This is truly an incredible time to be engaged, with so many different wedding day options awaiting you. Bold and bright, unconventional and whimsical, or classic and chic—this issue is brimming with it all. And lucky for you, the old standard of seasonality is no longer applicable (for unexpected takes on winter weddings, check out our shoots on pages 18 and 24)—all that matters is what you want!

At Nebraska Wedding Day, our goal is simply to inspire everyone, regardless of who you love, where you’re from or what you look like. The photo shoots and weddings in this issue are just a tiny sample of the eye-catching locations and out-of-this-world originality that this wonderful state has to offer, and just a small glimpse into its diverse and powerful wedding community and that includes the wedding professionals, of course, and you, the newly engaged couple.

A DAY IN THE COUNTRY

AS SUMMER FADES TO FALL , the land offers bounty as well as beauty for a new twist on wedding day décor.

1. WALKING ON SUNSHINE

Tom and Becca twirl through a lane at West Mill Flowers, a cut flower farm in Raymond that provides posies for florists and area markets.

2. SUN-KISSED

Becca’s late-summer glow is enhanced with a delicate touch by Divine Beauty. A loose side braid and faceframing tendrils complete her natural, light-hearted look.

3. IN GOOD TASTE

Becca’s unique bouquet is proof that flowers aren’t the only flora for a glorious arrangement. This one includes artichokes, broccoli, beets, tomatoes and tomato vine, persimmon, pumpkin on a stick, rosemary, kale, radish, pomegranates, dates, ornamental peppers and Chinaberries. It has a certain appeal for Marshmallow the horse, too, but Becca insists that this bouquet is hers alone.

4. SIMPLY ELEGANT

With her winning smile and pristine Justin Alexander “Declan” gown, Becca makes a picture-perfect bride. This clean, modern look has a square neckline and low back, and comes in a comfortable stretch crepe.

GARDEN PARTY

A sunny day requires a sun hat—so why not wear one that’s sure to draw a second look and inspiration directly from the garden? Styled by Of The Earth Florals, this Lucca Couture hat sports broccoli, radish, peppers, tomatoes and kale.

6. THE LOOK OF LOVE

Tom and Becca share a sweet moment as they wander down the garden path, both outfitted without artifice. Tom’s casual attire achieves a measure of sophistication through the deep teal tones and contrasting khakicolored suspenders, highlighted with a radish boutonniere that nicely complements Becca’s bouquet of fresh veggies.

Sundee Event Venue in Omaha's historic Benson neighborhood is Nebraska’s newest choice for couples planning an intimate wedding. The venue's vintage charm, with its original tin ceiling and brick walls, can create a picturesque setting that aligns with couples' Pinterestinspired dreams.

Jessica Gylsen has had an affinity for fine jewelry since she was a little girl—in fact, she preferred diamonds to dolls, and played with ring and necklace samples in her grandparents’ store, York Jewelers, where she started working at 16.

Wearing a chic strapless gown, the bride held a bouquet of white florals accented with lush greenery and tied together with her late grandmother’s rosary. Bridesmaids were outfitted in champagne dresses while the groom and groomsmen opted for dapper tuxes. Before the altar, Kelsey had a sentimental first look with her dad, one of her favorite moments of the day. As the bridal party left the church, they popped a bottle of bubbly amid a shower of celebratory petals. The party continued at Founder’s One • Nine, aglow in a sea of lights and foliage-garnished columns. Neutral hues with pops of gold added to the polished ambience while flickering tea lights added a cozy touch. A series of carefully curated details were on full display at Jalissa Felici and Willie Park's nuptials. The sunny day started with the bride and groom exchanging gifts—a rose-gold necklace for Jalissa to match her engagement ring and a pin with Willie’s late grandfather’s picture. A palette of black, maroon and hints of gold fit the couple’s romantic vision perfectly, and the circular altar with red florals made a stunning statement. At cocktail hour, a live saxophonist set a dreamy mood as guests sipped on signature cocktails with napkins featuring fun facts about the bride and groom. During the reception, loved ones delivered tender speeches. “It felt amazing to hear the love and support from everyone,” Jalissa says. As the night went on the 360-photo booth documented the festivities while guests feasted on late-night Mexican food—the ideal ending to the newlyweds’ magical day.

Joyous florals and cheery colors took center stage at Madison Hebner and Dylan Brotzman’s festive fête at the Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel. With a background in the wedding industry, bride Madison already had a unique vision for their wedding day. Inspired by traditional coastal touches, the couple combined a variety of stunning shades with refined pieces to create the design of their dreams. Bright blooms in hues of orange, yellow, purple and pink added a whisper of whimsy, with asymmetrical centerpieces for an organic touch. Bridesmaids held small white bouquets and dressed in mismatched floral dresses, adding to the fun yet sophisticated theme. After private vows full of promises and inside jokes and an unforgettable ceremony, each guest found their name on a brass key chain attached to their escort card. Their details were a labor of love, as bride and groom spent countless hours making day-of pieces while their fathers built the ceremony pieces and signage.

Hannah Childress and Byron Hood’s wedding day at the Livestock Exchange Ballroom elegantly fused timeless and modern. To symbolize the importance of faith for the couple, a mirrored cross welcomed the guests as they made their way to the ceremony space filled with acrylic chairs and pedestals. The aisle was lined with an array of lush white florals and hundreds of glowing candles to create a dreamy aura amid contemporary details. Loved ones found their seat on the VIP escort wall and were welcomed to cocktail hour cordoned off by a velvet rope, where they were handed a Manhattan or cosmopolitan to get the party started. To achieve the couple’s “Studio 54 meets Upper East Side” aesthetic, Styled in White Events created a black and gold color scheme featuring disco balls and gold chandeliers above the black and white dance floor. “Every moment from this wedding was fun, exciting, unexpected and true to who Hannah and Byron are,” says Sarah Meduna of Styled in White Events.

Devin Washington took notes from the movie Love Hard to propose to his girlfriend of 12 years, Chloe DeCoito. His heartfelt holiday proposal was pictureperfect as he drove a blindfolded Chloe to a Christmas tree display in Midtown Omaha, then played their favorite song while he held up handwritten messages on cardboard. For their wedding day, the couple’s goal was to create a romantically inviting atmosphere, and the flora cooperated: Hydrangeas were in full bloom at Stables at Copper Ridge, complementing their palette of black, white and pinks. The florals were a work of art, featuring pink and white tones of anthurium, orchids and amaranth. Guests gathered at the long dining tables lined with baby’s breath and roses and took advantage of the outdoor space with string lights and a fireplace, creating the warm vibe the couple was going for. As a designer, bride Chloe designed details for their nuptials like the ceremony pillars, invitations and signage to create the wedding day of their dreams.

Surrounded by lush pastoral views, Country Pines was the ideal locale for Courtney Gifford and Grahm Grenemeier’s September celebration. The al fresco space allowed the pair to incorporate natural tones and display their love for the outdoors and plants, which was the theme of the day. Houseplants from Courtney and Grahm’s home filled the venue, with more plants adorning tables and doubling as wedding favors. “Going to a friend or family’s home and seeing the plants from our wedding thriving brings us great joy and is a reminder of our special day,” Courtney says. The verdant theme carried over to wedding-day fashion, with bridesmaids donning various shades of green and the groom in a bold pine-colored suit. To complement the greenery, Of The Earth Floral Design provided flowers in shades of orange and magenta accented with pheasant and duck feathers from Grahm, perfect for their early autumn nuptials. Guests signed a terracotta planter as a memento of the foliage-filled day, which newlyweds will use for years to come. *
