hen I heard Tommy Hilfiger was opening in St James Quarter, I was… well, to be honest, I was indifferent. As far as my limited fashion knowledge was concerned, I thought the preppy American brand was all about that wealthy student look I couldn’t even pull off in my Edinburgh university days. While there’s obviously a place for hoodies and puffers in everyone’s winter wardrobes, my chilly season style tends more towards the smarter end of casual – think cosy knits, wool coats and chunky boots. I wasn’t expecting to find any of these things when I visited the new Tommy Hilfiger store but there they were – piles of stylish, quality knitwear; racks full of immaculately cut winter coats; and shelves brimming with shiny leather boots. Not only that, there were blouses. And dresses. And skirts. Oh My. This was going to be a much more fun shopping trip than I had imagined.
