teatro alla letteratura, dalla musica alla danza. Their peculiarity, not always understood by tourists, is the respect of the life cycle of plants: «In summer, as normally happens in nature, part of the gardens is rather dry. The best time to visit them is no doubt from January to May ». Among the different types of plants, we mention the succulents, like the agaves, citrus fruits, including a parti-

cular type of grapefruit, the wonderful roses. The protected regional area extends to the marine part, characterised by a habitat of particular biological and aesthetic value. However, there are also stories and anecdotes of famous people inside the Gardens: «All the European royalty have passed by this place. Queen Victoria, passionate about watercolour painting, depicted the view from the Sala Rosa, the living room on the ground floor of the villa. The first Chinese ambassador in Europe engraved an ideogram on an arch that translates to happiness. And right here, a film was made on Grace Kelly recently, starring Nicole Kidman ». There are many initiatives on the website www.giardinihanbury.com that take place in this evocative setting: from theatre to literature, from music to dance. For visitors with physical disabilities, it is possible to book a special car for the tour, while four-legged friends can enjoy a dog-friendly equipped area. The Hanbury Botanic Gardens are taking part in the Mediterranean Alps project for the UNESCO World Heritage Site nomination.

nuovo volto di Marina San Giuseppe e quindi della stessa Ventimiglia non è solo legato al progetto del porto di Cala del Forte, il cui completamento da parte della Porti di Monaco, che ha acquisito l'operazione due anni fa, procede a grandi passi. Nel frattempo, si sta profilando all'orizzonte un importante investimento di un gruppo privato guidato dall'imprenditore olandese Robertus “Rob” Thielen, da anni residente a Montecarlo, che interesserebbe la parte alta della città, già al centro negli ultimi anni di un profondo restyling. Abbarbicata sulla collina, Ventimiglia Alta si affaccia vertiginosamente sul mare in un tripudio di suggestivi carrugi, com'è tipico dei borghi liguri, e per questo turisticamente appetibile come pochi altri luoghi al mondo.

Il piano abbozzato, al momento a grandi linee, consiste in un investimento quantificato in oltre 100 milioni di euro in diversi step, che prevedono inizialmente la realizzazione di un certo numero di appartamenti alle spalle del porto degli Scoglietti, circa un terzo dell'investimento totale, e di un albergo di lusso da oltre 200 posti letto.

Last May, Confindustria Imperia organised a meeting with Thielen, one of the best-known international entrepreneurs, founder of Waterland Private Equity Investments with seat in the Netherlands, and co-founding partner of Elbrus Capital, a private equity group with seat in Russia. Almost by chance, the 58-year-old Dutch tycoon visited the border town and said he fell in love with it for its authenticity and the

peculiarity of still preserving a genuine identity in its old town. At present, the plan is just a rough sketch consisting in an investment quantified at over 100 million euros in different steps, which initially involve the construction of a certain number of apartments behind the Scoglietti port, about a third of the total investment and a luxury hotel with over 200 beds. «Italy is a very attractive country from the tourist point of view explained Thielen during the meeting promoted by Confindustria - and Ventimiglia has a lot to offer in this regard, even if it has suffered a little from the lack of investments in the last few years. Our project also provides for the redevelopment of an existing building to build a medical clinic as well as some parking lots, to not congest the old town further, and some restaurants and shops». In the coming months the guidelines of a plan will be outlined that, if implemented, would make Ventimiglia increasingly competitive with respect to the nearby Menton and more and more able to attract international tourists and business flows with its excellence and peculiarities.

Confindustria Imperia au mois de mai dernier a organisé une rencontre avec Thielen, un parmi les plus connus entrepreneurs du panorama international, fondateur du Waterland Private Equity Investments ayant son siège au Pays Bas, et membre cofondateur de Elbrus Capital, un groupe de private equity avec siège en Russie. Presque par hasard, le tycoon hollandais de 58 ans a visité la Ville de frontière et a raconté d'en être tombé amoureux pour son

authenticité et la particularité de conserver encore, dans son centre historique, une identité authentique. Le plan ébauché, rien qu'en gros pour l'instant, consiste en un investissement quantifié en plus de 100 millions d'euro, en plusieurs step qui prévoient au début la réalisation d'un certain nombre d'appartements aux épaules du port des Scoglietti, un tiers environ de l'investissement total, et d'un hôtel de luxe avec plus de 200 places. «L'Italie est un pays très attrayant du point de vue touristique – at-il expliqué Thielen aux marges de la rencontre promue par Confindustria – et dans ce sens Vintimille a beaucoup à offrir, même

si dans les dernières année a souffert le manque d'investissements. Notre projet prévoit la requalification d'un édifice déjà existant pour réaliser une clinique médicale outre à un certain nombre de parking, de manière à ne pas encombrer ultérieurement le centre historique, et de quelques restaurants et boutiques. Dans les mois prochains se traceront les lignes directrices d'un dessin qui si mis en œuvre verrait Vintimille de plus en plus compétitive par rapport à la voisine Menton et toujours plus capable d’attirer avec ses excellences et particularités des flux touristiques et économiques internationaux.

Liguria, terra sospesa tra cielo e mare, non la troviamo solo nelle sue spiagge incantevoli e nelle sue coste inconfondibili, ma anche nelle sue montagne dal panorama mozzafiato, trionfo di colori e profumi. mondo, la grande diversità geologica, testimone dell’evoluzione del pianeta: circa 400 milioni di anni di storia della Terra vengono condensati e raccontati proprio da queste Alpi. In provincia di Imperia, il Parco delle Alpi Liguri è un’area protetta incuneata fra il confine francese e il Basso Piemonte, costituita da oltre seimila ettari di territorio distribuito su tre valli e sette comuni: Cosio D’Arroscia, Mendatica, Montegrosso Pian Latte, Pigna, Rezzo, Rocchetta Nervina e Triora. Gli antichi percorsi oggi ripristinati consentono al visitatore di godere della biodiversità che li caratterizza: foreste, paesaggi alpini, cime che possono raggiungere fino a 2000 metri di dislivello, senza mai perdere di vista all'orizzonte il mare.

The treasure of the Ligurian Alps, the candidates for the UNESCO Heritage List Liguria, a land suspended between sky and sea, not just with its enchanting beaches and unmistakable coasts, but even in its mountains with a breath-taking panorama, a triumph of colours and scents. Places of history with the ancient weaving of its paths and the dense network of mule tracks that enclose the secrets of rural civilization: therefore, it is not surprising that the territory of the Mediterranean Alps is a candidate for the UNESCO World Heritage List (to support the cause there is a dedicated website, www.alpmediterranee.eu). What makes it unique in the world is the great geological diversity, a witness to the evolution of the planet: about 400 million years of the Earth's history are condensed and narrated by these Alps. In the province of Imperia, the Ligurian Alps Park is a protected area wedged between the French border and the Lower Piedmont area, consisting of over six thousand hectares of territory spread over three valleys

and seven municipalities: Cosio D'Arroscia, Mendatica, Montegrosso Pian Latte, Pigna, Rezzo, Rocchetta Nervina and Triora. L’

imprenditore svizzero Michel Louis Ormond, nel 1875, acquistò Villa Rambaldi inserita in una tenuta molto estesa nella zona est di Sanremo. Ormond era proprietario di una fabbrica di sigari a Vevey, capoluogo del distretto RivieraPays-d'Enhaut, nel Canton Vaud, e grande estimatore di storia e arte. L’acquisto della villa fu dettato dalle fragili condizioni di salute della moglie, la poetessa Marie Marguerite Renet, affinché beneficiasse del clima mite della Riviera. La dimora degli Ormond, nel febbraio del 1887, subì ingenti danni in seguito al terremoto che sconvolse il Ponente ligure, distruggendo tra l'altro il centro storico di Bussana. Decisero così di costruire su quelle ceneri quella che dopo due anni di lavori divenne l’attuale Villa Ormond. La caratteristica del bellissimo parco che la circonda è la sua ricchissima vegetazione esotica, dominata da un’antica fontana di pietra con putti. L’intero spazio verde venne

creato ricalcando modelli del gusto ambientale francese del secondo Ottocento, le piante esotiche furono disposte accanto a ulivi e agrumi, sostituendo i tipici terrazzamenti liguri. Queste modifiche caratterizzarono il parco con un andamento a “stanze”, con ambienti vegetativi diversificati: il prestigioso palmeto, l’area dei cedri, l’antico oliveto, la serie di Ficus e il bellissimo giardino all’italiana. Con la morte prima di Michel Louis Ormond, nel 1901, poi della moglie Marie Marguerite, nel 1925, la proprietà degli Ormond fu messa in vendita e fu il Comune di Sanremo ad acquistare l'intera tenuta nel 1930. Passeggiando nel Parco di Villa Ormond non si può fare a meno di ammirare anche il Giardino giapponese, risultato del gemellaggio tra le città di Sanremo e Atami. La filosofia Zen crea un angolo ad essa ispirata molto affascinante, la tipica atmosfera dove massi e pietre disposti in modo geniale su un tappeto erboso, ne

risaltano tutta la sua bellezza. La caratteristica flora giapponese è gentilmente inserita nel contesto, dando nell’insieme la particolare armonia orientale. Lo spazio posteriore della villa, invece, è stato utilizzato come “giardino d’inverno”, adibito a manifestazioni e importanti cerimonie. Il Parco infatti è un luogo ideale dove organizzare molti eventi come matrimoni, battesimi, feste private, serate di gala e grandi appuntamenti musicali e danzanti. La location si presta anche per ospitare mostre d’arte o esposizioni floreali internazionali, oltre alla sua tradizionale vocazione congressistica. Villa Ormond accoglie ormai da decenni anche la sede della Fondazione Ausiliaria dell’Istituto Internazionale di Diritto Umanitario, fondata nel 1970, organizzazione indipendente senza fini di lucro. L’Istituto sostiene lo sviluppo del diritto umanitario internazionale con un’attenzione ai diritti umani, alla legge sui rifugiati, alla legge sulla migrazione e alle questioni collegate.

Villa Ormond and its prestigious park In 1875, the Swiss entrepreneur Michel Louis Ormond bought Villa Rambaldi located in a very large estate in the eastern area of Sanremo. Ormond was the owner of a cigar factory in Vevey, the county seat of the Riviera-Paysd'Enhaut district in the Canton of Vaud, as well as a great admirer of history and art. The purchase of the villa was due to the fragile health conditions of his wife, the poet Marie Marguerite Renet, so that she could benefit from the mild weather of Riviera. In February 1887, the Ormond residence was severely damaged from the earthquake that devastated the western Liguria and destroyed also the historic centre of Bussana. This is why they decided to build on those ashes what became the current Villa Ormond after two years of construction. The wonderful park surrounding it features a rich exotic vegetation dominated by an ancient stone fountain with cherubs. The whole green space was created by following the French environmental taste of the second half of the nineteenth century, the exotic plants were arranged next to olive and citrus trees thus replacing the typical Ligurian terracing. These changes gave the park a typical layout featured by different sections, with diversified vegetative environments – the prestigious palm grove, the cedar area, the ancient olive grove, the Ficus series and the wonderful Italian garden. After the death of Michel Louis Ormond in 1901 and that of his wife Marie Marguerite in 1925, the

Ormond property was offered for sale and entirely bought in 1930 by the Municipality of Sanremo. Walking through the Park of Villa Ormond, it is impossible not to feel admiration also for the Japanese Garden, which is the result of the twinning between the cities of Sanremo and Atami. The Zen philosophy is reflected in a very fascinating corner with its typical atmosphere featuring boulders and stones arranged brilliantly on a turf, with all its beauty that stands out. The typical Japanese flora merges with the context, which results in the peculiar oriental harmony. The rear space of the villa was instead used as a “winter garden” and used for events and important ceremonies. In fact, the Park is an ideal venue to organize many events such as weddings, baptisms, private parties, gala evenings and great musical and dancing events. The location is also suitable for housing art exhibitions or international floral expositions, in addition to its traditional vocation as a congress centre. Villa Ormond has been also hosting for decades the headquarters of the Supporting Foundation of the International Institute of Humanitarian Law, which was founded in 1970 as an independent non-profit organization. The Institute supports the development of international humanitarian law with a focus on human rights, the refugee law, the migration law and related issues.

Ces changements ont caractérisé le parc avec un développement en ''chambres'', avec des milieux végétatifs diversifiés: la prestigieuse palmeraie, l'aire des cèdres, l'ancienne oliveraie, la série de Ficus et le splendide jardin à l'italienne. Avec la mort de Michel Ormond d'abord, en 1901, et en suite de sa femme Marie Marguerite, en 1925, la propriété des Ormond a été mise en vente et c'est la Municipalité de Sanremo qui a acheté tout le domaine en 1930. En se promenant dans le Parc de Villa Ormond on ne peut se passer d'admirer aussi le Jardin Japonais, le résultat du jumelage entre la ville de Sanremo et Atami. La philosophie Zen crée l'inspiration pour un coin très charmant, une ambiance typique où des rochers et des pierres placés d'une façon géniale sur un tapis d'herbe en exaltent toute sa beauté. La caractéristique flore japonaise est gentiment inséré dans le contexte, en donnant dans l'ensemble la particulière harmonie orientale. L’espace arrière de la villa, a été par contre utilisé comme ''jardin d'hiver'', destiné à des manifestations et cérémonies importantes. Le Parc est notamment un endroit idéal où organiser beaucoup d'évènements comme mariages, baptêmes, fêtes privées, gala et grands rendez-vous en musique et dansants. L'endroit se prête aussi à accueillir des expositions d'art ou florales internationales, outre à sa traditionnelle vocation aux congres. Villa Ormond accueille aussi, désormais depuis des décennies, le siège de la ''Fondazione Ausiliaria dell'Istituto Internazionale di Diritto Umanitario'', fondée en 1970, une organisation indépendante sans but lucratif. L'institut soutien le développement du droit humanitaire internationale avec une attention aux droits humains, à la loi sur les réfugiés, à la loi sur la migration et au questions annexes.

Villa Ormond et son prestigieux parc

dall'Istituto Internazionale di Studi Liguri e diretto da Daniela Gandolfi, il Museo Civico di Diano Marina (MARM), è situato al secondo piano del Palazzo del Parco in corso Garibaldi 60. Nove sale espositive ospitano materiali e reperti scoperti nel territorio dianese e riconducibili a uno spazio temporale che va dalla preistoria alla tarda romanità. Una decima sala è destinata ad attività multimediali. Nel Museo, oltre alla collezione paleontologica, sono presenti molti altri reperti che risalgono al paleolitico, fossili, utensili e resti animali, frutto della ricerca archeologica in questi territori iniziata dalla metà del secolo scorso. In seguito ad alcuni ritrovamenti, pare che nella zona del golfo dianese esistesse già nell’età del bronzo un insediamento abitativo costiero piuttosto sviluppato, di cui sono esposte ceramiche, oggetti caratteristici e armi in bronzo. Molte sono le testimonianze archeologiche dell’età

del ferro e di quella romana, determinate anche dal legame con la rete stradale, la via Iulia Augusta, fatta costruire dall’imperatore per agevolare il collegamento verso la Francia. La quinta sala del Museo, dedicata al viaggio via terra e via mare, descrive in particolare come venivano trasportate le merci lungo i principali percorsi commerciali e gli scambi tra i mercanti nell’antichità. Gli scavi archeologici hanno portato alla luce materiali e strutture dell’insediamento romano anche nell’immediato entroterra, fin dall'antichità a vocazione agricola, con testimonianze di vasellame e oggetti in bronzo che documentano le attività degli antichi liguri. L’abitato costiero rimase fino alla tarda romanità, poi le condizioni di difesa del territorio diventarono precarie e si rese così necessario trasferire l’insediamento sulla collina antistante, più protetta. Risale al 2007 la creazione della Sezione Risorgimentale, che viene riallestita nel marzo del 2011 in occasione del 150° Anniversario dell’Unità d’Italia. La sala è intitolata al dianese Andrea

Rossi, il “Pilota dei Mille”, e vi si trovano esposti cimeli e oggetti appartenuti a lui e al generale Nicolò Ardoino, combattente risorgimentale. L’esposizione è composta da bandiere, divise dei garibaldini, medaglie, armi e documenti. Un certo rilievo è inoltre assegnato al relitto di Diano Marina la nave “a dolia” affondata attorno alla metà del I secolo d.C. nel Golfo Dianese. Nell’atrio del Palazzo del Parco è situata la Sezione Mineralogica, che espone la ricca collezione appartenuta all’ingegnere De Cavero, esperto di mineralogia, acquistata negli anni sessanta dal Comune di Diano Marina. La collezione può contare oltre 250 pezzi di minerali, tra cui esemplari di pirite, gesso, calcite, salgemma viola, ametiste, lapislazzuli, quarzi e tantissimi altri. Oltre che da Chiavari e Oneglia la provenienza di questi minerali vede elencate anche numerose regioni italiane, dal Piemonte alla Sicilia, alla Sardegna e da alcuni stati esteri, Svizzera, Brasile, Uruguay, Madagascar e Sud Africa.

A journey in the Civic Museum of Diano Marina - MARM Managed by the International Institute for Ligurian Studies and run by Daniela Gandolfi, the Civic Museum of Diano Marina (MARM) is located on the second floor of Palazzo del Parco in Corso Garibaldi 60. Nine exhibition halls house materials and artefacts discovered in the Diano area and referable to a timespan ranging from prehistory to late Roman time. A tenth hall is intended for multimedia activities. Besides the paleontological collection, there are many other artefacts in the Museum dating back to the Palaeolithic, fossils, tools and animal remains as result of the archaeological research in these areas started from the middle of the last century. Following some findings, it seems that a rather developed coastal housing settlement already

existed during the Bronze Age in the gulf of Diano, as attested by ceramics, typical objects and bronze weapons exhibited. There are many archaeological testimonies of the Iron and the Roman Age, which are also given by the link with the road network – the Via Iulia Augusta – built by the emperor to facilitate the connection with France. The fifth hall of the Museum, dedicated to travel by land and sea, describes how goods were transported along the main trade routes as well as the exchanges between merchants in ancient times. Archaeological excavations brought to light materials and structures of the Roman settlement also in the adjacent hinterland, which has always been rural since ancient times, with evidence

of pottery and bronze objects that document the activities of the ancient Ligurians. The coastal dwelling was preserved until late Roman times, then the precarious defence of the area made it necessary to transfer the settlement to the more protected opposite hill. The Risorgimento section was created in 2007 and reorganised in 2011 for the 150th Anniversary of the unification of Italy. The hall is named after Andrea Rossi, the “Pilot of the Thousand” from Diano, and displays relics and objects that belonged to him and the General Nicolò Ardoino, a Risorgimento serviceman. The exhibition consists of flags, Garibaldini’s uniforms, medals, weapons and documents. Important is also the wreck of

Diano Marina, the “dolia” ship sunk around the middle of the 1st century AD in the Gulf of Diano. In the atrium of Palazzo del Parco is the Mineralogical Section, which displays the rich collection that belonged to the engineer De Cavero, an expert on mineralogy, acquired in the ‘60s by the Municipality of Diano Marina. The collection can boast over 250 pieces of minerals, including pyrite, chalk, calcite, purple halite, amethysts, lapis lazuli, quartz and many others. In addition to Chiavari and Oneglia, the origin of these minerals also includes many Italian regions, from Piedmont to Sicily, Sardinia and some foreign countries such as Switzerland, Brazil, Uruguay, Madagascar and South Africa.

Géré par l'Institut International d’Études Ligures et dirigé par Daniela Gandolfi, le Musée Civique de Diano Marina (MARM), est situé au deuxième étage du Palazzo del Parco au 60 cours Garibaldi.

Le site habité côtier est resté jusqu'à la fin-romanité, après les conditions de défense du territoire sont devenues difficiles et il est ainsi devenu nécessaire déménager sur la colline d'en face, plus protégée.

Neuf salles d'exposition abritent du matériel et des objets découverts dans le territoire de Diano imputables à une période allant de la préhistoire à la romanité. Une dixième salle est destinée aux multimédias. Dans le Musée, outre à la collection paléontologique, se trouvent beaucoup d'autres pièces qui remontent au paléolithique, fossiles, ustensiles et restes d'animaux, sortis de la recherche archéologique dans ces territoires, commencée depuis la moitié du siècle dernier. Suite à des trouvailles, il paraît que dans la zone du golfe de Diano il existait déjà à l'âge du bronze un site habité côtier bien développé, duquel sont exposées des céramiques, des objets caractéristiques et des armes en bronze. Nombreux sont les témoignages archéologiques de l'âge du fer et de celle romaine, déterminées aussi par le lien avec le réseau routier, la via Julia Augusta, faite construire par l’empereur pour faciliter le raccordement vers la France. La cinquième salle du Musée, dédiée au voyage par voie terrestre et maritime, décrit dans le détail comme les marchandises étaient transportées le long des principaux parcours commerciaux et les échanges entre marchants dans l'antiquité. Les fouilles ont permis de découvrir des matériels et des structures du site romain même dans le proche arrière-pays, à vocation agricole depuis l'antiquité, avec des témoignages de poterie et objet en bronze qui documentent les activités des anciens ligures.

Elle remonte à 2007 la création de la Section du Risorgimento qui est réinstallée en mars 2011 à l'occasion du 150e anniversaire de l'unification de l'Italie. La salle est intitulée à Andrea Rossi, le ''Pilota dei Mille'', et on y trouve exposés des objets à lui et au général Nicolò Ardoino, combattants du Risorgimento. L'exposition est constituée de drapeaux, uniformes des garibaldiens, médailles, armes et documents. Une certaine importance est en outre destinée à l’épave de Diano Marina le navire ''a dolia'' naufragé vers la moitié du I siècle après JC dans le Golfe de Diano. Dans le hall du Palazzo del Parco se trouve la Section Minéralogique, qui expose la riche collection qui était de l'ingénieur De Cavero, expert en minéralogie, achetée dans les années soixante par la Municipalité de Diano Marina. La collection compte plus de 250 pièces de minéraux, parmi lesquels des exemplaires de pyrite, craie, calcite, sel gemme violet, améthyste, lapis-lazuli, quartz et beaucoup d'autres. Outre que Chiavari et Oneglia l'origine de ces minéraux voit de nombreuses régions italiennes, du Piémont à la Sicile, à la Sardaigne et de quelques états étrangers, Suisse, Brésil, Uruguay, Madagascar et Afrique du Sud.

Nessuna idea innovativa, anzi. Le tisane di foglie di ulivo venivano già sorseggiate nell'Antica Grecia, ai tempi dei Romani e persino dai faraoni egiziani. La leggenda narra, infatti, che fosse stata da dea Atena a piantare il primo albero di ulivo. La splendida pianta illuminava la notte, medicava le ferite e curava le malattie e inoltre offriva prezioso nutrimento, donando benessere e quindi pace a tutte le genti che lo avrebbero coltivato.

La tisana di foglie di ulivo è un vero e proprio “elisir di giovinezza” con le sue tante proprietà. L'acido oleanolico ha un'azione antinfiammatoria e immunomodulatoria, utile anche nel trattamento di patologie autoimmuni o della sclerosi multipla, mentre l'acido elenolico, con un'azione antiossidante, facilita la circolazione del sangue e si è dimostrato un potentissimo antibatterico e antivirale. Da ulteriori ricerche sono emerse proprietà cardiotoniche e antiaritmiche. Le foglie di ulivo contengono inoltre l'idrossitirosolo, un polifenolo dal potere antiossidante in grado di rallentare il processo di invecchiamento cellulare dell'organismo. The organically cultivated Cultivar Taggiasca olive trees grow on the sun-kissed hills of Seborga, just behind Bordighera, from which Flavio Gorni, from the Agriturismo Monaci Templari, collects the precious leaves that go into creating his herbal teas. This is not exactly a new idea though. Olive leaf herbal teas were enjoyed in ancient Greece, during Roman times and even by the Egyptian pharaohs.

Legend has it that it was actually the goddess Athena who planted the very first olive tree. The splendid plant illuminated the night, cured wounds, healed diseases and also offered precious nourishment, bestowing wellness and therefore peace on anyone who cultivated it. e Margaret Berry nel loro "At the Western Gate of Italy" pubblicato nel 1931 e divenuto un punto di riferimento europeo per tutti coloro che volevano visitare la Liguria di Ponente, citano il sito archeologico di Costa Balenae a Riva Ligure come uno dei più importanti della via Julia Augusta, l'attuale via Aurelia. Detta anche Area archeologica di Capo Don, situata a ridosso della foce di quello che i romani ribattezzarono Tabia fluvius (il torrente Argentina) era anticamente una stazione per il cambio dei cavalli e delle merci dirette o provenienti dall'allora Gallia. Il ritrovamento nei primi anni degli scavi di monete e medaglie fanno pensare che la stazione rimase attiva praticamente per tutta la durata dell'Impero Romano. Sull'altura alle sue spalle (detta “la Grangia”) vi era un monastero benedettino alle dipendenze di Genova, di cui si hanno tracce fino al XIV secolo, a dimostrazione della successiva opera

di cristianizzazione del sito. Più recentemente, grazie all'impegno del Pontificio Istituto di Archeologia Cristiana, le ultime operazione di scavo – iniziate nel 2001 e ancora in corso hanno portato alla luce una villa romana, le cui fondamenta hanno permesso di collocare tra il II secolo a.C. e il IV secolo d.C. la sua operatività sotto l’Impero Romano, con il toponimo appunto di Costa Balenae, dalla divinità ligure Belenus, legata al culto della fertilità e assimilata dai romani al dio Apollo. Proprio in seguito a quest'ultimo periodo (verso la metà del VI secolo d.C., tra l'età paleocristiana e altomedievale) fu eretta per volontà del vescovo di Albenga, la basilica detta appunto “di Capo Don”, con accanto un battistero di forma ottagonale, riemerso in ottimo stato di conservazione durante gli scavi archeologici di Nino Lamboglia, nel 1937. Il sito presenta inoltre un'area funeraria dalla quale sono emerse inumazioni di diverse tipologie in sarcofagi di pietra del Finale, a dimostrazione di un centro ben organizzato e utilizzato con continuità. archeologici hanno dimostrato come all'antica basilica siano state apportate modifiche fino al XII secolo. Il declino dell'insediamento, acuito dalla nascita di nuovi centri abitati nelle vicinanze, è probabilmente da imputare alla riorganizzazione delle istituzioni religiose nel Ponente ligure, al mutamento delle vie di traffico e trasporto e in particolare, secondo gli studiosi, alle violente incursioni dei Musulmani dal sud della Francia. Dall'agosto dello scorso anno è attivo a Riva Ligure, presso il palazzo comunale di via Nino Bixio, il Museo S.E.M., Spazio Espositivo Multimediale, concepito per fornire una prima informazione sul monumento archeologico più importante di Riva Ligure. La basilica tardoantica di Capo Don ha infatti un valore assoluto, trattandosi, come ha certificato la stessa sovrintendenza ai beni culturali della Liguria, “la chiesa rurale più imponente dell’Italia nord occidentale”.

Also called the Capo Don archaeological site, located at the mouth of the river the Romans called Tabia fluvius (River Argentina), in ancient times it was a station for the exchange of horses and goods arriving from or heading to what used to be called Gaul.

The site also has a burial ground from which a number of different types of Finale stone sarcophagi were excavated, proof that the place was well organised and used continuously. Archaeological investigations showed that the old basilica underwent a series of modifications up until the 12th century. The settlement's decline, which was hastened by the formation of new settlements nearby, was probably due to the reorganisation of the religious institutions in western Liguria, to changes to the transportation and traffic routes and, according to many researchers, to violent incursions by Muslims from southern France.

Coins and medals were found during the early years of excavation, suggesting that the station was used for almost the entire duration of the Roman Empire. Proof of the subsequent Christianisation of the area is provided by a Benedictine monastery, dependent on the church of Genoa, situated on the hill behind the site (called “la Grangia”), which is known to have been present up until the 14th century. More recently, thanks to the involvement of the Pontificio Istituto di Archeologia Cristiana, the excavation work - which started in 2001 and is still in progress - revealed the presence of a Roman villa. Its foundations made it possible to date its operational period under the Roman Empire between the 2nd century BC and the 4th century AD with the toponym Costa Balenae, from the Ligurian God Belenus, connected with the cult of fertility and who became identified with

Following this period (around the middle of the 6th century AD, between the paleochristian period and the Early Middle Ages) the Bishop of Albenga had a basilica built called “Capo Don”, with an octagonal baptistery alongside it, this was found very well preserved during archaeological digs carried out by Nino Lamboglia in 1937.

The S.E.M. multimedia exhibition (Spazio Espositivo Multimediale) has been running since last August in Riva Ligure, located in the town hall in Nino Bixio, its objective being to provide an overview of Riva Ligure's most important archaeological monument. The Capo Don basilica is an incredibly valuable monument since it is, as was certified by Liguria's Superintendence of Cultural Heritage, the most impressive rural church in North West Italy.

Plus récemment, grâce à l'engagement de l'Institut Pontifical d’Archéologie Chrétienne, les dernières fouilles – commencées en 2001 et encore en cours – ont mis à jour une villa romaine, dont les fondations ont permis de placer entre le II siècle a. JC et le IV siècle après JC son opérativité sous l'Empire Romain, avec justement le toponyme de Costa Balenae, de la divinité ligure Belenus, liée au culte de la fertilité et assimilée par les romains au dieu Apollon.

Précisément par la suite de cette dernière période (vers la moitié du VI siècle après JC, entre l’âge paléochrétienne et médiévale) a été érigé par volonté de l’évêque de Albenga, la basilique appelée justement ''de Cap Don'', avec à côté un baptistère de forme octogonale, réapparu dans un excellent état de conservation durant les fouilles de Nino Lamboglia, en 1937. Le site présente en outre une aire funéraire d'où sont réapparues des inhumations de plusieurs typologies dans des sarcophages en pierre du Finale, la preuve d'un centre bien organisé et utilisé avec continuité. Les vérifications archéologiques ont démontré comme l’ancienne basilique ait été modifiée jusqu'au XII siècle. Le déclin du site, accru par la naissance de nouveaux centres habités à

proximité, est probablement dû à la réorganisation des institutions religieuse dans le Ponant ligure, au changement des voies de circulation et de transport et en particulier, selon les chercheurs, aux violentes incursions des Musulmans depuis le sud de la France. Depuis août de l'année dernière, à Riva Ligure, au palais communal de rue Nino Bixio, est actif le Musée S.E.M, ''Spazio Espositivo Multimediale'', conçu pour fournir une première information sur le monument archéologique le plus important de Riva Ligure. La basilique de l'antiquité tardive de Cap Don a en effet une valeur absolue, en s'agissant, comme l'a certifié la surintendance aux biens culturels de la Ligurie, de ''l'église rurale la plus imposante de l'Italie nordoccidentale''.

2 al 6 luglio a Montecarlo si incontrano studenti e professionisti per partecipare al challenge internazionale dedicato alle imbarcazioni del futuro. La Solar & Energy Boat Challenge, prevede gare nautiche suddivise in tre categorie: Offshore, Solar ed Energy. Per la gara offshore è prevista una regata da Montecarlo a Ventimiglia e ritorno. Questa gara farà da test per le imbarcazioni a propulsione eco-friendly prossime alla commercializzazione.

Per il challenge “Energy” verranno messi a disposizione degli studenti di ingegneria che collaborano con le industrie scafi di catamarani “basic” creati appositamente per l'occasione. La gara consisterà nella realizzazione di cabine per l'imbarcazione e nella creazione di un sistema di propulsione potente e il più duraturo possibile, unicamente con energia ecosostenibile come batterie, idrogeno o biocarburanti. Scopo di questa gara è creare e poi comparare diverse soluzioni eco-friendly per le imbarcazioni a motore del futuro. Infine, la classe “Solar” regina dell'evento fin dalla prima edizione nel 2014. Le imbarcazioni a energia solare si sfideranno nella baia di Montecarlo per tre giorni di gara a cronometro e slalom.

La Solar & Energy Boat Challenge è anche un'esibizione che include cicli di conferenze dedicate alle soluzioni per il futuro dello yachting. Lo Yacht Club Montecarlo Marina organizza un'esposizione su acqua e a terra delle ultime innovazioni e soluzioni in materia di barche e settore marittimo. Le conferenze, aperte al pubblico, avranno due principali obiettivi. Lo yachting del futuro con temi come l'idrogenazione nel settore marittimo, energia e sostenibilità nei design e nella costruzione. L'ambiente al centro di ogni evento nautico e la conversione a zero emissioni e autonomia energetica degli Yacht Club.

For the offshore race, there will be a regatta from Montecarlo to Ventimiglia and return. This race will be a test for boats with ecofriendly propulsion systems which are about to be put on the market. For the “Energy” challenge, engineering students will be available to collaborate with hull industries of “basic” catamarans created specifically for the occasion. The competition will consist in making cockpits for the boat and creating a powerful propulsion system, the longest lasting possible, using only sustainable energy such as batteries, hydrogen or biofuels. The goal of this challenge is to create and then compare different eco-friendly solutions for motorboats of the future.

Lastly, the “Solar” class, the protagonist of the event since the first edition in 2014. The solar energy boats will compete in the Montecarlo Bay for three days of timed and slalom races. The Solar & Energy Boat Challenge is also an exhibition which includes a cycle of conferences dedicated to solutions for the future of yachting. The Montecarlo Yacht Club Marina organises an exposition on water and on land, of the latest innovations and solutions pertaining to boats and the maritime sector. The conferences, open to the public, will have two main objectives. Yachting of the future with topics such as hydrogenation in the maritime sector, energy and sustainability in design and construction. The environment at the centre of every nautical event and the conversion to zero emissions and energy independence of the Yacht Club.

Du 2 au 6 juillet à Montecarlo étudiants et professionnels se rencontrent pour participer au challenge international dédié aux bateaux du futur. ignorano che il mare di Sanremo e della Riviera dei Fiori, il Mar Ligure, dal 1999 è parte del Santuario Pelagos, un’area marina protetta creata da Italia, Francia e Monaco dedicata alla tutela mammiferi marini, con il loro habitat, proteggendoli dagli impatti negativi dell’antropizzazione, l'insieme degli interventi di trasformazione dell'ambiente naturale da parte dell’uomo. Il Santuario Pelagos ha una forma di quadrilatero si estende per circa 88.000 km2 fra Tolone nella Region Sud – Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur in Francia, Capo Falcone e Capo Ferro nel nord della Sardegna, a Fosso Chiarone vicino a Capalbio in Toscana, coprendo sia le acque marittime interne e territoriali di Francia, Monaco e Italia, sia quelle pelagiche adiacenti. La conformazione del fondale vede profondi canyon,

montagne sommerse con una profondità massima di 2.600mt, che insieme ad un complesso sistema di venti e correnti rendono unico il Santuario Pelagos. Sono 8 le specie di cetacei che trovano nelle acque del Santuario Pelagos le condizioni necessarie per l’approvvigionamento del cibo e per la riproduzione e sono: le balenottere comuni Balaenoptera physalus (la seconda specie più grande al mondo dopo le ‘azzurre’, con 20-24 metri di lunghezza), i capodogli Physeter macrocephalus (i più grandi predatori al mondo), gli zifii Ziphius cavirostris, i globicefali Globicephala melas, i grampi Grampus griseus, i tursiopi Tursiops truncatus, le stenelle striate Stenella coeruleoalba e i rari delfini comuni Delphinus delphis. The Pelagos Sanctuary Few people are aware that the sea which laps against the shores of Sanremo and the Riviera dei Fiori, the Ligurian Sea, is part of the Pelagos Sanctuary and has been since 1999, a marine protected area between Italy, France, and the Principality of Monaco dedicated to the protection of marine mammals and their habitat, protecting them from the negative impacts of anthropization, the conversion of the natural environment by human action. The Pelagos Sanctuary is shaped like a quadrilateral extending for approximately 88,000 km2 between Toulon in the Southern Region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur in France, Capo Falcone and Capo Ferro in northern Sardinia, to Fosso Chiarone near Capalbio in Tuscany, covering both the internal and territorial waters of France, the Principality of Monaco and Italy, as well as the adjacent open ocean waters. The seabed is made up of deep canyons and undersea mountains with a maximum depth of 2,600 m, which together with a complex system of

winds and currents make the Pelagos Sanctuary truly unique.

There are 8 species of cetaceans which find that these waters offer the perfect conditions for feeding and reproducing, they are: fin whales Balaenoptera physalus (the second largest species in the world after the blue whale, 2024 metres long), sperm whales Physeter macrocephalus (the world's largest predator), goose-beaked whales Ziphius cavirostris, longfinned pilot whales Globicephala melas, risso's dolphins Grampus griseus, common bottlenose dolphins Tursiops truncatus, striped dolphins Stenella coeruleoalba and the rare short-beaked common dolphins Delphinus delphis. In addition to the cetaceans, the sanctuary's waters are also populated by turtles, mobulas (the so called manta rays of the Mediterranean), marine birds, tuna, swordfish, ...

The Pelagos Sanctuary is an asset that one needs to become acquainted with to be able to fully appreciate and love it. The enjoyment possibilities are endless, ranging from half-day motorboat trips, to sailing weekends, to taking part in the Citizen Science cruises departing from Portosole, Sanremo, which the Istituto Tethys has been organising for 31 years. Anybody, even those without any special scientific knowledge, can experience the pure emotion of a close encounter with the whales and dolphins and help the marine biologists during their data collection work, actively contributing to the preservation of these wonderful creatures for which the Istituto Tethys is right in the front line.

il sole al tramonto accarezza le rocce rosse dell'Esterel il cuore si riempie di emozione e gli occhi restano come ipnotizzati dallo spettacolo che la natura offre in questo angolo di paradiso. Il massiccio dell'Esterel, a cavallo tra i dipartimenti del Var e delle Alpi Marittime, è famoso per lo stupefacente colore purpureo che cambia ad ogni ora del giorno, dovuto alla riolite o porfido rosso, roccia vulcanica dell’era primaria che compongono le falesie. Uno spettacolo naturale ineguagliabile quello che si ammira percorrendo la suggestiva Corniche d'Or. Il massiccio si protende nel mar Mediterraneo creando coste rosse frastagliate che si immergono nel blu delle acque cristalline,

culminando nel monte Vinaigre che, con i suoi 618 metri sopra al livello del mare, è la vetta più alta del comprensorio. L'Esterel, le sue calanque e lo specchio acqueo, con la loro biodiversità e il loro patrimonio naturalistico, sono protetti dalla rete europea Natura 2000. Tra Saint Raphael e Mandelieu-La-Napoule la costa è caratterizzata da piccole insenature, delle vere e proprie alcove naturali. È uscendo da Saint-Raphaël, dopo Agay e fino a Théoule sur Mer che si possono scoprire le più belle calanche dell’Estérel. In queste insenature si trovano delle spiaggette di ciottoli rossi alle quali si può accedere grazie a delle scale. Verso Saint-Raphaël, il cui litorale si estende per ben 36 chilometri, si trovano alcune belle spiaggette e calette nascoste, tutte diverse tra loro, dalla sabbia fine di diverso colore ai ciottoli, dagli scogli delle coste rocciose, a

insenature e cricche ombreggiate. Calanque Saint-Barthélémy, Calanque - Plage d'Anthéor, Calanque de Maupas, Calanque d'Aurelle e Calanque du Petit Canereit: i posti idilliaci di certo non mancano. Tra le mete più apprezzate vi è in particolare la spiaggia di Camp Long, all’altezza del Dramont, e poco distante la grande spiaggia di sabbia di Agay. Da Théoule sur Mer, si possono invece raggiungere le spiagge delle Alpi marittime. Per ammirare le calanques e il massiccio dell'Esterel si può scegliere tra una gita in barca oppure una delle tante passeggiate organizzate dai Comuni di Saint Raphael e Mandelieu-laNapoule.

Estérel and calanques When the setting sun caresses the red tocks of the Estérel, the heart refills with emotions and the eyes are mesmerized by the show that the nature offers in this heavenly corner. The Estérel massif, standing between the Var and Maritime Alps regions, is famous for the amazing purplish colour that changes at any time of the day and is due to the rhyolite or red porphyry – a volcanic rock of the Primary era that make up the cliffs. An unmatchable natural show that can be admired along the evocative Corniche d'Or. The massif extends into the Mediterranean Sea creating jagged red coasts immersed in the blue of crystal-clear waters and peaking in Mount Vinaigre which, with its 618 meters above the sea level, is the highest peak of the area. With their biodiversity and natural heritage, the Estérel, its calanques and the water mirror are protected by the European Natura 2000 network. Between Saint Raphael and Mandelieu-LaNapoule, the coast features small bays that are authentic natural alcoves. Leaving SaintRaphaël, after Agay and up to Théoule sur Mer, you can discover the most beautiful coves of the Estérel. Little beaches with red pebbles, accessible by stairs, show up in these bays.

Approaching Saint-Raphaël, whose seashore extends for 36 kilometres, some beautiful little beaches and hidden coves are found, all different from each other ranging from fine sand of different colours to pebbles, from rocks to rocky coasts, from bays to shady inlets. Among the most popular destinations, the Camp Long beach, located at the height of the Dramont and not far from the large sandy beach of Agay. It is possible to reach the Maritime Alps beaches starting from Théoule sur Mer. To admire the calanques and the Estérel massif, you can choose between a boat trip of one of the many walks organized by the Municipalities of Saint Raphael and Mandelieula-Napoule.

Le massif de l’Estérel, à cheval entre les départements du Var et des Alpes Maritimes, est fameux pour la stupéfiante couleur pourpre qui change à toutes les heures du jour, dû à la riolite ou porphyre rouge, une roche volcanique de l’ère primaire composant les falaises. Un spectacle naturel unique celui qu'on admire en parcourant la suggestive Corniche d'Or. Le massif s'avance dans la mer Méditerranée en créant des côtes rocheuses rouges qui plongent dans le bleu des eaux cristallines, en culminant avec le mont Vinaigre qui, avec ses 618 mètres au-dessus du niveau de la mer, est le mont le plus haut de la zone. L’Estérel, ses calanques et le miroir d'eau, avec leur biodiversité et leur patrimoine naturaliste, sont protégées par le réseau européen Natura 2000. découvrir les plus belles calanques de l’Estérel. Dans ces baies se trouvent des plages de galets rouges où l'on peut accéder grâce à des escaliers. Vers Saint-Raphaël, dont le littoral s’étend pour 36 kilomètres, se trouvent des belles petites plages et calanques cachées, toute différentes, du sable fin avec des couleurs différentes aux galets, des rochers aux côtes rocheuses à des baies ombragées. Calanque Saint-Barthélémy, Calanque - Plage d'Anthéor, Calanque de Maupas, Calanque d'Aurelle et Calanque du Petit Canereit: les endroits de rêve ne manquent surtout pas. Parmi les destinations les plus appréciées il y a en particulier la plage de Camp Long, à l'hauteur de Dramont, et un peu plus loin la grande plage en sable de Agay. De Théoule sur Mer, on peut par contre joindre les plages des alpes Maritimes. Pour admirer les calanques et le massif de l’Estérel on peut choisir entre une sortie en bateau ou une des nombreuses promenades organisées par les communes de Saint Raphaël et Mandelieu-La-Napoule.

oprannominata la “piccola Venezia” della Costa Azzurra, Port Grimaud è un luogo magico in cui il tempo sembra essersi fermato. Con le sue casette in stile provenzale, seppure recente, in quanto costruite a partire dai primi anni '60, e le imbarcazioni ormeggiate praticamente davanti alla porta di casa, la cittadina che si affaccia sul golfo di Saint Tropez è da sempre la meta preferita di velisti, appassionati e cultori del mare. Uno degli aspetti caratteristici di Port Grimaud è la varietà di colori delle case, tutte in tonalità diverse l'una dall'altra, come diversi sono anche i dettagli architettonici di porte, balconi, finestre, oltre alle altezze delle case stesse.

La cittadina, che insieme al villaggio di Grimaud, che si trova pochi chilometri più nell’entroterra, arrampicato su delle verdi e dolci colline, conta poco più di 4mila abitanti, ed è stata progettata e praticamente costruita dall'architetto François Spoerry a partire dal 1964. Le oltre 2mila case sorgono, a ridosso di un antico insediamento, su quelle che un tempo erano paludi, bonificate grazie a capitali interamente privati. Port Grimaud è infatti una cittadina quasi esclusivamente privata, dalle vie, agli spazi pubblici, ed è mantenuta e gestita esclusivamente dai proprietari delle case. In prossimità dei moli, nelle viuzze e nelle piazzette, si trovano negozi e ristoranti tipici. Le curiosità nelle quali ci si può imbattere passeggiando lungo le strade del villaggio (alcune inaccessibili, addirittura chiuse da cancelli da residenti particolarmente gelosi della

propria privacy) non mancano, dai trompe-l'œil coloratissimi e con diversi soggetti dipinti sulle pareti delle case alle le decorazioni a mosaico della pavimentazione in place du Marché. Ai bordi di Port Grimaud si estendono lunghe e sabbiose spiagge e uno specchio d'acqua cristallina in cui ci si può tuffare ammirando il panorama del golfo di Saint Tropez. Partendo da un'idea più utopica che reale, Spoerry, scomparso nel 1999, riuscì a trasformare un'ansa paludosa in una reale città lacustre riscuotendo un'enorme successo sia di pubblico che finanziario.

Nicknamed the “little Venice” of the Cote d’Azur, Port Grimaud is a magic place where time seems to stand still. With its Provençal-style yet recent houses, since they were built in the early ‘60s, and the boats moored almost in front of the houses, this town overlooking the Gulf of Saint Tropez has always been the preferred destination of sailors, sea enthusiasts and lovers. One of the main features of Port Grimaud is the variety of colours of the houses, which are all in different shades as well as architectural details of doors, balconies, windows and the heights of the houses. The town which, together with the Grimaud village located a few kilometres inland and perched on green and gentle hills, counts with just over 4 thousand inhabitants and was designed and actually built by the architect François Spoerry starting from 1964. The over 2 thousand houses rise, close to an ancient settlement, on those that once were swamps which were after reclaimed thanks to entirely private assets. Port Grimaud is in fact an almost exclusively private town, and its streets and public spaces are preserved and managed almost solely by the house owners. Near the docks, in the alleys and squares, there are typical shops and restaurants. The peculiarities one can encounter while walking along the streets of the village (some inaccessible or even closed by the gates of the residents who are particularly jealous of their privacy) are endless and range from the colourful trompel'oeil with several subjects painted on the walls of the houses to the mosaic decorations on the pavement of place du Marché.

At the edges of Port Grimaud, long and sandy beaches expand as well as a crystal-clear water where you can plunge while admiring the view of the Gulf of Saint Tropez. Starting from a more utopian than real idea, Spoerry, who died 1999, succeeded in turning a swampy bay into a real lacustrine city thus meeting both a public and financial huge success.

Un des aspects caractéristiques de Port Grimaud est la variété de couleurs des maisons, toutes dans des tons différents l'une de

l'autre, comme différents sont aussi les détails architectoniques de portes, balcons, fenêtres, outre à la hauteur des maisons. La ville qui, avec le village de Grimaud qui se trouve peu de kilomètres plus dans l’arrière-pays accroché à des collines vertes et douces, compte juste un peu plus que 4mille habitants, et elle a été conçu et pratiquement construite par l'architecte François Spoerry à partir de 1964. Les plus de 2mille maisons surgissent, à côté d'un ancien site, sur ceux qu'autre fois étaient des marais, asséchés grâce à des fond entièrement privés. Port Grimaud est en

effet une ville presque exclusivement privée, des rues jusqu'aux espaces publics, et elle est entretenue et gérée exclusivement par les propriétaires des maisons. Près des quais, dans les ruelles et petites places, l'on trouve des magasins et des restaurants typiques. Les curiosités à rencontrer en se promenant le long des rues du village (certaines sont inaccessibles, même fermées avec des grilles par des résidents tenant particulièrement à leur privacy) ne manquent pas : des trompe-l’œil très colorés et avec différents sujets peints sur les

parois des maisons aux décorations en mosaïque du parterre de place du Marché. Aux abords de Port Grimaud s’étendent des plages de sable et un miroir d'eau cristalline où l'on peut plonger en admirant le panorama du golfe de Saint Tropez. “uomini di ferro” si danno appuntamento domenica 30 giugno a Nizza per la tappa francese di triathlon valida per il campionato mondiale Ironman. L'avvincente gara avrà inizio alle 6.30 del mattino sulla celebre Promenade des Anglais con la prova di nuoto. I concorrenti dovranno percorrere un tragitto di 3,8 chilometri a nuoto davanti alle coste di Nizza in un tempo limite di 2 ore e 15 minuti. La frazione di nuoto dell’Ironman di Nizza presenta le normali difficoltà del nuoto in mare. I due giri prevedono il passaggio sulla spiaggia, per gli atleti sarà certamente motivante ed

emozionante passare vicino al grande pubblico che già dalle prime ore del mattino sarà pronto a sostenere e incitare tutti i partecipanti. Segue poi la seconda prova, che consiste in un percorso di 180 chilometri in bicicletta, nell'entroterra della Costa Azzurra, da completare entro 10 ore e 45 minuti. Gli atleti attraverseranno paesini caratteristici della Provenza, come Tourettes-sur-Loup, Gourdon e Châteauneuf de Grasse. La prova ciclistica sarà da affrontare con grinta, ma con grande lucidità, visto che il percorso presenta dislivelli decisamente importanti. La terza e ultima fase della gara è la maratona di 42,195 chilometri, per i quali i concorrenti

avranno a disposizione circa 4 ore. Il primo che taglia il traguardo della maratona sarà il vincitore e con l'ultimo si darà inizio ai festeggiamenti con tanto di fuochi d'artificio. Nizza sarà la capitale mondiale di Ironman a settembre: gli oltre 6mila atleti già qualificati per il 70.3 World Championship 2019 si sfideranno nella città della Costa Azzurra il 7 e l'8 settembre in una delle gare utili per aggiudicarsi il trofeo più ambito di questa disciplina. È la prima volta che alla Francia viene offerta l'occasione di ospitare questo campionato mondiale.
