2011 Silver Proof Ram’s Head $1 with ‘C’ Mintmark Along with the bounding kangaroo on the Halfpenny and Penny, the Ram’s Head reverse design from the silver predecimal shilling could be considered Australia’s most iconic coin design. The design was used from 1938 until the last issue in 1963. The original design was modelled on a grand champion Merino from the annual Sydney Sheep show in 1932. This ram was considered to be unmatched in the position of its head and horns. Named Uardry 0.1 after its home station, it became known as the ‘Shilling Ram’ and represented Australia’s growing wool industry. The dignified Merino ram represents Australia’s reliance on primary industry through its economic history. The Royal Australia Mint’s Silver Proof $1 for 2011 features this classic design as it appeared on the shilling. The coin is presented in a plush case with coloured outer box featuring a candy striped theme reminiscent of the shearer’s clothing featured in the famous 1890 Tom Roberts painting ‘Shearing the Rams’. Only 12,500 coins will be struck. Available at the Official Issue Price of

Following the deaths of Gordian I and II, Balbinus was elected joint ruler with Pupienus by the senate on 22 April 238. Balbinus was in charge of civil administration whilst Pupienus gathered troops to battle Maximinus. Even though Maximinus was checked and ultimately murdered by his troops, neither the people of Rome nor the army had any love for their new rulers. After a period of civil uprising the Praetorians invaded the palace, dragged out the two emperors and murdered them. Their reign lasted just 98 days. With such a short reign it goes without saying that the coins of Balbinus are scarce to rare. This is a lovely Denarius and shows a laureate head of Balbinus on the obverse and Victory standing on the reverse. It is usually the Antoninianus of Balbinus that is seen. A handsome portrait of a rare emperor.

Brutus is best remembered for the part he played in the assassination of Julius Caesar. On 15 March 44BC a group of senators called Caesar to the Roman forum to read a (false) petition requesting he hand power back to the senate. Caesar was intercepted on the steps of the forum where he was attacked and stabbed 23 times. It is said his last words were “Et tu Brutus (even you, Brutus)”. The aftermath saw Rome engaged in civil war between the supporters of Caesar - Mark Antony and Octavian (the Second Triumvirate), and his assassins Marcus Junius Brutus and Gaius Cassius Longinus. The wars came to a head at the Battle of Philippi in 42BC where the forces of Antony and Octavian were victorious. This Superb Gold Stater was struck the Thracian Dynast of Koson to pay Brutus’ troops. The design shows Brutus as Proconsul accompanied by two lictors (body guards), his monogram before. The reverse shows an eagle with wings open, raising a wreath with its left foot. A superb example!

Complete Consecutive Bundle of 100 DBP $1 Test Notes By 1976 the life of the $1 note was less than seven months. This meant over 100 million pieces had to be printed each year to ensure supply. Note Printing decided to experiment with alternative papers to see if a longer lasting alternative could be found. A new, heavy duty paper named "Double Fold" was used to print 500,000 notes. At the same time 500,000 notes were printed on the normal "Single Fold" paper. The idea was to issue a mixture of the two types and compare their wear qualities. The prefix DBP was selected for the test. Serial numbers 0000001 to 500000 were "Double Fold" and serials 500001 to 999999 were "Single Fold". The notes were released together in Hobart, Perth and Brisbane. When compared at the end of their life it was found that the more expensive "Double Fold" paper was only marginally better and did not warrant the extra expense. So "Single Fold" paper was used for further issues. However, the cost of the production of the $1 note again came to the fore in the 1980's and in 1984 the $1 coin was introduced to replace the note.

Elvis Presley The King Lives! Singer, actor, soldier there have been few performers with the charisma of Elvis. Born in Tupelo, Mississippi in 1935, Elvis began his career in 1954 at Sun Records. Managed by Colonel Tom Parker he released many number one singles including Heartbreak Hotel, All Shook Up, Love me Tender and Suspicious Minds and starred in popular movies such as Roustabout, GI Blues and Blue Hawaii. This Collection captures Elvis at many stages of his brilliant career.
Marilyn Monroe A cultural icon, Marilyn was born Norma Jean Mortenson in 1926. From modelling her career in film exploded with such classics as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How to Marry a Millionaire and The Seven Year Itch. And who can forget that rendition of Happy Birthday sung to JFK? The circumstances of her death have always been the subject of conjecture. Was it murder or suicide, or just an unfortunate accident?
John Wayne Few actors have epitomised rugged masculinity like John Wayne. His distinctive voice, swagger and height made him a western film star. Wayne won an Academy Award for True Grit but will also be remembered for The Man who Shot Liberty Valance, The High and Mighty and The Searcher amongst a long list of stellar performances.

In 1999 the American Film Institute named Wayne 13th amongst the Greatest Male Stars of All Time.
Coin Sets from the USA Gone With The Wind Gone with the Wind is a 1939 American epic romance-drama film adapted from Margaret Mitchell's 1936 novel of the same name. The film, set in the Old South in and around the time of the American Civil War, stars Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, Leslie Howard, Olivia de Havilland, and Hattie McDaniel. It tells a story of the American Civil War and Reconstruction Era from a white, Southern point of view. It received ten Academy Awards (8 competitive, 2 honorary), a record that stood for twenty years.
John F Kennedy JFK was the 35th President of the USA. After serving as the commander of a Torpedo Boat in WWII Kennedy began his meteoric rise to the top echelon of politics. He defeated Nixon in the 1960 Presidential election making him, at 43, the youngest ever President. His tenure included the Cuban Missile Crisis and the development of the US Space Program. Together with wife Jacqui Kennedy they attained “movie star status. His assassination in 1963 has long been the subject of conspiracy theories.
Ronald Reagan The movie star President. After appearing in over fifty movie productions Reagan used his public persona to launch his political career. He became governor of California in 1966 and won the US Presidential election in 1980. As president, he implemented sweeping new political and economic initiatives. His supply-side economic policies, dubbed "Reaganomics," advocated controlling the money supply to reduce inflation, and spurring economic growth by reducing tax rates, government regulation of the economy, and government spending.

The Compl Melbourne M Predecimal P Set 1955-19 In 1955 the decision was made to produce Proof coins to satisfy a growing demand from collectors. The Perth Mint, who had been striking Pennies and Halfpennies for circulation, produced most of Australia’s bronze Proofs and the Melbourne Mint, who struck all of the Silver of the era produced all the Silver Proofs along with sporadic issues of bronzes. With the numismatic market just developing mintages of these Predecimal Proofs were small - between just 301 and 5,042 pieces with most around the 1,500 mark. Today, assembling a complete collection in superb condition represents quite a challenge as time has ensured that many coins have been damaged or lost. We are delighted to offer a superb Complete Collection comprising all 36 coins struck at the Melbourne Mint between 1955 and 1963. The Collection consists of 5 Copper and 31 Silver Proofs. The Coppers are vastly superior to the usual unappealing Melbourne Copper Proofs we see. The Collection catalogues at $18,210.00 in the 2010 McDonalds. We have just purchased a new Collection. Housed in Descriptive Album. Save an incredible $2,710.00! A great item for your investment portfolio.

1995 Identical Red Serial Pair In 1995 Note Printing Australia released two special notes to mark the end of the Paper $50 and the introduction of the Polymer $50. The $50 Polymer note featured the signatures Fraser-Evans and Red Serials along with the date of first issue - 4 October 1995 overprinted on the back. The Paper $50 was particularly interesting. It too features Red Serial numbers and for the only time the serials are in the AA95 format used on the Polymer notes rather than the three letter prefix used on other paper $50. But what makes these notes so special is that both notes have identical serial numbers! Only 900 of each note was printed so they all have very low serial numbers. We have 4 Pairs available. Very Rare!
