Australian Antarctic Territory 2011 Killer Whale Silver Proof The eighth coin from this amazingly popular series is struck from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality and features the majestic Orca or Killer Whale.

Mintage just 7500 Coins!

The killer whale is a toothed whale belonging to the oceanic dolphin family. Killer whales have sophisticated social structures, hunting techniques and vocal behaviours, which are passed across generations. They also have keen hearing and good eyesight, both in and out of water, and a developed sense of touch. The killer whale's large size and strength make it one of the fastest of marine mammals. The average lifespan of males and female varies according to habitat and lifestyle. The female killer whale is thought to live the longest, to a maximum age of 80 to 90 years. Presented in a plush Presentation case with certificate this coin series has proven enormously popular with its tiny mintage of just 7,500 coins. GALLIPOLI - Famous Battles in Australian History $1 The first release in this outstanding series honours the Australian diggers of the First World War. The Gallipoli or Dardanelles Campaign took place in the Ottoman Empire between April 1915 and January 1916. The operations consisted of a joint British and French mission to capture the capital of Istanbul and secure a sea route to Russia. On 25 April, at approximately 4.15am on a still spring night, with the sea mist rising, members of the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) landed at Gallipoli together with troops from New Zealand, Britain, and France. It was shortly after this landing that the high command realised that the men had disembarked in the wrong position. Instead of facing the friendly topography south of Anzac Cove, they faced the precipitous area of the north. ntage Inhospitable terrain, miserable conditions and horrendous casualties were characteristic of the campaign, which ended with the withdrawal of allied troops. For the Turkish people, Gallipoli was a defining moment in their history. Likewise, the Gallipoli campaign resonated profoundly among Australians. The campaign marked the first major battle undertaken by the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) and is considered a landmark in the development of the Australian identity.

Mi just 5,000 Coins!

Anzac Day, April 25, remains a deeply significant commemoration, honouring the military service, suffering and sacrifice of those involved. Presented in a plush presentation case with certificate and outer box. With a

2011 Australia’s Convict Past Gold Proof Collection In 1788, Captain Arthur Phillip brought 751 convicts and 252 marines and their families to proclaim a new British colony in New South Wales. Convicts transported to Australia provided skilled labour for the development of the new colony - many were able farmers, shepherds brickmakers, carpenters, nurses, servants and cattlemen. After serving their term, they often became free subjects. The fledgling New South Wales population was soon augmented with new settlements in Van Diemen’s Land, Norfolk Island, Rottnest Island, Moreton Bay and other destinations. These sites echo the profound impact of convict settlement in our national history. In 2010, the Australian Convict Sites was inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. The property is made up of 11 convict sites located across Australia. The list recognises places that are of “outstanding universal value” according to the World Heritage Convention. The Convict Past Heritage Sites Collection will consist of six 1/25th Ounce 99.99% Pure Gold Proof coins. The designs will show Port Arthur, Hyde Park Barracks, Fremantle Prison, Cascades Female Factory, Coal Mines historic site and Old Government House. The first two coins, presented in the leatherette collection case, feature Port Arthur and the Hyde Park Barracks and are available now. Future issues will be released in May and September this year. Make sure you take advantage of our Coin-In service to ensure you receive all six coins in the series.

Port Arthur is the most well known property whereby it began as a penal settlement with numerous industrial activities such as ship building and flour milling later of course becoming a major tourist attraction. Accompanying the set is an Australia Post Souvenir Stamp Sheet, certificates and an information booklet on all eleven sites on UNESCO’s World Heritage list.

The Hyde Park Barracks was built in 1819. It as Australia’s first government built barracks and is today the only one remaining example from the Macquarie era. Only 3,000 of each coin will be struck. The first release is now available at the Official Issue Price.

Calico Jack Pirate Dollar Since the first release of the $1 Blackbeard Coin, this seafaring series on pirates has proved popular plunder for young collectors. John Rackham (Calico Jack) was born in England in 1682 and was a moderately successful pirate in the Caribbean, whose alias reflected his fondness for striped calico breeches. Charming and good-looking, Rackham is most remembered for the design of his Jolly Roger flag – a skull with crossed swords. He is also known for having two female crew members, Mary Read and Anne Bonny, which was unusual at that time. When Rackham’s ship was captured, the female pirates fought to the last, while their drunken shipmates surrendered feebly. Tried in Jamaica in 1720, Rackham and his men were hanged and posted in gibbets.

Elvis Presley The King Lives! Singer, actor, soldier there have been few performers with the charisma of Elvis. Born in Tupelo, Mississippi in 1935, Elvis began his career in 1954 at Sun Records. Managed by Colonel Tom Parker he released many number one singles including Heartbreak Hotel, All Shook Up, Love me Tender and Suspicious Minds and starred in popular movies such as Roustabout, GI Blues and Blue Hawaii. This Collection captures Elvis at many stages of his brilliant career.

Marilyn Monroe A cultural icon, Marilyn was born Norma Jean Mortenson in 1926. From modelling her career in film exploded with such classics as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How to Marry a Millionaire and The Seven Year Itch. And who can forget that rendition of Happy Birthday sung to JFK? The circumstances of her death have always been the subject of conjecture. Was it murder or suicide, or just an unfortunate accident?

John Wayne Few actors have epitomised rugged masculinity like John Wayne. His distinctive voice, swagger and height made him a western film star. Wayne won an Academy Award for True Grit but will also be remembered for The Man who Shot Liberty Valance, The High and Mighty and The Searcher amongst a long list of stellar performances.

18

In 1999 the American Film Institute named Wayne 13th amongst the Greatest Male Stars of All Time.

Coin Sets from the USA Gone With The Wind Gone with the Wind is a 1939 American epic romance-drama film adapted from Margaret Mitchell's 1936 novel of the same name. The film, set in the Old South in and around the time of the American Civil War, stars Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, Leslie Howard, Olivia de Havilland, and Hattie McDaniel. It tells a story of the American Civil War and Reconstruction Era from a white, Southern point of view. It received ten Academy Awards (8 competitive, 2 honorary), a record that stood for twenty years.

John F Kennedy JFK was the 35th President of the USA. After serving as the commander of a Torpedo Boat in WWII Kennedy began his meteoric rise to the top echelon of politics. He defeated Nixon in the 1960 Presidential election making him, at 43, the youngest ever President. His tenure included the Cuban Missile Crisis and the development of the US Space Program. Together with wife Jacqui Kennedy they attained “movie star status. His assassination in 1963 has long been the subject of conspiracy theories.

Ronald Reagan The movie star President. After appearing in over fifty movie productions Reagan used his public persona to launch his political career. He became governor of California in 1966 and won the US Presidential election in 1980. As president, he implemented sweeping new political and economic initiatives. His supply-side economic policies, dubbed "Reaganomics," advocated controlling the money supply to reduce inflation, and spurring economic growth by reducing tax rates, government regulation of the economy, and government spending.

Ancient Persia c.1000BC Spearheads Settled in the fourth millennium BC Luristan lies in what is now Iraq. The area was more extensively settled in ancient times than it is now and a flourishing culture developed, despite the lack of a written language. Dating from the late bronze age, around 1000 BC, we offer original spearheads. These pieces measure 200mm in length and would originally have been attached to a wooden shaft. Silver Coins of Sassanian Khusru II AD591-628 Khusru II Parvez (the Ever Victorious) was the 22nd Sassanid King of Persia. He was said to be haughty and cruel and had his father blinded, then murdered. His reign was marked by ongoing wars involving the Byzantine Empire. In A.D. 614, the army of Khusru II conquered Jerusalem. This conquest created a sensation, for Jerusalem was Christianity's most important city. It contained innumerable holy relics, including the true cross that, it is believed, Jesus Christ died upon. The church that housed the true cross was burned to the ground but the true cross was fortunately saved. Apparently the King wanted to present it to his favorite wife, Sira, who was a devout Christian! These Silver Drachms show a Bearded bust right of Khusru II wearing winged crowned with star and crescent between wings. The reverse depicts a fire altar, a symbol of the Zoroastrian religion, with an attendant either side leaning on long staffs.

The Early Coinage of Ireland Regarded somewhat as the poor cousin, Ireland struggled not only with self preservation but also a lack of currency. Local issues were scant and English coins typically made up the majority of circulating coinage. However, Ireland’s own coinage is a most interesting series with unique designs and the ever-present Irish harp on many coins.

The Early Coinage of Scotland The first Scottish coins were produced during the reign of David I (1124-1153). It began with denominations similar to the prevailing standards of English coins and many Scottish coins circulated in England. The closer ties with France initiated by the Stuart kings led to a great diversity of denominations, many based on French equivalents, with designs that reflected growing French influence.
